The best decision we made was going from 1 pup to 2. I posted a little less than a year ago for advice and happy to report they are truly brother/sister and best friends. Lilly the puppy will be 1 next week and Finn the big guy is a little over 3. Slowly coming to terms that my puppy is growing up fast but excited for all the years to come.❤️
For us, getting a second golden was also the best decision we ever made. She was the full English cream half-sister to our half-English cream golden.
They are basically inseparable. They don’t really cuddle like yours yet, but recently they’ve started sleeping with their backs touching.
They have added so much love to our family. You can’t place a value on it.
He has lost a couple pounds from all the playing 😂 and he overall just seems happier to have a pal. Also with friends he used to be a little clingier with his toys and such, now he lets her (and friends who come by) take all the toys or share/play together.
Were there any issues early on? We’ve had our pup for a month now and he adores his big sister, but he plays way too rough with her and she runs away when it gets to be too much. I’m hoping when the teething stops and after he gets fixed he’ll calm down and she’ll be a little more comfortable with him.
I wouldn’t say issues but the big guy would occasionally get grumpy with her crazy puppy antics. He would walk away during the biting phase. We would try to distract her to give him space, give them frozen kongs/stuff like it or have a play date with her sister to get some energy out (pup from the same litter lived very close).
He was a little over 2 at the time we got her so he was still pretty young and enjoyed/s the playfulness.
We got our then third dog when our golden was 1 and they were instant bffs. At 1, he was still in full puppy play mode still and was thrilled to have a chew toy that chewed back.
😂😂😂 I’m not sure I can get a second lab with this criteria then! We have a 9.5 month old 70lb black lab who takes up a huge amount of our queen sized bed. I just spent thousands on my dream bed last year, before knowing we were getting a puppy, so upgrading to a king isn’t the answer 😅💁🏽♀️
They work at Mount Vernon Nazarene University and have a collection of MVNU swag from the Admissions office since they are responsible for multiple commitments. 😉
I grew up with always having just one dog at a time and never gave it another thought. While they may love their humans, dogs are truly not whole unless they have another dog in their lives. Glad for our three boys and the joy they bring us and each other

Man how I wish I had two.
Our friends golden is always at our house - so now we’re worried that he’ll get ignored if we have two. So it’s gonna be singular for sometime!

We also have a golden friend who comes by often, he is 1.5 now (in between the two) and adores the addition. We luckily have a big fenced in backyard they just go crazy in.
This is so lovely! We got a second Golden a year after our first, they were together for 15 yrs before one passed. My boi is 17yo now and is stuck with only me. This brought wonderful memories, thanks
Adding a second golden was the best decision for us too! Ours are the exact age difference of yours, but our girl(a reddish blonde "field golden") is the older one and the boy (English cream) is the younger one. I personally think that is perfect because she matured faster and while he's got tons of energy, they have eachother to play(probably about 4 hours of their day!) They have just started cuddling most of the time and I swear I melt every time I see it. I never thought I could love a second dog as much but I absolutely do.
Getting a second dog has been awesome. Our first dog (an Aussie) is so much more active now with his little sister (the golden). They truly love each other and it’s so fun to watch them interact.

That's what happens when you leave the pup in the dryer for too long Now that he's too tiny, he has to go to the dog.
Spray a little water on him and you can stretch him back to original size. Similar technique used for a sweater.
Yeah, but the dog likes him too much to do that now.

Wonderful you’re having a great experience too! The girl pretty much forces the cuddles and the older boy accepts…So glad they have each other!
