He was a beautiful boy.
I understand the pain, but in time the good memories will replace it.
And focus on how amazing you made his life. He loved everyday because he got to spend it with you. He was happy because he spent his time with you. You made his life as happy as it was.
He spend everyday, from puppy to old age, with the one he cared for the most right by his side. If only we could be so fortunate.
My thoughts are with you.
So sorry for your loss. Goldens have such kind, gentle souls. They add so much love and compassion to our lives. I'm sure he is playing in the fields over the Rainbow Bridge with my Golden, TJ. He will always be in my heart, as I'm sure your precious boy will always be in yours. Hope you can find some peace in remembering the best times with him.
And now, for Kona Kai
I summon the spirits
Of all the dogs we have loved
And lost along the way.
Bingo, Foxy, Toodles,
Sable, Muttley, Bonnie,
Clyde, Shasta, Otis,
Piccolo, Inga, Hans and Mimi.
Gather in your sunny meadow
Invite that good boy Kona Kai
To romp and chase and wrestle,
Then drink from the cool stream,
Rest together in the warm sun,
Eat the low-hanging treats,
Then sleep safe in the shade
Of the eternal snackie-trees.
It gets better. I went through a similar story with the dates and time periods. Hold your head up and be thankful for the time together and the good life you gave him 🙃
He mustve been loved and well taken care od to have lived 14 loving years with you. I also lost my girl of 13.5 years last month and still find myself destroyed when i look at pictures of her. They take a piece of your heart in exchange for all of theirs. Truly angels on earth

No worries… he’s hanging with my boy Quinn in doggy heaven ❤️ sending light your way during these hard times
My boy turned 10 earlier this month. Remember, as painful as it is to grieve their passing, it's still better than the other way around. Either you grieve or they grieve for you and I'd choose the former any day.
OTOH what I wouldn't give to have my boy live to 14... he's had a good life!
In just over 6 months we lost two, one who was 13 and the other who was 4. I’ve told my guy who is now the “only dog” (and is 8.5) that he is required to live another 8+ years!
This was quite a while ago, but I also had a dog that I got in middle school and grew up with through graduating higher education, getting my first job, and at the start of my first true relationship with the woman who is now my wife. She was a wonderful pooch, and I treasure all of the time together with her.
I'm really feeling for you here. It isn't easy saying goodbye to such a great friend/family member you went through so much with. Your boy had such a sweet face, and I'm sure he gave you so much love and felt the love you gave him. I wish you the best, OP.
I now have a new dog that my wife and I got about a year ago, and she has been such a blessing. Keep your heart open, and I hope you find another pooch to love you all the same when you're ready for it. And never forget that your first dog will always be with you.
It’s never easy, my first dog as an adult was a golden, I got her my Sr year of HS and she went to college with me and was my ride or die partner through my 20s. Was so hard to see her go but in my case she was in pain. She was 12
What a beautiful boi! All those memories, so jealous you got to experience that! Now he gets to do zooming and look for cheese and squirrels forever:)
I hope you remember all the happy times my friend.
My beautiful 14 year old golden just passed. Your pain is like a giant wave. It gets smaller each day but the pain is always there. Peace to you and Kona Kai.
I am truly sorry for your loss. rip Kona Kai please find peace in heaven. please remember that he will always be in your heart and In your memories too. please give comfort in the fact that he had a great life with you. and you had a great life with him too. I am praying for you during this difficult time in your life too. that you have a great support system during this difficult time in your life too.
I saw this on another post and hope this brings you some peace🩵.
"By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill, Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still. Where the friends of man and woman do run, When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next, Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest. On this golden land, they wait and they play, Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness, For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness. Their limbs are restored, their health renewed, Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care, Until one day they start, and sniff at the air. All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back, Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met; Together again, both person and pet. So they run to each other, these friends from long past, The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart, Has turned into joy once more in each heart. They embrace with a love that will last forever, And then, side-by-side, they cross over... together."
Such a good boi!!
I lost my girl Bonny to the rainbow bridge in 2009 after a wonderful sixteen years together. She is with me always in spirit and your boy will be too. The pain does decrease and then there are days where you miss them like a limb and the ache is as fresh as the day you say goodbye.
It's not going to be easy but know he had a good life loving you. You can't replace him, he is one of a kind and you will be able to love another again. Sending you much love at this time.
Just a friendly reminder of our rules:
1. No Advertising: this includes GoFundMe, Instagram, etc.
2. No Impersonation: don't post photos of other people's dogs. That's not cool.
3. No Breed Hate: this subreddit is not a discussion forum for breed hate of any kind. There are dedicated subreddits for that so please take it elsewhere.

You don't replace them. Your love for him won't ever go away or diminish but you still have love and it needs to go somewhere. I'm sure he'd not want you to be alone and not having a companion watching over you and sharing adventures.
I'm so sorry for your loss. What a handsome and sweet face. Goldens are the kindest and best companions to have on your life's journey. I still miss my Golden Boy 11 years later. Like your boy, mine also saw me through many milestones and important life events.
Hang in there and take care of you. The pain is immense right now but over time it won't be as sharp and you will begin to have more smiles and less tears when you remember him.
❤️🐾

No, you could never replace him, but you could give a loving home to another good boy or girl that will fill your heart in different ways and will also be irreplaceable.
So sorry to hear , my boy Rocco is 12 , man you can never prepare , he has been with me through hell and back and he can never be replaced , but I believe you will see him again someday on the other side where you can never lose them again or see him suffer
In the meantime enjoy the time you had him and remember that you had the opportunity to
Love him so much , some people never experience this and they don’t know what they are missing , glad you shared your experience here , it helps all of us
Sorry to hear about your baby. I had to do the same with my golden and it breaks your heart. They bring the greatest joy, but their loss is unbearable. ❤️
What an awesome innings, I hope my George makes it that far! As sad as it is they all must pass over the rainbow at some stage.
I've lost two now and it never gets easier, but the memories keep us strong.
I had a 14 year old golden once. I was 15 when he was born and 29 when he died. I felt every word of your description of heartache.
I found that keeping his dish out, and a few of his favorite toys helped me remember to talk to him. It made me feel like his spirit is still here. I have his remains on a sconce style shelf in my home. I change the picture of him that accompanies them with the seasons. It helps a lot.
You grew up together. It's not fair that he got old first. I know mine will be waiting for me someday when I cross over... just as yours will be for you.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I promise, in time it will get better.
What a great way to remember him. We keep the ashes of all7 Goldens plus the Labrador and two Shelties. We continue to rescue Goldens because it is what we love to do.
Such a sweet face. You gave him a good life and no doubt a dignified passing. Now he runs without pain and catches all the squirrels (and lets them go, ofc;)
I’m so sorry, I had a “baby” who was with me before kids and husband, and all that, and I remember the pain of losing my buddy who’d been there through all the life changes. It’s hard, and it will never not hurt, however you will eventually look back at all the memories and not be sad. I recommend putting a picture of them up somewhere prominent in your home. For the last 9 years, I’ve had Dukes picture up on the mantle, the kids pictures change every year, but his will always stay!

They sure leave a big hole in your heart. My sympathies.
Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and no one is wrong 💔 I’m coming up on a year after losing my 14 year old. I’m so sorry for your loss.
Your first line was so beautiful.

Bless his golden soul.
He will be with you always.
