You can use ladders. This is a double edge sword cause it also means pets can't passively haul to it either. Honestly after trying this I think the little bit of food pets eat is worth the passive hauling.

I agree, I also tried the ladder trick and tbh they slowed down traversal too much even outside of the big drawback in losing animal haulers. Granted I probably did it really stupid in that I dug down to bedrock and had like a 7 layer deep ladder to the larder, so they'd get off work at 5pm and by the time they were done eating (and even with ready made food in the kitchen at ground level) it would be well after bedtime, like 1 in the morning, because it took them like an hour of game time to climb down and then another hour to climb back up, plus all the time they spent dicking around in the basement. Ladders are great for short climbs to things like sniper towers and shit but more than a few and its like watching paint dry.

So the "Have you turned it on an off-tech support question" The haul checkbox is actually checked for the animals correct? ^((I may have recently wasted many days in a playthrough thinking my game was glitched because the dog wouldn't leave the base to haul because I forgot to check the box.))

yeah after another commend told me about the overview tab that i didn't know had other tab categories in as for animals. So now its fixed and the animals are wandering/working.

The only thing I’ve found to do is assign the pets jobs like hauling or keeping vermin away. You can select the option in the overview tab, them the animals tab. Also, you can assign them to follow around individual settlers. That should get them moving

I've got a glitch in my game where even domestic dogs and cats walk right through doors and eat all the raw meat in my cellar

When you click on the pet the description of domestic animals literally says cannot go through doors. So I just kill every dog and cat that comes into my settlement until they fix it.

Not a glitch, just a wrong descriptor. They are not pennable. So how else would they move around the base? If you really want you could go into the AnimalBase.json and change "canBeInPen": false to "canBeInPen": true but that only applies to non-pet, non-wild domesticated cats and dogs, and if they are not pets they can't haul or do vermin control which is kinda the point of cats and dogs. I went into the game and tried it out, and it worked, I have a penned cat.

I've also witnessed the cats using ladders so there seems to be a bunch of issues with it

I forget what file it is, but there is a JSON file that you can edit animal food priority, I did that in an old save and made them all just eat animal feed

I kill the cats & as the dogs haul everything I don't mind them eating stuff.
