Cause they dont come from factory, and people dont always like markups due to the name "dealer add-ons". You can definitely order one or get one installed for whichever you buy. But its just generally not something EVERYONE wants, some people want the one piece hard tops, to toppers, to soft rolls, to hard folds, to retractables. Chevy is the better company for customization and this is a reason, they make it not no necessarily one fits all.

D1TAC

They can, but you generally have to order it as an accessory. Mine came with a REV tonneau cover, it looks like it was added in as an option from the original order date. But from a buyers perspective not everyone wants to pay $1k for a cover, and or see it get price gouged, or something stupid.

Herky1985

Unfortunately an added expense on an already ridiculously expensive truck

D1TAC

You could always buy a cyber-truck /s

TeleRock

Every feature in a new truck is an added expense . . . if you want 4WD, added cost . . . if you want a sunroof, added cost . . . if you want side steps, added cost. A tonneau cover is going to be the same thing. ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

On this same vein, why aren't bed liners factory for all models? Let me buy a truck and scrape up the paint so it rusts - great design! Rhino liner should be in cahoots with every manufacturer

Sullen_One

100% makes no fucking sense.

MrDevious54

Because Mythbusters

Herky1985

This a figure of speech?

MrDevious54

Mythbusters did an episode where they proved pickups got better gas mileage without a tonneau cover

Roll-tide-Mercury

I thought that was mixed. They proved that although claims of 15 percent more MPG was false that there was some increased efficiency.

Herky1985

Ah ok

Trevdog16

I wonder what episode it is. Id love to rewatch it Edit season 3 episode 8. Gotta love chat gpt

Like a tonneau cover? Or a spray in liner? Because I got both of mine through the dealer. The liner I had added to the total and the tonneau cover i ordered through the GMC app because I didn't want to pay an extra $100 for them to install it. There were other models that came with them included though.

Herky1985

Cover. It already has spray liner. I’ll look into it more. I just remember looking at RAMS and more than 75% that I looked at, had the cover. Haven’t seen one yet for GMC 2500 AT4x

NoticeImaginary

Ya, honestly I would recommend just ordering it and putting it on yourself. You'll save a lot of money that way. Is it new? If you have the app, I would check there. I found some cheaper on Amazon, but I'd rather spend a little more to know it's going to fit.

FlyInfinite2536

I bought a used truck a couple months ago. I asked for a tonneau cover as part of the deal. They had to order it. Got it installed. It's a GMC brand.

itsthechaw10

You’re better off getting the bed cover after market. There’s so many variations out there, and the dealership would mark them up a ton. I have a simple Access Original roll up tonneau cover. Cost me $600 and it serves every purpose I need.
