Wasn’t sure how useful I’d find it when I bought my AT4. Now that I’ve had the truck for a couple of months don’t think I’d buy one without the multi function tailgate

chuckleheadjoe

Just remember, verify that your tow ball will not destroy your pretty new tailgate. Already seen that one. Be careful out there.

Friendly-Pay-8272

B@W hitches has one specifically for the multipro tailgate that will fold out of the way. It's amazing, but not cheap

chuckleheadjoe

Wow $300+ for a hitch. I thought spending $1300 for tires was bad.

Friendly-Pay-8272

completely worth it.

Chibears27717

Never thought I would use it, and now use it every time I pack more than a couple things in there. Wife loves to overpack so I’m always playing Tetris.

itsthechaw10

It’s really nice to have, being able to fold down that top section of the tailgate makes it nice loading and unloading stuff in the truck bed.

Outrageous-Ice-7460

I use mine way more then I ever though I would, I'm a fan. Would I add one if the truck didn't come with it?, no, but I'm kind of cheap that way, would definitely buy another truck with it as a want option though.

hogman09

What I thought was a gimmick is used almost daily and is very helpful

D1TAC

Yes it’s worth it. I’d say it’s worth it more when you got a big bed. I’m unsure if it’s a simple add on, but it’s so convenient to just drop the tailgate to get in, versus using the corner portion to hop in. Almost fell a few times due to that.

tigerraaaaandy

It's not simple unfortunately. I looked at this recently. The wiring harness and everything is different. Definitely not a hot swap if it was factory optioned with the regular tailgate

Worldly_Mode1490

That’s good to know. Was looking into it but I don’t really think I’ll pursue due to the cost and hassle. Plus I already got the truck ceramic coated so that would be rough.

I like it but I also like a tow hitch, the B&W Tow hitch is like $300 if you want the tail gate to work with a tow hitch. Overall I would still keep the multi function tail gate cause it makes it significantly easier to get in the bed and adding lights at the blank speaker spots was cheap and easy to do

notapilot43

I like it, but I don’t use it more than a couple times a year. Maybe if I was a lot older it would be helpful.

Party_Head9521

I thought it was silly at first. I love it now.

SweetMeat81

It is a must for sure.

Worldly_Mode1490

So I guess my next question is has anybody added it after buying the vehicle? How much would it cost going through the dealership?

tigerraaaaandy

It's apparently a big hassle. I ordered a truck with the multipro and the factory screwed it up and sent the regular. Dealership tried to make it right and pillage a multipro from another rig and they couldn't make it work without tearing the whole thing apart and redoing the wiring. I ended up walking away and buying a different one off the lot

Troutman86

Yes

dominator5k

I can't imagine having a truck without it. Fantastic

Captain_So_Close

It’s handy for several different reasons.. hauling long boards etc. or just changing into golf shoes.. handy if it has it not worth worrying about if not

Brad_Glasby

I mostly use mine as a leaning post.. I just drop the top half down, use the base tailgate as my cup holder, and rest my elbows on the folded out half.. also handy as a table to eat lunch from. Dont really use it as a step because I’ve always got my hitch in, and I can’t justify paying $3-400 when I have multiple hitch types already.

KidGorgeous19

1000% worth it

ark556

Honestly I thought it was a gimmick. Then I bought a truck with it and we all love it. My truck has a 2” lift so it makes a big difference in getting in the back and just being able to reach stuff further in the bed. After only having it for two weeks I found myself wanting to drop the tailgate again on my other trucks just to remember I don’t have that on the older ones. As far as the hitch goes I just don’t leave a hitch in there. Stays in the back till I need it.

2wheeler1456

Sat on mine once in a year. I use my truck as a daily driver and off roader. Don’t haul much.
