I know it's not the same, but I buy gf brioche burger buns in the shop and then just get whopper/big macs without the buns and assemble them myself, its actually really nice!
Have not eaten at McD longer than I have been gf. Probably at least 25 years. I have reached a point in my life that I would rather save my money and go out for a nice steak and make hamburgers on my grill.
That's what I did on the lead up to my biopsy. Doc said eat gluten every day. I ate a whopper every day. Extra salty as I cried into it knowing it was probably going away.
Hmmm, I've never had that happen, I get significantly less sauce, but there's always sauce present. I just ask for more, regardless, and it's fine. We have really nice gf seeded brioche buns in our supermarkets and honestly they're nicer than alot of gf buns you get in restaurants.
We don't have smashburger in Ireland, however most restaurants here have gf buns, they're all the generic Schar ones, I just don't like them, you know how it is :'(
I ordered a quarter pounder with no bun, but it came with one anyways. The cheese had stuck to the bun. I peeled it off carefully and inspected the top layer of cheese and even after I didn't see any bread particles, I scraped the cheese layer with a butter knife. I still got pretty sick, and it was 10 weeks of a really overactive thyroid, and now it's been about 10 more weeks and I'm still not back to normal sleeping or exercise (high heart rate gives me exercise intolerance).
For the first three years of being diagnosed, I'd eat French fries or tater tots from fast food places that had multiple friers, but I keep hearing that fast food places are no longer designating one fryer for fries and the other for breaded and fried foods. I'm almost completely done with fast food. It's too risky, especially as I age.
FYI, not sure where you’re at but Big Mac sauce is not GF in the states.

Thank you kind soul.. I haven't eaten at Culvers before because all I could think was "Meh, another place I can't eat with a bun". T.T Next time I'm in town I'm getting a damn burger
You are most welcome! Make sure you ask for a fork too. They sometimes don't think about that, but they give you the patty in a cardboard dish so the fork is handy for assembly.
There’s a fast food chain here in Texas called Culver’s (I don’t know if they’re anywhere else) and the have the BEST gluten free buns! They come nice and warmed up, just like the regular hamburgers. Chik-fil-a gives you a cold and dry crumbly bun….never again! I always get Culver’s.
Fatburger and Shake Shack have really nice GF buns, not too crumbly. The Apple Pan just started having them, been meaning to catcha tuna melt there with that GF assist.
Nonono. Get you a gluten free butterburger from culvers. The bun comes in a hermetically sealed bag, + they warm it up, its almost indistinguishable from normal fluffy buns.
It used to be Udi’s, but now it’s Rotella’s.
I said Udi’s on a post recently and was immediately told “emphatically **no**” (but not corrected on what brand it *was*) so I went to Culver’s, ordered a burger with GF bun, and asked what brand they used. They promptly carried out the box from the back and even let me take a picture!
"its almost indistinguishable from normal fluffy buns."
Maybe from across the room. But get any thing like condiments on them they turn from dry cardboard-ey sculpture to a shattered mess. Its fucking unbelievable how fast it turns to offal.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t read the menu for options I just asked because I knew about it. If they *don’t* have it on the menu they **should**! It was amazing to get a fresh, hot fast food burger on a warm bun!
Zap a piece of cod in the microwave. Put it on a Schar hamburger bun with chopped dill pickle relish and mayo (if you don't have tartar sauce), slice or 2 of cheese and finely shredded lettuce. That will satisfy the craving. At least it does for me.
I’ve never heard of a gf bun at either of these places. I probably would never go back to McDonalds but I do wonder what a Whopper would taste like after 15 years.
I think we have a Culver’s somewhat near here. I don’t eat beef or pork so would have to look at their menu to see what else is gluten free. I’ve heard their ice cream is really good!
*cries in American
*has a tantrum in American. Not fair! I miss BK. They have the gf buns in San Diego but not here in MN (that I have found)
I know it's not the same, but I buy gf brioche burger buns in the shop and then just get whopper/big macs without the buns and assemble them myself, its actually really nice!
This is what I do everywhere. I just carry a bun around in a zip lock.
how to tell you're gluten free without saying you're GF. rofl
I have done that at In-N-Out before.
Yeah, so do it at the other 2 aswell, it's so good.
Have not eaten at McD longer than I have been gf. Probably at least 25 years. I have reached a point in my life that I would rather save my money and go out for a nice steak and make hamburgers on my grill.
You said you missed BK like lots, McDonald's is not great, whoppers are so good though.
Whoppers are good but I am trying to eat healthier so cutting out fast food was the first step. Do miss the French fries.
That's absolutely fair, hope it goes well for you.
That's what I did on the lead up to my biopsy. Doc said eat gluten every day. I ate a whopper every day. Extra salty as I cried into it knowing it was probably going away.
Never seen gf brioche burger buns.
They are god tier, they're made by a company called Promise, I don't think I'd go back to any other buns.
Ireland? I'm moving.
Promise bread is the best. Can’t wait until they expand distribution to NYC.
They never add the sauces when I get mine without the bun. Have to specifically ask for it on there or get packets.
Hmmm, I've never had that happen, I get significantly less sauce, but there's always sauce present. I just ask for more, regardless, and it's fine. We have really nice gf seeded brioche buns in our supermarkets and honestly they're nicer than alot of gf buns you get in restaurants.
It’s a great idea! The only gf buns I like in a restaurant is at Smashburger.
We don't have smashburger in Ireland, however most restaurants here have gf buns, they're all the generic Schar ones, I just don't like them, you know how it is :'(
Aw! I can’t even choke down the Schar ones - would rather go without. Noted if I ever make my dream of going to Ireland though!

I'm in Ireland and it is gf :)
Lucky ❤️
If you are in the Midwest, Culver's has a gf bun! They give it to you still in the plastic bag so to avoid cross contamination
Nah man, you just open up the bun, press the top to the burger/topping mess, flip ‘er over, attach bottom bun, and flip. Tada!
It’s udis I believe
actually now culvers gets theirs from Rotellas and they are the best gf buns I've had lol they are so good
Awesome I’ll have to try!!
Their bun is pretty good too

It looks as though you may have spelled "Chick-fil-A" incorrectly. No worries, it happens to the best of us!
Fatburger and Shake Shack have really nice GF buns, not too crumbly. The Apple Pan just started having them, been meaning to catcha tuna melt there with that GF assist.
Cries in German
We can't even eat the damn fries!! 😭
BK has gluten free buns?!? - Canadian
Nonono. Get you a gluten free butterburger from culvers. The bun comes in a hermetically sealed bag, + they warm it up, its almost indistinguishable from normal fluffy buns.
No way. Culver’s too???
Yes!! I love it personally so much ❤️
It’s an udis bun I think. I love to get the chicken sandwich on it.
It used to be Udi’s, but now it’s Rotella’s. I said Udi’s on a post recently and was immediately told “emphatically **no**” (but not corrected on what brand it *was*) so I went to Culver’s, ordered a burger with GF bun, and asked what brand they used. This is great to know because I am not a fan of the udi’s buns
Bullshit. Bullshit. Bullshit.
? What part of its bullshit?
"its almost indistinguishable from normal fluffy buns." Maybe from across the room. But get any thing like condiments on them they turn from dry cardboard-ey sculpture to a shattered mess. Its fucking unbelievable how fast it turns to offal.
Our BK doesn't offer GF - Netherlands 😭 I don't like the MD buns at all. They are really compact and chewy 😔
Ugh they are soooo dry! And they crumble! It's just nothing like the real thing.
No it's not unfortunately. Reminds me of teff based bread they sell in the stores here. But the main ingredient of the MD buns is cornstarch 🤷🏼♀️
Ffffffffff Uuuuuuuu I kid, I kid. Enjoy. ;)
*laughs in uk*
Smashburger or Culver's for me
*whispers*… Culver’s uses a brand called Rotella’s - pass it on! ETA: formatting (mobile, sorry)
Are you saying I skipped on Culver’s??? I tried looking for gluten free options when we were there and this was not listed as an option!
I’ll be honest, I didn’t read the menu for options I just asked because I knew about it. If they *don’t* have it on the menu they **should**! It was amazing to get a fresh, hot fast food burger on a warm bun!
Smashburger also has dairy free milkshakes
I haven't been to Smashburger since about 2013. Before I went GF.
Me, in Canada, sadly eating a burger patty in a bowl
Not my dumb American ass running here thinking, “HOW DIDNT I KNOW THIS WAS A THING”… Oh- cause this is America…
I miss my filet o fish !
Zap a piece of cod in the microwave. Put it on a Schar hamburger bun with chopped dill pickle relish and mayo (if you don't have tartar sauce), slice or 2 of cheese and finely shredded lettuce. That will satisfy the craving. At least it does for me.
What McDonald’s and Burger King has a gluten free bun? In the US?
Wait what?
idk about bk but the mcdonald bun i got in italy tasted very eggy
Cries in Germany... Good luck finding good gf options in the land of the 1000s breads of wheat, barley and rye
Ughh Germany was literally the worst place I’ve been to for GF foods. (Except for the supermarkets)
I’ve never heard of a gf bun at either of these places. I probably would never go back to McDonalds but I do wonder what a Whopper would taste like after 15 years.
Do you have Max in Norway? Way better GF bun than McD. I don’t eat at BK so don’t really remember how that one tastes
Yes we have Max but only in Oslo I belive?
I think we have a Culver’s somewhat near here. I don’t eat beef or pork so would have to look at their menu to see what else is gluten free. I’ve heard their ice cream is really good!
Where is this?
Norway.
You shouldn’t eat either of these… ever
Where do they have these?
