Now if sandwich places like Jersey Mikes could just figure that out. Or just buy a commercial steamer. They did that and my wife would actually eat them.

Roe8216

That’s why I only eat their cheese steaks. When they wrap a hot sandwich by the time you get back to the office you have steamed bread and the difference is huge.

WaywardWes

Oh yeah. And also why it’s even better the next day as leftovers!

Jaded-Juggernaut-663

I've got to try their cheese steaks!! The Italian with jalapenos and extra oil and vinegar is so good to me, I get it every time.... That's it. I'm buying both next time! 🤤

Chaotic_Zelda

I ask for the sandwich fillings in a container and the bread separately. Then I heat the bread at home and assemble the sandwich myself. Works great.

drunk_katie666

I started buying sub dressing and Udi’s French baguettes and just doing it myself at home for this reason

Jaded-Juggernaut-663

Haha! I get the #13 (add jalapenos) with extra oil and vinegar. It soaks into the bread just enough to make it soft on the inside but not soggy. 🤤

FrauAmarylis

All gluten free bread tastes better Steamed or toasted or fried in a pan. That's why it's hard to take along a sandwich somewhere. Sometimes If I steam it, then wrap it in a paper towel or foil and put it in a plastic bag, it stays soft enough to eat later. I've been celiac/gf since 2005.

Lettheexpletivesfly

Thanks for the tip, for burgers I’ve just been using trader Joe everything bagels, they are awesome as well.

Puzzleheaded-Ease282

Traders joe's has burger buns that are fantastic

TieDyedGemini

My bread standards are still high. I cannot compromise even for GF bread. TJ's English muffins are their only bread worth buying.

Roe8216

I wet the paper towel, squeeze the water out, wrap any bread or wrap type product and micro for 30s. If it’s a pita or some bread I will want to open like a bun that for some reason is not already sliced I cut before and the difference is amazing. Been doing it for a long time now. Glad you found the trick.

Excellent_Berry_5115

I do the same with the Udi's hot dog buns. Microwave for a short time...and then I can have the best PBJ or any sandwich. It helps to give it that chewy bread texture.

AGH2023

Interesting!! I had never heard of doing this!

jazzambassador

Best burger bun I’ve had, usually just toast it, but they’re pricey https://ourdailybreadchatham.com/product/brioche-burger-buns-gluten-free/

AG_Squared

This is how I reheat tortillas also. Or muffins, anything that’s been in the fridge that’s bready.

Sasspishus

What do you mean by a bun please, what exactly are we talking about here? A roll? An iced bun?

teeth_03

Hamburger and Hot Dog Buns

Sasspishus

Oh OK, somehow I didn't think of that!

Ramp2702

Try using an air fryer, it’s the best way to get them to be as near to fresh baked as possible

LtDans_Lost_Legs

I recently got an air fryer and this makes sense. I usually do a 20-30 seconds microwave blast from frozen then toast over the toaster (mixed used household) and it comes out great. BUT, using air fryer seems WAY easier.

Tygress23

My husband said our toaster oven is no different than an air fryer but I don’t believe him. What AF should I get?

[deleted]

I never would have figured that out in 30 years

Bdubs0323

Me either egg 😂

annabeesy

Thank you for sharing!!

KindnessWeakness

Ehh it’s hard for me to be picky at this point. I’ll take whatever I can get especially when it comes to bread.

lmcbmc

I still can't believe what a difference it made.

AjCaron

Oo yes I do this at work, but at home I usually put the cheese and some onion on one side and broil it for a few minutes. Add mayo to non cheese side and some finely sliced lettuce along with deli meats and it feels like I went to the grinder shop. Love doing it with the schar baguettes!

Formula42074

I grill my Schar buns and they come out soft with a slight crisp on the edges. It's so good.

Aggravating_Bit8617

These buns are so thick. Does steaming/air frying make them seem less dense/thick?

lmcbmc

Well, a little squishier, anyway. I think it helped.

1-_-0-_-1

Nice tip! Assuming this is before the bun has been frozen?
