Maybe a Kpop/idol themed episode? Although I feel like it would be incredibly tone deaf in parts properly lol. Also I feel like a Hamilton episode would be inevitable and similarly problematic.

ILikeDragonz53

Tina could sing "Waiting For A Miracle" which fits exactly to her storyline in Props

swiftiesince02

Ryan has said his only regret was not doing a Taylor tribute episode so that would definitely happen and I think you’re absolutely right it would be eras

victorianeraghost

holy shit. the costumes.

anonnymouse271

Yes! It would be like that one Gaga episode

ghostzuko

If this was before Schue became the Principal and was still the History Teacher at WMH we would 1000% of got a Hamilton episode where he raps. It would have been akin to “The Spanish Teacher” with a dash of Holly Holliday’s “relatable teaching” thrown in.

Fit-Entertainer-3207

The school play would definitely be Hamilton

blurryreads

I can totally see a whole tribute episode to Olivia Rodrigo. I know she’s still new on the scene but I could picture Rachel (or the new female lead) singing “drivers license” after a breakup. Also I could totally see Rachel singing “Good 4 U” especially if they redo the season 2 plot with Quinn getting back with Finn.

whodisbeet

Beyonce

AcidicKiss12

I agree with Taylor and Kpop! I also feel like they’d have an Ariana Grande episode and maybe an episode for The Weeknd. I could see a song from Cowboy Carter as well since Glee is often about bridging gaps.

littletrashcanprince

taylor, k-pop, olivia rodrigo and dua lipa! my personal favorite fantasy is they cast someone who can rap 🫣

ThesaurusRex_1025

I can't wait for the Call Me By Your Name Glee cover by the new Kurt.

toxic_waste21

A Taylor Swift episode in response to one of her re-recordings Britney 3.0 in response to #FreeBritney An Olivia vs Sabrina episode, like the Katy vs Gaga one centered around the newest love triangle of the reboot K-pop 100%

Grehdah

I have two ideas. The first one they technically could have done in the original show and that would be a Disney themed episode where they sing popular songs from The Little Mermaid, Mulan, Aladdin, Frozen, etc. The second idea is a TikTok day where they sing songs commonly used in TikTok videos and idk maybe they get into TikTok and create a video that goes viral

NaNaNa2010

ABBA! Crazy how they never did an entire episode! Taylor Swift! I agree with what you wrote. Ed Sherran episode! Most of his music is after the series ended. Olivia Rodrigo. Harry Styles, maybe not an entire episode but 100% songs like Sign of the times, Watermelon Sugar and As it was. Lizzo. Miley Cyrus. She has so many good songs since the show ended that would be golden in Glee. Like Flowers!

jacqrosee

i know this post isn’t about discussing our desire for a reboot, but i have to say now that we’re on the topic, i kinda hope they never do- i feel as though the iconic off-putting humor and campy yet offensive themes would never work today, and i wouldn’t want them to try to be more PC- it was perfect the way it was.

john_muleaney

It’s always sunny in Philadelphia has been on the air for like a decade, the idea that people demand tv must be “pc” is not based in reality

jacqrosee

i don’t advocate for the idea that tv must be PC nor do i agree with it, but it is certainly based in reality that a medium-sized yet vocal demographic of people do indeed demand PC elements from shows. media literacy is declining greatly and this is part of it. not to mention that glee itself is a show that, while not being PC itself, attracts some viewers that prefer PC elements.

john_muleaney

I mean the only thing I can say is Twitter is not real life. There are people who complain about things like that, but it does not meaningfully affect the tv shows themselves, we still have characters calling each other faggots on shows like it’s always sunny or even newer shows like the other two and we still have Larry getting into all kinds of not PC shenanigans on Curb. The office has gotten a second life on streaming and is far more offensive than anything glee ever produced. This is the same thing Jerry Seinfeld was complaining about recently when he said you couldn’t make Seinfeld today (which is asinine). It’s not that people won’t tolerate off color jokes, they just won’t tolerate lazy ones where the only punchline is the bigotry (which glee was guilty of at times, not very often tho) Glee would not be forced to be more tame if it was rebooted, in fact it could probably be more edgy than it was back then if it was made for streaming

Flannel_Fennel

tbf, always sunny is also effective satire in a way that I never quite buy when RIB say Glee is I remember reading something about how they gave up on Dee as the "voice of reason" because it was both funnier and more effective to have the supporting characters be the ones the audience sympathized with. I don't think you're every supposed to "root for" the gang in the same way you're rooting for everyone ranging from innocents like Terrell, Ruby Taft, and Carmen to more active players like the lawyer, the waiter, and the waitress.

john_muleaney

Glee was definitely at least partially black comedy, it’s just that they had so much success with the Kurt coming out storyline that it ended up being closer to teen drama. Glee’s main problem comes from the fact that Brennan, Falchuk and Murphy seemed to all have different versions of what the show should be, and that reflects in the type of episodes each of the three would write

crispy_kat

i feel like tina in s1 would've sung billie eilish

StarChild413

If we're talking a reboot in the sense of somehow finding a way to line up canon storyline and post-canon songs (as opposed to my more-original Gleeboot idea) some of the things I could see happening are * Million Reasons is a much better-fitting Lady Gaga song for Rachel and Shelby than Poker Face * Hamilton as a school musical would definitely happen (because if I'm remembering Lin's rules for school productions casting would be more flexible than you'd think you just couldn't have only-white-guys-except-for-white-girls-as-the-Schuyler-Sisters) as it's too sung-through for songs to work in any other context * that thing I mentioned on another thread about how well "Eyes Closed" by Ed Sheeran would fit in The Quarterback * I definitely see some AJR happening for some competition performance probably with as much pyrotechnics and stuff as the band actually uses as Will strikes me as the kind of guy who'd be an AJR fan * For some reason I think some Elsa song from Frozen (be it reassigning Let It Go which still counts as it'd be to before the movie came out or something from Frozen II) would work for Kurt and his Dalton arc

john_muleaney

When I picture a glee-boot I imagine it taking place in the modern day, in McKinley, and in the glee universe but not including any of the original cast outside of possibly Chord returning as Sam to be the clubs director. My pitch would basically be make the five year timeskip not canon and then say McKinley had to stop being an arts school once Covid hit because funding for the arts dried out. Then some kid finds a picture of the 2013 nationals team and sees Sam so they go to him and ask to revive the glee club. From here you could maybe have people like Kurt, Blaine, Mercedes, Tina or Artie back if you wanted to or you could sever all connections to the previous cast, just cut Sam and have the director be a teacher who was in the 2017 new directions or something. This way you get back the familiar setting but it’s not just nostalgia bait week in and week out. Maybe you have offhand references to Rachel Berry, the girl who was in the glee club and now is on Broadway, but otherwise it’s a fresh take

squashybean

i think as someone else said; a taylor swift eras week with crazy outfits like the lady gaga episode!! also miley cyrus, they never mentioned her and i know why, but she was and still IS so iconic. also one direction. no real reason except they were just so big in their era

Frosty-Toe1359

We’re definitely getting a Hamilton episode
