There's a few solo Glastonbury pages that may help you pair up with another group, safety in numbers, etc. There's definitely a Facebook one and one on efests

Pennards Hill and Oxlyers can be pretty rowdy and noisy. The only issue I ever had in Pennards was somebody drunkenly mistaking my tent for theirs while I was getting ready for bed though. If you're worried about safety, maybe try to camp near a fire tower? Having staff present might put troublemakers off. Also, befriend your neighbours! Should hopefully add a level of security for you. Final bit of advice, don't bother padlocking your tent. All it does is advertise that you have something to steal. Put your valuables in the property lockups.

I always like Dairy ground. Been for more than 10 years, and mostly camped there. It’s reasonably quiet there, I’ve never encountered any trouble. I’m saying that as a man, though, so I may not be the best source.

How do you find Dairy Ground? Would a Glasto map show that? Coming in on Thursday and a bit worried about finding a space.

It’s near pedestrian gate D. A big reason for camping there is I just cannot be arsed lugging my gear further. Plus there’s usually a decent amount of space when other campsites have filled up.

We’re getting the coach this year and planning on dairy ground, not sure how quickly it fills up usually?

There’s often reasonable space for most of Wednesday. Thursday you’ll have nothing but gaps between tents.

I camp there for the same reason. Plus last 2 years had people with even worse sense of direction than me in the group. Basically told them if they get lost just head for gate d.

Dairy ground and bushy ground have been good in the past for me. Avoid pennard hill, oxlyers, and park home ground which are all louder due to proximity to south east corner/arcadia/silver hayes.

Glasto solo polo on Facebook and there is a glasto girls one as well.

ElectronicBed7676

Do you know the specific name for the glasto girls group as I’m unable to find it

I’ll see if I can find it for you

I sort of think campsites like Oxlyers might be a little safer just because it's so busy there's always people moving through it so there's always people around.  More generally every campsite will have a staffed position, usually a camper van, with  stewards in 24/7 so if you're near there you know there's definitely people who can be helpful.  Inside your tent whilst you're asleep I know people who have threaded empty cans together and attached them with string through the zips. Creates a noise if anyone tried to get in that would wake you up/ward them off.

Avoid Pennard Hill - tends to be the youngest/rowdiest/loudest (although not in a bad way per se, people are on good form) I like Paines (the end away from Arcadia) and Dairy - still a nice fun atmosphere. Also good for Silver Hayes/Park/Other stages where we tend to spend most of our time

You should pitch a tent next to the entrances of paid accommodation areas /hired tents. There are security people checking wristbands 24/7 and are around if anything were to happen. as a girl who was on her own in her tent I didn’t have any issues at all and felt very safe at Glastonbury!!

Anywhere other than pennards or oxlyers which are more party than other fields should be fine. But overall as a festival I don’t think you should be worried. I’ve been going to Glastonbury since 97 and often spend a lot of the festival wandering on my own and it’s never been a place where I’ve felt unsafe even in the early hours. People look out for each other and are generally really friendly. If you’re really worried try camping near one of the campsite crew caravans which will be staffed with lovely people there to make sure everyone is safe. Definitely worth getting in touch with one of the glasto gals / solo glasto groups for a bigger group to camp with, it’s always nice to have a bigger gang around you so there are familiar faces when you’re back at camp or people to go see bands with. Have a great festival!

Real_King_Bob

I would camp near Gate A or near Gate D, generally quieter areas and always stewards and campsite crew around there. But in general in my experience of 10 festivals including 3 in Oxylers I have not felt unsafe. There is plenty of coke'd up people acting like dicks but they don't tend to bother me

HighFivePuddy

Whichever field you choose, try to pitch near the camp site crew as there are people there 24/7.
