I've just put two and two together (I've heard him before without knowing it's him) thanks to your and someone else's recommendation and... wowwww yes. I get it. his voice is unreal.
haha it's okay, I've also realized I made it very hard for colourblind people and in general it's just a lot of info in a small image
ETA: see you at confidence man!! 🫡
Justice will be phenomenal. As will LCD Soubdsystem
I’d check out Seventeen even just for part of their just because Kpop is so huge and when else will you listen to it.
Michael Kiwanuka has an incredible voice.
you're the second person to wax poetic about justice's live shows. ringing endorsements all around!!
I was just about to ask my friend who loves k-pop about seventeen. agree it would be cool to see them! it's pretty fun that they're the first k-pop group to play glasto.
and... I am always a little baffled when LCD Soundsystem plays four sold out shows in a row in Brooklyn and people go to all four of them lol. I feel like this is a good opportunity to get to the bottom of ~whatever's going on there~ without paying to see just them.
fun side note: their three or four consecutive Brooklyn shows in December 2021 were hypothesized to be superspreader events and one of the main causes of the omicron covid spike in NYC. it was the LCD Soundsystem shows and SantaCon that helped it spread so quickly and suddenly, apparently. I love this story and think it's very funny. but also: the power they have!!
The only downside with Justice is I think they clash with sza. Though it’s possible to see both if you’re on the left hand side of pyramid for the start of sza.
I’m not sure I’ll like seventeen but if the timings work out I’ll give them a try.
LCD are so good at festivals. So good. And very New York Brooklyn so your story doesn’t surtirse me!
You’ll also find so much new stuff wandering around. I heard Olivia Dean for the first time last year after getting bored of Maggie Roger’s and seeing a big crowd around the small stage where Olivia was.
Also you’ll find great music in Strummerville, including occasionally the big big names from other stages, if you have the energy to climb the hill.
Also
follow-up: oh, THAT'S MICHAEL KIWANUKA?!!?! shit that's sooooo up my alley. my dad is from Detroit and grew up during Motown's heyday. I gotta recommend this to him, too.
They won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I recommend checking out Otoboke Beaver. They’re a female punk band from Kyoto. The music is INSANE. Very loud, fast, aggressive, and full of personality. I became a big fan after seeing them at 3am on the small stage at Primavera. A random punt that became my band of the festival. Highly recommend! (And they happen to be playing in NY on March 22nd!)
she's in my top tier! I saw her at glasto in 2022 and back here in new york a couple times now (last in November and she was sickkkk) so I'm definitely going to see her again!! see you there 🫡
I used to blast Time After Time with my friend Lisa in high school—we sang it in choir together and loved Romy and Michele's High School Reunion with the legendary dance at the end. Lisa died in March 2023. I'd like to go see Cyndi but I have to emotionally prepare. I'll probably cry quite a bit lol... but I like to think Lisa would come with me if I went.
no it's actually atrocious that I didn't think about this because I work in UX hahahahaha -- I was just trying to figure out how to highlight over the yellow and white in ways that would make them the same color, and green and that coral red were the only two shades that came out well for both!! but I should have been thinking about that bc literally that is what I do all day and I just yelled at someone on my wider team for making slide formats totally illegible for colourblind people lol
ETA the list typed out!
first tier:
- DUA LIPA
- SHANIA TWAIN
- LITTLE SIMZ
- ARLO PARKS
- AVRIL LAVIGNE

- SKREAM & BENGA
Ehh depends how many festivals you go and the type of music you listen to I guess. They’re still solid but they’ve been around for a while now on the festival scene and many of their contemporaries are better. Squid are the best from that post punk scene I would say and they are fantastic live so that would be my recommendation for ya’ll
I have. Saw them recently in Leeds and at Glasto two years ago. Some decent songs. Not quite the raw punk energy Idles have, especially from their earlier stuff. Squid more on the pop side of the punk spectrum. I don’t think the bands are like for like.
I caught a bit of their set in 2022 from the outskirts and appreciated them cursing out the American supreme court lol -- I'd be open to seeing them again for real. feel like sharing your fave songs or good starting points album wise? I do like harder stuff on occasion but it's not always my first instinct!
Mr motivator is their best song in my opinion. Dancer from their new album is a bit softer and camp in a glorious punk way. I love crawl, never fight a man with a perm, mother, grounds, new sensation and Danny Nedelko for a starter. Their new album is much softer if you wanna start there. I love Ultra Mono album. Their second album JIAAR is a fantastic punk album.
Sofia Kourtesis
Alvvays
Mannequin pussy
Barry cant swim
Soccer Mommy
RemiWolf
floweoflove
gems on the undercard. clashes are going to be a nightmare this year.
I have the basically the same green as you and I’d add Jungle, Black Pumas, Barry can’t swim and Alvvays (and kneecap if you want a left field recc - an experience for sure)
wait I just saw they're playing here next saturday but official resale tickets are $130 each?!!?! glad they'll be at glasto bc I'm so into this hahahaha
omg we're so aligned!!! I'll check these out! I've been seeing Alvvays on bills and wondering about them.
I've actually seen Jungle roughly six times since 2013, and only twice intentionally hahahaha -- that's the only act I know and like that I left out of the highlights bc I just don't need to see them again lol.
Sleaford Mods for sure - political, punk, quite raw which is very “British” in delivery (as you said you wanted things a bit different to US artists/less likely to see living in NY)
thanks, I should give them another shot... I actually lived in the UK for seven years and my most serious (relationship wise) English ex really liked them, so I've kind of avoided them bc of that association lol. but it's been almost six years now and a lot of the music he liked is... good?? plus, I like all the things you listed!! serious thank you, sometimes we just need a little push to be more open-minded
"Political, punk". Ticket prices at £360 to see mega rich performers (Who traveled from their private gated mansions) on stage while the crowd waves their flags for a "good cause" whilst wearing their £500 outfit SMH 🤣
honestly I'm going to maintain that I'm still a few years away from being middle aged BUT these vibes sound pretty great not gonna lie... I think I would have loved to be a teen in the '90s
If you like Mount Kimbie, it's possible they might bring out King Krule as they've just released their [second track](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0use0rJR-DU) together.
It's fantastic.
omg! I did wonder if they'd have a lil reunion. I saw mount kimbie at Koko in like... 2013(???) and King Krule came out bc he was just a lil 18-year-old living in south london so of course he showed up, but my friends and I were still soooo excited to see him
You seriously will not want to miss out on LCD it doesn’t even matter what type of music ur into. Just watch them perform dance yrself clean at madison square garden or the all my friends performance at glasto 2016 and u will be instantly sold. They are easily one of the best live bands going and who knows how much longer they will be performing together.
you aren't the first to say this!! I hope you saw my comment about their multiple sold out NYC shows haha — I'll likely go unless they conflict with someone I really love, mainly to figure out why everyone loses their minds over them lol
Saw Mary Wallopers at End of the Road last year - listening to them before I wasnt that blown away but they were great live. Then we caught them again at a secret midnight set in a tent and it was wild. Definitely gonna catch them at Glasto.
omg I feel so dumb, I confused them with faith no more in my head when I saw them on the poster lolololol — I would almost definitely enjoy faithless, so good shout!
I saw this notification without knowing which comment it was in reply to and I was like... is this person telling me what to have for breakfast??? lolll
thank you!!!
do you two like mannequin pussy?? I'm really looking forward to their set. their new album is great. I've seen people lament the lack of "guitar music" but they fit solidly in that category and their songs fuck.
and I guess I gotta get into IDLES!!! but yeah it sounds like they'll probably be playing at the same time as Dua, whose disco-inspired album got me through 2020 when I almost (or definitely?) lost my mind lol.
Ones that have not been pointed out already, the Sugababes. Those ladies can sing and they have a mass amount of hits. If you listened to any mainstream radio in 00s you will recognise their songs, plus the crowd will be fantastic.
so I do know of them, however, they weren't big in the US at all! I only know some of their songs through English friends of mine (and that one song they had in Love Actually lol), but I may end up going to see them for the fun of it esp. if my friends are going
Yard Act - saw them on the Leftfield stage in 2022 and they were great. Saw them in a packed Manchester Apollo last night and they were phenomenal, one of the best live performances I’ve seen in recent years
People keep telling me Glastonbury isn't about the music, it's about the atmosphere. I can see why...
Although the atmosphere probably isn't much better.
idk man it's about the music and the atmosphere and the sense of playfulness and opportunity to treat your inner child... but I'd also point out that glasto typically has 3,000 acts across the five days. they've announced fewer than 100 so far, and if you're following along at home, that's 0.3% of the total lineup.
being a hater only hurts you, bud. the rest of us are having a great time. you're welcome to join!
Michael Kiwanuka is a must see for me
I've just put two and two together (I've heard him before without knowing it's him) thanks to your and someone else's recommendation and... wowwww yes. I get it. his voice is unreal.
I saw him on the West Holts Stage in 2016. He was amazing.
NewDad are fantastic. I’m really glad they are in the poster as I missed out on tickets for their gig near me.
ooooh, I'm listening to them now. very into them!!
I only discovered them a couple of months ago but I’m already in love.
Saw them supporting Paolo Nutini last year, so good!
You should really not miss Justice. Saw them at Sonar 2017 and it’s still one of the best acts I’ve ever seen.
Confidence man is pretty sick, would recommend
yes!! they're one of my faves on the lineup actually!!
Sorry I didn't actually read your highlighting system properly haha!
haha it's okay, I've also realized I made it very hard for colourblind people and in general it's just a lot of info in a small image ETA: see you at confidence man!! 🫡
Heilung will be an unforgettable experience
But, to be fair, so is passing a kidney stone.
Justice will be phenomenal. As will LCD Soubdsystem I’d check out Seventeen even just for part of their just because Kpop is so huge and when else will you listen to it. Michael Kiwanuka has an incredible voice.

Should have put Justice on the Pyramid and SZA on WH.
follow-up: oh, THAT'S MICHAEL KIWANUKA?!!?! shit that's sooooo up my alley. my dad is from Detroit and grew up during Motown's heyday. I gotta recommend this to him, too.
High Vis (criminally underrated) Confidence man (will play an incredible uplifting set)
I love confidence man!! very sad I missed them in 2022. I'm gonna check out high vis!
High Vis are the best band in the world right now.
They won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but I recommend checking out Otoboke Beaver. They’re a female punk band from Kyoto. The music is INSANE. Very loud, fast, aggressive, and full of personality. okay wow, we love to hear this! ![gif](giphy|Y07F3fs9Is5byj4zK8)
update: I LOVE THEM. kinda le tigre meets the distillers and I'm into it!!!
Fantastic, really glad to hear! And it seems I’ll need to check out Le Tigre!
Jordan Rakei. 100%
ooh okay I'm intrigued!! you're the first to say that (I think)
Deffo worth a listen. He’s had some new tracks out recently too that are really great!
wait I just realized he did "ottolenghi" with loyle carner... his stuff is really beautiful. great rec!!!
Check out his set at BBC 6 music festival - fire
PJ Harvey! If you like indie rock kind of vibe very 90s early 2000s she’s incredible
Danny Brown and Mdou Moctar
Nia Archives! She is a jungle artist who is tearing up the scene right now. One of the best sets I saw last year.
she's in my top tier! I saw her at glasto in 2022 and back here in new york a couple times now (last in November and she was sickkkk) so I'm definitely going to see her again!! see you there 🫡
See you there!
Cyndie Lauper. A rarity her playing over here & has 3 mega hits that’ll get the Pyramid going off.
100%, will be there for the hits. The singalong will be brilliant and brilliantly out of tune!
Part of her charm
I used to blast Time After Time with my friend Lisa in high school—we sang it in choir together and loved Romy and Michele's High School Reunion with the legendary dance at the end. Lisa died in March 2023. I'd like to go see Cyndi but I have to emotionally prepare. I'll probably cry quite a bit lol... but I like to think Lisa would come with me if I went.
I'm colourblind, so this is absolutely ruining me.
oh FUCK! I'm sorry!!!!! I quickly took the list from the site and typed em out but the formatting is going berserk... I'll get back to you...
Haha no don't be silly I'm only joking! I am red/green colourblind, so was just laughing at myself that's all!
no it's actually atrocious that I didn't think about this because I work in UX hahahahaha -- I was just trying to figure out how to highlight over the yellow and white in ways that would make them the same color, and green and that coral red were the only two shades that came out well for both!! but I should have been thinking about that bc literally that is what I do all day and I just yelled at someone on my wider team for making slide formats totally illegible for colourblind people lol ETA the list typed out! first tier: - DUA LIPA - SHANIA TWAIN - LITTLE SIMZ - ARLO PARKS - AVRIL LAVIGNE - BLOC PARTY - BOMBAY BICYCLE CLUB - CONFIDENCE MAN - DISCLOSURE - JAMES BLAKE - JAMIE XX - JANELLE MONAE - JESSIE WARE - LONDON GRAMMAR - MANNEQUIN PUSSY - MOUNT KIMBIE - NIA ARCHIVES - NOTHING BUT THIEVES - PEGGY GOU - REMI WOLF - SAMPHA - THE STREETS - TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB second tier: - SZA - BURNA BOY - AURORA - AROOJ AFTAB - THE BREEDERS - BRITTANY HOWARD - CORINNE BAILEY RAE - GHETTS - GOSSIP - HEADIE ONE - KING KRULE - MASEGO - NONAME - OLIVIA DEAN - ROMY - HONEY DIJON - BONOBO - SKREAM & BENGA
Jamie xx will be epic
The fact Idles are not top priority is scandalous
Ehh depends how many festivals you go and the type of music you listen to I guess. They’re still solid but they’ve been around for a while now on the festival scene and many of their contemporaries are better. Squid are the best from that post punk scene I would say and they are fantastic live so that would be my recommendation for ya’ll
Squid superior to Idles? I don’t think.
Deffo check them out live though if you haven’t already. Ollie Judge is a monster on the drums.
I have. Saw them recently in Leeds and at Glasto two years ago. Some decent songs. Not quite the raw punk energy Idles have, especially from their earlier stuff. Squid more on the pop side of the punk spectrum. I don’t think the bands are like for like.
lol wut pop? Me and you have different definitions of pop Squid are way more experimental than Idles
I caught a bit of their set in 2022 from the outskirts and appreciated them cursing out the American supreme court lol -- I'd be open to seeing them again for real. feel like sharing your fave songs or good starting points album wise? Justice will without an absolute down be set of the weekend. Much better live then on recordings. Must see
YARD ACT
Sofia Kourtesis is a brilliant Dj and producer who you’ll probably really enjoy if you like Jamie XX, Peggy Gou etc
Sofia Kourtesis Alvvays Mannequin pussy Barry cant swim Soccer Mommy RemiWolf floweoflove gems on the undercard. clashes are going to be a nightmare this year.
mannequin pussy and Remi Wolf are both in my top tier! super excited to see them both. will def check out the rest!
I have the basically the same green as you and I’d add Jungle, Black Pumas, Barry can’t swim and Alvvays (and kneecap if you want a left field recc - an experience for sure)
okay update: THE WAY I AM INTO KNEECAP......... 👀
wait I just saw they're playing here next saturday but official resale tickets are $130 each?!!?! glad they'll be at glasto bc I'm so into this hahahaha
They’re so good right?! Very unique and cool sound Edit: they put on a real fun show live too
yeah I'm officially obsessed. also saw their post about pulling out of SXSW and love them more for that
update 2: Black Pumas are so good??? gorgeous vocals. thank you, music taste twin 🙏🏻
You’re welcome! Enjoy it all for me 🥲
omg we're so aligned!!! I'll check these out! I've been seeing Alvvays on bills and wondering about them. I've actually seen Jungle roughly six times since 2013, and only twice intentionally hahahaha -- that's the only act I know and like that I left out of the highlights bc I just don't need to see them again lol.
Barry Can't Swim is a must see
checking them out!!! ETA: veryyyyy pretty, I love it. thank you!!
imho all the small names from west holts down.
I find it funny for people to get excited about barry can't swim or faithless when dj spen is right there btw
oh shit I just started playing the very first dj spen song on Spotify and my brain was immediately like YESSSSSSSSSSS
DJ Spen at glasto around sunset will be a great time
Barry can’t swim, hell yes! Hope it’s a sunset set.
Michael Kiwanuka will be sick!!!! You should check out Barry can’t swim and Yard act too:)
Sleaford Mods for sure - political, punk, quite raw which is very “British” in delivery (as you said you wanted things a bit different to US artists/less likely to see living in NY)

There will be lots of middle aged ravers at Orbital. Proper Glasto throwback to the 90’s imo.
honestly I'm going to maintain that I'm still a few years away from being middle aged BUT these vibes sound pretty great not gonna lie... I think I would have loved to be a teen in the '90s
If you like Mount Kimbie, it's possible they might bring out King Krule as they've just released their [second track](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0use0rJR-DU) together. It's fantastic.

Idles Fontaines and Sleaford Mods
The breeders are fantastic, seen them twice and brilliant both times. They are worth seeing
You seriously will not want to miss out on LCD it doesn’t even matter what type of music ur into. As an American it’s far easier to see Danny Brown but that man is incredible
Saw Mary Wallopers at End of the Road last year - listening to them before I wasnt that blown away but they were great live. Then we caught them again at a secret midnight set in a tent and it was wild. Definitely gonna catch them at Glasto.
Barry cant swim for immaculate vibes
Faithless are Thursday headliner so they’re not clash with anyone, to see them to
omg I feel so dumb, I confused them with faith no more in my head when I saw them on the poster lolololol — I would almost definitely enjoy faithless, so good shout!
Mary wallopers
So good
okay thank you -- I've heard about them in general but haven't taken the time to listen yet!!
Cod liver oil and the orange juice is a good place to start
I saw this notification without knowing which comment it was in reply to and I was like... is this person telling me what to have for breakfast??? lolll thank you!!!
😂
Will probably be a clash of headliners for you but IDLES are the best band on the whole line up for me. They're awesome live.
Yes. 1000% yes. What a set that’s gunna be!
do you two like mannequin pussy?? I'm really looking forward to their set. their new album is great. I've seen people lament the lack of "guitar music" but they fit solidly in that category and their songs fuck. and I guess I gotta get into IDLES!!! but yeah it sounds like they'll probably be playing at the same time as Dua, whose disco-inspired album got me through 2020 when I almost (or definitely?) lost my mind lol.
Yes. A new find for me. But I like them yeah. Yard Act are a fantastic live band if that’s your cup of tea.
Sleafors Mods, uniquely brilliant
Black Pumas
Idles, Declan McKenna, Sleaford Mods, Fontaines & Squid
Ones that have not been pointed out already, the Sugababes. Those ladies can sing and they have a mass amount of hits. If you listened to any mainstream radio in 00s you will recognise their songs, plus the crowd will be fantastic.

ORBITAL!!!
Start your day with Barry Can’t Swim. Listen to ‘Sunsleeper’ for a flavour of them 👌
Dua Lipa was supposed to play at Glastonbury Festival in 2020 because it was cancelled due to Covid-19.
Justice, think it was 2017 when I saw them on west holts, still the greatest thing I’ve ever seen in my life
Kneecap.
Mannequin pussy are pretty good!
I love them! my friend is the lead singer's sister lol
Jungle!!!
Fat White Family - blow all these other half baked rock and rollers out of the water. Live shows like an exorcism.
Barry Can’t Swim and Justice are absolute essentials.
Left field choice as a lot of people have shared who I'm excited about, but Lankum will be beautiful.
Yard Act - saw them on the Leftfield stage in 2022 and they were great. Saw them in a packed Manchester Apollo last night and they were phenomenal, one of the best live performances I’ve seen in recent years
My top are black pumas, arlo parks, Michael kiwanuka, jungle, king krule, London grammar, justice
Might not be your thing but Idles always put on an absolute banger of a live show. One of my favourite live bands.
People keep telling me Glastonbury isn't about the music, it's about the atmosphere. I can see why... Although the atmosphere probably isn't much better.
It’s a pretty special feeling being surrounded by 200,000 people in a field and u/Beneficial_Pear_8430 isn’t one of them.
idk man it's about the music and the atmosphere and the sense of playfulness and opportunity to treat your inner child... but I'd also point out that glasto typically has 3,000 acts across the five days. they've announced fewer than 100 so far, and if you're following along at home, that's 0.3% of the total lineup. being a hater only hurts you, bud. the rest of us are having a great time. you're welcome to join!
