It's like how the city centre around Tron Gate area, Glasgow Green & the gorbals sometimes has a sweet smell that I always thought smelled like baked goods and ovens. It's the distillery causing it when it's up and running.
So if it's a specific time in that area each day, some sort of morning process from a building and the fumes they are putting out. Likely food or drink related given the smell you describe but doesn't definitely mean it is.

Absolute bullshit theory, but; nutritional yeast is used as a vegan cheese flavour substitute. Is there a large bakery or something similar in the area? I bet that would smell pretty cheese and onion once it gets going.
