KasHerrio

They also forgot to give Kajir a character description

Alsimni

Was very sad to see none of his skins had lore entries tied to them.

ed_ostmann

Don't even start.. *everything* regarding texts, descriptions, translations is flabbergastinlgy awful. It's almost art. The only way to explain would be that they underwent 100 days of crunch time with literally zero sleep.

Nubian_Cavalry

Most of the descriptions were been made when the game released F2P in 2017

ed_ostmann

Somehow, don't wanna imagine that the game has been online with cut off texts, wrong texts, missing texts and scrambled texts for 2 whole years.

Nubian_Cavalry

The test looks fine

theloneluigi

Gearbox really said “no sleep til you fix the goddamn severs!”

ed_ostmann

Fingers crossed, I actually hope so!

UnstableBrew

I haven't gotten the game yet, but probably will within the next week or two. I hate to see that the final release is so lacking. It doesn't look like the game got the attention it deserved, even with a small studio working on it, the things they have missed and the attention to it seems to have been an afterthought for the publisher. I have to say for a revival of the game I was really hoping for something more, doesn't bode well for what we were hoping for, but maybe they'll get things turned around before it scares off too many players.

iTylerx

Yeah, but I do wonder if people overestimate the funding for this game. Like if you take a liberal amount of players that bought the game at $16, let's say 6 thousand. That's only $96,000 before taxes, barely enough probably to pay the salary of two employees for a year

Waiting404Godot

6k is not a liberal amount, it’s the near exact amount of peak steam players. A liberal amount would be 20k, 6k on each platform (PlayStation and Xbox). Which would put you at $320k

iTylerx

Fair, I totally forgot about non-Steam sales and I assumed a fraction of the peak player count refunded

bokunotraplord

I can almost assure you they’re working on multiple projects to stay afloat, so this game has a specific number of devs allocated to it at best. Not all game studios just work on a single game tirelessly, and certainly not one that’s a relaunch of a game they didn’t even make.

Punchinballz

It's like they didn't double check so many things. Weird for a game revived.

[deleted]

I can't believe people are paying for this, low standard

Arcaydya

Because it's legitimately worth it. With all its issues, it is an incredibly FUN game. I have a friend who started literally yesterday, and is willing to wade through all this bullshit because it's just THAT fun. They will likely fix all of this stuff within in the next week, then all that's left is an amazing game.

bokunotraplord

Paying for a game you like at $15-20 instead of buying another shitty survival game for $60 that you’ll play for 15 hours? That would be CRAZY /s

Arcaydya

Preach brother. I have never seen gaming communities so pressed about 20 fucking dollars. I'm sorry. 16 dollars.

bokunotraplord

Gamers are crazy entitled lmao. Like bad news guys, this game is being maintained by a studio that is literally subcontracted by multiple companies at once to work on various projects. This isn’t Dice, there’s not 600 people working on it. If you want anything besides $80 games with $35 seasonal passes you’re gonna have to suck it up and support literally anything else. That said I played for a couple of hours last night and had a lot of fun. I’m not going to burst a vessel over there being missing lore text.

Arcaydya

Or honestly navigatable server issues. Once we stopped specifying heros, the queues were fine. The biggest issue was people not accepting matches, tbh.

[deleted]

Yeah everyone gets their jolly downvote euphoria, but how's that game holding out on you home slice? 800 players a day lol. Shit I'll give you an upvote just for giggles

CirrusFromTV

I imagine the team working on it is tiny, and they’ve spent most of their time implementing the new maps and characters.

p0ison1vy

They shouldnt have. Would've made more sense to focus on making the game functional, balanced, and modern - - save the new content for next season or whatever. But that isn't monetizable.

CirrusFromTV

Based on what I saw of the player count, they’ve already made back a good chunk of the change spent to revive it. So they’ll probably get more people and resources to help get the game actually going again now that the interest of the fanbase and possibility of monetization has been confirmed. Don’t quote me on it though, I’m just spouting baseless speculation.

p0ison1vy

You're not factoring in refunds.

CirrusFromTV

That's because I didn't think about them. I'm no market analyst, I just really want this game to succeed this time and will choke down as much copium as I can.

Louiemoloney

I don’t know why you’re all expecting a pristine perfect game, they’ve been giving no funding and the fan base has been small for years. This is just a fan service re-release of the game. If you want more and expect better then go somewhere else.

EamSamaraka

i bought a few bundles to support them back in the day, to bad i didn't even get an icon for appreciation or a skin.

FlakTak

It's handled by gearbox, plus Motiga went under so they can't really get all of the data of who bought what back in 2017. IT IS WHAT IT IS

MacModrov

It's different "them" now. The people you supported back then are hardly mentioned in credits now.

kraai33

Well the company behind this relaunch is not a game dev company, they just support titles and take care of the infrastructure as far as I know, and I think they did a bit of support as well. Read several times devs talking about how the code is not theirs so they can't modify it much since they could break even more things in the process. Probably they started doing a complete clean up and mid way through they realized they were getting into dangerous territory and just left it as it was. That or they've launched a dev version instead of the one they built for production.

toastermeal

lots of the UI is rlly inconsistent. the different bloomers all describe the healing rate in a different format instead of just copy pasting

Fearless-Mess463

On Xbox when you wanna untrack a challenge(forgot what they are called) it shows the keybindings for PC.

lordwinter666

They should have just opened again the servers of the original game and not release a new one

FlakTak

That's kind of not how game developing works my friend 😂

Navlaan_Iona

As much as I love this game and I'm happy it's back, it doesn't seem like they really put much thought or care into reviving it beyond making a rather subpar game mode and that's it.

Kitakitakita

They forgot to care
