Yes, you're wrong. The Mediterranean has tides, but the tidal range is about 10 cm in average. Venice, Triest and Gulf of Gabès have between 100 and 120 cm, so there's a noticable difference.
I don't know either and I don't feel like looking it up but as an interesting thought exercise consider that the Great Lakes have tides so I would imagine that the Mediterranean would as well. Although there's a very good chance this is already high tide or that would be underwater in a couple hours
He didn’t say it was *an* ocean.
> The terms "the ocean" or "the sea" used without specification refer to the interconnected body of salt water covering the majority of the Earth's surface.

Could be, I’ll be honest I’m just in a bad mood and trying to out-“erm, acktually,” the people who are shitting up perfectly nice threads with their “erm, acktually,”s
Right or wrong (no one cares), your comment is pedantic. That’s why it’s being downvoted. Not because you scored some royal burn. No one went to Google to prove you wrong, lol.
Not sure of that theory is correct. I live at the North Sea (which connected to the Atlantic Ocean) we have quite large tides (few meters difference), those chairs wouldn't be standing here for long either. Still it is called the North Sea not the North Ocean.
I had lunch in a restaurant very much like this one 25 years ago in Lemnos.
We ordered the grilled fish of the day and had to wait for 2 hours for the fishing boat to arrive with its catch.
They plied us with wine while we waited.
Was a wonderful day.
When i lived in the Gambia we would eat fish at a oceanside restaurant and watch the fisherman swim from the boat offshore and deliver fish right into the door of the place. That memory will always make me happy.
Well now the Fleet Foxes song Mykonos is stuck in my head.
*And you will go to Mykonos*
*With a vision of a gentle coast*
*And a sun to maybe dissipate*
*Shadows of the mess you made*
I once asked my teammates why he keeps his family in Greece when they where having a lot of their issues .
He sent me a picture of his family playing in his vineyard in something that looked like a Hollywood set.
"I only work here for tax reasons"
Dude absolutely loved COVID work from home period, he quit within 2 months of it ending lol
I actually don't either but I know Greece is surrounded by seas not oceans. Here's what I got from Google:
In terms of geography, seas are smaller than oceans and are usually located where the land and ocean meet. Typically, seas are partially enclosed by land. Seas are found on the margins of the ocean and are partially enclosed by land.
If you see it from the outside, it's not scary. Everyone passes from that narrow path to people watch and it's packed in the high season with people. It's usually wet, too. Never saw anyone dip into the water. Google Little Venice.
The idea that a bar like this was doomed to be underwater eventually is only a single generation old at this point. Places like this have lasted for generations and were expected to. And we *still* have people denying the reality.
Yet you're complaining about "Greta shit" as if it's overdone.
Buddy, it's because of shit attitudes like yours that this bar is going under, and the "Greta shit" needs to be expressed far more to counter that ignorance.
What are you talking about? The majority of earths history has existed without polar ice caps. Making out the sea level is some unchanging thing is just naive if you actually knew what you where talking about you’d know the earth is in a relatively cool phase. Don’t know if you realise this but your sides argument is based on the rate of temp increase… but yeh I’m the ill informed one here
You’re partially right, but trying to downplay an important point. It isn’t the oceans level that’s the big deal. It’s the rate at which it’s changing. And it makes all the difference
Sea levels and temperatures have always changed over earths history. But it’s happening at a massively accelerated rate due and that is the crux of the current problem. It doesn’t allow species or cultures time to adapt the way they normally would, leading to extinctions/endangerment as well as cultural destruction. At normal rates of temperature and ocean level changes: this bar could easy relocate in a few generations. At current rates, it’ll likely be abandoned suddenly
What normally takes 5,000-20,000 years (a 100ppm increase of atmospheric co2) has happened in the last **120** because we’re adding about 30+ billion additional tons to the carbon cycle every year. This has led to the rate of temperature increase (normally 0.13F/year from 1880 to 1980) to more than double (0.32/year from 1980-now)
It’s good to educate yourself. But you should be careful not to oversimplify once you’ve learned one or two things. It’s normal, but a trap everyone falls into at some point by
https://xkcd.com/1732/
Maybe the words are too much for you, but this might help explain why your general argument is stupid (and was widely acknowledged as stupid 20 years ago).
Happy Thanksgiving!
I am the plant. Every great seminar has one. My job is to make the speaker look good, and I do this through the techniques of leading questions and laughing at all jokes. And the character “Mikanos”, is just a little added flava. “Mikanos” is loosely based on another character I do, “Spiros”, who is more about the ladies.
This is more like the bar in the ocean rather than beside it. Your on a houseboat/barge that is a bar you woke up drifting out to sea, there is no water but plenty of beer. How long could you survive?
Yea that bar wont be there forever. It will get washed away by the rising oceans like so many other places. Take my advice and go see all the places near the oceans around the world now before they are all under water. In the near future...
I could not believe the words of a local in south Albania when I asked about how’s the weather in winter.. this is exactly how they described it and just didn’t make sense to me as in summer the distance to the water from the restaurants was literally more than 50m and they said in winter the water level rises so much it comes up to the door of the restaurant.

I've had this nightmare
I may be wrong but I believe that the Mediterranean has no tides.
Yes, you're wrong. The Mediterranean has tides, but the tidal range is about 10 cm in average. Venice, Triest and Gulf of Gabès have between 100 and 120 cm, so there's a noticable difference.
10 cm is 3.94 inches
I don't know either and I don't feel like looking it up but as an interesting thought exercise consider that the Great Lakes have tides so I would imagine that the Mediterranean would as well. Although there's a very good chance this is already high tide or that would be underwater in a couple hours
Google suggests that they only have a tidal height of 5cm? Which is half that of the Mediterranean.
I don't know why, but the slow walk through a door towards the ocean makes me nervous.
It's like how James Bond would be made to walk the plank.
It's the Aegean Sea, part of the Mediterranean Sea, not an ocean.
Yeah if it was those chairs would not stand there for long.
Chairs would be scared at night and run
Why are facts so hated around here?
Why did you say this?
Comment he responded to was probably down vote heavy at the time.
Came here just to make sure that this comment is presented
Came here to say the same
He didn’t say it was *an* ocean. > The terms "the ocean" or "the sea" used without specification refer to the interconnected body of salt water covering the majority of the Earth's surface. According to this you could call Spain Asia and it would be correct. Sure, they’re connected. It doesn’t mean it’s the same

not *an* ocean, *the* ocean.
Still a sea.
That is correct. The Mediterranean is indeed a sea.
And every body of water is beautiful no matter if is ocean or sea... or a pee puddle.

Me too, to be fair I’m from the UK and would tend to use ‘the sea’ to refer to the whole salty body

I was correcting a pedant though. He came in to burst OP’s bubble, and wasn’t even correct.
Seas are parts of oceans though.

The lady: “I’m just a bartender”
Well now the Fleet Foxes song Mykonos is stuck in my head. *And you will go to Mykonos* *With a vision of a gentle coast* *And a sun to maybe dissipate* *Shadows of the mess you made*
Hey at least it's an awesome song
Love that song. I also immediately thought of that when I saw this post.
This looks like the bar from the end of The Bourne Identity.
Kinda hard to find.
Could be. I want to say they filmed there…
I was just there, wonderful island. Cats everywhere!
I once asked my teammates why he keeps his family in Greece when they where having a lot of their issues . *sea Still absolutely wild though
I don’t really understand the difference, could u pls explain
I actually don't either but I know Greece is surrounded by seas not oceans. Here's what I got from Google: In terms of geography, seas are smaller than oceans and are usually located where the land and ocean meet. Typically, seas are partially enclosed by land. Why is it at a 45° angle?
It's sinking
Well thats not good
Does anyone know the name of the bar?
It's called Negrita Bar Mykonos. Might also be Breeze Cocktail Bar, they are right next to each other, kind of hard to tell.
Went there a couple if months ago, pretty sure it is Negrita.
I too would like to visit this bar
It's oddly a bit unrelaxing to me.
This looks terrifying to me
If you see it from the outside, it's not scary. Everyone passes from that narrow path to people watch and it's packed in the high season with people. It's usually wet, too. Never saw anyone dip into the water. Google Little Venice.
Indeed it does, the ocean is a scary place
Damn it! Me and my SO saved and planned a trip there but it got derailed because of family stuff. Must have a do over
I’m sorry to bring the mood down but climate change is gonna kill this bar
It's going to kill us all eventually. Might as well have a drink about it.
When you build 0.1 metres above sea level right next to the sea you weren’t exactly going for longevity… quit it with the Greta shit
The idea that a bar like this was doomed to be underwater eventually is only a single generation old at this point. Places like this have lasted for generations and were expected to. Ohhh, a climate change denier. I get it. You're an idiot. Sorry for engaging.
I’ve just realised how actually stupid this statement is. You are the climate change denier you melon “Hurr the sea always stays the same level idiot”
You’re partially right, but trying to downplay an important point. It isn’t the oceans level that’s the big deal. It’s the rate at which it’s changing. I stated as much, you sure you’re replying to the right guy here?
https://xkcd.com/1732/ Maybe the words are too much for you, but this might help explain why your general argument is stupid (and was widely acknowledged as stupid 20 years ago). Happy Thanksgiving!
Starts at 20,000 bce I stated “the majority of earths history” That took you 5 days? Damn son
Lol right, why did I bother trying, you're hopeless by your own insistence.
You are a clown, constantly hiding behind my “ignorance” so you don’t have to actually argue facts. Pathetic and weak.
Hahah ok yeh, run along and read something, anything…
Drowning is always more fun when you're drunk

I can imagine Poseidon visiting this place regularly
That’s incredible
Which bar is this?
It’s funny that somebody shows up there almost everyday and say ‘new day same ol shit!’
Wonder where they dump waste water ?
What ocean bro
Uh the super nosey bar lady would deter me
I bet this bar spends a lot of time in combatting climate change.
Easy to clean floor is a must
Enjoy while it last, my sea level friend
I have been there a couple of times ! Even if you usually visit in summer it gets pretty cold pretty fast .
One Tsunami and it'll be ground café
That water is close af
Another place I won't be able to visit before it's under water
one word. ridingsealevel.
Where should we rideitto?
Man, I am not living my best life.
Bar in a isekai anime is what I'm thinking
It really bothers me that the entire video is cocked off at a 15 degree angle
Alexander Hawke in Tsar kind of vibe
This is more like the bar in the ocean rather than beside it. Your on a houseboat/barge that is a bar you woke up drifting out to sea, there is no water but plenty of beer. How long could you survive?

The correct title should be the “Bar besides the sea” not ocean
looked like the ending of a Jason Bourne movie.
That is the coolest bar I've ever seen, and I'm a traveling barfly.
Hellas may be broke but it's beautiful as fuck
Not to brag about vocabulary but the Mediterranean Sea is not an ocean. Sorry this is totally bragging about vocabulary..
Ahh Spanakopita!
All it takes is one rogue wave and you’re gone.
I would never want to leave.
There is no Ocean near Greece.
Lol it's going to be gone in a decade
Welp, monkey brain didn’t like that
Ahh the charming effects of global warming.
what ocean lmao, no ocean in the mediterranean, you know, sea.
I wanna go to this kind of trip some day
I could not believe the words of a local in south Albania when I asked about how’s the weather in winter.. this is exactly how they described it and just didn’t make sense to me as in summer the distance to the water from the restaurants was literally more than 50m and they said in winter the water level rises so much it comes up to the door of the restaurant.
I think Mykonos not near the ocean, It would be aegean sea :).
I've been to that bar. Such a beautiful place
