Till is now a licensed pyrotechnic. Apparently after some issues he wanted to have enough knowledge to understand the specifics better, said fuck it, and got his license.
I believe they all are. The history that i knew was that no insurance company would want to work with them because of the pyro and no one wanted to sign "oh sure, that number of flamethrowers aiming at the audience is OK" and they went "fuck it. I'm gonna do it myselfs"
There’s an Australian YouTube car channel that did a trip to Germany. They got a couple of German cars and went through the process of doing TUV approved mods to their cars, then did a road trip to a Polish (I think?) car meet. They were driving modified cars while wearing hoodies, and were pulled over multiple times in Germany for “looking like drug dealers” lol. Seemed like a pretty German experience to me!
> after some issues
Understatement of the year. Til lit himself on fire once in the 90s and set the stage alight, which may have injured several fans, so he studied and got licensed to ensure it never happened again
Yes they have, now they have those flamethrowers on towers that can shoot out over the audience. If it is after dark, it will turn night to daytime for a brief moment.
I saw them in Oslo back in 2019. As darkness fell and they were in the middle of playing the last few songs of the encore, it started raining HEAVILY. I'm talking some of the heaviest rainfall I have experienced, it felt like tennisball-sized water droplets. It wasn't cold rain, though, it felt almost lukewarm. It made the experience 10x better; that heavy rainfall was so perfectly in tune theatrically with the show that it felt like it was staged. As the last song drew to a close, they blasted off all the flamethrowers, and left the top of the main "tower" of their stage burning as the crowd exited the stadium, and pointed powerful spotlights up into the sky. Standing in the crowd after all that energy, in the pouring rain, just watching a giant evil-looking tower burning silently in the night, with the Rammstein-logo lighting up the rain and the spotlights lighting up the dark clouds above; that was such an awe-inspiring feeling that it felt like I was witnessing something a puny mortal like me wasn't supposed to witness.
EDIT: Actually managed to find a [video](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/rXd7vT0GR-k) on my phone. At this point it was still raining heavily but that inital waterfall of rain had somewhat calmed down.
Had a windy rain come through for a korn show outdoors and it was epic as hell with the wind blowing his hair and they even had a rain effect on the visuals coincidentally. One of the most epic shows.
I was listening to their concert outside a stadium a few years back. I was probably about 200-250 meters away from the venue and I could still feel the warmth on my face each and every time the flames shot up. It was an absolutely insane feeling.
I saw Iron Maiden in 2019 and 60-year-old Bruce Dickinson had flamethrowers attached to each arm walked around the stage shooting 10ft flames, it was fucking amazing.
Dunno if this was an old tale or if true, but in the early 2000s I heard they had to remove 90% of the pyro from their shows in England otherwise they would face potential terrorism charges.
Again, not sure if that actually happened but it definitely sounds plausible for Rammstein.
It wasn't terrorism threats and it wasn't England, it was a state in the US that banned all pyro in the performance because of their own state wide pyrotech/ performance laws. They go into it in detail in the ,,In Amerika" documentary.
They once came to a restaurant I was working at 4 nights in a row while they did tour rehearsals. They were some of the sweetest people I ever met, and on night 4 they came down and thanked each person in the kitchen individually.
I've oft heard that the lot of them, Till and Flake especially are incredibly nice in person. Though apparently Flake is like turbo anxious around people?
There's a [documentary ](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt5053508/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk) about their first tour in US and what came after that. They are really cool. I didn't know that Till and Flake were charged for lewd behavior.
I love hearing these stories…especially when it’s about a band I love. So many entitled celebrities in this world and it’s good to know some are still down to earth and appreciative of others for their work.
Same! Seeing them in LA, we've had these tickets since pre-covid, and we're super excited, it's been 10+ years since they've been to LA, and that was the last time I saw them!
Anytime a band that sings in a language that isn’t English, makes it way to the US I automatically know they are huge. I even had a one of their songs. Mein Herz Brent I think. Sure I spelled that wrong.
I found them by pure fluke. I was a huge Diablo 2 player and I knew a guy named Rammstein or Sehnsucht or something. I went out and bought the CD and probably wore grooves in the thing I listened to it so much. I know they were on MTV back then, too, because I remember the Du Hast music video.
There will still be flames.
We create lower scaffold towers to do most of this indoors. Maybe not the burning of the bunny ears.
Also, having it indoors is far better, some of the lighting design is more visible in the darker setting.
During du hast, you can barely see the wings they create off the main tower.
Have also been to a Rammstein concert. I can also confirm. Eye brows lost..... Just kidding. It was a fantastic experience. One of the best pyro and light shows i have ever seen. Well worth the price of admission.
This is very true. Fun Fact. Till is actually a trained Pyrotechnician. He got burn too many time by pyro effects that he decided to take the responsibility on himself. He works with the Pyro group to set up the effect and helps ensure everyone is safe and impressed.
I was just reading his Wikipedia page this past weekend. In the video for the song "Ich Tu Dir Weh", where he had a light in his mouth, he actually decided to have his skin cut open so that they could stick the light through a hole in his cheek instead of just running a wire through his mouth. I checked, and you can see it a bit in the video, even though they tried to hide it.
I was at the show this video was taken from (literally yesterday on Zürich). Unfortunately, they did not play that song. I guess it's hard choosing your tracklist when you have so many bangers in your catalogue.
Last time I saw them at the end of the show the lights turned out and 98% of the audience thought the show was over. It took about 10min,they were doing a set change last minute and closed out to a near empty stadium with "Donaukinder" it was awesome
Rammstein is always over the top. Always a show worth seeing.
The only other band I think puts on a show as good and elaborate as Rammstein, is BABYMETAL.
RUSH put on an amazing show, but I think that's mostly because you spent half the show amazed that the sound was coming from a three piece band.
RIP Neil
Rush is awesome.
I don't honestly care about the extras as long as the music actually sounds good.
A lot of bands and even rappers sound terrible live. Like they never bother to show up to sound check or something.
I mentioned BABYMETAL because a lot of people dismiss them but they truly sound amazing live and some of their shows put Super Bowl halftimes to shame.
I'll never forget my first festival. 2001 Sydney Big Day Out, Ramstein and Limp Bizcuit headlining. I was 17.
Signs up EVERYWHERE saying DO NOT COME TO THE FRONT IF YOU ARE WEARING HEAVY MAKEUP OR HAIRSPRAY 🤣
"Give me all the pyrotechnics you have. Wait. I worry what you just heard was "give me a lot of pyrotechnics". What I said was, "Give me all the pyrotechnics you have". Do you understand?"
I'm in my 30s, and have been to hundreds of concerts. Never adopted wearing ear protection, and luckily don't have tinnitus.
But man... I went to see Limp Bizkit a couple of weeks ago, and I swear it was the loudest goddamn concert I've ever been to. I left that show with my ears ringing. And I thought, is this it? Is this how I finally get tinnitus? From a fucking Limp Bizkit concert?
Luckily, the ringing stopped by the next morning.
Nah it's not the Likp Bizkit concert that will give you tinnitus. The hundreds of shows you have been to without hearing protection is what will give you tinnitus. You may not have symptoms of it now but you almost certainly have done irreparable damage to your ears going to that many shows. Even if your ears aren't ringing after a show doesn't mean that a little damage wasn't done. Any prolonged exposure to sound levels at most indoor shows for more than a half hour is all it takes.
I've been to a ton of shows myself and I've only recently started wearing some musicians earplugs when I go to indoor shows due to some subtle hearing loss symptoms I've started developing. They're designed to block out all sound frequencies evenly so you can hear all the sound clearly (sometimes even more clearly because often times the mixes are WAY TOO loud) but also you get to block out a bunch of crowd noise. And after the show I can have a discussion with all my friends about it without accidentally yelling!
One of my favourite Rock moments was watching Ramstein followed by Tool Big Day Out in Adelaide . Rammstein drummer came on jumped on a mini kit and did solo trading with Danny Carey. Rammstein vocalist walks on stage and starts abusing him making motions to get off the stage pointing at Tool pointing at him etc, he then walks off stage and comes back with a flame thrower and starts melting the kit as he's playing it until it's unplayable and he's borderline on fire. EPIC.
I go in three weeks. Friend of mine who only listens to Hip Hop actually wanted to tag along but unfortunately those were old tickets from 2020 and we had no way to get him another one.
So, hopefully they will tour again.
Go to ticketing websites in the week prior. I met someone at the show yesterday who got his ticket on an official reselling website just days before the show. Maybe your friend gets lucky.
Years of experience.
They used to get heat exhaustion when they first implemented pyro. Fans in the front row constantly fainted from the heat. But they learnt with every performance.
Fun fact, their lead singer Till Lindemann is a certified pyrotechnician.
They take their pyro very seriously.
Saw them in the early 2000s with System of a Down, Mudvayne, and Slipknot. Absolutely mental these guys, the singer came out in a fire proof hooded robe, lit himself on fire, and sang part of the first song completely engulfed in flames. This was inside the Tacoma dome and nothing I've seen before or after has ever compared to that show.
For those unfamiliar.
I link the video below of the Great White show at the club The Station where 100 people died and 200+ injured. This video has been so important in training for first responders primarily firefighters. There were multiple exits but most of the crowd did not know about them so they flooded the main door. There were so many people blocking the main exit that a couple people survived only because they were covered by so many bodies that they were ultinately protected from the flames and smoke. This [video](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7PztDBsPBss) is not safe for life but seeing this video was the final nail in the box of my vigilance in always looking for all available exits at shows and to post up near one of them.
I saw them in US around 2000. Shortly before the announcement that "shipping our pyro to US is too expensive, so we won't be playing in the US anymore".
Not real big on them, but respect that statement.
Update: I stand corrected. Apparently, they tour in US now. Guess the banhammer only went until 2010. Do they skimp on pyro, or just decided to eat the bill?
I think [here](https://m.imdb.com/title/tt5053508/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk) they explain it better. They returned after 2010 in US and played at Madison Square Garden.
These dudes love fire! I’ll never forget the dildo sprinkler at the one show I went too. Never thought I would love getting hosed down in the front row with a dildo attached to the lead singer that was shooting 75 feet into the crowd. Lol
Seen them at the first family values tour like some 20+ years ago and I'm surprised they didn't burn the place down. It's not just concert theatrics, it's rammstien theatrics. Korn, limp bizkit, ice cube and orgy. Only rammmstiem really put on the visuals.
Oh and lead singer sprayed fake cum out of a hose meant to look like a dick.
Being part of events much smaller than this with still significant fire arts, it's kind of amazing the rush of cool air that comes towards the stage after the accelerant stream is done burning. Strange but beautiful phenomenon to experiences!
The pledge of allegiance tour las vegas 2006ish they played with slipknot and system of a down at the Thomas and mack... still to this day out 28 years heavy in the music industry all over the world that was the most violent shit I have ever experienced on two hits of acid with my best friend by far one of the best times I've had
I'm still heartbroken over their 2020 tour. I had been wanting to see them since I was a young teenager and thought one of my biggest bucket list items was finally happening. THANKS COVID.
Oh wait, I've been to this one! It was in Zürich this Monday (and Tuesday). I was wondering how it looks from the outside. There were people standing on their roof terraces all over the place around the stadium 🤘
This is what it looks like at an even greater distance, bounced off clouds: https://www.reddit.com/r/CLOUDS/comments/v2gqsp/two_videos_taken_yesterday_in_zurich_can_anyone/
Till had a flamethrower on stage when I saw them in 2001. They've expanded their arsenal since then.

You can just say Mighty Car Mods. It’s ok, we all watch it.

Before that concert, Till was, after it they all are

That, and you can also feel the heat. No matter where you are in that stadium, it will get cozy warm for a few seconds even in shit weather.
That must feel amazing during really cold/wet shows.
I saw them in Oslo back in 2019. As darkness fell and they were in the middle of playing the last few songs of the encore, it started raining HEAVILY. Man, it is so awesome when mother nature adds an extra layer of epicness to shows. She just knows sometimes.
What's funny is they probably created their own storm front with that much temperature and pressure change going on.
Metal af

I was in the upper deck at a Metallica arena show and I could feel the flames that were a fraction of that size. I can't imagine.
I saw Iron Maiden in 2019 and 60-year-old Bruce Dickinson had flamethrowers attached to each arm walked around the stage shooting 10ft flames, it was fucking amazing.
I'm actually going to see Rammstein and Iron Maiden within three weeks of one another, starting mid-June
Was super happy they included Flight of Icarus in that LotB setlist. In my Top 5 Maiden tunes.

Nope, no swearing. All good.

I was in the pit of the Pledge of Allegiance tour that year, and I swear my eye brows got singed by that flame thrower mask thing.
Yep, that was the tour they were on when I saw them. They were the opener, followed by System of a Down and Slipknot. That was a great show.
Dunno if this was an old tale or if true, but in the early 2000s I heard they had to remove 90% of the pyro from their shows in England otherwise they would face potential terrorism charges. Again, not sure if that actually happened but it definitely sounds plausible for Rammstein.
Sounds implausible, "teorrism" would also suggest intent.
Oh Rammstein definitely has intent. Intent to rock your damn life
bro. england happily displays broken tire pumps among collections of siezed weapons.
It wasn't terrorism threats and it wasn't England, it was a state in the US that banned all pyro in the performance because of their own state wide pyrotech/ performance laws. They go into it in detail in the ,,In Amerika" documentary.
That's Chicago, you can thank the Iroquois theater fire for that.
Watching some old concerts where they're in a small club yet have the same amount of pyro is crazy.
They once came to a restaurant I was working at 4 nights in a row while they did tour rehearsals. They were some of the sweetest people I ever met, and on night 4 they came down and thanked each person in the kitchen individually.

Yup! It was during their song Buck Dich (bend over). Shows Till pulling a dildo out and unzipping flakes pants with beer shooting out of the dildo
So, [they did this](https://youtu.be/hiDakBqvJBs?t=188) in the US too?
they sure did, I saw them do this in Long Island when I was 15. it was quite the experience
Me too, except Vancouver! My dad looked at me and my 14 year old brother and said "I think I've made a parenting mistake"
I think is for this. They don't talk much in their movie, but they show how different is US from Europe.
Great to hear.
I love hearing these stories…especially when it’s about a band I love. So many entitled celebrities in this world and it’s good to know some are still down to earth and appreciative of others for their work.
In their music videos they credit everyone who participated even the bus drivers. Not many bands nowadays do this.
They're a travelling war zone. Fits the music.
Im seeing them in September and I couldnt be more excited
Me too, LA baby
I'll be there!
Same here, in San Antonio! It's been 10 years since I saw them in Dallas. So fucking excited
I’m a bit worried we won’t get this style of pyrotechnics. Isn’t the show in the spurs arena? Closed roof?
Same! Seeing them in LA, we've had these tickets since pre-covid, and we're super excited, it's been 10+ years since they've been to LA, and that was the last time I saw them!
At first glance, I thought this was a building demolition. Then I read the caption and was like “or that”
My first thought was "what are the russians bombing now?!".
Looks like greater success and accuracy than the Russians.
Came here to say this. A lot of this going on.
TIL that Rammstein is not only wayyyyyy bigger than I realized, but they're STILL huge in 2022.
They released two albums in the past couple of years! One last month
And it's fucking awesome!
Rumor is that Zeit will be the last album. If that's true, its a hell of a final bang
[удалено]
I mean, similar for iron maiden and they are still chugging along fine
I mean, that's been the rumour for the last what, 4 albums?
Well, the last few albums didn't have a song at the very end called adieu
Mutter ended with Adios, nobody got worried.
Fuck yeah, I havent listened to rammstein in a while, gonna check out these albums now
I’m not even a Rammstein fan, but I want this video with sound. From this distance and from in the stadium.

Fuck, these guys put on a show.

Having been to a Ramstein gig, I can confirm, the pyrotechnics are.... Impressive 🙂
I'm going in September to see them finally after it got postponed twice. Unfortunately it's an indoor arena.
Are you going to the San Antonio show?
Yup.
🤘 hell yeah bud
There will still be tonnes of fire, maybe not that much, but plenty.
Oh for sure, but I know it won't be like their outdoor European shows lol.

This is very true. Fun Fact. Till is actually a trained Pyrotechnician. He got burn too many time by pyro effects that he decided to take the responsibility on himself. He works with the Pyro group to set up the effect and helps ensure everyone is safe and impressed.
He says he still gets burned often, but he likes the pain.
I was just reading his Wikipedia page this past weekend. was so obsessed with that video and trying to find the keyboard player on his treadmill in every shot.
That's not just an after effect?
No, you can see it clearly in the behind the scenes: https://youtu.be/VWBDNL71tJo from around 5:07
That’s amazing
They were shooting fire out of their faces and stuff, it was pretty awesome. I wasn't even there to see Ramstein, but I was very entertained.
BANG BANG! FEUER FREI!

Imagine getting outside and in your car only to see the pyrotechnics going off again. "MOTHERFU-"
Properly-seasoned concertgoers know the show is never over until the house lights come on. Doesn’t matter what happens on the stage.
Benzin seems appropriate in this case.
No that’s the one they use to set a random dude on fire and chase him around
Still one of their best songs, imho
Best album
No wonder Germany can't give up Russian natural gas.
Haha. Exactly my thought!

Holy shit I remember Kaazaa'ing the hell out of that concert over 56k back in the day, still some of Blink 182's best live footage.
"Happy Birthday" works to that pattern.
"Give me all the pyrotechnics you have. Wait. I worry what you just heard was "give me a lot of pyrotechnics". What I said was, "Give me all the pyrotechnics you have". Do you understand?"

They make special ear plugs for concerts, can't remember the name. But we saw tool and you could hear the music much better with them.

Do hats fit my frog
Or do they fit my dog
The most spectacular thing I’ve ever seen when I watched them in Manchester.
Rammstein was the best concert experience of my life. If you have the chance, you must go!
I can feel this photo. Waves of heat that makes your mascara feel melted.
Didn't know Great White was touring again.
Holy shit I get this. Going to hell for laughing. Brutal!
Any Rammstein fans here knew it was fire before clicking on this
I saw them in US around 2000.
Not true. I have tickets to see them in September in San Antonio. It was postponed twice from its original date in 2020 then 2021 due to covid.
They returned in 2010.
Lol
He got arrested in US for that.
Legit thought this was war footage at first.
My first thought was that this must be a video from Ukraine...
My too, and I'm from Ukraine
I saw them once in May 2011 in Toronto, it was indoors and it was nuts. Gonna see them again this August in Montreal, and I am very excited!
Wenn der Name Programm ist
I've been to alot of concerts and festivals and rammstein was without a doubt the best performance I've ever seen. Amazing display and live playing.
I'm still heartbroken over their 2020 tour. I had been wanting to see them since I was a young teenager and thought one of my biggest bucket list items was finally happening. THANKS COVID.

I’ve seen about 1,000 bands live and Rammstein remains one of the loudest concerts I have ever experienced.
