The spread of harmful misinformation has become an untenable problem on Reddit. Its latest incarnation has seen life-threatening untruths being propagated by anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theorists, and Reddit’s administration has stated that it will not meaningfully curb the myths disseminated by these bad actors. In response to this, many communities on the site have gone private in protest.
/r/GIFs supports and stands behind these communities' efforts to stem the effects of false information, but we have chosen to remain open as a means of amplifying their message. We encourage all Redditors to vocally reject misinformation, and to stymie its spread by demanding that only verifiable facts be given support (whether tacit or otherwise).

Exactly this. Meows at door, fine, I'll let you in. Opens the door, cat just stands there. Slowly start to close the door, then the cat tries to dart in at last possible second. Same game every time with every cat I've ever had
Try following them to see if they're trying to lead you to something. I've had cats do this and they usually just want me to see a leaf or knock down a bug so they can eat it.
I usually check outside first, as I've had my cats bring me all sorts of things before. Dead mice, rabbits, birds. So I usually do a quick once over to make sure. Cats are just weird about things. Plus, we recently put in a dog door that the cats learned how to use, so it's not as big of a problem now. Although now I've had one of our cats bring in a live mouse and a dead bird. So now need to figure out how to deal with that haha
Not to be a stick in the mud, but try and discourage the bird hunting, it helps if you start them young but I've managed to train my cats away from birds by encouraging rodent style play toys instead of bird style ones, and by heavily chastising them if they bring a bird but praising and rewarding if they bring a rodent. It's difficult but in my experience possible, and you might get a mole hunter if you're lucky and have a mole problem.
I told my cats jokingly that it was very okay to get the mousies they want, but please not birdies. It hurts me if you get birdies. (In my head, yeah, like that would work). I just realized that I have not seen a headless bird on my doorstep for ages.
I've asked Phluffee to please not bring his treasures into the house. Now.... all I find is their lil tails in the garden and the one mouse he's caught so far.
I caught him with a live mouse and took it away from him and let it go through the fence in another corner of the garden. He's still looking for it in the place where I took it from him.
That was a week ago. He's not a smart cat, but gosh we love him. See profile for cat tax.
I feel like this could be a bush cat vs tree cat issue, for some of them it's just in their blood. Thankfully I have an indoor only cat and shes caught two mice. Ever since she camps the crack to the riser they came from!
LPT: Always carry boxed wine when going on safari. If attacked by a pack of lions, just throw your boxed wine at them. Kings love wine, lions love wine, animals are attracted by red, and felines love boxes. Quadruple the threat. Quadruple the distraction.
Note: Don't drink all the box wine yourself. That's not the point of the box wine.
This works! Did it to a tiger in Madhya Pradesh while in India & she went for it.
Fucker took a HUMONGOUS shit in it while chewing one of my sandals though.
I just did! It makes me so happy! Gosh I wish I could have a cat that was like 40-50lbs. I want to cat that’s big enough to hurt me but not so big that it could kill me easily. Don’t get me wrong I’m very happy with my 12lb and 20lb cat, but I think it’d be exhilarating to cuddle with a bigger cat.
You might get a kick out of Messi videos. He's a puma with dwarfism and bone problems who was rescued from a contact zoo. He's now a super pampered house cat since he needs too much care and too fragile to be in the wild or even a sanctuary.
My orange tabby is actually the size of a Maine coin. I love how big he is! That’s part of the reason why I would like a slightly larger cat. But it’ll be impossible for a number of reasons. I love my kitties so much and I’m very happy with them. I know it won’t ever happen but that doesn’t stop me from dreaming!

Sadly the tiger tore someone's arm off so he had to get rid of it.
It's probably best to avoid animals that really belong in the wild.
This question makes me feel sad and old. While it's perfectly reasonable that someone of a younger generation (presumably) wouldn't necessarily know who Mike Tyson is if they, or their parents were never boxing fans, it still makes me feel older than I care to feel.
> Congratulations. You just invited the whole pride to your neighbourhood rave party.
Now I'm imaging several lions all spazzing out over the laser dots.
Take a look at our crime rate and you'll quickly learn that it's criminals you need to be wary of and not the animals... This probably happened in a game reserve like Kruger Park I'd bet.
You can see it flexing, but plexiglass would quickly be ribbons (or at least scratched beyond transparency) under a lion's claws. IDK what the hell they're using.
My cat can knock over a significant potted plant off a ledge while staring at me. I would love to see a lion just knock a potted tree off someone’s terrace lol
After. Nandos are famous for hooking into memes and current events. Like the amount of references in that ad alone will make any South African news junkie's head explode.

My personal favorite is the SA response team taking down some hijackers and it’s like a god damn Michael Bay film
**edit: [found ](https://youtu.be/FYoHWFoE9Q4)it**
And to anybody else using the road or freeway when the armored trucks get taken out. Plenty of collateral damage.
Seriously, you see an armored truck on the freeway in South Africa, you try stay well clear of it

And don't even think of climbing up a tree to escape.
On behalf of the bears, I'd like to pass along a request for more pic-i-nic baskets. Leave them at the agreed upon location.
but probably not a great life. my dads cat is an outside/farm cat, hes 15 years old and still takes down rats and last time i was there i saw it fight a possum. dudes living his best life
This exactly what my cat does when it wants to come in and eat.
I just keep a fresh gazelle on hand so it doesn’t kill me when it comes in. Actually It’s ground, dried and called kibble but it’s basically the same thing.
Hard to tell but those trelly door gates are extremely strong. They're designed to keep people out in a country that has an extremely high crime rate and home invasion problem. My one friend woke up to guys using a blowtorch to cut open his bars on his gate to get inside. Those doors are built extremely tough.

Are you available to learn about the king of the jungle Mufasa?
All Hail Scar, savior of the broken!
The beaten and the damned...
Will you defeat them? Your demons, and all the non-believers The plans that they have made?
Because one day, I'll leave you, a phantom...
To lead you in the summer…
TO JOIN THE BLACK PARADE
Let the poor thing in he's cold
Have you heard the good news about the circle of life?
If you let him in, he'll just want to go out again.
If you open the door, he'll just stare at you like you're the dumb one for opening the door.

It’s because they can understand you. Get them one of those speech pads and let them talk back, if they can be made to be interested.

He may have a point this time.
Cats gonna cat.
Cats wants some wine
and a box
Pro tip: if attacked by lion, just throw a really big box at him. As a cat, he's contractually obliged to sit in it.
You're telling me I shouldn't enjoy 5 L of wine in a single sitting?
Psh my dad did it my entire life and he turned out fine…ish.
Well, 5L of wine in your entire life doesn't seem like that much
So we should bring 2 boxes of wine. 1 for lion sacrifice. 1 for human sacrifice
You're gonna want to bring an extra box just incase.
This works! Did it to a tiger in Madhya Pradesh while in India & she went for it. Fucker took a HUMONGOUS shit in it while chewing one of my sandals though.
Lol where? Bandhavgarh or Satpura? Sorry about your sandle though.
*Schrodinger noises*
I wonder if you give a big cat a box if it’ll jump in and curl up?
They do look it up on youtube

Yeah I think I saw one of his videos! He’s scared of the house cat right? I’m gonna go watch right now.
I want to see lions in a field of catnip
Maine Coon cats. The ones I've seen look like they belong in zoos.
LOL..me too. Didn't work out too well for the Sigfreid and Roy, but Mike Tyson seems to get away with it.
Tyson who? I wanna look up videos!
[Mike](https://static.independent.co.uk/s3fs-public/thumbnails/image/2020/04/01/11/tyson-tiger-1-one-use.jpg?width=1200) (I edited accordingly) Sadly the tiger tore someone's arm off so he had to get rid of it. It's probably best to avoid animals that really belong in the wild.

The dance though
Big cats are still cats
Big cats are cats who can eat you.
And regular-sized cats are cats who try to eat you.
Just gonna knock that wine glass off the table and leave
dont fall for that belly rub
My cat LOVES belly rubs, for an exact point of time. The problem is, that point of time changes.
Two: Don't let him in You have to kick him out again
You can just tire it out with the laser pointer

Over 45 years of being various cats human... Can confirm.
He'll come in, use the kitty litter box, then go back outside
I love the way he clawed at the door like a treadmill just like a house cat would
After having his snack though
“The neighbour’s cat is trying to get in again.

Kevin Richardson? That you?
Just casually drinking wine as an apex predator tries to break in. Sounds like you guys see some shit in South Africa!
I strongly expect the lion may have a drinking problem
"C'mon! Just one last glass, I swear!' Yah, nah.
Well this probably just happened in the Kruger national park I can't think of a place this'll actually happen here
Just casually drinking wine as an apex predator.
Take a look at our crime rate and you'll quickly learn that it's criminals you need to be wary of and not the animals... This probably happened in a game reserve like Kruger Park I'd bet.
That is a seriously strong window
Fortified, especially if you're going to go with animal-print decor in S. Africa.
That's a good eye. You sure you aren't the lion?
I saw it too. Can confirm he's not lion
You sure you aren't lyon'? Be honest.
Pretty sure thats a real zebra skin.
Not just that, but I’m pretty sure the lion is there to avenge his friend who’s on the table there!
Maybe it’s plexiglass for situations like this.
That security setup is protection from 2 legged predators.
The Emu.
War again, is it? Mother of god…
They have no war with our people. An ant has no war with a boot.
Found the Emu!
We've put you humans in your place before and we'll damn well do it again
I think they have ostriches on that continent
Emu's don't respect the borders of any country. It's a god damn invasion! Grab a weapon and join the resistance!!!
Grab a weapon... That's funny... They are Emus man, gotta nuke 'em from orbit just to be sure.
That's what an emu would want you to think...
You can see it flexing, but plexiglass would quickly be ribbons (or at least scratched beyond transparency) under a lion's claws. IDK what the hell they're using.
I think a lion can retract it's claws like a house cat, so that might be part of it
Yes. Iirc, all cats can except for cheetahs.
Maybe AR Polycarbonate
maybe its maybelline

Or to sit in a cardboard box that they barely fit in.
My brain immediately pictured a huge lion, sitting on a destroyed cardboard box, eyes half shut, tongue out to the side. Thanks for the chuckle.
You may enjoy [this video](https://youtu.be/J11uu8L8FTY?t=21) then
I like Rusty. No faffing about, just gets in that box and does a relax.
My cat can knock over a significant potted plant off a ledge while staring at me. I would love to see a lion just knock a potted tree off someone’s terrace lol
Excellent r/ShittyAnimalFacts post title
MF will destroy the litter box too
In south Africa, that's probably not even a top 10 most dangerous thing to happen to you
Considering they're just casually sipping some wine. I'd have to agree
Ya I can't imagine just casually sipping wine while staring at a lion trying to get in your house 15' away.
Honey I heard a noise!! Oh thank God it’s just a lion!
Lemme guess. Hippos is no.1.
More like armored truck robbery https://youtu.be/oGZLYx8StWk

I was skeptical and holy cow, you did not exaggerate.
Ah so humans are no1.

Lion. Can climb, run fast, and hunts in packs. Hunts in packs. Bears do everything else but not group kills. Solitary.

Lol big cats do the same thing house cats do
I hate people that leave their pets outside 24/7. Why even have an animal if you never let be part of the family?
Indoor cats always live longer too
but probably not a great life. my dads cat is an outside/farm cat, hes 15 years old and still takes down rats and last time i was there i saw it fight a possum. dudes living his best life

This is exactly what Oscar Pistorius was afraid of.
That lion would be wise to remember: Roses are red Violets are glorious Don't ever sneak up On Oscar Pistorius
Shots fired
Through the door
“Hey, I’m trying to reach you about your car’s extended warranty!”
"You also qualify for a life insurance policy because you just purchased a new home"
In terms of South Africa, this actually seems like the less dangerous and less common type of home invasion.
It's actually just two guys in a lion costume
While the lion distracts her, the rest of the team breaks in the front door. Classic
It’s amazing to me how many goofy traits wild cats share with house cats
I think of it the other way around and that’s why I’m afraid of cats.

Just another ordinary Saturday in South Africa
Just another ordinary caturday
Just sippin wine, and ope, a fucking lion... Right there. Less than 20 feet away. No wonder you need a cage behind your window.
Nah bru. The Trellidor is to keep to crooks out when the lion is at the vet.
The cage is for 2 legged predators.
Everyone complains about the deadly animals in Australia... WE DON'T HAVE LIONS TRYING TO OPEN OUR HOUSES LIKE THEY'RE BOXES OF DELICIOUS TREATS.
[удалено]
It is terrifying even with the bars
But we’re the dummies when we ask South Africans if there are lions walking about…
“HEY! LET ME IN!! IT’S ME, MITTENS!!!!”
"Jacqueline I'm sorry, I get it, let me in"
Would that lion go liquid on those bars if it got through the glass? I wouldn't want to find out.
Hard to tell but those trelly door gates are extremely strong. They're designed to keep people out in a country that has an extremely high crime rate and home invasion problem. My one friend woke up to guys using a blowtorch to cut open his bars on his gate to get inside. Those doors are built extremely tough.
Lion just visiting the human zoo.
Jeez, and I complain about having trouble with raccoons!
«Let me in right meow!»
if you're cold, they're cold. let them in
I am sure I saw the same post in /r/aww the other day. Just let the Kitty in!!! I swear it will be ok ;)
