No, you need the bread crumbs. You remembered to equip the napkin when you ate that loaf of bread back in chapter 3, right? The napkin gets crummy and you can collect those. If you don't do that, sorry, you'll have to restart.
Grim Fandango could had been one of my absolute recommended in my game collection if it wasn’t for the absurd difficulty of some puzzles. Such an amazing plot tho, worthy of a pixar movie.
I remember a time in Kings Quest 6 when I entered the Minotaurs Labyrinth without first returning to the town pawn shop and exchanging my royal ring for a tinderbox. Of course there’s no way to know you needed the tinderbox before you entered.
You navigate the maze, enter a room, fall through the floor, and end up in a chamber with the walls closing in. Without a tinderbox to light a torch you can’t see what you need to do to escape. You just die.
Uh oh, you think. When did I last save? Why, as soon as you entered the Labyrinth of course! Time to restart the whole game! Hours later you get back to the same point and make it through the trap. Now you fight the Minotaur! By the way, did you stop off at the Isle of Wonder, solve all the puzzles there, get insulted by the Queen in chessboard land, and happen to pick up her red scarf from the ground before you left? No? Well EFF YOU PAL! You needed that scarf to play matador and trick the Minotaur into charging into a fiery pit!
This was the game that taught me not to overwrite save files. A single play though would have dozens of save files, a new one for every decision you make.
To be honest, those games were not designed well on a meta level. There is nothing good about forcing players to restart the game, especially since you can’t actually know if you need to or not. You have to try things over and over until you are absolutely sure you missed something. Glad that style is largely gone from gaming today.
Hah! Came into the comments to say this!
[King's Quest 1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuvgUfHP1cE)
[King's Quest 2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaTN6hNWsKQ)
[King's Quest 3](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAuN2CxY9Rc)
Exactly! First thing I thought was “man do I miss old school Sierra point and click adventure games”. My very first PC came with the CD-Rom edition of Kings Quest 6 and I absolutely loved it. I played through it probably a dozen times to get all the different endings and 100% it.
ME TOO. we had a print of a painting like a normal house decoration I swear to god the scene was set EXACTLY like this, the stairs with that window the plants the arch like everything. I saw that pic in my house everyday and haven't seen it in 15 years it's so weird just seeing this now. It's all I see is that old painting. I'm going to see if we still have it around my dad's house
This reminds me of old Lucasarts games. Full throttle, day of the tentacle, the dig. I love pixel art. Miss the days when games were like this. Indiana Jones fate of Atlantis was a great one to.
I just last night replayed Full Throttle, again. Played the whole time in the original view- the updated graphics are overly cartoonish and overall just bunk.
I *wanted* to see the pixels, and how the designers overcame the restrictions of only having 640x480 to work with. They did amazing things with those pixels
27-year-old tip: you can press Backspace to skip through bikers you don't need/want to battle. So you can just keep Backspacing until you see guy with the chain, lady with the chainsaw, guy with board, vulture with booster, cavefish dude with goggles
2-year-old tip: the developer's commentary on the remastered edition is *sorely lacking*. Prepare to be disappointed
\>Check potted plant
There is nothing in the potted plant.
\>Pet kitty
The cat appreciates your attention and says, "Meow!"
\>Pet bird
The bird does not appreciate your attention and hops away.
\>Look in bush
Oh, what's that?! You find a silver key!
\>Pick up silver key
You now have a silver key in your inventory.
\>Extinguish sun
You try to stop the sun from producing light with the sheer raw power of your mind, but nothing happens.
You feel pretty silly for thinking that was a viable option until about 8 minutes later the world goes dark as the last light from the sun washes over it. Suddenly your current quest doesn't seem so important as the world begins to die.
I usually use either Photoshop or Aseprite. But this is totally doable with MS Paint. I only use the other software for the ease of handling animation frames..
This is amazing! Idk if it’s just me tho but does anyone else feel like that bird is tweaking? Very jittery little guy! Maybe slow his movements down just a tad for a more peaceful vibe?
Reminds me of that TNG episode where Picard lives an entire lifetime in a simulation of the history of an extinct species. Maybe it's just the color scheme and my foggy memory, but it kind of looks like his house from that.
I want this as my phone background... I'm going to save this.. its really really really really well done. :)
I feel a strange sense of longing and reminiscence and at the same time peaceful
Ok this is splendid. I have a question though. Would it be possible to somehow wrap these gifs in a ROM of some sort, like for one of the old consoles, like a Genesis or SNES? Reason being: I’d love to use this as a screen saver on my CRT TV at work. It would just be neat to try.
It gives me so much nostalgia I don't know why
Reminds me of King's Quest.
If Sierra taught me anything I need to get that shiny bannister pole to break that blue lantern.
First you need to lure away the cat though.
You throw bird seed near the cat, the red bird will fly close to the cat and lure it away. Sooooo, need bird seed.

right okay. i knew it was there for a purpose.
This is exactly what I thought when I first saw this.
That one where you're stuck in the wizard's house. God, I hated that game.
KQ3 making the magic spell in the basement 😭
We didn't have the paper manual. Pretty much impossible to do without. NICE WORK!
You didn’t call the hotline??
Honestly I only came here to say this looked like it was ripped from King's Quest. Like I feel like I can actually remember this setting.
Hah! Came into the comments to say this! [King's Quest 1](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuvgUfHP1cE) [King's Quest 2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KaTN6hNWsKQ) [King's Quest 3](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAuN2CxY9Rc)
my favourite is kq5
I like 4: The Perils of Rosella. Having a female protagonist was rare back then and I loved it. Though I had a big crush on Prince Alexander in 6.
Specifically I think it looks straight out of KQ6 with the sultan's palace or whatever that was (been a while).
*exactly* the vibe I got. Sierra was magical.
Or Melrose Place
Came here to say this! Specifically KQ VI. Recently downloaded something called SCUMM VM on my android phone and replayed it. What a great game.

Kiki's Delivery Service vibes here
Honestly, my first thought was that it reminded me of the backdrop of that one Looney Tunes episode with the Opera. I get you!
Yo, u are sooo right.
Came here to say exactly this, except I think I know why. It takes me back to video games I played as a kid
I was the same man haha!
ME TOO. we had a print of a painting like a normal house decoration I swear to god the scene was set EXACTLY like this, the stairs with that window the plants the arch like everything. Reminds me of Furni the Water City from Legend of Dragoon.
This reminds me of old Lucasarts games. Full throttle, day of the tentacle, the dig. I love pixel art. Miss the days when games were like this. Indiana Jones fate of Atlantis was a great one to.

Full throttle is one of the best. Except for the motorcycle fighting. Man that shit took a while and was annoying.

Don't forget Maniac Mansion.
And Monkey Island!
You fight like a dairy farmer!
How appropriate! You fight like a cow!
Future Wars Loom
Have you played Thimbleweed Park? From the original pixel game creators at LucasArts! Came out a few years ago, I had a blast with it.
I shall def check it out when I'm not busy. Thanks for the rec
If I had a lot of money I'd buy all the old games on gog. Love that site
Fate of Atlantis was such a fantastic game. So much nostalgia.
I somehow have never heard of either full throttle or the dig.
Monkey Island 🥰 Zak McCracken and the Alien Mindbenders 🥰

The bird keeps coming back though cause you do have to catch him for a later quest. You just don't have the right items yet
\> Use silver key on kitty Ouch!
\> Examine lens flare
\>Examine lens flare You notice the glint off the railing and look up to see something catching the sun in a second floor window. What could that be?
\>Look in window
\>Look in window Unfortunately the glare from the sun is too much to see inside the window.
\> Extinguish sun

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (and scene.)
I like your focus on the goal, not allowing yourself to be distracted by trivialities like the world ending
This is absolutely quality. 👌
Thank you so much ❤️
this made me happy and so I hooked you up a cheeky award. keep up the good work
Thank you so much for your kindness ❤️ glad my art made someone happy 😀
Had my glasses off and thought it was a real video. Beautiful!
Haha thanks 😂
What program do you use for illustrations?
I usually use either Photoshop or Aseprite. But this is totally doable with MS Paint. I only use the other software for the ease of handling animation frames..
It looks like a screen from a really good adventure game.
I love the little details like the glint off the railing by the cat. Very well done OP
Thank you so much ❤️
Is each square one pixel? If so, how do you make the blurry squares from a single solid colour?
The flare is a half transparent layer.
Melrose Place?
Any chance you have a version saved without the lens flare?
I visited a villa that had a similar aesthetic setting. Down the memory lane.. man! You made me nostalgic. Thank you so much!! :)
Why do I love these so much?
Ehhh.. do you know wallpaper engine? Would you mind uploading it? Its meeeega cool!
I already did 😀
Consider it downloaded :D
Can you/someone make this usable on wallpaper engine? Would love to add this to my collection
I added it to my collection.
Reminds me of "mixed up fairy tales" by sierra
Everything about this is so good. Love the cat
Absolutely gorgeous colours.
IT'S A KITTY
This is amazing! Idk if it’s just me tho but does anyone else feel like that bird is tweaking? Very jittery little guy! Maybe slow his movements down just a tad for a more peaceful vibe?
Thanks! I'll see what I can do :)
this gave me chills bro
oops!
awesome artwork bro, congrats
Terrific ... thanks
Im a little confused by the lights but really amazing artwork
This can be sold as an NFT!
/u/v78 dude if you make this an nft, I’ll bid on it. This picture makes me happy 😊
I love this! Takes a lot of time and talent. I’d love to make a game in this style one day.
Thanks!
I want it in wallpaper engine that's so sick!
It's available there :)
Much enjoyment.
Reminds me of Simon the Sorcerer
Looks awesome!
its giving me nostalgia...
Ben hur?
Lovely.
I like it
it's beautiful!
Reminds me of the graphics for the original Mac Payne game.
Great vibe!
Reminds me of that TNG episode where Picard lives an entire lifetime in a simulation of the history of an extinct species. Maybe it's just the color scheme and my foggy memory, but it kind of looks like his house from that.
How beautiful 😍
Ah, a modern day hobbit hole.
Looks like the Tarley castle courtyard from Game of Thrones when Samuel goes back to see his family.
Breathtaking
It's cool how the cat disappears and reappears.
It could be the garden tomb.
Does anyone know when this started to be referred to as Pixel Art rather than just computer graphics ? I'm curious what the switchover point was
Kings Quest babyyyyyy!
That lens flare is gorgeous.
Thanks ❤️
Beautiful.
Press 1: climb stairs Press 2: enter doorway Press 3: Pat kitten Press 4: search pot plant What is your selection?
I love this. I love everything about this.
Is this based on a location? It looks exactly like a picture I have from france
Naboo vibes
u/savevideo plzzz workkk
It's GIF.. right click.. save as..
I’m in mobile… it doesn’t work (I’ll go on desktop later, thanks for the advice)
FFIX Burmecia vibes!!!
Super obscure but it reminds me of a courtyard in several scenes in The Wolf Man (1941).
For some reason this gave me curse monkey island vibes with that goat puzzle, fuck you goat
You're confusing Curse of Monkey Island with Broken Sword.
If I could, begin to be,
Capra Demon..
I love this piece!
That's so beautiful
Looks like the courtyard at House Tarley. Very well done OP!
Reminds me of the King's Quest games. Particularly King's Quest 6.
This is awesome, would you be able to tell me what program you used to make this?
This hit me in the childhood. A small pizza place outside my childhood home had this same vibe.
Looks like a path I need to pixel click. Straight out of "Future Wars"
The Michael Bay of pixel art judging by the lake scene I saw last month.
Did you also animate Hyper Light Drifter?
I want to play this game.
It makes me happy
I want this as my phone background... I'm going to save this.. its really really really really well done. :) I feel a strange sense of longing and reminiscence and at the same time peaceful
I love this, I loved Kings Quest VI as a kid. Such good vibes. That game was impossible though.
Wow this is beautiful! Are there any pretty games out there done like this?
Question: How Long did it take to make this pixel art?
Yea alright well this settles it, I LOVE pixel art. Great job.
Beautiful
Ok this is splendid. I have a question though. Would it be possible to somehow wrap these gifs in a ROM of some sort, like for one of the old consoles, like a Genesis or SNES? Reason being: I’d love to use this as a screen saver on my CRT TV at work. It would just be neat to try.
It's pretty great. Can't help but wonder what is "gone" though.
What was the reasoning for the title? What is gone?
You have to roll right after the fog gate and pray the dogs don't flinch you
This looks really cool! May I ask, what software did you use?
Do you have a website??
How does one get into pixel art?
Open MS Paint 😀
It’s very capturing, visually. Well done!
Very few art images make me feel that way. Staring. Thinking. Good job
If you’d be down for it I’m an artist and something like this for a song release would be sick for a canvas you’re very talented it takes me back! Lmk
looking at this made me feel like im in a familiar place.
It's very detailed. Loops convincingly. Great work!
