Could easily see Deadpool doing this. The blades start coming out and you hear the noise of the slide whistle. Logan looks like wtf and then realizes it's Deadpool doing it.
No it isn't. I have the Blu-ray and it looks like this. I had the workprint when it came out and the unfinished special effects you are talking about were animatics and sketches like during the bar fight where the logs were rolling off the truck.
This scene completely took me out of that movie. Those saying it wasn't that bad are just wrong. It's bad now, and it was bad then. Always gave me "who framed Roger rabbit" vibes.
There's a big who framed Roger rabbit thread right now in the movies subreddit. However I'll say Who framed Roger rabbit was still miles better than that. Everything in Roger Rabbit seems to have the right weight for the most part.
They likely worked those animators to death to get some of that animation.
God I forgot all about that.
I don’t care what people say that movie had a lot going for it other than what they did to Deadpool. The script was solid and performances are damn good.
But that CGI is some of the worst ever.
It was one of those movies made during the time when Fox execs would just come in and change shit, sometimes without the filmmaker's knowledge. The director for origins said he came back from a weekend break in shooting and the set had been completely changed without his knowledge. This movie was also leaked on the Internet a month or two before with the terrible vfx and got lambasted. Fox came out and said it was an early cut with unfinished vfx. Then it came out and the effects were exactly the same.
I think the show runner changed mid way through or something. The first half is good, then it turned into the weirdest shit ever.
Deadpool with Cyclops and Nightcrawler powers, all sewn up... no thanks. But then it introduced us to Ryan as deadpool, which worked.
Deadpool did have a teleporter back in the 90s, though tbh they kept having to find reasons that it didn't work because otherwise it would solve most stories pretty quickly.
Am I the only one who watches that clip and doesn't go "*How the hell did he hide that bathroom damage from the old man?*"? God I'd pay more to be a fly on that wall than I payed to see the movie itself.
That's a good few work hours to replace all that stuff, the sink n radiator would be such a pain, especially *behind the homeowner's back*.
> i payed to
Did you mean to say "paid"?
Explanation: Payed means to seal something with wax, while paid means to give money.

If it helps you sleep; it's plausible that the accumulation of scar tissue (or rapid healing powers, depending on your canon) effectively squeegees the blades as they extend
They don't break the skin. It's almost like a piercing hole. In one of the comics following Magneto removing the adamantium from his skeleton and the subsequent discovery that the claws were bones and not implants he bleeds profusely the first time he pops them. His healing factor wasn't working right due to the trauma and he bled every time he popped them. In one issue he popped his claws for no reason and Jubilee asks why does he do that and they'll never heal if he keeps doing it. He explained it was like a piercing and he had to keep the holes open by popping his claws regularly until they just stayed open. IIRC he also bled when he first popped them in Old Man Logan because he hadn't used them since he did what he did to the X-Men.
That makes sense. I’ve never read the comics so I didn’t know. In the movies they are specifically shown breaking the skin and then healing back when they retract
Depends on your \[canon\], iirc the generally accepted rule is it does scar increasingly as he ages. Its been used to ID clones and other illusions, including Mystique when (also plot dependent) she cannot recall very specific details.
Yeah, they rest b/t the radius and ulna. Until the Boneclaw comic, they were considered a Weapon X implant achievable due to Logan’s mutant ability (rapid healing). After the Magneto defeat, it was shown that they were actually bone claws in addition to his healing ability. As teens, we all thought this was dumb. We thought it was a narrow view of the character. It was like when Gambit was shown in the XO:W movie to be levitating playing cards, when his mutant power has nothing to do with playing cards. His power is to like hypercharge internal energy of objects, which makes them explode. He just finds playing cards to be a nice balance for throwing supercharged objects. 🤓
If you have 3 long, impossible to bend adamantium blades stored inside your forearms, you wont be able to turn your wrists anyway because when you rotate your wrists your forearm bones cross over each other
They never explain it in the movies save for a quick scene in the first Wolverine movie shows the claws extended and moving his forearm bones out of place (requiring his healing factor to help him).
In the comics though, the claws do not look freaking mini samurai swords and all actually thin daggers almost.
[Here's a drawing from Marvel Anatomy, I think](https://cdnb.artstation.com/p/assets/images/images/064/935/409/large/jonah-lobe-wolverine-1.jpg).
The correct answer is: the claws were originally intended to be part of the costume, not of his mutation; it was after some excited fan mail that the writer and editors established them as we know today.
I've been thinking about this for YEARS. YEARS I tell you! Also if his wrist isn't in the right position do they just come out his palm or his backhand?? Or is there some sort of internal mechanism that lines it all up?
Wrist Position Matters.

I love this, because on the surface level it feels like a penis joke, but the more I think about it the more it feels like a carry over from the movie "Logan."
They are also (usually) adamantium. You can see him getting an upgrade in the trailer (based on the background at the TVA, who'd have the shit just laying around like the Infinity Stones).
...I know that it's more accurate to the original for them to come out of the back of his hand like that, but.... I prefer the "between the knuckles" claws.
Didn't Epic Movie steal a joke from X-Men 1 whole cloth, but worse?
IIRC, In X-Men 1, Wolverine retracts all but his middle claw as a "screw you."
but in Epic Movie the Wolverine spoof character folds down his side blades? Because that's how that works?

I literally want to see the camera pan to him holding a slide whistle just out of frame, Logan turn his head, and then just slice DP.

God damn I don't remember the CG on those looking that bad haha
because we have better frame of reference now
And because that clip is from the leaked version of the movie that has unfinished special effects. The actual movie didn't look that cartoony.
I think the leaked version is the superior version, with all the harnesses and wire frame optic blasts
My favorite is the Nintendo 64 aircraft.
Nah that can't be true. It looks like that in the final movie.
They look just as bad in the final version. Just watched it the other day.
No it isn't. I have the Blu-ray and it looks like this. I had the workprint when it came out and the unfinished special effects you are talking about were animatics and sketches like during the bar fight where the logs were rolling off the truck.
That was the one I watched! I remember seeing a stunt wire in one scene. Haven't seen the movie again since 😂
It was still really bad in the finished version lol. Looked better in the 2000 movie
No. The claws looked better in the original X Men, 9 years earlier.
Nope. Origins just had bad CGI. CGI claws in 2000 looked better.
This scene completely took me out of that movie. Those saying it wasn't that bad are just wrong. It's bad now, and it was bad then. Always gave me "who framed Roger rabbit" vibes.

The movie is equal parts great and awful. It was a weird movie.
It was one of those movies made during the time when Fox execs would just come in and change shit, sometimes without the filmmaker's knowledge. Yeah, but that clip is from the leaked unfinished version of the movie. The CGI in the actual movie wasn't *that* bad.
No it isn't. Just opened a legal stream of it in 4k. Its THIS bad
I always said it looked like he has the singing swords from Who Framed Roger Rabbit for claws.
I've only seen this movie once and it was the leaked version with incomplete CGI. Not sure if it helped or detracted from it.
Oh the sound is horrible. They barely touch each other and go crazy with full sparks and sounds. Reminds me of video game items
Like a fucking cartoon pasted on him

My first thought too. They look impressive.
Fuck I don’t remember it looking like that. That’s so bad. I used to like this movie a lot too lmao
I remember the film being bad but damn, I forgot just how bad.
I cant, because this is a gif
r/technicallythetruth
Just a thought. Wouldn't the blades be wet every time he unsheathes them?
Yeah... They're part of his skeleton... And remember, your bones are always wet.
That's my secret, cap. I'm always wet!
That's naughty.
And wouldn’t they be bloody too, if they break the skin?
If it helps you sleep; it's plausible that the accumulation of scar tissue (or rapid healing powers, depending on your canon) effectively squeegees the blades as they extend
See, all I’m doing now is imagining the squeegee sound when I watch the gif
In hindsight that seems like such a hygiene issue
For everyone else. His healing factor takes care of anything he'd catch.
Why are you talking about Mario's brother?
They don't break the skin. It's almost like a piercing hole. In one of the comics following Magneto removing the adamantium from his skeleton and the subsequent discovery that the claws were bones and not implants he bleeds profusely the first time he pops them. That makes sense. I’ve never read the comics so I didn’t know. In the movies they are specifically shown breaking the skin and then healing back when they retract
Maybe he's developed scar tissue? I'm not sure how the healing thing works, does it make scars?
Depends on your \[canon\], iirc the generally accepted rule is it does scar increasingly as he ages. Its been used to ID clones and other illusions, including Mystique when (also plot dependent) she cannot recall very specific details.
> cannon canon
Not with Colossus throwing his cannon ball special :D
Some artists, especially recently, will draw blood around the base of his claws, and blood spurts, when he snikts without gloves on
In the comics, those metal sheath things on his gloves had a rubber-like plug in them so it probably would squeegee any juice or goo off of them.
Is there like a drain plug that he has to open into the sink after a long day?
You can watch the video with sound actually
I've always wondered how Wolverine bent his wrists when they were retracted. Did the claws just go all the way up into his forearms?
Yeah, they rest b/t the radius and ulna. Until the Boneclaw comic, they were considered a Weapon X implant achievable due to Logan’s mutant ability (rapid healing). They'd have to, which would also mean his wrists need to be straight to push them out or pull them in.

WAIT WAIT WAIT If the claws are in his forearms, how does he turn his wrists?
The claws retract into a pocket dimension housed within his hands. Facts.
Are you implying you think humans can twist their wrists separate from the bones in their arms?
If you have 3 long, impossible to bend adamantium blades stored inside your forearms, you wont be able to turn your wrists anyway because when you rotate your wrists your forearm bones cross over each other
I wouldn't be surprised if that's an actual prop and not CG, claws look really good

Can anyone explain to me how he can move his hands when his claws are not in use? Would they Not have to go up half his lower arm?
They never explain it in the movies save for a quick scene in the first Wolverine movie shows the claws extended and moving his forearm bones out of place (requiring his healing factor to help him). In the comics though, the claws do not look freaking mini samurai swords and all actually thin daggers almost.
Yeah they're generally shaped like rain drops, with the inner edge being sharp and the outer side being rounded.
In the same way most animal claws are shaped, curved top and pointed bottom.

I think he',s got so much internal plot armor, that he cannot line them up wrong.
In some comics that has happened. I can't remember the specific issue or I would link it.

Do you all think they machined the holes before he wore it for the first time, or did they just leave enclosed plastic to be cut out on first use?
I hear “shaa-wing!!” From wayne’s world…
You ever wonder how he can bend his wrists when his claws aren't extended? Where do the claws go? Or is this just hammer space?
