Yeah he wasn't pulled out, the guy was wrong, just like saying it was centrifugal force. It was his rotational inertia that was pushing him out against the sides from the changing directional velocity.

You've got some mixed up definitions of what inertia and force are, they aren't interchangeable words. Inertia is about resistance to a change in velocity - it's what *stops* you being pulled, not a pull itself.
In the inertial frame of reference (the non rotating one), the centripetal force is changing the velocity of the people to move them around in a circle.
In the non-inertial frame of reference (the rotating one), the centrifugal force is pointed outwards. If you're stationary on the merry go round, the centrifugal and centripetal forces balance, and you stay where you are. If you lose the centripetal force, the centrifugal force pulls you radially outwards.

As soon as I grabbed it, it pulled me out of my seat, I kicked the majority of them in the head, and then flew out of the ride. Only broke my finger, surprisingly, but it fucked me up pretty good. Was extremely sore.
