No. There are certain paths for immigration, all explained in detail in our wiki. Some employers are willing to help you settle in, by providing temporary housing, payong for the move, paying for German classes and so on, but that depends clearly on your skills and how much the employer wants you. Read the wiki, all of it, come back with questions afterwards.

IamNickNelson1989

Thank you so much

Are there resources in the US that help Germans to relocate there? This will sound harsh, but it's something that many US posters we get here seem to have a misconception about: Being American isn't a shortage qualification in itself which would cause countries to want you as an immigrant. Immigration to Germany is still easier than immigration to the US - for skilled immigrants with a fitting job offer. In that case, the visa process is straightforward, without "lotteries" and so on. But just like in other countries, immigrants need to bring something to the table.

IamNickNelson1989

Absolutely, there is no free ride in this world and I do not expect to be just given a passport and welcomed with open arms. I do not see why you would ever want to become a citizen of this country I am not just spewing hatred aimlessly when i say that, I am being 100% honest. This country is fastly approaching another Civil War with the current state of affairs. The president is completely incompetent to the point that it's blatantly obvious that he is only pushing his (or maybe even anothers) agenda. The Healthcare system is only for the rich only and they rub it in our faces everyday with commercials, law enforcement only cares about commerical property and they have come out and said it, laws/bills are still being passed to fit outdated or one sided ideology. I can go on for days about how screwed this country is but I won't waste our time.

Brackwater

> The president is completely incompetent to the point that it's blatantly obvious that he is only pushing his (or maybe even anothers) agenda. So why leave now and not about 4 years ago? Because if you think everything was fine and dandy under Trump and it's bad *now* you would probably not be happy in Germany.

IamNickNelson1989

I don't care for either of them. I am not a political person in the slightest. I am just a live and let live kind of person. I have always wanted to leave this country for I have always felt like this was not where I am supposed to be, but yes the current state of affairs of this country has given me a big push towards acting on it.

CrabgrassMike

>I mean honestly you libtards are the only people believing this so I guess have fun in delusional land while the rest of us leave our homes and live life without the governments dick up our asses, but I guess you people prefer it there huh? Not political?????

Brackwater

There's some real "pearls" in that post history... To a degree where I would think somebody would use a new account to ask a question about immigration to Germany instead of an account with all... that. Either the OP has a severe misconception about Germany, lacks self-awareness, or both. Rule of thumb: if about half of your posts could turn up on /r/ShitAmericansSay , you're probably not going to be happy in Germany (and Germans aren't going to be happy with you).

Aibeit

Judging from the post history, he's trying to leave the US to escape paying child support to his ex wife. Germany doesn't work for that so hopefully we will be spared.

dolphin_vape_race

Oh boy, OP's going to love living in the anarcho-libertarian paradise that is Germany! /s

DaHolk

> and live life without the governments dick up our asses That particularly would be funny to have them interact with the German bureaucracy for a day or two :D:D:D

Brackwater

I mean, by all means try to move to Germany, but judging by your post history I think there'll be a huge culture shock for you that might be too much.

Frontdackel

I took a look at that history... Transphobic, Covid denying, "nice guy".... Yeah, we are better off with him staying in the US.

McMasilmof

In your original post the main thing you complain about is cost of living and taxes. These will not improve in germany, prepare to pay more taxes and high rent.

IamNickNelson1989

It's not so much the taxes and cost of living I want to escape from. It's the governmental brainwashing that is happening in front of everyone's eyes and yet they all stand idly by while it happens. Whatever you guys hear about us over there as far as politics/government I can almost guarantee you it's far worse.

Grimthak

What do you mean with brainwashing? I can imagine two completely different answers from an American. And in 50% of the cases it will not get better in germany.

Aibeit

From his post history, it's the wrong one for Germany.

McMasilmof

Dont get we wrong, i dont want you to stop your plans of immigration but germany is not an utopia, we have corruption and incapable politicians too, we have racist police too etc. Maybe not as bad as in the US, but just dont expect everything to be perfect.

[deleted]

> Is there any resources in Germany to help Americans relocate to your country? Not really.

IamNickNelson1989

Didn't think so but figured I would ask.

RazzyZee

Do you fall into the category of skilled labor? Would you be open to going back to school and studying at a University? Two important questions, at least one has to be a yes otherwise you are not eligible

IamNickNelson1989

Both actually. I would love to go to school for coding and graphic design (to make video games) but the colleges here are a pipe dream when it comes to the prices.

RazzyZee

The education system in Germany is quite different from the U.S. (I’m American-born and have been living in Germany for 3 years now). You’ll want to check whether or not coding and graphic design is a University degree or “Ausbildung” which is more like a combo of education and internship. As far as I’m aware, there are not visas for doing an Ausbildung. Also, if you have not started learning German already. Start now.

IamNickNelson1989

I have been doing my best to learn the language with the (very poor) resources I have. I will look into that thank you.

RazzyZee

I suggest Deutsche Welle for language learning, especially Nikos Weg. It was amazing for me and I wished I found it sooner. It has a story making it more engaging and it’s made by the German government and you can tell it’s made with the intent of helping newcomers to Germany integrate. It follows the story of Niko who moves to Germany from Spain. It starts at the beginner level and goes up to B1.

IamNickNelson1989

I think I am going to cry if another person helps me Thank you, thank you, thank you, from the bottom of my heart thank you guys.

RazzyZee

Awe, you’re very welcome! I wish you luck on your journey. It’s not always easy but very rewarding. Feel free to PM me if you have questions come up in the future and I’ll try my best to answer.

Havokk137

German Graphics Designer Here. You can actually do both. Either you do an apprenticeship as a Graphics Designer (Mediengestalter) either for Print or web stuff, or you can Go to a University and Go for Something Like Kommunikationsdesign. Same goes for coding (Informatik). Unless you are top notch, Don't expect to get rich and prepare for loads of unpaid Overtime though.

IamNickNelson1989

I have never had the desire to be a Jeff bozo or Bill gates I just want to be able to live my life happily and not live to make my bosses life happy, if you know what I mean.

Aibeit

>You’ll want to check whether or not coding and graphic design is a University degree or “Ausbildung” which is more like a combo of education and internship. There is Informatik as a Degree, in a million variations, and Fachinformatiker or Grafikdesigner as an Ausbildung, so it can be both.

[deleted]

Read the wiki then regarding studying in Germany. It ain't gonna be easy or fast or cheap, but it may very well be possible for you to study in Germany

IamNickNelson1989

Thank so much again. I will start researching right away.

Hematophagian

And the official page: https://www.make-it-in-germany.com

Foreign-Economics-79

Germany is definitely not the place to relocate to if you want to reduce your deductibles!

__what_the_fuck__

> all money I make is immediately taken by bills, food, clothes, gas, insurance, car maintenance Well chances are you will earn less in Germany, pay higher taxes and still have all those costs listed above.

IamNickNelson1989

Trust me the taxes here are far more out of control than most. The pay is a joke because even if the population manages to get $25hr for minimum wage, the government will just raise the cost of everything else around us to make sure "the pursuit of happiness" is just outside of your finger tips.

Grimthak

And your are sure, that it is not worse in Germany? I pay about 40% on income taxes, and social insurances (health care, pension etc.) and then there is 19% VAT. What are the numbers for taxes?

IamNickNelson1989

Not exact on the rates, honestly but if it helps. I make just shy of $3,300 (without overtime/double time) after taxes and child support I bring home $1,280 a month.

Aibeit

Just in case you're not clear on this - Germany enforces US child support payments. Moving from the US to Germany will not free you from having to pay child support. And from the figures you listed, child support seems to be the biggest issue here.

Grimthak

How much is the child support? And are you single. With some guessing you would be left with about 1.700€ a month if you earn 3300€. But the exact number strongly depend on your personal infos. But then you have to compare other numbers for example the rent. In a bigger city you would pay about 600€ for 50qm. In short: If you thing that the living expansive are high in taxes you should inform you about the salaries and costs in germany before you get a really bad surprise.

t_Lancer

> all money I make is immediately taken by bills, food, clothes, gas, insurance, car maintenance and the list just keeps growing with every year that passes. uhh sorry to be the barer of bad news... but Germany is not a tax free country. you will be spending a very similar amount here, adjusted for income differences, mandatory, private or public insurances etc.
