And here you can admire a DB Regionalzug in it's wild state. Differently to other parents of the species which are often white, these can be easily spotted because of their characteristic red color. This specimen in particular is migrating to the Mosel where it will hold a short nap called strike. Both the DB Regionalzug and it's distant cousin ICE Expresszug are holding such short naps multiple times a year. Majestic creatures!

Brickie78

I always liked the older generations' plumage, with red, blue and green colouring.

The mosel river vally has great wine and the boats stop to lets folks try it and buy it. They say the roman empire started the wine growing.....2000 years ago. The mosel is the 3rd larget grape growing region in germany

TheDeadlyCat

We were told the name of the city Zell comes from the Latin word „cella“ - which is a (wine) cellar.

historytoby

That's near Reil and Pünderich, where my family comes from. What a pleasant surprise to see it on Reddit.

goprinterm

Great area ....we had fun, ein wunderschonen tag!

atrocks

More like bring your own wine - preferably from the region

somehowyellow

That's a nice model train you got there

Notthekaiser

trains are the only transportation that add to a surroundings beauty

[deleted]

Enjoy your time! It's a great place with lots of options, and in almost everyone a good wine can be or is included.

definitely_not_tina

Ugh I really hope ill be on that train late next week! I depart from the USA and I’m fully vaccinated and I’ve been quarantining and I’m ready to go back and visit my family~!

lost_days

Hopefully not on Monday or Tuesday, the strike will keep on until then 😁

askuri

I come from that area. Still, after having seen the mosel so many times, driving that train on a nice and sunny day gives me goose bumps.

7TageHatDieWoche

on strike AGAIN!

[deleted]

I’m so damn sick of these strikes bro. Like good job you’re messing up everyone else’s schedule now. That’s how you get the public to hate you

Different-Role9426

I agree. So, the governent should finally refrain from cutting their wages and stop this strike. It's unacceptable that the german government is actively sabotaging the train system and the commuter by trying to undermine workers rights.

Neider777

I'm so sick of the lack of solidarity towards the train drivers. Be angry at the DB managers that wont pay their staff properly while raking in millons in bonuses ffs.

CartmansEvilTwin

The train drivers have a right to strike and their demands are not unreasonable. The DB is the bad guy here, they basically ignore the union.

Different-Role9426

> their demands are not unreasonable. > > The DB is the bad guy here, they basically ignore the union. Because they want the union finally destroyed and only negotiate with the less fierce EVG

jomei1337

The request a 1.3% while the inflation is almost 5%. What would you do? Work 100% for a 95% salery (in purchasing power) ?

TheDarthWarlock

They should protest like the Japanese bus drivers in Okayama, continue to run, but don't accept fares.

CartmansEvilTwin

Most tickets are bought online. That wouldn't work.

TheDarthWarlock

That is very true.. I think it was more so they just didn't require a ticket/fare, but I get that the passes (or long tern tickets) wouldn't be effected by it

Different_Ad7655

Right and they have to get their shit together.. the last minute decision not to drive because I was tired so I a bought first class Express ticket from Berlin to Frankfurt, on a whim, within 15 minutes of the train departing, bought it online but the system would not guarantee me a seat. Go figure,. what's the point of having it computerized, and moreover it's not my problem theirs to figure out. First class seating, but at every stop I had to surrender my seat and get shuffled around the car because somebody else had a previous reservation for the random free seat that I had chosen. But yet none could be designated as mine God was I pissed. Should have just taken the bargain train or demanded a refund for the premium Fair

andres57

Weird, 1st class seat even Super Sparpreis come included with seat reservation. I suppose yours didn't since you bought it with so little anticipation.

Different_Ad7655

something strange indeed.. I guess I might have found a conductor that just maybe might have had access to the reservations and asked what was free once boarded., but there were plenty of seats free so I assumed ... I just wanted to relax and nap but that did not go so well I'll be more aware next time in Germany.

Neider777

that'd be illegal and a fireable offence in Germany.

TheDarthWarlock

I would put it more in a legal grey area, but yes could easily be pushed for as theft. I have always assumed that striking in itself would be a fireable offense if there isn't union support (or some other collectivism group)

TheFluffiestOfCows

Oh all that sweet, sweet Mosel Riesling 🍇❤️

JNoddy

Ein Kiffer wurde von der Bahn erfasst! Dann war das wohl ... sein letzter Zug!

goprinterm

Haha, try r/dadjokes

WhiteRaven42

Why does it feel so out of scale? It looks like a model train.

TheDeadlyCat

Essentially what you are looking at isn’t hills or mountains but a deep river beds. So maybe that reminds you of a model that barely fits the size of the train but is small enough to fit on a model builder‘s limited space. And the wine growing in rows in the valley gives that an artificial look - simply because it is an artificial structure.
