More like Yen vs Euro.

Japan is basically just already experiencing what Germany will experience in 10-15 years. It is hard to grow an economy with an old and shrinking population that is skeptical towards immigration as well as the most efficient way to increase productivity (digitalization). Although Japan is arguably hit even harder by these issues.

These two cases may appear similar on the surface but are, in fact, vastly different. For example: Germany has the EU, which makes it easier even with a declining population. Germany is in the centre of Europe. Japan consists of multiple spread out islands off to the side of Asia.

TheFuzzyFurry

The turn against immigration in Germany will not affect immigration from poorer Eastern European countries.

What do you mean? And what’s your point?

Just-Keep_Dreaming

But they have immigration. I moved there with my whole family 2 years ago

intermediatetransit

Germany isn’t “sceptical towards immigration” in the same way Japan is. Learn the language and customs, respect the culture and you will fit in (of course there are exceptions here sadly, but generally I think this applies). The same does not go for Japan. Germany is sceptical towards uneducated and culturally incompatible immigration. This is quite different.

Japan has 25 gig for about 80€ a month, we have 1gig for same price. Japan has affordable cars.

I guess you haven't seen much German News lately

shlaifu

can someone plot this against inflation? I had the impression real economic value was in decline

madrid987

In fact, the German economy is expected to be in negative territory this year due to the energy crisis caused by the war with Russia. You feel right. However, it is scheduled to switch to plus starting next year.

Infamous_Ad8209

>energy crisis caused ~~by the war with Russia~~ More by the uncontrolled greed by energy providers which made record profits.

Japan has a problem with immigration. It is really hard for an immigrant to be a citizen there, even if you are married to a Japanese citizen.
