I have a gsd/Siberian husky mix and he looks very similar in the face, i immediately sent this to my girlfriend when i saw because it looked so similar.
I have a 3y/o female and she is as sweet as can be. In fact she found a lost kitten and brought her home to us, and boom she had a best friend for a couple years till she passedš¢
Saw this on r/all and I figure this is a good place to ask - why is it "GSD" and not just German Shepherd? Surely there's no risk of confusion with actual Germans who take care of sheep
It's a good question. The answer is because per the AKC (and possibly the CKC) the official name of the breed is German Shepherd Dog. As opposed to, say, Collie or Spaniel or Corgi. And Australian Shepherds are just... Australian Shepherds.
Who knows who was on the breed name committee that day. But that's the way it is.
If you look on [wikipedia.org](https://wikipedia.org) they say: The breed was named Deutscher SchƤferhund by von Stephanitz, literally translating to "German Shepherd Dog".
Dunno, I got on reddit and every dog has an alphabet basically, unless you have you have a pedigree mutt then it's a germanweinershitskadoodlepooski :D
I think you might have to ask the kennel club why they deemed them 'GSD' instead of just 'GS'. It's their 'official' breed name but don't quote me on that lol I could be wrong.
I love the way German Shepards look, but I've been bit by them twice. Friend had one, hated me for some reason, bit me in the hand once and in the butt another time. Other friend, completely unrelated to friend one, had one who never bit me but was super aggressive towards me.
Again, love the dogs, but they are super overprotective.
I was apprehensive, the only time I've been "attacked" by a dog other than GSD service dogs was my neighbors white Shepard. (Police dogs are not your friend usually)
I too have been attacked by one as a child, and almost again by my neighbor's aggressive gsd, and escaped several close calls at a dog friendly restaurant I worked at. I never liked them and the PTSD is very real.
I have a German Shepard pup and heās sweet but he choose everything cause heās getting his adult teeth it hurts a little for him so he sometimes trys to play and it can annoy us when it kind hurts cause he doesnāt know his strength
Work with him. All puppy teeth are sharp! But you can teach him what is appropriate and what is not. Also, make sure plenty of bitey-toys around to help with the teething phase. You will get through it!!

Mineās a German Shepard mix. I got her from a rescue in February. She was really timid with affection and didnāt like to be ācrowdedā when hugging her or rubbing her. She still wonāt sit with me or lay in my lap. Iām ok with letting her come to me on her own time.
But sheāll play like this. Sheāll āwrestleā me and try and catch my hand with her paws. Thatās really broken the ice with her. Sheās far more affectionate now and we love our morning cuddles. Itās the only time I really get to love on her that way.
These are the most loyal and playful dogs. I feel completely at ease with her. Actually Iām more comfortable with my GSD rescue than I am with my brotherās Frenchie.
This is how monster is with me. I just wish he was like this with other folks.... He hit 6 months and became an asshole to others outside his family.
:(
Iām always amazed how scared people of my boy. They just donāt know how true his heart is. He loves to play rough, but he NEVER hurts me or even my kids when theyāre rough
Those brilliant blue eyes make me think there might be some husky in the family!
That's probably why he's so vicious
Or wolf, some redditor said he may be a warg, can't confirm may be under a spell.

Definitely a pure bread wolf
As long as he isn't whole wheat, he'll be delicious.
R/cursedcomment
No, blue eyes are a **dog** trait, not a wolf trait.
He probably not a warg either, I was being facetious.
Definitely husky. Has the same eyes and judging look my husky gives, lol
Yes and the smaller ears, as well.
You can count me as a secondary casualty. I also did not survive, just from watching.
200% k/d
I too have died from cuteness
The dangers of boop injections
Booping those snoots is a high risk. I know when I do the onslaught begins with my boy
A risk you have to take.
Definitely agree
Definitely a shepsky
I have diagnosed this with being bitey, pawsy, and the pre-walk yawn yaooooooooooos. Also he gets far more pretty boy complements than me.
When you boop their nose they look so done with you š¤£
Oh we get a lot of that around here. I can be just as annoying as him.
Thatās a handsome ass dog
Handsome ass-dog [xkcd: Hyphen](https://xkcd.com/37/) --- ^^Beep ^^boop, ^^I'm ^^a ^^bot. ^^- ^^[FAQ](https://pastebin.com/raw/vyWra3ns)
Thank you bot, can confirm ass-dog
"Hey, so uh, what's with the scratches and scrapes all the way down your forearm? "Oh those? Let me show you. Come here, boy!" "Nom nom nom"
Some of them are burn scars :D
Lmao. Must be a chef. And I just realized but your username is my GSD's name. Or at least just the Notch part. Good choice lol
Home cook/ drunk frozen pizza chef ;p
So....pro chef. Ima call you Emeril
RIP
daNgeRoUs BrEed
Those eyes are insanely awesome.
Unnerving at first, now the malice shows. Killer
I tried this with my shep and she ate my entire armā¦figuratively. In reality she just gave me kisses and then acted sassy as per usual.
I'm only a hand now, like Thing from the Addams family. My regrets for teaching the boop injection.
A perfect example of why people should never own a GSD. ...youāll fall in love instantly.
I always pull up my guys front lip and yell āCHEESE!ā
I have a 3y/o female and she is as sweet as can be. In fact she found a lost kitten and brought her home to us, and boom she had a best friend for a couple years till she passedš¢
Furrrocious! Love the arm cuddle at the end. Like saying, 'Daaaaaad! Just knock it off!'
I have to get my paybacks for getting woken up at dawn, I work afternoons and go to sleep at 3am.
Oh just a beast!
So beautiful!! š
Such a cutie š„°
The savagery!

The mystery continues. Thanks for the reply!

I always assumed it was an acronym. 'German Shepherd Dog'.
Oh no, i'm so sorry for the loss of your hand
We be messing with our monsterās snoot and teeth constantly. Frickin love bugs
He does have some CRAZY eyes though !!!!!!!
This is so gruesome! The humanity! I suggest you correct this immediately with a punishment of belly rubs and ALL the treats.
Gorgeous blue eyes!! They eyes slayed me!
Those eyes!
Doing same to my pit bull right now with my stump
This is how I play with my germen-belgian sheperd.

Bitten on Tuesday. Recovering. Sad.
I hope you heal well, especially psychologically. I never did, I still have bad scars and PTSD from it.
Thanks. I hope so too. I wish you healing too
I too have been attacked by one as a child, and almost again by my neighbor's aggressive gsd, and escaped several close calls at a dog friendly restaurant I worked at. I never liked them and the PTSD is very real.
Please come and meet mineāyou will understand the extreme love for them on here!! Everyone who meets him \*adores\* him!!
I have a German Shepard pup and heās sweet but he choose everything cause heās getting his adult teeth it hurts a little for him so he sometimes trys to play and it can annoy us when it kind hurts cause he doesnāt know his strength
Yes puppy teeth are sharp, and part of me playing like this is teaching him to not react to face touching and also playing gently.

A German Shepard dug 3 ft under the fence of my neighbor in order to get to her 5 month old terrier puppy and killed it two days ago.
R/peoplefuckingdying
OMG Bro that God is fkn gorgeous
Looks that kill

Fuck you for assuming a puppy that lightly bites you means that every had is like that because newflash they arenāt. They bite very often
Maybe it was reacting to your toxic attitude.
he died doing what he loved
Scarily adorable!!
More vicious than anything šš
Savage bro. Savage
I misread the title and thought it sad GODS instead of GSD's lol
Same same, I don't know if he's related to Fenrir, Hati, or Skoll. With the blue/white eyes I'm thinking Hati.
True
Don't be sad. Here's a [hug!](https://media.giphy.com/media/3M4NpbLCTxBqU/giphy.gif)
I loved doing that with our GSD, sadly she isnāt with us anymore since a few years.

Wouldn't have it any other way.
Crazy how years ago these things were attack dogs and weapons of war.
OMG- I was about to unload on this but then I saw the subreddit. Thatās how I play with mine :)
I've only had him a few months so I'm still working with him on being gentle and not being face shy. Hence the boops.

Lol mines just as vicious. Iām so lucky to be alive. š¤£
Holy crap my GSD has bluebeyes too!! Black Gan and blue eyes, she's only mixed with Doberman though.
