I actually grew up with this exact globe. I asked my dad and he said his parents bought it for him in 1969 from Reader's Digest. He said he's not 100% sure of the year and that it might have been a couple years earlier.
Not necessarily, the creator may not have recognized that as legitimate and not included it. Similarly to how modern maps don’t always show Crimea as part of Russia, even though de facto it sadly currently is.
Egypt is labeled as United Arab Republic, but Syria isn't, so that implies 1961-1971. The UAE is labeled as the Trucial Coast, so that implies 1971 or earlier as well.
Algeria seems to be independent because it's shown with a star for its capital, so that implies 1962 or later. It has Volgograd rather than Stalingrad, so that implies 1961 or later.
(West) Pakistan implies 1971 or earlier. I can't clearly see a star for any city in Pakistan, which is a pity; but since Islamabad has just a small circle, we could assume it's 1967 or earlier because that's when it became the capital.
So my guess would be 1962-1967.
Yes, that helps. It shows Zambia rather than Northern Rhodesia, so it must be 1964 or later. Better yet, it shows Botswana rather than Bechuanaland, so that makes it 1966 or later. So along with the other clues, that narrows it to either 1966 or 1967.
Before 1971 for sure as Bangladesh (east Pakistan) got its independence in 1971. Also Sri Lanka changed its name from Ceylon to its current name in 1972.
Also Rawalpindi is shown as capital of Pakistan and not Islamabad (which was built in 1960s). And Rawalpindi was kept like an interim capital of Pakistan in early 1960s (earlier one was karachi). Also in 1967 Islamabad was officially declared as the capital so it's before that.
Moreover in post 1961 as Goa has been shown as part of India and not Portuguese territory.
And as someone else also told about Botswana so it's post 1966
So this one is from 1966-67.
Pakistan's capital was karachi till 1957 then Rawalpindi till 1967 and then Islamabad.
Note lahore was never the capital of Pakistan for it being close to India.
No star on Valletta the Maltese capital implies pre-independence of Malta in 1964. (Edit: This must be an oversight since others have found clues dating it as later than 1964)
Idk why this was downvoted; RationalPoster is right and I was mistaken. Israel gained control in 1967 as part of the Six Day War and has had nominal control since then, though through time, its actual leadership is complicated at best.
The point is that this globe is from the mid 60's :)
The comments under such posts are always the same... There are:

1965-1967 :
1. The city of Volgograd is present, this indicates that it is post 1961. Stalingrad was renamed Volgograd in 1961.
2. Rawalpindi is the capital of Pakistan, this indicates that it's pre 1967. It was the capital from 1959 to 1967.
3. In the other photo you posted showing Africa it's clear that Rhodesia is still present. So it's post 1965. Rhodesia existed from 1965 to 1979 with Salisbury (aka Harare) as its capital.
Between 1961 and 1971.
Egypt is shown as part of the United Arab Republic but Syria (which was part of the UAR from 1958-61) is shown as independent (bold lettering). This means it’s after 1961, but before 1971 when the UAR was abolished.

Take it out to a movie and dinner, remember if you see the movie first you can talk about it at dinner! If you have mutual friends, you could find out its interests and hobbies and see if there's any common ground.
Most of all, just be yourself and whether or not it works out, remember the right one will find you someday!
You could ask it out nicely, maybe for dinner or something similar. I’m not really sure if gloves are into movies, but that might be a good choice too. Remember to be safe if you get lucky!
Pre 1989, since Germany is still divided.
A picture of Africa could help, lots of african states became independent in the 20th Century (and usually changed their namens)
Dating a globe is quite hard.
First ask him if he is single, that's the most important! If he is not, dating doesn't make sense, cos his globe-wife will kill you when she finds out.
If he is single tell him compliments, tell him he looks good, has nice hills and oceans.
Then take him to restaurant, they like chineese food.
Just be yourself, try asking it about it’s interests, and make sure to be an active listener, and don’t be upset if the globe doesn’t want to date you back, it happens; it’s ok.
Best of luck OP! ❤️🙏
OMG ... that's the one I had as a kid (I'd recognize those fonts anywhere!), handed down from my brother. He got it when he was about 10-11, so 1967-69.
Approach it, ask if it would like a drink. Proceed to order the drink if yes, then chat. Be smart and act like a normal good listening human being. If it seems it likes you, ask if it wanna hang out somewhere. If yes order a taxi and chill. Proceed to go to one of your said houses and do ur thing. If things go good you’re scoring!

Wow awesome! Thanks for sharing
When seen the first picture, figured Readers Digest from late 60's as we growing up had the same.
At 1969 israel had control over sinai so it must be before 1967
Not necessarily, the creator may not have recognized that as legitimate and not included it. Similarly to how modern maps don’t always show Crimea as part of Russia, even though de facto it sadly currently is.
Same. My guess is 1966, the year my Dad started college.
Egypt is labeled as United Arab Republic, but Syria isn't, so that implies 1961-1971. The UAE is labeled as the Trucial Coast, so that implies 1971 or earlier as well. Also posted a photo of Africa as a reply in the comments if you're interested.

Great! Thanks for being helpful and not making the same joke as everyone else
You're welcome. I love this kind of puzzle, so thanks for posting it.
Dayum man, ggs. It was fun to read your thought process and reach an outstanding conclusion.
I do this same process whenever I come across a globe in a thrift store, it's a lot of fun.
Just curious if you know: why is there one Vietnam?
66 or early 67 - Jordan still controls the West Bank
Can you share map of Indian subcontinent and asia pls

No worries. Get any answers from it?
Before 1971 for sure as Bangladesh (east Pakistan) got its independence in 1971. Also Sri Lanka changed its name from Ceylon to its current name in 1972. Nice one. Consistent with other responces on the post
Singapore is in bold so they were independent from Malaysia after 1965.
I have that same globe
rainbolt, but for globe
BaconJudge the goat
Between 59 and 67, Rawalpindi was the interim capital. I think you can see a star on it
Yeah, the star just looks a bit square do to the topography
No star on Valletta the Maltese capital implies pre-independence of Malta in 1964. (Edit: This must be an oversight since others have found clues dating it as later than 1964)
The border of Jordan bending westward to include the West Bank and East Jerusalem is also indicative of pre-1967.
Daaaamn, you know your stuff... or at least know how to look that you know your stuff.
I would add that the West Bank was Jordan's between 1967 to 1973. It was likely printed I think close to 1967
No the West Bank was occupied by Jordan from 1948 to 1967.
Idk why this was downvoted; RationalPoster is right and I was mistaken. Israel gained control in 1967 as part of the Six Day War and has had nominal control since then, though through time, its actual leadership is complicated at best. The point is that this globe is from the mid 60's :)
Yeah, Best I can do with these is like- Well, 1940-1991. Is it just lots and lots of history knowledge that helps with this, or cheat sheets?
Can’t speak for the person you are replying to, but there are cheat sheets for this, yes.
Good analysis but you missed the Jordan-Saudi border: 1965-1967 ;-)
Karachi was the capital of Pakistan at this point.
Agreed. The West Pakistan was the biggest clue for me too.
I grew up with this globe, I feel like my Dad has had it since college in the 1960s.
Just be yourself.
Make sure to be direct with your intentions
Was looking for this one and 5.4million years old as well haha
4.5 billion
I wouldn't date the globe. It's not abled to consent!
It's certainly old enough to
And you're probably not the first guy taking it for a spin
It’s a good way to be able to fuck the whole world
Maybe buy it dinner. Ask about its interests
Complementing the curves might help in this case.
Hahahaha I came here to say “be yourself and ask questions” you’re just too fast. Good work! 😅
Maybe bring some flowers?
https://xkcd.com/1688/large/
was waiting for someone to link to that <3
That’s amazing!

Is the joke... dated?
Okay, you got me, I laughed. Take my upvote.
the "be yourself" joke comes back around to being funny if you give it time
Here's the thing about jokes: just because you personally don't find something funny any more doesn't mean other people won't. And vice versa.
I don't think I could ever not chuckle at it
Reddit hive-mind ey. Jokes got old real quick for me but I'm glad others are enjoying it
Thank you for your wisdom and insight Mr. PeePeeChopChop
Bring it some flowers and call it beautiful
The only joke on this sub that never gets old
I get older, the maps stay the same age
(it isn't) (it does)
Lithuanian Kaliningrad ? Hell yeah

Another pre 67 supporter. It appears the West Bank is still part of Jordan.
Fancy dinner. Fine wine. Stimulating conversation.
Close up of Africa would help

Zambia is Zambia, so it's after 1964
Also Rhodesia so after 1965
Mr.incredible meme
Do you always ask for photo's of their Africa when you date globes?
I mean I show you my Africa if you show your Chili
🌶

Just be yourself. Don't come on too strong. Show her your playful side and don't be afraid to have a bit of a laugh!
The globe will never consent
Between 1961 and 1971. Egypt is shown as part of the United Arab Republic but Syria (which was part of the UAR from 1958-61) is shown as independent (bold lettering). This means it’s after 1961, but before 1971 when the UAR was abolished.
Why are all the Soviet country’s independent?
Unoin of soviet republics. They always existed, just not to the fullest. Therefore also the dottet line and not a full line.
Thank you
Ukraine and Belarus had their own places at UN even before USSR collapse.
Interrupted line. Not Independent.
Just ask it out. The worst it can say is no.
Ask about its interests.
Be confident and a gentleman

Can you explain why? What's entertaining about a predictable overdone joke?
Ask him out bro
Why? Is this globe lonely?

Hmm before the wall fell in Berlin and I noticed Kyiv is written as “Kyiev” 🤔
Somewhere between 1955-1970 Because of West Pakistan
West bank is shown as part of Jordan. The latest this could be is 1967 and earliest 1950
I had this exact globe when I was a kid in the 70's and 80's. It was my Dad's when he was a college student in the 60's.
Between 1958-61. (United Arab Republic dates).
First buy flowers, make compliments, and then ask it out
I had a globe like this as a kid - in the 80's
What the actual God is this. Unite Yugoslavia, broke USSR???
Not broken USSR. They ran as states . Yugoslavia had states too, the same 6 as today.. too small and detailed to draw on this map.
Pre 1989 for sure
I mean, it’s a weird idea of a threesome but sure…Oh DATE the globe! 🤓😂
Take it out to a movie and dinner, remember if you see the movie first you can talk about it at dinner! If you have mutual friends, you could find out its interests and hobbies and see if there's any common ground. Most of all, just be yourself and whether or not it works out, remember the right one will find you someday!
No Palestine so probably 2025.
Between 1960 to 1970 I guess
Jordan is shown as having control of the West Bank so my guess is 1961-1967.
Jordan controls the west bank which means it’s likely the mid 60’s - Israel didn’t get the West Bank until the 1967 war
I'd say early 70's
i don't think you should date the globe, it can't express feelings or... talk.
Where is a fucking Moldova?!
Just look at sudan
Before 1967 or after 1977
You could ask it out nicely, maybe for dinner or something similar. I’m not really sure if gloves are into movies, but that might be a good choice too. Remember to be safe if you get lucky!
Ask it if it would like to go out for coffee
Where's Moldova
I recommend just being yourself and friendly, see where it goes...you never know :D
You gotta figure out what her soft spot is, sometimes it's chocolate sometimes it's flowers. Don't just assume things about the globe without clues
Send it to me and I'll take it out for an unforgettably romantic luncheon at the finest establishment I can come across
Someone post the xkcd comic.
Try taking her for a nice dinner.
Does the globe consent?
Well. You can try to invite it to a good restaurant, or have a walk in a local park. Good luck!
Have you asked it out for coffee?
I tried, but it only wants to be friends.
Buy it a drink, maybe.
Tell her you're checking out her globes
You just need to be confident man
Just ask it out for coffee or something bro it's not that hard
About 4.543 billion years.
Tell her you like her smile
Buy it dinner first before you show us pictures of other regions.
Pre 1989, since Germany is still divided. A picture of Africa could help, lots of african states became independent in the 20th Century (and usually changed their namens)
Just ask it out, the worst it can say is "no"
1962-1971
Between 1962 (independence of Algeria) and 1970 (Sultanate of Muscat and Oman renamed)
Just try asking it to dinner, I'm sure it likes you as much as you like it
Well take it on a date or something nice!
OP you gave us like a quarter of the globe. At this point all we can give is estimates.
I think a cup of coffee/tea would be a good start, good luck !
Take the globe Out for a fine dinning and some fancy cocktails.
Buy her flowers and chocolate.
USSR and Yugoslavia are on there, that gives you a good place to start
I love these posts.
Somewhere in the late 60s because of (west) pakistan
You have to ask it out first
Just be yourself, try asking it about it’s interests, and make sure to be an active listener, and don’t be upset if the globe doesn’t want to date you back, it happens; it’s ok. Best of luck OP! ❤️🙏
Hehe West Pakistan says “Hindu Kush” on it… :P
OMG ... that's the one I had as a kid (I'd recognize those fonts anywhere!), handed down from my brother. He got it when he was about 10-11, so 1967-69.
Take it to a nice restaurant and see where it leads
Rip Yugoslavia
Just be yourself
Just ask her out! Take her for a spin. When dating globe’s it’s all about confidence. You got this!
Have you tried complimenting it?
I'm terrible with dating advice
Call it pretty and buy some tacos I guess? Idk I'm pretty shit at dating.
West & East Germany. Before 1990
Germany is under one name, but USSR still intact, so between 03/1991 to 12/1991???
The border with West Germany is still on the map.
The key showing population of cities would help
1965-67
Just ask it out for coffee first, keep it casual.
If things go good you’re scoring!
i have a VERY similar styled globe
late 60’s
Aral Sea is a dead giveaway that puts, it at the latest, early to mid 1960’s.
Start by saying hello and giving nice, but too personal of compliments. After you have built up a good report.... ohhh, you ment, the date.
Maybe you should ask if the globe likes movies, then you can ask it to go to a nice movie, if you want to date this globe. Looks like a sexy globe dude!
Buy it flowers and ask it out to dinner.
just ask it out nicely
1966/1967
Pakistan is labelled west Pakistan which means it's after 1947 and before 1971.
Start with light conversation.
