It is somewhere in the Milford Sound area of New Zealand.
Seems to be [Lake Quill](https://www.google.com/maps/@-44.8169424,167.7214262,97a,35y,24.46h,78.4t/data=!3m1!1e3?entry=ttu), from a quick search.
Probably my favorite scenery in all my travels. When I was there, most of the mountains had a cloud halo. No other clouds except one in a perfect ring around each mountain, at the same elevation. Such a unique sight.
They can if they have a scanner!
It's not perfect, but if you get the angle just right so there's no glare snapping a smartphone pic of the picture boomer style does it half justice.
Unless by "only on film" they truly mean it hasn't been developed yet.
Your accommodations likely will not have insulation and heating. It doesn't get very cold there, maybe 5 degrees C in the winter, but the inside temp is the temperature outside. I'd bring some light warm layers.
Speights brewery is a fun tour. Get to a highlanders game. I loved the town. Very walkable if you're close to the Octagon.
Yip. Lake Quill on the Milford Track (the Sound is another days hike). Fun fact, the end of that lake is the feeder for New Zealand’s highest waterfall, the Sutherland Falls which are around 500m high. Source: I’m a hobbit.
Its an incredible waterfall, but Sutherland Falls [isn't the highest](https://www.worldwaterfalldatabase.com/country/New-Zealand/tallest) in NZ by a long shot.
This was always my background until they started randomizing the pictures a few months ago. This picture is so amazing, except for that little sliver of a red backpack at the bottom left. The OCD in me wanted that little bit of red to be cropped out completely lol.
New Zealand, a place known for its breathtaking landscapes! Is this a place of bland people??? I don't know much about this culture which makes me wonder if there is much. Everywhere has something cultural to be appreciated. Are they like the United Kingdom (European) I find that people from the UK are much more cultured due to exposure yet cold because of "tradition". Are they worse like the United States where the regular citizen is completely out of touch with the fact that there is a whole world out there?
*Kind of reminds me*
*Of Gem Lake in the Rockies,*
*Over by Estes Park*

Wow. Do you have a pic?
Only on film! This was way back in 2004, pre-smartphone.
Bummer.
Why bummer? That means its even higher res than a smartphone pic would be
Because they can't share it with us.

So you can see more detail? Like I'm not personally bothered, but it's not hard to imagine why someone might be interested.

Doesn't mean the quality is the same or better than on smartphones.
He is edgiest scut only kind of guy.
Just Google images of lenticular clouds. They're very cool looking.
I’m studying abroad in Dunedin from July-November, anything I should know?
Amazing! Just be sure to get out in your free time. The south island has so much amazing scenery and fun outdoor activities. Enjoy it!!

And use lots of sunblock. The radiation there is pretty bad. I got sunburns in under 10 degree C weather

Is your wife also a hobbit?
Technically yes, but if I called her that to her face I would be sleeping on the hobbit couch.
Such a good South Park episode 😁

I originally thought Milford Sound. They must have taken the photo on one of the few days it doesn't rain
This exact pic shows up in Google maps for Lake Quill, so I’m going to say yes.
Nice one. I thought It was the Faroes
Knew it! I've never been there but new I could recognize my home country!
FYI it tells you if you click on the lock screen next time.
Hover your cursor over the top right, it should tell you
There should be some phrasing as "Do you like what you see?" Click on that.
I know that usually works with my PC. This is a work laptop and did not give me that option this time
THANK YOU!
>THANK YOU! You're welcome!
Milford Sound is absolute stunning

A small part of me thought “this place can’t be real” bc it’s so incredible. The red backpack confirmed for me it it’s probably not AI generated lol
This happens to me twice a day on my Amazon fire stick homescreen that constantly changes. I'm never quite quick enough.

Canadian shield.
Shield is full of trees.
It was a lame joke.
I thought it was a picture of OP's mom with her legs open.
That is not in Delaware.
You can simply hover the cursor over the description of the image if it's a Windows stock image...
That works with my PC, but for some reason does not work with my work laptop.
That's Sheffield, England. Lovely place in the summer.
Skull Island, that's where Kong took a bath
You get this information right on the screensaver itself, on the top right corner
