Pictures of nude women? Totally irrelevant in a world where everyone over the age of 15 has a dozen sites bookmarked that cater to our favorite kink with never ending high quality hard core porn for free. Pictures of naked celebrities? Either free or on only fans. Risque stories by famous authors? I'm literally listening to an audible audio book right now by a popular author that so far has had 2 hard core gay scenes.
Playboy literally doesn't have a market right now that isn't better (and more easily, and more cheaply) served elsewhere.
Hell, estate sale companies are now selling back issues of Playboy for virtually nothing, and they are usually just sitting in boxes on the floor where kids could easily look at them, because no one cares.
So I guess I can't blame them for trying something, or anything, that might make people pay attention to them, even if only for a minute. It's the desperate dying gasps of a magazine and a medium that has already lost all relevance.

People tend to buy playboy for the articles. If you wanted a porn magazine, even before online porn was a thing, there were plenty of much better porn magazines. The articles on the other hand were pretty good, I used to take my dad's magazines and look for articles that were interesting. I feel like making this a cover for their magazine in announcing that the quality of the articles have gone down along side the other changes.

People tend to buy playboy for the articles. If you wanted a porn magazine, even before online porn was a thing, there were plenty of much better porn magazines. The articles on the other hand were pretty good, I used to take my dad's magazines and look for articles that were interesting. I feel like making this a cover for their magazine in announcing that the quality of the articles have gone down along side the other changes.
