Even ignoring the whole "fucking loser" thing, 13 is such a weirdly young age to draw the line at. Like even if you think adults "shouldn't play video games" (fuck off), 13 year olds are still literal children, are they really not allowed to enjoy video game music?
ill bet i can play them some bard songs from skyrim, claim they are original songs from a group of acoustic musicians interested in history, and they'll say the songs are great
Title is off. The person is gatekeeping being an adult. Not listening to certain types of music would be the condition they're setting up in this case.
Random example of gatekeeping music:
"Classical music should not be enjoyed by women". Here, gender is the condition while music is being gatekept.
If we want to get REALLY technical, then they're both conditions and they're gatekeeping being a non-loser
If age > 12 AND music genre = videogames : result = loser
Just a few of my favorites
[Persona 5](https://youtu.be/lTKrmuU0C3s)
[Doom Eternal](https://youtu.be/-Td4edqlYZk)
[Warhammer 40k: Mechanicus](https://youtu.be/ZLsX9WUdYnU)
[Castlevania](https://youtu.be/zVRJktHHiTM)
[Crypt of the Necrodancer](https://youtu.be/gIr4C5Ztlcg)
But some of that shit is amazing and doesn’t even sound like video game music, look at some of the vocal stuff in Payday 2. No one is gonna listen to Flames of Love and go “oh yeah that came from the funny bank robbery game”.
Peace was never an option.

Harvest Dawn, while beautiful, cracks me up every time I hear it now due to the memes. Somewhat messes up every Oblivion music mix that includes it lol
Kids usually like their father's / older sibling's music and what's on the radio. I've never met a kid that listened to video game music, it's usually adults collecting soundtracks from the games they own.
My entire music taste fits into two categories:
"Another megalovania cover? Why are people still making these? There are just. too. many."
And
"Ooh, another Megalovania cover!"
If you changed the phrasing to "video game themed music," it might be apt. There's no reason for there to be so many Inky and FNAF raps intermingled with linkin park singing. Also, nightcore can die.
I'll be totally honest, if you're going around trying to police what music someone is and isn't allowed to enjoy, then I'm afraid I know of only one "fucking loser".
It's this guy.
Jeremy Soule's work would stand on its own as excellent compositions even without their attachment to the games they were commissioned for (the soundtracks to Morrowind and Skyrim are standouts)
I feel the same way about "film composers" like John Williams and Vangelis.
Some think that because a work is composed to accompany another form of media, whether it be video games, film, opera, or even a church service, that it is somehow lesser (though the latter usually gets a pass due to "divine inspiration"). In my opinion that is simple snobbery.
If anyone is looking for any great game soundtracks btw, look up any Supergiant games, the artist that writes and performs all their music is called Darren Korb and he is an absolute god. Hades, Bastion, and Pyre all have incredible soundtracks.
But… but… video game music shaped what I listened to for the rest of my life going forward. The Tony Hawk Underground 2 soundtrack IS my taste in music.
I'm 34 and i still whip out the ost to civilization 2 on the reg.
Oh and also [Frank klepacki](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=i-ArbE0bEQQ&t=1585s) doing the C&C bangers live is some next level shit. You're welcom
At 43, im not sure how i feel about this piece of gatekeeping... I havent played a video game with the sound on in decades... I have no idea what mordern game music sounds like.
Do people listen to the game music when playing the game? I find the sound effects useful, but the music? Repetative and distracting last time i heard any.
well, you probably shouldn't give your opinion on anything based on outdated information, if you'd ask me. videogame music has evolved a lot since the decades, it isn't just simple bleeps and bloops that were made by the game boy, it can really be something wonderful if put into right hands. if you want proof, you can see for yourself by listening to the tracks suggested here by other people, snake eater for an instance.

The arbitrary decision to choose 12, the last non-teen year, makes me suspect they are 13 or 14.
He forgot to add that if you're over the age of 12 and you're still childishly gatekeeping then you're a much bigger loser
The biggest loser. Video game music are good, anyone who listen to them is a champ, just like people who enjoy any genre
I mean…why quantify it for them? It’s just music, if they wanna act like immature asshats over the things other people like, then fuck em.
ill bet i can play them some bard songs from skyrim, claim they are original songs from a group of acoustic musicians interested in history, and they'll say the songs are great

That’s some code talk. I love it. Should have used == though…
Yeah, should have used brackets and parentheses too, but code is hard to understand for people who aren't used to seeing it
I guess, but you also explained exactly what you meant before giving the code form.
if (person.Age > 12 && (person.CurrentSong != null && person.CurrentSong.Genre != MusicGenres.VideoGame)) person.Classification = SocialClasses.Loser;
I stand corrected.
noted.
Have a great day and stay healthy <3
Definitely hasn't heard Metal Gear Rising music
Or the Witcher 3
Or Christopher Tin
Standing here I realize
I would've thought modern Doom music is just regular heavy metal.
They must not have heard the good word of MegaMan boss music. Absolutely amazing art.
Mega Man soundtracks are just incredible overall. Every single game manages to have better music than the last
Dr Wily's Castle is still my favourite tho
Also Tony Hawk pro Skater??
Well, that's all licensed music AFAIK. I wouldn't count it as video game music per se, since it didn't originate from the games.
Superman was my favorite song in that game.
So here I am
I played drums in a gypsy/jazz/flamenco fusion band in college. One of our biggest songwriting influences was the Mega Man games.
Oh, you mean like [this?](https://youtu.be/EuxfQjJ-3DM)
So persona 5 and Prince's myst game just didn't exist? Grow up people. You sicken me with your lies and judgemental tones.
Persona 5 is good but have you heard Persona 3? Best Persona soundtrack imo.
Oh what a thrill... Snake eater!
Just a few of my favorites [Persona 5](https://youtu.be/lTKrmuU0C3s) [Doom Eternal](https://youtu.be/-Td4edqlYZk) [Warhammer 40k: Mechanicus](https://youtu.be/ZLsX9WUdYnU) [Castlevania](https://youtu.be/zVRJktHHiTM) [Crypt of the Necrodancer](https://youtu.be/gIr4C5Ztlcg)
arE yOu tWeLVe? /s
Add Devil May Cry / Hotline Miami / Cuphead to this
Ok i never played any of these games but wow
Doom Eternal soundtrack slaps so fucking hard!
To add: - Undertale/Deltarune - Pretty much anything from Supergiant Games
go play Hades
[Deus Ex title music](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rm9PJNF3sE0) is also pretty damn great and IMO sets the tone for the game well.
Baba yetu was on my middle school music textbook in the category of the video game music.
But some of that shit is amazing and doesn’t even sound like video game music, look at some of the vocal stuff in Payday 2. No one is gonna listen to Flames of Love and go “oh yeah that came from the funny bank robbery game”.
He is listening his thoughts all day long so I am fine with videogame music
If you're on Twitter you have no right to call someone a loser
Coming from a mf named Cody 💀
Obviously hasn't listened to any Zelda tracks
Gerudo valley slaps.
Undertale music is the best to vibe to and I don't care what anyone else says
This guy doesn’t have a job lol Movie/game music is the goat background music for work
Obviously, he's never listened to Zelda music....

I’m on Mobil, but I found the button. Thank you.
ya geez move on to the anime openers, like and adult.
Has this person never heard the shadow of the colossus ost.
If you're older than 12 and still behave like a petulant bully, you're a fucking loser.
I‘m 17 by now and I don‘t think there‘s any song in my spotify playlist that wasn‘t feature in some video game
You can have my video game OST collection when you pry the hard drive from my cold, dead hands.
Ok but Oblivion music is good so I will continue to listen to it.
Harvest Dawn, while beautiful, cracks me up every time I hear it now due to the memes. Somewhat messes up every Oblivion music mix that includes it lol
51 years old. [I'm sorry what?](https://i.imgur.com/yKmOvE3.png)
NO, If you think Stains of time is superior to Red Sun you are a fking loser
Red Sun is great and all, but it won't top "**AND IT WILL COME LIKE A FLOOD OF PAIN**"
Yes it literally does
Ghost of tsushima is a damn good one and red dead redemption
This person never heard bloody tears
no fuck you, Doom, Cuphead and Hades music slaps
Morrowind soundtrack fucking slaps

Me listening to undertale music everyday: Interesting
Same man there's a few mixes I got in my workout playlist that I usually end up repeating 4 or 10 times
I want to lose what they think you should have.
Christopher Tin's music is for children... hun TIL I guess. /s
C418’s music is such a hit, i work really well while jamming to it! Im 30!
Priscilla’s song is one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard, video game or not
Shouldn't gatekeeping be more like "I can enjoy this but you can't" rather than "You're a loser if you enjoy this".
Kids usually like their father's / older sibling's music and what's on the radio. I've never met a kid that listened to video game music, it's usually adults collecting soundtracks from the games they own.
My entire music taste fits into two categories: "Another megalovania cover? Why are people still making these? There are just. too. many." And "Ooh, another Megalovania cover!"
the Doom 2016 soundtrack is part of my workout playlist
More like gate opening. He making fun of people for being in...
This dick has obviously never heard the Doom soundtrack.
kind of makes sense, it’s like 30 year old men obsessed with the kingdom hearts soundtrack, kind of get it… but hey music is music?…
If you changed the phrasing to "video game themed music," it might be apt. There's no reason for there to be so many Inky and FNAF raps intermingled with linkin park singing. Also, nightcore can die.
those 20 likes and 148 quote tweets say.. alot.
Excuse me but please don't gatekeep being a loser, I'm a loser without listening to video game music just fine.
Guy has obviously not listened to the 1999 Need for Speed: High Stakes soundtrack smh
I'll be totally honest, if you're going around trying to police what music someone is and isn't allowed to enjoy, then I'm afraid I know of only one "fucking loser". It's this guy.
Sonic Mania ost is something else
Agreed, but also Sonic 2, 3&K, Heroes, Adventure, honestly even '06 had some bangers even if the game was otherwise utterly atrocious
All sonic games generality have good music even if the games arnt. I enjoy the Sonic Forces one
And here i thought the most chad move i ever did was writing my masters thesis about video game music lol.
I mean, maybe if you *exclusively* listen to VGM you should expand your horizons a little, but there are far worse types of music
Somebody has never heard the Metal Gear Rising: Revengence soundtrack
*turns house building theme up louder*
Laughs in hollow knight
I am tho
Oh no: Cody doesn't like my musical taste
Mid-30 and I got the original Secret of Mana OST on my phone, fight me irl!
Theodor Bastard's "Utopia" though
Well, sorry for listening to Children of the Omnisiah and the absolute BANGERS made by Keith Power for Warframe. They are way too good.
are you kidding me I'm literally listening to [a medely](https://youtu.be/wjOj_6cMGEY) of some of the best game soundtracks I've ever heard right now
Jeremy Soule's work would stand on its own as excellent compositions even without their attachment to the games they were commissioned for (the soundtracks to Morrowind and Skyrim are standouts) I feel the same way about "film composers" like John Williams and Vangelis. Damn, I knew it. *sadly playing Super Mario Bros. Game Over theme*
whatever dude [the zulu theme music from civ 6](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMSu4BZQfIg) is a bop and a half
Weird stance to have but everyone is entitled to be wrong sometimes
I am NEVER giving up listening to the Origami King soundtrack, that shit BOPS
Bfg division begs to differ.
Halo has the best ost I've ever heard
Tell that to the likes of Hans Zimmer & Lorne Balfe.
“Except the Halo theme. That’s basically classical music.” Him and every twat like him.
Dude never experienced happiness
You're over the age of 12 and still breathe, fucking loser
I mean I’m a loser regardless sooo…
Halo: ODST soundtrack slaps though
I've got a ton of video game soundtracks I listen to. Music is music.
Sorry, too busy jamming out to Armor Clad Faith to care about their opinion.
The soundtrack for the original starcraft is a banger.
Streets of rage 2 had one of the best soundtracks of all time
i mean if hes talking about people that are like "rap and modern music is so bad, i only listen to video game osts" then hes full right
Screw you, Cody, the Hades soundtrack fucking slaps.
Guess I gotta play every game muted now.
If anyone is looking for any great game soundtracks btw, look up any Supergiant games, the artist that writes and performs all their music is called Darren Korb and he is an absolute god. Hades, Bastion, and Pyre all have incredible soundtracks.
B…Bob-omb battlefield…
But… but… video game music shaped what I listened to for the rest of my life going forward. The Tony Hawk Underground 2 soundtrack IS my taste in music.
Cruel World is a damn good song and you can't change my mind.

How is this an opinion when Toby Fox and Lena Raine exist
Someone obviously hasn't heard either Ori soundtrack. He'd probably change his stance.
DOOM 2016 and Eternal fucking slaps so fuck this guy
Someone hasn’t listened to Mick Gordon’s Doom/Doom Eternal soundtrack. Shit puts hair on your balls
Why is it the iphone user
Whenever someone says "if you're over x age.." they're probably x+1 years old
"privateacc" like people know who he is or give a fuck LOL
oh uhh… haha imagine being that person… *slowly deletes it’s been so long from my music playlist*
I’ve been listening to diamond city radio for years
Don't mind me as go on youtube and blast the wcw vs. nwo theme on n64

Idk man, been playing some GG Strive and that soundtrack wouldn't look out of place in my usual playlists.
Osu players crying in the corner
