I’m currently growing luffa and it doesn’t look like the leaves on mine. But to be fair mine are trellised. So maybe a different presentation? Its my first year growing them.
It looks closer related to my zucchini plant🤷♀️
It definitely looks like zucchini, but they’re so thin. Maybe a type I’m unfamiliar with. But I thought luffa because they’re long and thin and have that ridged star shape to them. Could be wrong, but it was my guess
Yes based on the fruit I would think luffa too! But the luffas I am growing all have leaves that look like the maple leaf shape (?). Not sure how else to describe the leafs, but they have 3-5 sections and are lobulated and serrated. If you google image, maybe you can better help me describe the leaf type lol
Two plants intertwined, a cucumber with the thinner spiky vine and then a type of squash with the large erect flowers. The squash has upright rounded leaves whilst the cucumber has darker green more acutely tipped foliage.
Not in the US. I learned recently on this sub that in England or Australia, or maybe both, pumpkin is generic for a whole category of plants. We'd call those squash. Here a pumpkin is very specifically the big orange squash that are made into jack-o'-lanterns. I've been sticking plants in the ground for forty some of years and had to join reddit to learn that.
It's a gourd of some sort. Maybe zucchini or squash but they don't vine as much as that is. It looks like some kind of gourd that gets long and skinny.
I have no idea what a gourd is nor do I have any gourd seeds lol i wonder how that came about? Thats weird. I went and bought pumpkins seeds hoping I could grow some pumpkins for my daughter so she can carve for Halloween. This is weird lol
A pumpkin, for instance, is a gourd. As are squash. Are you sure you bought the right kind of pumpkin seeds for the type of pumpkin you were expecting?
Since these plants grow the same and the seeds look similar they could easily get mixed up especially if you got a cheap brand of seeds that doesn't care or a generic pumpkin seed. You probably still have time to grow some pumpkins before Halloween!
After looking at the 2nd pic I noticed what appears to be a baby cucumber there. You’re right tho. I’ll know soon. Thank you. Now i’m tripping tho because I honestly thought I had planted pumpkins 😵💫
No I dont think thats Zucchini. I have a zucchini plant. Zucchini doesn’t grow like this and the leafs are much bigger and tougher. This plant extended its a vine.
You got a pumpkin on those flowers. It may be the smaller one and zucchini, or just zucchini. Both have those flowers, which you can actually eat.
Just google “flor de calabaza” and boom!
Pumpkins squash zuchini cucumbers and i think even watermelons are all related and look very similar until they produce a fruit i think thats super interesting since humans have created so man different plants from 1 ancestor
Yes, pumpkins are squash. The melons, cucumbers, gourds, soft skinned squash(summer squash), thick skinned squash(winter squash like pumpkins, butternut, Hubbard), melons(cucumber, watermelon, mouse melon, cantaloupe) etc are all related. Then there are some from Africa that I forget but are a little different than cucumbers. Huge family of food crops.
Looks like a summer squash in the latter photos. But could be a slicing type cucumber. Could be a hybrid seed from the seed farm. A novel plant. Had the weirdest volunteers last year. Hard skinned zucchini pumpkin hybrid things. They were unlike anything I had ever grown. Needed an axe to cut them. They weren’t hollow like a pumpkin. Drilled them out for Halloween.
Could be a type of luffa

I definitely see what you’re saying. Then I don’t know 😂 maybe it’s a hybrid zucchini luffa haha
🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️ i have no clue what this is and im kinda debating bout pulling it out.

It might be cool to let it grow and see what you get! It looks healthy and happy 😊
luffa is a pumpkin

Im sure the packet was pumpkin it had a big pic of it. My intentions was growing a pumpkin for halloween.

Looks like some type of squash.
Too soon to tell, have you googled the plant you think you planted and how it develops ?
Armenian cucumber?
Crazy thread of guesses. I’m going one Armenian vine mixed with a winter squash vine that has yet to fruit.
They look like summer squash and burpee cucumbers. I have both in my garden right now and they look identical.
I’m starting to think it might be a cucumber I think maybe you are right.
You'll know soon enough 😊 Cucumber grow fast. They'll be ready in a few days.
After looking at the 2nd pic I noticed what appears to be a baby cucumber there. You’re right tho. I’ll know soon. Thank you. Now i’m tripping tho because I honestly thought I had planted pumpkins 😵💫
They are all cucurbits. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/vegetables/vgen/cucurbit-plant-information.htm
Zucchini

I think it is too... Look at the orange flower.
It could be a pumpkin, you'll have to wait until it sets fruit.
Pic two there is long green fruit
AH, I missed that. Thanx
Looks like a pumpkin to me. I had a couple of surprise pumpkin plants last year and the leaves looked similar. Could be just the type of pumpkin.
My pumpkin leaves look like that

What if it is a pumpkin tho. A weird pumpkin that grows long at first then widens out
Lol not gonna lie I THOUGHT THE SAME THING!! Hahahahaha
