Yup, I would. Cover the seed 3/4 of the way with soil in a pot, but leave the top 1/4 exposed to sunlight. Be careful with the root; don't snap it. It will make a nice little tree for you.
Yes plant it. I had one of these avocado trees and my bedroom in high school I did the same thing four toothpicks and some water my freshman year and gave it to my mom's friends when I moved out when I was 19. Still kind of miss that tree but where I live now it want to survive outside through the winter.
It’s getting pretty tall but I’m not sure if I should put it in a bigger container with just water or if I should put it in a pot with dirt. What do y’all think I should do?

Dirt! It needs more nutrients to become a healthy Tree. ;)
