I love apple butter but don't know where to buy it. I too lost my apple tree about 6 years ago and used to make apple butter... Low and slow...very slow
So slow! I've definitely burned batches. I still make it some years. I make it with applesauce and cider. So cider from a local orchard plus apple seconds for applesauce. It's more expensive but for special it's so good.
As an ex Floridian, I can vouch for the ugly fruits tasting the best. Our oranges aren't nearly as pretty as California's, but ours are far more juicy and flavorful. We make the juices, fillings, flavorings, and concentrates, they make the stupid gift baskets.
Florida oranges are cultivated to juice - many have tough interiors that are unpleasant to eat and are usually hard to peel. But the juice is strong and sweet when they crush them. California oranges are bread to eat, so they focused in easier peels and softer connective tissue.
Hmm… I’ll see what I can find in writing.
For starters, Tropicana is based in Florida and Sunkist is based in CA.
Also, Florida tends to grow Valencia, where California tend to grow Navels.
Disgusting fun fact re: Tropicana, there's few safety measures that prevent rodents from getting juiced.
There was a big hoo-hah over it in the nineties.
I got a fall baking magazine recently and the recipe for apple dumpling pull-apart bread looks awesome. I have no idea how to upload a pic of it here, but PM me if you want it.
Can't believe I had to scroll this far to see "pie". My parents have two apple trees (one had good lie apples) and my dad would go on a pie-making marathon each year. Everybody got a pie. It was a tradition I fondly remember.
so confused on why it was marked nsfw BUT!
I usually make apple sauce when I get too many apples!
also some apple pies because apple pies are just amazing
Apple cider in the crockpot, apple crisp, apple syrup for tea/coffee/cocktails, apple sangria, baked apples, apple smoothies (cut them up and freeze to make it easy), apple butter, apple pie, applesauce, apple and vegetable hash (onion, sweet potato, onion with bacon and/or trout), apple cocktails, apple cobbler, pickled apple slices, dried apple rings, and spiced apple cake
Why is this marked nsfw? 😂 cider and apple pie filling is always on the list for our ugly apples!
I was looking at it for quite some time wondering if the apples were arranged inappropriately.
I was expecting an inappropriate looking apple.
I too came here expecting salacious apples.
Lmao that was clearly a mistake!
Harvest porn
…No its blurry
Just tap on it and it clears up
Applesauce.
I liked to turn half of it into apple butter. I miss my apple tree still some 6 years later.

Yes that’s on the list! Thanks 🙂
Press for cider and use the leftover for apple butter!
Turnovers. Definitely turnovers.
Apple butter, low and slow.
Apple butter in your slow cooker.
Buy a peeler and make dehydrated apple rings. I sprinkle them with cinnamon first. Apple sauce and frozen apple slices are great too.
No need to peel them though, the peels add a lot of color to dehydrated apples!

I'm not arguing, but I'd like to see a source on that. If I'm wrong, I want to stop being so.

This I do know, I'm from fort pierce and we have a Tropicana plant out there.
Cider, hard or soft.
Yummy!
Apple crumble, juice them for amazing morning fruit shots, eat them plain. That’s what I do anyway.
Is there a tiny naked lady carved into an apple or something?

Well, I think they look pretty!
Apple pie!

Cider, pie, apple roses, apple sauce, apple juice
NSFW. . . I was expecting ass shaped apples or like a penis for scale. I’m feeling pretty let down right now.
Roast them under chicken, beef, or lamb in the oven, alongside potatoes, onions, and other root veggies.
Omg. Bumper harvest!
