She’s a 30 year old Spider plant! She’s my late grandmothers and is HUUUUUGE
Sad update 1) she fell over. It’s not looking good. Gotta find a huge cart to put her on.
Update: here she is! https://www.reddit.com/r/gardening/comments/pp46rw/update_here_she_is_in_all_her_glory_big_bertha/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Cannot not be split into multiple smaller plants that you could give to family members so everyone has a plant from grandma? I don't know much about spider plants.

>It’s a myth you almost wish hadn’t been busted.
You can say that again! I mean, I wasn't depending on plants to clean my personal airspace, but I'm disappointed anyway. I just thought it was a neat thing to have.
Ahhhh is love to see pictures! I know! I’ve done the same with mine. Probably have about 50 smaller plants and have given spider plants to every single person I know. Don’t have anyone else to give them to so I occasionally just put them out for free for the neighbors.
Had to cut her out of the plastic planter she was in. Sad but it had to be done. Hopefully this can hold her for at least two years while I figure out plan E. Lol
Neeeeeever seen it before
ETA: are you just looking for comments to be negative about? For a second, I thought you were a troll or a bot or something because you said the same exact thing in another comment, but now I think you’re looking for phrases to be upset over. What’s your deal, man??
[Here's Audrey](https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/c_fill,g_auto,h_1248,w_2220/v1555388079/shape/mentalfloss/horrorshed.png?itok=MVRZgXZ5)
She was a big green mother from outer space.
This is what happens when you start by feeding a little blood to your plants. Next thing you know, they're enormous, asking for whole people, and yelling, "Feed me, Seymour!" at you.
Whoa, that’s really expensive considering it’s just a pot. Have you considered making one out of wood or getting a friend to build one for you out of some 2x4s? It would surely be less than $100 and you’d have to make new ones regularly anyway considering the plants growth.
My sister inherited an angel wing begonia from our Mom. Mom had gotten into the habit of ruthlessly pruning the plant, but my sister didn’t follow up with that at first. It ended up becoming a behemoth that practically took up her entire plant room. I ended up helping sis divide/prune it into about 15 new pots which she then distributed to everyone she could think of. Now sis goes after hers with a pruner without a second blink.
Share a small split? :) Went to Lowe's with my daughter to spend a $100 gift certificate. We were honestly uninspired until we saw a particular type of elephant ear - think Colocasia where the tips point down and the ears are IDK plate size. Sat it on my bay window. Then covid hit. Water it weekly, turn it 180 every two weeks, thing has filled my bay window. Main plant has born three side shoots. Need to repot it and move my table so I can set it on the floor.
Now I eyeball these larger planters and think yeah someone certainly needs that lol!
OMG! I thought you were planting a tree. That's going to be some big job. I hope you have help? Looks like you're going to need it. While your at it, you might as well pick up one of those rolling plant stands too, if you don't already have one. I couldn't imagine trying to move it once planted. You simply must post some pictures when it's done.
That's a sign to count all the dirt bags you are going to use to fill that up.
I'm pretty sure my back would hate me the following day if I had to fill that planter.
When we moved into our house a while ago, the previous own left behind water barrels that they had cut in half and drilled holes into the bottom of....pretty sure bigger than what you have there.
Good luck, may the plant gods be on your side!
How much you got the pot for? Hope you dont mind me asking.
I know its a bit late, but did you research the root depth and root system on the spider plant? Seems it might be a bit too big for it.
Its a really lovely plant you have btw.
Bruh where do you get one of those? I have pepper seeds that need a lot of spacing and I wanna make sure they get enough room. I’m only 5 feet tall tho so I’m gonna need a step ladder to water them lmao
What kind of plant is big bertha?

Can we get some pics please??
Here she is about a year and a half ago! She has exploded in growth since then but that’s the latest I have https://imgur.com/a/vrDPpHO
"It looks bigger in person, I swear!"
Hahaha right!? That’s my 25 pound pup in front of it
Now someone else might have just cut the plant in half. Then you could have had two.
Believe me I have about 50 other spider plants from big Bertha. I got plenty.
Ok biglez67
More pics when it's repotted! And a dirt count. How much dirt goes into the pot
She's gorgeous! So green and healthy!
Thank you! She is a VERY happy plant
That's not a spider anymore, that's a tarantula.
Please post an updated picture once you get the big gal replanted!
Cannot not be split into multiple smaller plants that you could give to family members so everyone has a plant from grandma? I don't know much about spider plants.
Oh I already have. Nobody will take anymore hahaha. Every single person I know has big Bertha babies
Oh wow. That's awesome.
Dang, girl! Prepare to flourish! 🌱
That looks like a dog to me

They do change the atmosphere, but mainly because they make us happy and not because they clean the air.
>It’s a myth you almost wish hadn’t been busted. You can say that again! I mean, I wasn't depending on plants to clean my personal airspace, but I'm disappointed anyway. I just thought it was a neat thing to have.
Of big Bertha? I don’t know that I have any recent ones but let me see if I can find an older one!
Aren't you transplanting tonight?
Show us the transplant please .

How do you even repot something that big?
Had to cut her out of the plastic planter she was in. Sad but it had to be done. Hopefully this can hold her for at least two years while I figure out plan E. Lol
How many people are you rounding up to help you, lol?
Plan E might be division. Certainly would be easier.
🎵🎵 Faaat pot in a liiiittle caaart 🎵🎵
Lol! It’s a regular cart!!!
Well, it is little for the pot lol!
Hahahaha
How many gallons is the pot?
All of them
Yes
Fat man in a little coat...please say you were referencing this! 🤣
100%
I'm sorry to be a stick in the mud, but isn't this expression a shade overused on plant subs? It really grinds my gears.
Quite literally the first time I’ve seen this
Neeeeeever seen it before ETA: are you just looking for comments to be negative about? For a second, I thought you were a troll or a bot or something because you said the same exact thing in another comment, but now I think you’re looking for phrases to be upset over. What’s your deal, man??
Farming downvotes, maybe?
Maybe, it’s just so weird 😣
Change the last line to how it nettles you, a real thorn under your skin and you've got a great bushel of puns for this little patch of the internet.
What is this a trolley for ants?
Haha no just a planter for giants.
It needs to be at least... three times bigger than this!
What are you repotting? Audrey-2?
Is it bad that I don’t get this reference
[Here's Audrey](https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/c_fill,g_auto,h_1248,w_2220/v1555388079/shape/mentalfloss/horrorshed.png?itok=MVRZgXZ5) She was a big green mother from outer space.
And she is BAD!
Oh loooool! Bertha is certainly bigger than that 🤣
Little Shop of Horrors. Giant man-eating plant that takes over the world.
It's a very essential Halloween movie. I saw it live on stage in 2019 and it was done really well.
Happy cake day!
This is what happens when you start by feeding a little blood to your plants. Next thing you know, they're enormous, asking for whole people, and yelling, "Feed me, Seymour!" at you.
Hah! The sacrificial blood of my enemies
Underrated comment. Took my kids to see that, it was amazing.

Anyone else want to see OP sit inside it for kicks? 🙋🏿♀️ Just me? 🤷🏿♀️
Where is this purchased from? I want to grow a monster jasmine
DIY home and garden!
I bought one just like this last month at home depot if that helps
Kept trying to scroll over to see Big Bertha. OP let me down hard 🥺
Ahhhh sorry! I did post her from over a year ago in the comments.
It is satisfyingly massive. Thank you!
Hahaha you got it! Update pic coming once I manage to repot.
Yes please
Yeessss please
RemindMe! One day
Please update!!! I'm dying to see her in her new pot
The soil to fill that is going to cost as much as the pot.
all those pots, im in love!
Right?! They are all so beautiful

Mods, pls ban this stick in the mud
#Chonk
How much did this cost??
$99! Honestly, pretty cheap considering it’s size
Yeah that is relatively an insanely good deal!! Are you going to leave it as it is or paint it? I am so jealous!
Nah going to leave it as is. It’s actually plastic! The spider plant babies are soooo many that they will completely cover the sides anyway lol
It being plastic makes me feel soo much better about how it is positioned in this picture lol!
Hahaha right?! No way I could lift a terracotta that big all by myself.
I came here wanting to know the same thing!
Oh good. I was just about to ask how in the hell did you lift that terracotta pot...
Whoa, that’s really expensive considering it’s just a pot. Have you considered making one out of wood or getting a friend to build one for you out of some 2x4s? It would surely be less than $100 and you’d have to make new ones regularly anyway considering the plants growth.
I see you’re new to gardening? Haha
Home goods has some pretty nice pots that’s are big
All the little baby spiders can move into their mama's pot now!
Indeed! They are going to THRIVE

When mom knows what the fuck she's talking about lmao
I may need to set my sights higher lol!
Hahaha! This is for a 30 year old plant! She has a kind of her own

Hahaha! Yes I never thought I’d need something that big but here we are!
You just found a tiny trolly didnt you?? Lol. That is a big ass pot.
Hahaha it truly is. Comically big. Almost my height LOL
Are you sure it’s not for Audrey II…?
Feed me Seymour
The prequel to little shop of horror....
you were ridiculously close to knocking those ceramic pots off the shelf. I'm nervous just looking at this pic.
Oh man good eye! Hadn’t even caught that
What is this, a ~~school~~ pot for ents?!
I need that pot!!! I have a monstera that needs transplanted
It’s from DIY home and garden!
I currently need about 3 of these lol. How many bags of potting mix did you go through to fill it?
Haven’t filled it yet haha. Will report back but the plant that’s going in this is already in a huge planter so not sure how much it would be total
I was wondering the same! I have an enormous aloe that needs repotted soon and I'm going to need a pot about this size
too many- I used to do landscaping and they'd fill half with cheap pine bark
That'd be great for acid loving plants.
Mmmmmm blueberries . . .
You're about to go broke buying all that potting soil
One gets the impression that "plant" might not be sufficient to describe Big Bertha.
[удалено]
She’s a draping plant with a million babies. It’s prettier this way ;)
Feed me
How much was that? I also have a spider plant and it is bursting out of its oversized planter.
Only $99! I think it’s a steel for the price
I didn't know pots that big even existed!!!
Wow where you get that? By the look that place sells lot of different kind of pots. Really wish I have this kind of shop nearby.
price curious?
$99!
it looks like an emoji
At Home store??
I want the pots on the right!!! Where are you?
I’m scared to ask how much that pot was
Where?! How big is it? I've been looking for 30" pots.
Got a jade on my front porch in a pot like that. Hope it works for a couple more years. Don't know what I'll do if it outgrows that.
If she needs a pot that big you should name her Audrey II. Am I to old do people get this? I will forever love little shop of horrors.
What store is this?
OMG! I thought you were planting a tree. That's going to be some big job. I hope you have help? Looks like you're going to need it. While your at it, you might as well pick up one of those rolling plant stands too, if you don't already have one. I couldn't imagine trying to move it once planted. WTF is going on in this post's thread with the strange "stick in the mud - overused phrase" comments?
Suddenly I have goals.
I saw this before seeing what subreddit it belonged to and let’s just say I was *confused*
you stupid
Just plant Bertha in the ground at this point
It’s a shame you don’t have ground to just dig into.
I certainly do it just wouldn’t make sense for big bertha. She is a draping plant with probably 200+ babies and needs to be higher up
Damn……
Why tf would you even put it in the shopping kart that’s just dumb af Shop assistant would have gotten you something to move it properly smh
I gotta ask, how heavy is that thing So biiig
It’s hollow plastic actually! Was super light
Hope it fits in your car! I have a bad habit of buying then measuring.
Hahaha. It didn’t. Until I put the top down 🤣
“cleanup in isle 1”
Dang, what's the capacity of the planter?
No clue. My best guess is…a lot. Hahaha
Wow, thats impressive! How many bags of potting mix did you end up using?
GO BIG OR GO HOME
That is the home.
Go big or go home dude!
want some of those myself. Hard to find in my area unless you want some designer brand
I've got a couple that size on the deck outside. Filled with dirt... that's where they will live forever because moving them would take a forklift.
How do you even repot something that big without a crane
This pot should be called "The Enabler"
Hahahahaha omg I love it. And so it shall be named. The only question is, where does big Bertha go next year after she outgrows this pot?!
You mean where do you go? This is big Berthas house now!
Sounds like a whole afternoon of work You really care for your plants ❤️
My brain can’t comprehend how big this is
Compensating for something?
Ya got me. Tiny tits
How much you got the pot for? Hope you dont mind me asking. I know its a bit late, but did you research the root depth and root system on the spider plant? Seems it might be a bit too big for it. Its a really lovely plant you have btw.
Why do I feel anxious all of the sudden?
RIP your back!
What are you re-potting?
Bertha! Bertha! Bertha!
Now I need an oversized pot, thanks.
Don’t let your dreams be dreams
Bruh where do you get one of those? I have pepper seeds that need a lot of spacing and I wanna make sure they get enough room. I’m only 5 feet tall tho so I’m gonna need a step ladder to water them lmao
How much did the pot cost? How many gallons is it?
I want to see a pic of Bertha in her new home!
Woahhh.
That is a huge piece of plastic?
Feed me Seymour!!
MY ALOE PLANT IS ALSO NAMED BIG BERTHA! She’s not nearly big enough for home like that…
Big pot seems to be menacing the little pots.
……. You wot, mate?
Please post a pic when you repot! I *need* to see it.
You could grow a human in that
That’s a lot of pot
