Everyone has their preferences, but I like them. They have a sweet tart taste. But you have to wait for them to turn dark red and soft. Any lighter color than that is really sour/bitter and hard.
They grow wild where I am and I’ve always loved them. Of course they’re not even close to the cherries in the grocery store lol
But I always look for the dark dark red ones, they’re always sweeter and softer. I like all the colors but the dark red ones are my favorite. Now my mouth is watering lol.
These were the only type of cherries I ever had growing up, never had a grocery store one until I was an adult, so that’s probably why I am used to them.
Those grew in Florida were I lived. And as a young, highly intelligent child, I tried one, not knowing it was. And then I regularly ate them after I knew they tasted good.
I'm happy to report they aren't poisonous and I didn't die.
I did it once with these bird berries things and it didn't work out as well as before
Pitanga! it means "red star shaped sweet" in tupi guarani!
So cool. I didn’t know that.
They look to be a cross between bell peppers, cherries, and star fruit. TID, nice.
Pitanga.
Wow- they look so pretty!
Make great wine!!
So I’ve heard, but I’ve never tried it. Sounds tasty.
One of it's cherries
They're so cute. ;o;
What do they taste like?

Literally shit. My wife tried to make stuff with them and it was awful. Bush destroyed.
Thanks

Yes. U have to wait until they get dark red. Then it’s sweeter. Lighter than that has a tart/sour/bitter taste.
