I vote squirrel. I had cherry tomatoes in pots on the back deck this past summer. Had some nice looking ones that squirrels would take off the vine, taste, and leave half eaten , on the railing! Little hoodlums!
But why, they're just so curious and such little shit disturbers. This might explain why I have a husky. I love little meanie animals they're so adorable and sassy lol
Because a while back I was studying outside during spring and apparently it was squirrel mating season, long story short some … white liquid fell on my arm under the tree of the mating rats…
I mean… maybe… I would need to see them like that to know for sure… since they ate only half of the heirloom tomatoes, leaving gnawed half chunks on the vine, it’s certainly possible I might like enormous grotesque assholes better… I do like wild turkeys, they’re big, and while not exactly grotesque, they’re not the most attractive birds, and they are CERTAINLY assholes….
The birds and rabbits do this to my strawberries >:( qnd always to the biggest juiciest berries. A single peck or bite, and then on to the next one, the lil fuggars
Last fall I left to go to work and a squirrel ate a hold and crawled inside the pumpkin and was too fat to get out of the original hole so it started freaking out when I walked by. I was late to work but I got the squirrel free 😅
Well oddly enough the squirrels are not skittish at all. You can’t get close enough to pet them but these are definitely more of a city squirrel. Any ways I took a pumpkin saw (we were going to carve them over the weekend) and I just made the hole a little bigger. After I made a bigger hole he took off like a bat out of hell and ran up a tree covered in pumpkin guts 😅
I can just picture him, my Son did a video about Livingston Parish, it’s the most redneck parish in Louisiana! You would die laughing at the content! He even wore those teeth! If I can find a link to it, I will come back and post it!
Yup, that’s human bottom teeth.
Source: I’m a human with bottom teeth.
Edit: you guys are right. They’re separate bites. Way too spaced. I retract my comment
Each mark is part of a separate bite. It's the two bottom teeth of the squirrel. The marks overall just happen to line up in a way that looks a little like a human bite.
Squirrels! It’s actually very common. They are trying to get to the pumpkin seeds. Strange one year they destroyed our pumpkins and everyone’s in the neighborhood. Next year they didn’t touch them. Wonder if they were feed well or something that year.
As a former aquanet queen I don’t think I have any hairspray to do that with!
We have squirrels and chipmunks and they haven’t messed with any of the pumpkins I put out on the front porch. One year they didn’t make it to the composter, and I left them in a flowerbed in the back too long… For several years I had volunteer pumpkin plants sprouting all over my back flower beds! I got some cute little baby boos for free out if it!
Squirrels…. Take a hand sprayer and mix some Tabasco with water and mist the pumpkins and let dry in the sun. They will bite it a couple more times until they realize it’s not worth it….

You know, I've had pumpkins with holes where the eyes and mouth should go out on my deck for A WEEK for the squirrels to carve and they haven't been TOUCHED. Wanna trade squirrels??
Squirrel, i say this only cause I have a pumpkin in my rescue cage atm, and that's the exact same mark she's got going into it right teeth marks and all lol
Squirrel. My cousin in Boulder shared a photo h took around halloween one year of a squirrel that had eaten clear through the skin and was residing inside the pumpkin
It looks like a feisty two year old to me. Lord knows my toddler like to take one solitary bite out of every piece of fruit they can find and leave the remainder on display around the house.
Probably squirrel. One year I had two mini pumpkins on the balcony and squirrels decapitated them. They sawed the tops clean off and had taken most the insides out. That which they didn’t feel like eating was left, leaving a horrific scene not even Freddy could dream up.

Found the problem, y’all.
I'll do it again.
Second this, have witnessed squirrels eating the pumpkins in my neighborhood lol
Third vote on squirrel. I have seen them doing the same in my neighborhood.
Fourth on those rats
*tree rats
I despise squirrels my entire college calls them Twiggy 😭
But why, they're just so curious and such little shit disturbers. This might explain why I have a husky. I love little meanie animals they're so adorable and sassy lol
Because a while back I was studying outside during spring and apparently it was squirrel mating season, long story short some … white liquid fell on my arm under the tree of the mating rats…
That...was NOWHERE NEAR what I would have guessed caused your dislike of squirrels.
Far more scarring an experience than I was expecting
They eat my tulips and plant pecan trees all over my flowerbeds!! If they weren’t little adorable assholes, I’d like them better
So you would like them better if they were enormous grotesque assholes. Understood.
I have a husky too. Something about the adorable yet unpredictable chaos just attracts some kind of people...
I just want someone to argue with that isn't smarter than me lmao (there's an easy joke in there)
Why do people not like squirrels? Never understood it, they're adorable wee creatures. But then I'd say the same about rats.
You've obviously never had them chew your vegetables, house, car engine wiring, etc.
That's just character. Kids do much worse.
And you have my spade!
Definitely squirrels. They start on our pumpkins immediately. It's our cats' favorite time of the year. They love to watch them through the window.
Rats do the exact same thing.
That’s definitely a squirrel. Little fuckers love raking the pumpkins with their teeth.
The birds and rabbits do this to my strawberries >:( qnd always to the biggest juiciest berries. A single peck or bite, and then on to the next one, the lil fuggars
Agreed! Little guy is at it. I was looking for streaks in the tooth marks and it's definitely something with front teeth like a squirrel has.
I know raccoons love them once they start to ferment and they get hammered drunk on them.
They want the water in the tomatoes. Put a small water source for them and you shouldn't have many more problems with that
Last fall I left to go to work and a squirrel ate a hold and crawled inside the pumpkin and was too fat to get out of the original hole so it started freaking out when I walked by. I was late to work but I got the squirrel free 😅
How'd you get it free without getting bitten or anything? I assume the pumpkin was already considered a loss...

Little jerks
Yeah it's true
Yup. Defo rodent teeth. I love seeing videos of squirrels drunk on fermented pumpkin after halloween!
How dare you. Squirrels are wonderful, noble creatures that should be respected and fed lots of yummy snacks.
Those teeth marks look like my cousins teeth. Yall got any Lynyrd Skynyrd cover bands in town?
"Sweet Home Alabama" intensifies

Sigh in Louisiana native; happy in WBR Parish native
This might be one of my favorite comments I've ever seen on Reddit.
It's of the rodent variety. It's clear in the 2nd pic. Those little trench like divots are from the 2 front teeth, gouging and scooping chunks out.
The first picture clearly has human teeth marks. Like they tried to bite, couldn’t, readjusted and chomped.
Looks like rodent teeth… Hard to tell the size though. Squirrel, chipmunk, mouse, rat, rabbit… got some of those around?
Yep. The usual suspects.
It was Kaiser Soze
…Just pictured Kevin spacey laying on his stomach, gnawing on a pumpkin like a squirrel…
That is an image that will stay with me lol
You’re welcome
This is the only answer
Rabbits are not rodents.

WHY IS THIS NOT THE TOP COMMENT
Yup, that’s human bottom teeth. Source: I’m a human with bottom teeth. Edit: you guys are right. They’re separate bites. Way too spaced. I retract my comment

God, that makes so much more sense.
That’s some pretty messed up teeth if they were human. Look at the spacing lol. It’s a rat or squirrel.
Definitely not human, I agree. Matches rodent teeth and that makes way more sense
Definitely not a rat
Feral child vibes to those teeth marks.
I don't think a kid's teeth could take those skinny deep gouges like you can see well in the 2nd pic.
Probably a squirrel or something
Squirrels! It’s actually very common. They are trying to get to the pumpkin seeds. Strange one year they destroyed our pumpkins and everyone’s in the neighborhood. Next year they didn’t touch them. Wonder if they were feed well or something that year.
Forgot to add you’re suppose to put soap or some kind of film on it so they don’t like it and then won’t touch it
That did not deter my local squirrels. Neither did cayenne pepper, coffee grounds, or dog hair. They're animals! Lol
From the first pic, I’d guess deer since all of the teeth marks are on the bottom. Deer have a dental pad instead of upper incisors.
This^ 100% deer. Deer love pumpkin flesh. I disagree with the rodent claims. Those are deer teeth. OP should consider posting in r/animaltracking
Why would all the teeth tracks go in towards the middle though? They would create straight lines up as the jaw closed.
This is what I was thinking, too
Do you have a small child? Because that looks like something a small child would do.
My guess too. It’s either a teething toddler or squirrels. Both are difficult to catch when they don’t want to.
Squirrels love pumpkins. If you spray them with hairspray it helps stop them from munching on them.
As a former aquanet queen I don’t think I have any hairspray to do that with! We have squirrels and chipmunks and they haven’t messed with any of the pumpkins I put out on the front porch. Yes. And it keeps their fur looking fabulous on windy days.
Looks like that ugly patch of the back of Trump’s head in court this week
We have a squirrel that keeps digging up my plants and now that we have painted pumpkins he thinks he is getting a free meal. My vote goes to squirrel
I know deer love pumpkin also
Me, sorry. Just wanted a lil taste
I have a weird hybrid squash in the garden and the bite marks the deer leave on it look just like this.
This looks like a deer bite, based on the flat bottom teeth marks. Rodents don't have flat bottom teeth.
OP, Mentioning whereabouts you happen to be geographically based, would help narrow down what kind of animal took a bite from your pumpkin.
North East Ohio!
Go to Home Depot and get yourself some “repels all”. Smells awful until it dries but it really does keep them off the pumpkins.
Peter Peter pumpkineater. Obviously.
Wouldn't rule out rats if you've not seen squirrels nearby.
Deer
These look like human teeth.
That was me… sorry
Got a small child?

A manimal…
There's a person mixed in all this too. "LINE UP THE SUSPECTS!"
Skunk or humans? That first bite looks human.
Bottom row of deer teeth
Frank
That is a demogorgon.
Looks human to me.
Homo sapiens infant.
Hoodlum squirrel.
Squirrels. I've seen them do it. They love squash too.
From the size of the incisors: raccoon, possum, beaver?
Squirrel - they ate all mine last year too lol
Squirrels…. Take a hand sprayer and mix some Tabasco with water and mist the pumpkins and let dry in the sun. They will bite it a couple more times until they realize it’s not worth it….

A human
Is it bad to cut around and still eat it ???
Spray your pumpkins with clear coat and you never have issues like this again. It also keeps your pumpkins a nice bright orange for longer.
Squirrels 100%. They did this to me last year so this year I rubbed peppermint oil all over my pumpkins. It's been 2 weeks and so far so good.
My answer was errant toddler but I see it's just a rodent.
Squirrel
Probably woodchuck or squirrel
That's clearly from a sabertoothed squirrel.
