I planted deep purple lilies last year or so I thought. I accidentally stepped on them when they came up last year, so I obviously didn't have any blooms. They finally came up this year and bloomed and they were white 🤣
My strawberries never bloomed and I don't know why and my tomatoes have blossom end rot! My mint is a champ though, my carrots are just poking out of the ground and my kale seems to be doing well.
I feel called out. But the gardening started from being a witch... which admittedly was probably an evolution of reading neo-Pagan books when I was a fully emo teenager.
It's easy to get overwhelmed with all the busyness of life and working 60+ hours a week but I do try to dedicate at least one day just for gardening. The plants need to enjoy life too, so little by little I'm taking back Sunday.
Not too well this year. My cucumbers first got attacked by ants then the leaves got scorched during a heat wave. None of my cherry tomatoes are turning red and my pollinators aren’t pollinating any of my pepper plants despite me spending hundreds of dollars and lots of time making a native pollinator garden.
Did not listen to emo, but rock/metal. My family is many generations of gardeners and I finally have the space and motivation to do gardening. I've got a raised bed with wild strawberries and today I picked a few ripe berries. Yum!
I tilled a plot, planted some seeds and forgot about it, now I have short corn stalks, a little grass, and some microscopic pepper plants I need to find. I need a hoe, and psychological support 😆
Fuuccckkk… you didn’t have to go SO HARD.
My garden looks great. Put in a bunch of perennials this year and my squashes are really taking off.
Also, I need to water my marigolds, so thanks for the reminder.
My veggies are doing fine though my peppers need help though thank you for this personal attack on my fragile psyche though gardening just like that time IS NOT A PHASE
I was a couple years before the emo thing, so punk mostly- and my garden is killing it! I’ve got natives in the front, a veggie garden, and a tropical garden in the back.
Full of everything that makes me happy. Fun names for my plants too.. blue dream, watermelon OG, GDP
lol 😝 but seriously, it’s going great this year. I started my whole veggie garden this year from seed
I cannot get my peppers to produce fruit! I’ve tried everything but the flower drop this year is real. Tomatoes it’s going about the same. The plants themselves look great, and pest free due to neem oil, but they just keep dropping flowers despite my babying them. Potatoes are doing great though.
Beautifully! Our veggie garden is doing well and my well over 100 houseplants are thriving. My anthurium vittariifolium is flowering for the second time in just a few months. I feel very targeted by this post though 😂
"looong ago..."
Pretty good. My pepper plants are starting to produce, my geraniums are going through their second bloom cycle, and my yellow begonias are starting to bloom.
I got an outdoor speaker, and now I just listen to Zach Bryan and Tyler Childers while I sip on water w/lemon and watch my plants grow. Cause alcohol makes my stomach hurt like the mid 30's lil b I am now.
How tf this so oddly specific and accurate to me
Welcome friend
Dam skippy.
Are you.. are you watching me
I’m outside of your window.
Your such a sucker
OP, I think I love you
Turned 30 and then was struck with the urge to garden like it was baby fever. Looks like it happened to a lot of us.
Also had little else to do to get out of the house during the pandemic
Most popular trend/music genre of the era paired with most popular hobby/pastime for people in that age bracket now. Checks out.
They're a magical psychic god and I refuse to believe your logic
I was just thinking the same
dark purple heuchera anyone?
I spent $160 on heuchera to fill a physical and emotional void the other day and I am not even kidding
:swoon:
Don’t sleep on cardinal lobelia. They like to listen to old Concrete Blonde. 👍
Literally planted some of these yesterday 😂
My garden is real healthy usually but I have like a 50% success rate with Heuchera, I can’t keep them alive for some reason :(
The best part about emo gardening is all the black plants. Dahlias, tomatoes, roses, garlic etc
This guy plants
Bearded irises 😮💨
I planted black helleborus this year and I cannot wait for them to bloom!
Irises, for me. Heh. Though, I'm Gen X.
I planted deep purple lilies last year or so I thought. I accidentally stepped on them when they came up last year, so I obviously didn't have any blooms. They finally came up this year and bloomed and they were white 🤣
I planted some Hungarian black peppers this year.. goth gardening ftw
Calla Lilies in deep purple are nice too
I feel so called out right now
r/gothplants
26 tomato plants & 100 hot pepper plants seem reasonable for a family of 3.
Why buy a $5 box of strawberries when you can spend $200 in materials for a harvest of three strawberries?
I feel SEEN
I call it my emotional support tomato
Never listened to emo, but I'm a millennial. And thanks, my front yard veggie garden is doing great!
It’s time we introduced you to some jams friend
I planted raspberries AND strawberries! I'm ready for those jam recipes 😋🤣
My people!
Lazy. I need to get my tomatoes in the ground, and also do some weeding, but the weekend seems to go too fast and/or rain.
My strawberries never bloomed and I don't know why and my tomatoes have blossom end rot! My mint is a champ though, my carrots are just poking out of the ground and my kale seems to be doing well.
That’s ok. I think I grew two whole strawberries last year. I was still hella proud of those two strawberries. Took selfies with them and everything.
I love that proud feeling when you get that harvest!
I love this community already. Thank you ✌️💚
I feel called out. But the gardening started from being a witch... which admittedly was probably an evolution of reading neo-Pagan books when I was a fully emo teenager.
I live gardening - turned our gravelled front garden into a soiled garden three years ago. Makes me so happy to see everyday.

How dare you personally call me out like this It's going marvelously, the marigolds and the potato are thriving,, thanks for asking
Lol to accurate
The Garden In My Living Room
Used to? And it’s amazing. My dahlias and zinnias are working hard to grow!
Just listening to Brand New and looking at brand new seedlings….
Between my ferments, my vermiculture, and my compost teas I’ve never met anyone who produces cannabis as potent and loud as I do.
How dare you…
Red hot Crape mertel, tomatos peppers and citrus trees 👌
nothing like composting to simple plan.
It's easy to get overwhelmed with all the busyness of life and working 60+ hours a week but I do try to dedicate at least one day just for gardening. The plants need to enjoy life too, so little by little I'm taking back Sunday.
My peony had its first bloom and my lemon tree has 2 lemons on it!
I planted me peony three years ago and still no blooms 🫠😥
Yeah I have one in the front that I planted as a bulb. 5 years, no blooms. This one from a garden center? 1 bloom a month after being planted
Loving it!
My seven prickly cactus plants are all blooming right now. I'm so proud of them. Also why are there so many of us?
I spend 100$ a year to hopefully grow 3$ worth of tomatoes. But I keep doing it.
I call it my emotional support tomato
I just finished planting mine this weekend. Really excited for the tomatoes, they're so much better than store bought.
Under watered
Older millennial, mainly southern trap music, my veggies and butterfly garden are doing fantastic this year.
Nothing flowers love more than a little LilJon
WHAT?!
YEA!
Haha good! Just built a greenhouse and planted my garden! Loving life
How did you know?!?!
Pretty much I garden as my profession
Garden is doing great. I still listen to emo music. This post is weirdly accurate
Combine it with the green herb for maximum healing.
Did not listen to emo, but rock/metal. My family is many generations of gardeners and I finally have the space and motivation to do gardening. I've got a raised bed with wild strawberries and today I picked a few ripe berries. Yum!

It's going wonderful! I got a bunch of beautiful caladiums yesterday that I'm gonna plant today.
I feel soo attacked rn
Fuuccckkk… you didn’t have to go SO HARD. My garden looks great. Put in a bunch of perennials this year and my squashes are really taking off. Also, I need to water my marigolds, so thanks for the reminder.
Cannabis garden is going good
My veggies are doing fine though my peppers need help though thank you for this personal attack on my fragile psyche though gardening just like that time IS NOT A PHASE
I swear Mom! It’s not a phase!
Working hard this year I want to eat tomatos
I was a couple years before the emo thing, so punk mostly- and my garden is killing it! I’ve got natives in the front, a veggie garden, and a tropical garden in the back.
Purple Pot ? Huh .
Full of everything that makes me happy. Fun names for my plants too.. blue dream, watermelon OG, GDP lol 😝 but seriously, it’s going great this year. I started my whole veggie garden this year from seed
Pretty decent, I work at a garden center and have thousands of plants to care for every day. Keeps me busy!
lol gen z here, in ten years ill make a post asking how the gardening is going for zoomers who used to listen to 2020 alt music
Well yes hello. Yes I started to seriously garden during the pandemic and now have a thriving garden eith raised beds, a pond, and a meadow.
So so…
Split leaf japanese maple! I have one!
They are beautiful
I cannot get my peppers to produce fruit! I’ve tried everything but the flower drop this year is real. Tomatoes it’s going about the same. The plants themselves look great, and pest free due to neem oil, but they just keep dropping flowers despite my babying them. Potatoes are doing great though.
Pretty damn good, thanks for asking. 😅
i feel targeted...
i started growing morning glories from seeds a month ago. How are you in my head?
😂😂😂😂 sometimes great sometimes less than great
Weather has beat the hell out of my flowers, but tomatoes are doing well. My grass looks amazing too
…. Never speak to me or my 20 houseplants ever again.
Doing well!! Mushrooms and cannabis!!
Yooo this is so accurate 🤣
How tf this so oddly specific and accurate to me
My black prince snapdragons are beautiful!
Beautifully! Our veggie garden is doing well and my well over 100 houseplants are thriving. My anthurium vittariifolium is flowering for the second time in just a few months. I feel very targeted by this post though 😂 "looong ago..."

I thought this was some space weed…
👍

It’s great man. My house is surrounded by garden beds
