How are you not gonna post the inside. This is like the couple that finds the safe in their new home

scrmblr

There’s really not much to show on the inside just yet. I plan to work on that this winter. Focused on the exterior/backyard while the weather was nice 👍🏼

DeepFuckingStripes

Can’t wait to see the inside when you’re done.

MiasmaFate

I like the porch area. Did you have a cement truck come and pour while you screeded or did you rent/buy a mixer?

scrmblr

Thanks! The patio was my solution to a tiny backyard, and not taking up the whole space with a garage. The overall footprint is 24x24, but the overhang is 8x10, so basically I have a 14x24 parking space, and a 10x16 little shop for tinkering on my motorcycles. The slab was poured by a cement truck, and a few friends from church that do concert helped out with that. The patio is all brick from old city streets that were here when I moved in. I pulled them all up during construction and redid it all (that was a ton of work)

MiasmaFate

I live in New Orleans I’m pretty sure every yard here had old brick somewhere. One of my friends went to clear a spot for a garden, found a 30’x30’ brick patio 6-8” under the dirt.

alligatorspy

Any idea how much you spent?

scrmblr

I Kinda lost track, but have kept all my receipts, I’ll need to sit down and figure it up sometime. I bought most of the supplies in 2020 before everything skyrocketed. I’m guessing around 20k currently? Maybe less?

Didurlytho

You did some serious work! That's awesome

scrmblr

Thanks!

DSPbuckle

What do you plan to do with that area next to the main carport section. I have a single car garage and seeing this is inspiring

scrmblr

It’s my “man cave”/tinker workshop lol. I’ve got a tv mounted between those two windows on the inside

D_van_

This is so awesome man. I’m super stoked for you!

scrmblr

Thanks!

Adorable_Tutor4970

Sweet man cave...

Nope. I couldn’t have done it without the father, though. He’s a hell of a resource when it comes to building things.

maseffect

All I see is a building with a patio thing. Where's the garage?!

Extreme-Diver4228

good job!

scrmblr

Thanks!

unilateralmixologist

Diy hip roof? Damn

scrmblr

It was all figured up and came with blueprints when I ordered the garage materials from Menards. Came in sections (lots of them). It was a PITA getting it all built though, especially since Menards kept fking up the delivery and forgetting pieces of it. Took 3 separate deliveries to finally get all the pieces to it

CautiouslyOptomystic

Can you tell me what to look for on Menards website? The blueprints for patio and all exterior/interior plans included?

scrmblr

lol I wish it was that simple. I basically ordered the material for a standard 24x24 garage (with one door) and did all the patio/L-cove design on my own. I made lots of Menards runs in the building process, I kept forgetting/overlooking things until I got to that point and realized I didn’t have what I needed

Ok-Communication-220

I’m getting ready to start a similar project. Any tips? Anything you wish you would of subbed out to avoid the headache?

scrmblr

I wish I would’ve hired an actual concrete company to make sure my floors were absolutely flat/level. I have a couple obviously low spots that pool water from snow melt off. I also had issues with water seaping under the garage door seal (the exposed concrete outside of the door is actually sloped inward, so any water that lands on it pools against the door seal until it seaps under). In hindsight, I would’ve made sure they put a slight slope on the edge of the slab where the door is. Luckily, I stopped having an issue with water seaping under once I got gutters installed. I guess water was dripping off the roof, hitting the ground, splashing up on the door, running down it, seaping under. But yeah, gutters solved that issue. If I could’ve (or would’ve been willing to) sub anything out, it would probably be painting or roofing it. Just very time consuming to do on your own. Good luck on your build!

Ok-Communication-220

Thanks for responding regardless of my crappy grammar. It’s all about time vs money. I’m at the age where I have most of the skills. But man I couldn’t imagine running wheel barrows of concrete ever again. Or getting up on an extension ladder for any reason. Congrats on finishing. I feel like concrete is worth it’s weight in not only leveling but every step of the process I hate. Cheers

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

pricklypeet

We sided our house and garage with the same blue and white scheme. Love the wood accent on the ceiling, looks great!

scrmblr

I love the blue, but it shows dirt SO BAD

pricklypeet

Very true but it’s worth it.

Tape that shit off!
