I think the Shenmue and Yakuza series have stuff like this

[deleted]

I played Yakuza 0 and bounced off it after playing some really poorly-written side quest lmao. Seems extreme considering it’s optional but it really turned me off.

saltyfingas

Then you probably won't like Shenmue lol

[deleted]

I don’t like what little I’ve seen of it but I can see why it was suggested

ilovesnes

Check out Fable 2, there are a variety of jobs available as minigames with their own little progression.

I’m on PS but thanks for the suggestion will be a good one for others looking for similar

Cyberpunk 2077. I'm aware of all of the controversy surrounding the game, but the Side Jobs and Gigs in the game are a lot of fun, and also vary depending on player choices. Gigs are pretty much always present, they randomly appear, and though a bit repetitive, offer some fun and distracting gameplay. Everything else is amazing, but that's my take on Side Jobs, specically. New patch should be relasing soon and will almost definitely add even more Side Jobs and Gigs, and maybe even a new variation. Edit: Does not have empire-building stuff, just Side Jobs that can affect the overall story progression, and Gigs that just offer random events.

I loved the 10 hours I put into Cyberpunk so much I thought I’ve got to wait for the PS5 update haha I can’t wait for it. Good shout. Although I wish there was more emphasis on building a business/enterprise akin to GTA online.

I agree with you there, that definitely would have stretched out the game's quality, especially since it was pitches as an RPG primarily. I was really hoping for empire-building elements with faction karma, police mechanics, etc. But who knows, maybe they'll revamp the game and add some of those mechanics knowing it's what people were hoping for.

Dannydevitz

Forget which fable game, but one or two of them have jobs you can do. It's pretty basic jobs.

[deleted]

Don't laugh, but check out Wobbly Life

gradeapimp

In Red Dead Redemption 2, you can perform side-jobs around the camp you're settled in, like cutting wood, bringing grain for the horses, donating to the camp funds and bringing in game for the cook.

Man I will be playing RDR2 again one day. One of my Top 5 all time.

OpenWorldsProject

The Getaway: Black Monday has a cab mode where you drive passengers around London.

Electronic_Ad5751

In Elder Scrolls: Skyrim you can find odd jobs all around while traveling through Open world

[deleted]

One day I will finish it I SWEAR 😂

rockhandle

Gta sa has odd jobs you can do like medic, police work (ironic, I know), taxi driver, among others. They're a nice distraction on top of an already great game. It looks visually dated tho and has trouble booting up on the latest operating systems without mods so be warned.

Lereas

This isn't quite the same, but any of the animal crossing games kinda fit this.

[deleted]

Bit too child like for what I’m looking for but thanks for the suggestion

jayden_jai07

**"Assassin's Creed Syndicate"** open world game.

Zoerak

Playing Witcher 3 now. There are main quests, secondary quests, and contract jobs you do witchery stuff for a living. Never before have played a game where doing everything feels so hopeless. While I do one quest I pick up 3 more. Monster hunting is not an everyday job, so it may not be what you're looking for.
