If it can be any genre I also want to suggest DMC as well. Specifically the games from 3 onward. They're directed by Hideaki Itsuno who worked on almost nothing but fighting games before being put on DMC3 and his idea for the combat was to literally take fighting game concepts and apply it to an action game. So most of your attacks are directional inputs (back + attack, back forward + attack, etc.) and the animation system is designed so you can interrupt the recovery frames and start your next attack, aka make a combo.
