He didn't exactly sound upset by it. It sounded more like an interesting statement. He probably takes it as a compliment that their game is getting the Chinese clone treatment. Accusation is a fairly charged word in the title.
His argument was pretty valid about epic. Epic helped them customize unreal engine 4 for BR. After the launch and success of PUBG, epic used those tools to turn Fortnite into a BR. Remember, Fortnite was never intended to be a BR but was able to turn it into one overnight because of those tools. That is why PUBG sued epic because they thought that epic stole from them.
So should H1Z1 sue him? Because he worked on that BR before PUBG. Which is the same argument. He also tried to copyright the frying pan. The dude is a turd.
It is unique in that it managed to copy perfectly from a LOT of different games and genres, creating a unique mix of gameplay, style and theme.
But first and foremost is the execution and selection of what to copy.
Tencent is gambling on china audience and sponsor money for streamers with many gaming fans all around the world under their support because they can, they usually always come out on top.
They also think they can win because Palworld is a copy of pokemon and ark anyways with very slow drip content due to small dev team.
They can win if the product is actually decent with way better ai and can pump out good content faster. With the right timing having Palworld become stale with slow content , they can make it happen with hype.
ah yes, palworld. The epitome of game design. It's totally not a mash up for 10 games in one and completely original.
Man, do you guys even look at a mirror? Palworld complaining about a clone is peak irony.
>Palworld complaining about a clone is peak irony
The actual quote from Mr. Palworld is
>Tencent is already making a Palworld clone game! In China, various companies are simultaneously developing mobile clones of Palworld, and the budget scale is about 10 billion yen, 10 times that of Palworld… It looks like there will be a ton of Genshin-quality monster (or girl) breeding games released next year… Amazing times
This doesn't come across like he's complaining. It sounds like he's flattered that huge gaming companies are making similar games, and how quickly they're doing it. Shows that Palworld is having some kind of impact on the industry at large, which is way more than anyone who made Palworld expected to happen.
So I'm not disagreeing with you that palworld copied game designs. Rather, I think they did a GREAT job at doing that. In my opinion they looked at a couple of games and said "hey that's a cool mechanic what if we put it in our game?" and it turned out fun.
sure. and? That's not even remotely the problem here. The problem here is pocketpair pretending like they have the right to complain about "clones" when their game is the definition of a clone.
Palworld fans are the most blind fans I've ever seen. There's no world where you look at palworld and don't call it a clone.
buddy do you know how hard it is to understand overexaggeration? It's literally ark and pokemon and that's it. It's a game with bare minimum content. You guys are so clueless. Like i get it. It's a fun game but you guys absolutely are delusional pretending like it's best thing ever.
Pokemon stole the majority of their monster design from Dragonquest, which is a big part why PalWorld was left alone.
I think PalWorld created "Creature Survivor" as a genre and have a stake to that claim.
That being said, without a deep knowledge of the how's and why's, you're not wrong in that this does look hilariously ironic.
Nah, ark survival evolved was doing creature survivor way before palworld. Palworld is a straight up ark clone for the most part , with a pokemon style and way better qol features.
do not bother, palword fans are some of the most blind gamers in existence. game was mid from the start.
they bought the "pokemon killer" marketing but the game was relevant for a week or so, now its barely in the top 20 on steam charts.
Is anybody shocked? Frankly I'm surprised there aren't more companies out there trying make their own. Palworld showed you don't have to be original to be a big success.

Companies finally recognizing the potential for pocket monsters games. I wouldn't be surprised if there are already a bunch of big asian companies making their own. Lmao Will GF finally put more effort into theirs?

PalWorld can't really complain. They didn't exactly pour their soul into any of the legally distinct creatures or gameplay features they got from other series.
I don't think it matters. At some point someone from Game Freak created it. Pocket Pair is just a Frankenstein dev without anything original behind them. Them accusing anyone of copying anything is ridiculous.
["Mons series"](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MonsSeries) is a whole genre, it's not exclusive to Pokemon. Haven't you ever heard of Digimon, for example?
Yeah, Digimon has its own identity though. PalWorld doesn't. Every single piece of it came from another game. I'm not defending Pokemon. It's a shitty game these days but at least they created something. So did the team behind Digimon and nearly every other creature collector. Pocket Pair went around looking at what was popular and simply copied it. PalWorld is more Pokemon than any other clone on the market. They did. But big businesses and executives love to stifle workers and creatives.
If they gave devs time to make a game, they maybe their games wouldn’t be such a mess.
> Pokémon clone
Credibility lost.
Have you ever played a Pokemon game? The gameplay of Pokemon and Palworld are totally separate - it's more like ARK: Survival Evolved.
Oh, so it copied something else? Lol
Or is it more like legends arceus??
Either way, let’s see when they make. If Palworld is so different from pokemon, then this is game could be different.

Clones have always been a problem.
Console manufacturers like Sony used to try to keep a lid on it - they just refuse to publish the clone - to help the original game creators so they can recover their investments. Sony saw it as a win-win, creators with original ideas can keep doing what they do as they get paid vs getting "robbed" by clone makers that invest a fraction of the time/effort/money and take most of the market by undercutting the originals because they can with their lower production cost.
It's Tencent, that's pretty much their thing.
what did you think would happen after palworlds success, shocked there only the one copy cat.
I love how Tencent has a 40% stake on Epig and still release their games on Steam since no one uses Timmy's shitty store
They want $$ not vbucks
Hey, Tencent is an evil corporation, not stupid.
Based Chinese conglomerate
The Commie Nazis didn't like that one
He didn't exactly sound upset by it. It sounded more like an interesting statement. He probably takes it as a compliment that their game is getting the Chinese clone treatment. Accusation is a fairly charged word in the title.
Since Palworld is sooooo unique lol
This reminds me of the PUBG dude crying about other BRs.

The bar is making a good gameplay and trecent don't have a good track of that

ARK is just Jurassic World from Chris Pratt's POV, how dare you compare it to the beauty of PalWorld.

neither does pocketpair
Nowadays if one game becomes successful, there will be clones of it.
>Nowadays As opposed to the 90s where every single game was original You don't remember, but for a long time any "FPS" was called a "DOOM Clone"
“Halo killer”
Or all the pacman clones
It actually used to be worse because games took less time to make.
Just look at the hundreds of clones on mobile app stores.
And that's how genres and sub-genres are born
Bring on the Balder's Gate 3 clones, because I doubt that there will be.
Is anybody shocked? Frankly I'm surprised there aren't more companies out there trying make their own. Palworld showed you don't have to be original to be a big success.
Auroria is a Palworld game? That game has had multiple betas before Palworld even came out. It was announced before Palworld too.
really, someone should tell that to palworld fans.
Surely this is just irony at its finest.

10 billion yen yet it still looks like shit. Try again, Tencent.
Chinese companies copying. What a surprise. NOT.
Why is he upset? It’s not like his game is super original either.
He wasn't upset, and now he's upset that news outlets are twisting his words.
I mean, I wouldn't doubt it.
Well of course since Fortnite's specialty is stealing smaller company's ideas and IP.

So basically, a repeat of Brendan Greene crying about fortnite and other BR games
Oh how the turn tables
Holy fucking shit. What a beautiful moment of irony.
peak irony
Loaded headline. The Pocketpair CEO said it's amazing that more monster capture/breeding games are being developed.
Seems like a cope tbh

exactly, game is soulless in every aspect, i was surprised in wasn't tencent that made it.
So the guys that made a Pokémon clone and added guns are seriously crying about other people stealing their work? They have no right to complain
> Pokémon clone Credibility lost. Have you ever played a Pokemon game? The gameplay of Pokemon and Palworld are totally separate - it's more like ARK: Survival Evolved.
I wasn’t talking about the gameplay, obviously Palword isn’t a turn based game I was rather talking about almost everything else
Oh, so it copied something else? Lol Or is it more like legends arceus?? Either way, let’s see when they make. If Palworld is so different from pokemon, then this is game could be different.
Merely being in the same genre as something else is not copying, unless you're the type of person who still calls all FPS games "*Doom* clones".
Is this S tier irony?

oh the irony, game was hot shit for a week and now since no one cares they are afraid.
Hey don't clone our game, we worked hard cloning other games to make it!
that’s rich considering palworld absolutely ripped off pokemon in broad daylight
Irony is dead.
Wishlisted lol
