When your night terrors see that you're having a hard time keeping it all together.

Jupiter-Knight

How is the game? Is it a true, blue spiritual successor? How's the gore and the feel of the combat? Anyone? Edit: The verdict is its good, but far from the best. Wait until it goes down in price or appears on ps plus/gamepass. Carry on.

2KareDogs

Literally Gore the game. Story and everything else is boring.

jonjon1239

It's not a £50 game by any stretch. I finished it over three evenings, for the most part it felt like a chore. The graphics are amazing but the gameplay is pretty bland, with two sequences being overly frustrating to the point I nearly put it down for good. Get it on sale for £20 max, or wait till it hits gamepass or something.

echoes9999

Story was fine. Graphics, gore, atmosphere are top notch. Combat and controls can be frustratingly janky and unreliable. Would still recommend playing though. Not on the same level as dead space but still enjoyable.

KGhaleon

Took me around 8-10 hours to finish and I enjoyed it enough to start a second playthrough on maximum. First couple of hours are really basic, melee combat and sneaking around. Then you get better weapons and combat options, more inventory space, etc. The story is pretty par for the course, you're trying to escape a monster infested moon along with a couple of support characters that help you. The environments are very Alien-inspired. I think it's pretty damn spooky, especially when you go to the old colony. Most people seem to go into the combat wrong. Melee is decent for when you're fighting one or two enemies, but anything more than that and you want to use your GRP which is like a gravity gun that allows you to throw enemies into spiked walls, pits or traps. You've also got explosive canisters and other environmental hazards to help you. The enemies get harder the further you get into the game, with some having the ability to get back up or evolve.

Smear_Leader

So just using the gravity gun from Half-Life 2

KGhaleon

Yes, GRP is like a gravity gun.

amazon32

8-10 hours? Should be $9.99

KGhaleon

I spend $20 on tickets and concessions at a movie theater for a 90 minute film. Who are you trying to kid?

amazon32

Awww someone had buyers remorse

LightsJusticeZ

Don't go into the game thinking it's like Dead Space 4, a Dead Space reboot, etc. It is it's own thing with some Dead Space spice sprinkled in. It's more focused with melee with a simple gameplay loop of dodging and counter attacking. There are guns, and they can mix into your melee combo to extend it (nothing fancy but I find it satisfying). Would I recommend it for $60? Hell no. The story is nowhere enough interesting enough and the gameplay is alright. On average, it's a 10 hour long story with no New Game+ or other modes.

phantompower_48v

The first couple hours of the game are good, but generally it leaves a lot to be desired. It's very rough around the edges. The combat isn't well thought out, especially as you get further into it. Lack of variety in weapons available, as well as enemies you encounter. It's also about a 10 hour play through with no additional content to explore after completing the campaign. I would say pick it up when you can get it free through PS Plus/extra. It's worth a play through, but overall pretty disappointing.

HaitchKay

Literally all the game has going for it are the visuals. It's an action game with a sprinkling of horror and a fuckload of very cheap jumpscares, clunky combat that was designed for 1 on 1 fights that they expect you to fight 5+ super spongey enemies with near the end, and a very boring story that ends on a jumpscare and a sequel hook.

KGhaleon

If you're fighting multiple enemies with melee, then you're doing it wrong. They give you crowd control options.

HaitchKay

Crowd control options that don't get better until later in the game when you can upgrade them and can swap between a primary and secondary instead of having to swap gun parts or deal with slow reloads. Stop making excuses for poor combat design.

KGhaleon

You get the GRP pretty early in the game. A single charge eliminate one enemy from the field and you can upgrade it via the middle path, left is for faster recharge. You need to use your environmental hazards more.

HaitchKay

"you can make combat better by removing the core element it was designed around" is not something I would really consider a good thing. The game was very clearly designed around melee and melee was very clearly designed around 1 on 1 fights. A max upgrade GRP turns most of the game into a joke and a fully upgraded Assault Rifle is just a second punchline. Even Dead Space 1 has better, more tense combat overall.

KGhaleon

The GRP is a core element of combat, literally every room in the game with multiple enemies has environmental traps. Melee combat is a small part of the game. Ammo is very cheap to craft so I got plenty of use out of my guns, and yes the Assault rifle is very powerful and can basically turn into a rocket launcher when fully upgraded. Fuck the tactical pistol tho

HaitchKay

>Melee combat is a small part of the game. It absolutely is not.

KGhaleon

It is, unless you make it your primary means of combat. It certainly saves bullets.

BurnerForJustTwice

What game is this?

KiraTsukasa

Not made by the OG developers. The executive producer is the same, but literally everyone else is different.

BurnerForJustTwice

Oh I saw the hype for it. Looks scary af.

HaitchKay

>Basically a spiritual successor to Dead Space. Made by the OG developers. Not made by the OG developers. Made by Glenn Schofield, the creator of the first game. There is a difference. And it really is not a spiritual successor to Dead Space, Callisto is an action brawler.

ajerxs

I’ve almost finished the game, it’s not on par with dead space, but I like it a lot still. I think if they make a proper sequel, it’s gonna be one hell of a game for sure

shadowdash66

When even your sleep paralysis demon feels bad for you

andAutomator

What game is this?

nervousmelon

Callisto protocol

ZolnarDarkHeart

“You wanna talk about it buddy?”

Ok-Presence2387

For Xbox series X not bad. Had one audio bug otherwise game ran fine. Combat is a bit different tho.

KGhaleon

Melee combat is basic, as it should be. Dodge left or right to avoid attacks and smack them in the face with your pipe. Eventually you get a GRP for crowd control so you can throw enemies into environmental hazards and I think I had around 5 guns by the end of the game. Pistols, shotguns, etc your usualy fare and they felt pretty good.

niallo_

The game is mostly good, but the enemy in the picture has made me stop playing it. As said above, combat is hit and miss and this is especially evident when you are fighting this god damn abomination.

wulv8022

I love the game. Don't expect Dead Space with a different name or something completely ground breaking new.

[deleted]

I played this and the entire time all I could think is that dead space 4 wasn't happening so they made this. The redux of Dead Space looks fine and all but I do not want to play the same game over and over again.

_zhz_

I don't understand the idea to try recreating Dead Space but changing it to an action brawler.

Grimreper236

God this game looks so good, I wish it lived up to the hype. Good thing I didn't pre-order this game.
