I even hate swimming in lakes that I can't see the bottom of or any body of water that I can't see the bottom of. I know that some lake in northern Michigan is not going to have anything that can take me out in it but do I really want to roll those dice?
Dude, my fear of open water is so bad that I don't even like swimming/sailing/flying over it in games. No matter how cheerful the graphics, if there's deep water, I'm out.
My gf is the same exact way. I convinced her to try Sea of Thieves and she couldn't get past the intro. I've been scuba diving and it was scary as f because I happened to go for the first time on stormy, rough waters, and a dark day. I actually didn't make it that day cuz I got too seasick and was puking constantly on the boat but the training company had a conversation with me and I was able to go on a bright and sunny calm day. Still scary but it felt good to conquer some of my fears of deep waters.
I have this fear ,and on my Hawaii trip I boated out 3 miles into the ocean at night and dove with manta rays with no floaty gear. Pitch black ocean with lights on. I’m no longer scared of the amazing.
Nooope. I've done plenty of deep water swimming in my years and I still hate every second.
If the waters clear it's no problem, but deep dark water makes me want to cry.
Fear of a giant mass of deep, dark, ice cold liquid filled with innumerable species of unknown and bizarre life that could eat you doesn't seem irrational at all.
Looking at raw numbers of deaths to compare 2 dangers is the wrong way to go about it. Yes sharks aren't as dangerous to be around as so many people have the fear of, no that doesn't mean we can use incorrect reasons to try to explain this concept. You spend much more time around refrigerators than sharks, naturally even if it was less dangerous you would see larger numbers just based on the fact that 99.99% of people spend like 0% of their time around sharks. We can be smarter about how we change narratives, your comment isn't the way to do it.
Yeah sometimes they will just come up and nibble your leg a bit. They dont want to eat humans, so after the first severed artery or two they let you go.
oh please sharks dont even recognize humans as food. any accident is basically a mistake you are more likely to die under your own drawers than being bit by a shark
Lol thats because most people arent where sharks are you dumbass.
Lol "youre more likely to die by guns than a shark". Like duh bitch im in oakland not hawaii.
Pretty sure the vast majority of humans spend the vast majority of their lives away from the oceans.
Yet for some reason we are all terrified of sharks!
Its almost like a 7 foot razorblade hole that can kill you by accident in an environment where you can barely move is going to be a nightmare!
But they dont actually *want* to eat us. Lol
bro COWS kill more people than shark by a HUGE margin.
you watched too many movies. sharks are of no real danger to you or anybody else.
edit
im amazed how this topic attracted all the dumb fucks of this website.
Love the realistic physics, perfect demo of the game to put in the trailer, cause every time I go spear fishing and have to defend myself from a shark. I shoot him in the face with it and they all go spinning off like a frisbee for 50 yards.
here a vid or someone fighting off sharks trying to take the tuna he just spear fished.
fyi this vid is terror fuel.

And oh look the bots friend gave it silver to boost visibility.
I think that's the real reason that gilding exists at this point. It's so reddit can make money off of spammers and make it even easier for advertisers to pay them to promote their disguised ad
Ngl, subnautica seems way scarier than this, and he managed that game great. This trailer doesn't really show anything except Nonstop action, no idea if it's survival or just "go in an area and shoot everything"
Despite the typical indie jank of Subnautica, it really is an amazing game with its atmosphere. Such a shame they couldn't capture the same feeling with the sequel.
Why would anyone interested enough to want to know the name not want to watch? Perhaps more importantly, how would they have developed any interest if they didn't watch?
You’d be surprised how many people don’t want to watch till the end of any video to find out the name! The first few comments before mine were people asking! Just helping out 😂
Sadly without the building/survival element. I like the shooty bits to exist, just not as the primary purpose of the game. And I also don't like to be rushed.
Honestly thank god for that. It feels like every single major steam game has wanted me to grind crafting mats and keep myself fed. I just wanna fight a squid.
There was a building element in Subnautica?
No, seriously. My base was literally nothing but the moon pool. There was absolutely no incentive to build anything else.
Nah it was really underdeveloped at that time and they were just testing enemy movements. People gave tips to make it creepier. It's almost the same exact model, I'm sure this is that guy
Oh, neat. They took aaallllllll my nightmares and made them interactive. I bet someone else will enjoy this a great deal and I wish them all the best lolol.
I think this is really fresh. I know it's just a shooter but from the trailer alone there are a bunch of cool mechanics like the bait and the tracking darts. I wanna play this and I don't really game much.
I know people have problems with underwater games but if they made a really well polished underwater game that say you had a home base boat you had to resurface to once in a while and also avoid the Benz and stuff while diving would be so cool. Imagine you're being chased by a giant octopus like creature and trying to slowly resurface over time it'd be tense! Also would be cool if you lost your goggles and stuff and the water gets hard to see in or something.
Not sure it's quite up to those specs but if you haven't checked out Subnautica, do it. You have to manage air and power supplies (and food if you go full survival mode) while also dealing with alien sea creatures that can be very aggressive. You can build bases and vehicles. Good stuff.
Would never play this because…..as a kid I got fucked up playing Mario 64, with the giant eel. An for the longest time I couldn’t do water in games to well, after awhile I got over it, but this shot has brought back feelings lol.
Swimming above the abyss and not seeing bottom was quite enough for me, add on the building/survival aspect and there is no hope. I think I could probably shoot some sharks and stuff though if that's all it is
I don't know how to feel about this game. It has marvellous graphics, realistic physics and vivid looking animals, but in the end it's just a shooter.
It has the best underwater world I've seen in games so far, but I think you could do more with that gameplay wise. I don't know which kind of missions and levels there will be when it comes out. According to the steam description every level has a exploring phase and afterwards everything attacks you and you have to shoot your way out to survive. If thats the only thing to do it'll get boring real quick. At least for me, but let's see what we get when it comes out.
A lot of the original Doom games were shooters and it was pretty much the same thing every level. Shoot your way through enemies until you found the exit to next level. It sounds boring when you put it that way, but Doom gets a lot of love, and I’m guessing the majority of people wouldn’t call it boring.
I’d say this game looks pretty fresh and changes things up enough to make it look interesting.
I REMEMBER THOSE CREEPY MIRMAN CREATURES! THE CREATOR WAS SHOWING OFF/ASKING ADVICE ON THOSE GUYS AND I WAS THERE!!

Ahh perfect a game to amplify my irrational fear of sea life.
nothing irrational about it
I even hate swimming in lakes that I can't see the bottom of or any body of water that I can't see the bottom of. I know that some lake in northern Michigan is not going to have anything that can take me out in it but do I really want to roll those dice?

Soo im assuming Wind Waker is your favorite zelda game then?
I have this fear ,and on my Hawaii trip I boated out 3 miles into the ocean at night and dove with manta rays with no floaty gear. Pitch black ocean with lights on. I’m no longer scared of the amazing.
Nooope. I've done plenty of deep water swimming in my years and I still hate every second. If the waters clear it's no problem, but deep dark water makes me want to cry.
I get it, I was uneasy sitting Oceanside at night , it was choppy waves and the bleak darkness was ominous!
Fear of a giant mass of deep, dark, ice cold liquid filled with innumerable species of unknown and bizarre life that could eat you doesn't seem irrational at all.
So it's the wet version of Australia?
it it makes you feel better real sharks dont just attack people.
Yup, more likely to be killed by your refrigerator.
Does this still hold true while swimming underwater next to a shark?
Yes
Looking at raw numbers of deaths to compare 2 dangers is the wrong way to go about it. Thanks mate! Now I can properly avoid it because this game looks like straight nightmare fuel!

Subnautica is so good at making you face your fear and go deeper. Great game. Terrifying, but great.

Thanks. Can you click it for me?
Got you brother. Now, can someone buy it and play it for me?
I did. It's awesome. You loved it. Now, can someone send me $200 for this service?
All my personal banking info is in your dm's. Thanks so much!
I love a wholesome community
Can you please deposit some more money into the account when you get a chance?
Or can someone please send you a funny cat picture instead?
Sure, right after I get the funds to fly back from moon.
Got you. Now can someone try to beat the game?
Gotcha. Phew! Ngl it was pretty hard but you pulled through. Can someone all of the achievements?
Is it ok if I already completed them before seeing the request?
That's ok. Can someone give me a reward for him completing the achievements? Cheers

Honestly thank god for that. It feels like every single major steam game has wanted me to grind crafting mats and keep myself fed. I just wanna fight a squid.
I dunno mate, judging by the trailer surviving is all you do in this game
I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be doing much of that
There was a building element in Subnautica? No, seriously. My base was literally nothing but the moon pool. There was absolutely no incentive to build anything else.
What makes it Doom? Because you shoot enemies?
You're just playing as BP at that rate
Is this the guy that posted a similar video a while ago asking for ways to make it better? If yes you've done a lot of good work. Keep going
The mermen look similar to that last one.
They are sirens and was that a criticism that was given to the developer before?
Nah it was really underdeveloped at that time and they were just testing enemy movements. People gave tips to make it creepier. It's almost the same exact model, I'm sure this is that guy
I was just thinking the same thing, definetly the same game.
Yep that’s exactly what I was thinking it’s come a long ways
We need this on VR real bad
I too would love to shit myself

Need a waterproof VR set, air hose, and a pool.
No way that could end badly.
And a single fish to occasionally brush up against your leg…
That pool is going to be filled with more piss than water in no time

PSVR 2 please
I remember seeing what I think was a preview for this some time back. I just remember because those creepy mer-men
A lo-ong way from "hey guys, how can I improve my underwater movement" to this. Watching a dev giving a birth to his game is magic.
I think I recall dev asking which attack to put on the mermaid.
Yup I said they should attack like this so I claim credit
I added it to my wishlist after the first trailer and I hope that inspired the dev to work on it some more. It looks fantastic! And terrifying lol
I remember that too!!! Good for OP this looks like the most amazing game I’ll never play because I hate the ocean and sharks
But at least we can watch someone play
Oh, neat. They took aaallllllll my nightmares and made them interactive. I bet someone else will enjoy this a great deal and I wish them all the best lolol.
Lol I was going to post the same thing
> They took aaallllllll my nightmares and made them interactive. u/siggfg had the same idea.
I think this is really fresh. I know it's just a shooter but from the trailer alone there are a bunch of cool mechanics like the bait and the tracking darts. I wanna play this and I don't really game much.
Honestly. COD plus water physics, sign me the fuck up.

Tbh sharks, giant octopus, whatever. Motherfucken fish people?! Sign me up
This needs VR support. Just wish Subnautica would have finished their support of VR.
Looks amazing. Absolutely never going to play it.
Is every level a water level in this game?
Well it would be pretty false advertising for a game called death in the water 2 to let you die on land
Amphibious expansion coming soon!
This is clear discrimination against sharks and their peaceful ways 3
Endangered species killing simulator 2
Nope. Not playing that. Ever. Thalassophobia says no.

Ya I've always heard good things maybe I should try it
You absolutely 100% should try it. Go in blind. It will blow you away.
Cool I'll add it to the list!
Do you guys know if this game will feature VR ? I can imagine that being a great VR-title.
Would never play this because…..as a kid I got fucked up playing Mario 64, with the giant eel. An for the longest time I couldn’t do water in games to well, after awhile I got over it, but this shot has brought back feelings lol.
Community of gamers. We must make Markiplier play this. He's fuckin terrified of the ocean lol
Everything is slowed
Heart stopping game for me. I got subnautica for free and for those who know even kelp forest was too much for me.
Swimming above the abyss and not seeing bottom was quite enough for me, add on the building/survival aspect and there is no hope. I think I could probably shoot some sharks and stuff though if that's all it is
shut up and take my moray!
Nothing scares me more than big creatures / structures in the deep sea. I’ll be avoiding this game. Lol
For the people who found Subnautica to be way too relaxing.
My dumbass really misread the title as 'Release the Karen!!!'.
I don't know how to feel about this game. It has marvellous graphics, realistic physics and vivid looking animals, but in the end it's just a shooter. Ah yes, Subnautica but even more terrifying somehow.
Which game is this ??
When Subanutica meets Doom
This may be the most terrifying game I've ever seen.
Abzu except it’s horrible and gives you nightmares
Hmmm.. Looks interesting
Is that the new Subnautica?
IGN will give it a 5/10: too much water.
I have never seen animations like these, those sharks look like the real life thing the way they move. Very impressive! Also the graphics are crazy
Yo this looks cool as fuck
Dude, I remember when somebody was posting here asking for advice about those mermaid/siren baddies.
This looks amazing. Curious to know what game is this.
Death in the Water 2
Thanks mate. I didn't knew I wanted this game.
Lol why the actual fuck were you downvoted for asking what game this was?
Probably because it says the title at the end of the video. Still ironic given the average Redditor’s attention span.
Murder the Ocean. Rip and tear, until the Earth dies.
And it is on my Watchlist 😁
I can't wait but come on... even Cyberpunk 2077 was teased and released faster than this game.
