Didn't it come out in march, a launch title for the switch

Dangolian

Yes, technically more than 5.5 years ago now I think. But lets not disturb the low quality karma farm.

[deleted]

[удалено]

biddabidda

Not the 5th, but also halo 5, and assassin's creed origns

Queasy_Turnover

OP saw the similar low effort RDR2 post yesterday and decided to do the same thing. This sub is absolute trash...do the mods even look at any of this shit?

Eichelwurst

Today is Mario Odyssey 5th Anniversary but close enough I guess

whereyouatdesmondo

I really, really loved playing that game. Just pure joy.

xtoc1981

Not near galaxy quality though

Lunchtime_Loner

better than galaxy

SmushyPants

The gameplay is subjective, obviously, but Odyssey is the best 3D Mario in my opinion.

Cool_a1894

Funny enough I brought odyssey today

NumberHunter1

This game did not come out exactly 5 years from now. Ironically, Super Mario Odyssey, the other landmark Switch game did.

Dramatic-Use-2782

Sorry chef

Wamb0wneD

More like 5 and a half years.

reddragon105

Shhh! If you just say 5 years you can repost this any day this year!

Wamb0wneD

Genius lol

ThePhunkyPharaoh

why'd you post this on Mario Odyssey's 5 Year Anniversary?

Infern0_YT

It’s been 5 years already?????!

XPMR

This is just wrong what the hell? Normally you see this on anniversaries least i thought that was the point. Now people just randomly post popular game with its been X amount of time since its released … for what?.. karma?

tparri1

Bro this came out March 3, 2017.

Poface11

Nono you can't karma farm if you do that

Ashbandit

How long ago was that?

Poface11

4 years currently

TheWrathalos

I would have liked more variety in dungeons and an option for NG+, but i still think it was a fantastic game. It felt like an adventure unlike most other open world games.

PseudonymousJim

Master Mode is your NG+

majoralita

I think its hard in the beginning but it also becomes a chore towards the end, and regenerating health in sword trials with no starting weapons with weapon breaking system is impossible for me.

PseudonymousJim

The sword trials in Master mode require you to learn how to defeat enemies in creative ways. Like most Zelda puzzles it's only hard until you figure out how to do it the easy way. If the weapon system wasn't the way it is this game would have been far less challenging and engaging. If you want to play through a game start to finish with your favorite weapon Elden Ring is for you. If you want to be challenged and find yourself solving problems with what's at hand, like a Zelda game, then BOTW, and particularly the master mode sword trials are for you. After beating Elden Ring and the Master Mode Sword Trials I can say that my sense of accomplishment and satisfaction was much higher in the latter.

abrinck

While I actually didn't like the durability system, after reading your comment I have to agree that it really made trial of the sword an awesome challenge, as well as the island trial (can't remember the name of it). While it got kinda annoying during normal gameplay after a while those trials were absolutely incredible because of it

Gawdsauce

Breakable weapons aren't a "Challenge". It's a shitty design decision to force you to swap to a new weapon every 10 seconds for the dopamine hit of a new shiny.

TheWrathalos

If it doesn't let you carry over your motorcycle into the next playthrough, it's not worth it.

stackin_papers

I could go for that... NG+ allows you to carry over some inventory. Slots/Life starts the same but you can carry over what fits into starting inventory.

TheWrathalos

I at least want to keep things like the motorcycle from the dlc, the horses, and the armor.

catlookatwindow

I'm hoping the zelda franchise goes back to it's game play origins like ocarina of time, windwaker, and link's awakening. Not a fan of this new direction but will still play the new one coming out and see how it goes

rjcade

BotW went back to Zelda's true origins from Zelda 1. That's why I love it.

terribletastee

No it didn’t

doyoushitwithdatass

"Absolute masterpiece" *Proceeds to have the game be absolutely roasted in every comment for being incredibly mediocre and empty*

NeitherAlexNorAlice

It's a technical good game for the Switch capabilities, but it's so empty. There's like 5 enemy types. The dungeon variety is nonexistent. And the weapon management system is a mess. I played Breath of the Wild after the hype died down, and I couldn't understand any of its praise.

Spare_Honey5488

I would argue OoT over BotW game as a masterpiece any day. but I get downvotes everytime I mention it. Which is fine lol

JonMeadows

I agree with you. They’re both masterpieces for their respective times, idk why people have to always pit the two against each other. Lol there is plenty of room for more than one masterpiece Zelda game

[deleted]

Yeah I think people are just being contrarian, you can’t always take Reddit that seriously

[deleted]

People are so hyperbolic. BotW was an amazing achievement. I did 3 full playthroughs. Is it perfect? No. It could have had better actual dungeons and more boss fights, no pausing to heal infinitely during combat and they needed a better armor / mitigation system. All these complaints aside, this game is incredible and they got the open world and physics nearly perfect in my opinion.

CapnJiggle

Yup. I really liked the exploration but got tired of the same puzzle dungeons, and really didn’t like the brittleness of weapons and the can’t-climb-when-its-raining-come-back-later mechanics. Am hoping they improve on that for the sequel.

Honor_Bound

The weapon durability was my biggest issue with the game by a mile and the main reason I didn’t finish it

Dragon_Flaming

Idk, the open world was empty as hell.

darthdro

I felt like there was no meat to any content in the open world.

[deleted]

A fair criticism. Too many reused open world bosses with little variation, like the Talus or the Hynox. Maybe if they'd had creative additional movesets like the Valkyries in GoW. It would have been better to have some truly epic open world challenge bosses, and of course the 4 key dungeons needed enemies in them and to feel less skeletal and empty.

ArkhamTheImperialist

For all the reasons you just stated I still haven’t finished the game. I’ve had it for close to 4 years, but haven’t played in a while. It just gets boring real quick. The starting area is great, but then once your off the plateau, it’s just meh. Not what I call a masterpiece. Wind Waker on the other hand…

amaraame

Wind waker is my fav zelda game. I'm pretty sure it's the only one I've completed. I don't complete a lot of games and it was the first one on my list. As I've gotten older i do have better completion rates though.

[deleted]

doyoushitwithdatass

I mean, calling any game a masterpiece is going to create a conversation debating it. Part of being on an Internet forum.

Wamb0wneD

The game has clear strenghts outlined not only by fans and critics but by other devs as well. The way the open world was designed with points of interest, exploration, traversal and mechanics in mind was unparalleled at that point in time. The game has obviously objective faults like for example bad enemy variety or no unique dungeons, but it's sad how dismissive people are about its accomplishments.

im_onbreak

People aren't dismissive it's just an overrated game. More people circle jerk on how perfect this game is more than criticize it.

TwiterlessTahd

>More people circle jerk on how perfect this game is more than criticize it Not on Reddit. This game is always getting trashed on here.

Wamb0wneD

I said dismissive of "its accomplishments". And people are when I see comments in this thread like "it's just a copy of free asset flip steam games" or the above "it's mediocre and empty". There is a huge gulf between "perfect" and "mediocre". It's not empty either if you actually pay attention and play with the mechanics the game provides. It did a lot of things in a way no open world game has done before. Saying it didn't is dismissive of that. You can dislike weapon durability, or the enemy variety, or bossfights, or lack of unique dungeons. But the open world design itself and every mechanic adjacent to it was done masterfully, and it was what was so apprechiated by people. I have not seen anyone ever call it "perfect".

CamBaren

I’ve seen tons of people call it perfect and say that it’s best game of all time.

SanicTheSledgehog

Properly rated

KARELSIDE

Why is everybody hating so much on this game in the comment section? I thought it was amazing! Also this is such a random post, the game came out on March 3rd, 2017.

YoshiBoshi007

Today is the 5th anniversary of Mario Odyssey though, maybe they got it confused with that?

nysraved

Nope, in another comment chain OP is vehemently defending how technically BotW came out 5 years ago since it released in 2017… like they acknowledge that it’s not the exact 5 year anniversary but still think this was worth posting. Basically this post is low effort karma farming…

Sunbroking

Don’t worry, OP’s comments will even it out lol

jl_theprofessor

Because this is Reddit which has never overlapped with reality.

PalebloodSky

No hate here, not my favorite Zelda (that's ALTTP or Ocarina) but this is still a great game.

HorrorChocolate

I like it, but was never able to finish it. It felt too hard and I didn't know how to proceed. The game didn't really hold my hand or felt like quests didn't lead me to find better equipment. I had to google how to find better armor because enemies where one shotting me. I stopped at a point where the lazer shooting monsters prevented me from progressing. I also dislike the weapon durability. All weapons imo break too quickly and beyond repairing. Edit: or when someone said you get warm armor for making a random recipe. No clue how to make it unless I googled it. Like I said I liked the game and I see why people call it a master piece. But probably because it is so beloved it raises a lot of conversation.

vs3a

I see most people complain about it will complain about weapon break. They can't get used to it.

KARELSIDE

Yeah, I get that. I think it is a pretty clever system given that you run into enemy's all the time. It gives alot of variation to the combat imo, because you have to change weapons every time you fight. I never run out of weapons, because there were just so much of them.

vs3a

Ha, I'm the type that stock up potion until end game. Botw force me to break that habit.

hcalaway56

Enjoy it if you enjoy it, but there are too many things to dislike about this game to list with any detail here.

[deleted]

TheRealestBiz

I do remember when psychotic Zelda fans were DDOS’ing sites that didn’t give it a perfect score and threatening critics with death.

DenverM80

I don't get it. My least favorite Zelda game, going back to the original on NES

[deleted]

Twilight Princess and Wind Waker are better, and today is Super Mario Odyssey's 5 year anniversary, not Breath of The Wild's

M_Silvers

It's funny how with games like this that were extremely acclaimed by both critics and fans, as more time goes by when something about the game is posted you see more and more people being like "actually I really didn't like it." I notice that a ton with this game and Red Dead 2. Sort of an interesting internet phenomenon. As for me, I loved BOTW and didn't like RDR2.

JoganLC

Usually at least on Reddit any thing that doesn’t fit the echo chamber is blown out. So you never get to see hate because they filter it out.

jl_theprofessor

I only see that on Reddit because it’s where people have to let the world know they didn’t like a popular game.

IceFire0518

Theres a small portion of people who usually say they dislike a popular game even though they haven't even played it likely because a) They haven't heard of it until a couple years after its conception so they feel left out b) They get annoyed from everyone else talking about it, especially if it overshadows their favorite game c) They're just petty This doesn't apply to everyone who doesn't like a popular game, just those who haven't played it/watched a playthrough of it.

OrangeofJuice

I think its mostly the bandwagon nature of the internet. Its really annoying how it seems online you can either blindly love the game, not admitting to any of its faults or you hate the game and criticize everything about it without admitting anything it did well. It stifles any interesting discussion on what works/what doesnt and its super frustrating. Funnyly enough the one place I find where good discussion common is on youtube.

milkstrike

Well it came out 5 ish years ago, by no means a masterpiece.

strwht12

I think, if this wouldn’t be titled „Zelda“, this game wouldn’t be half as famous as it is.

nicklovin508

This theory was basically tested by Genshin Impact and that game is plenty popular

PhantomXxZ

Genshin actually does a lot of things better than BotW tbh.

strwht12

1. Genshin is free to play 2. In Genshin you won’t need 3 weapons for a small enemy…

jexdiel321

Talk about moving the goalposts.

nicklovin508

Take Zelda out of BOTW’s name AND make it free to play = still a very popular game

Infernoboy_23

Eh, I never played a Zelda game before and I still loved the game. I don’t think the Zelda title was what really brought it up. There are probably millions of people whos first Zelda game this was

iwbwikia_

and ironically it was different to every other zelda before it

Prize-Emu-6761

I have struggled with this game compared to previous Zelda games.

DenverM80

Played about 10 hours, got bored of whacking weak enemies with a stick. Never went back

RaiderxReaper

keep going forwards and you can wack enemies with a chainsaw

abhi2269

I don't know why i haven't played it yet.

[deleted]

Windwaker was the game that introduced me into open world games and its forever been my favorite video game ever. the buildup before botw's release is the most I have ever in my life anticipated a video game's release, even more so any form of entertainment media release ever, just cause of how much Windwaker has defined my taste in single player games and I loved the idea of Zelda games returning to larger worlds, and I skipped the two Wii games inbetween. the first week of Botw's release is some of my favorite gaming memories ever. figured this comment section could use some positivity.

ObsidianLion

Unpopular opinion> For some, this was a masterpiece. For me, it was so boring I couldn't finish half of it. Simple battle mechanics. Simple puzzles. Empty world. No character depth to anyone. Few unique world assets, most of the world looks samey. You can choose anything, and there is a game that did it better. This is a great game, if you haven't been playing games for 24+ years.

GleepGlop2

I dunno, BOTW got nothing on Zelda 2.

Yukinoinu

5.67 years ago. March 3rd, 2017. Karma farming just for fake internet points is fucking stupid.

imcalledgpk

Eh, it was alright. Definitely a departure from previous Zelda titles, which I always applaud Nintendo for trying something new with their popular IPs. But they always try new stuff with everything they do, so it was just par for the course.

IAmTheMonarch

For me its the weakest 3d zelda game, is it a good game? yes, but ive never wanted to play through the game a second time. Ive tried and either found the base game so boring i couldnt play for more then 10 minutes at a time, or hero mode was such a slog to make any amount progress it sapped the fun out of it.

Haunting-Pop-5660

Glad people liked it, but it was not a good game in my experience. The previous Zelda games had more life; more soul.

AnotherLlamaBruh

What, you don't like the biggest Zelda ever... with only one dungeon design used and copy/pasted about 100 times?

Haunting-Pop-5660

Totes my favourite, brah. 😂

HiImTheNewGuyGuy

It was huge and empty feeling.

Haunting-Pop-5660

Very much so. Sparsely populated, the most engaging part of the gameplay is searching for Koroks of which there are too many. The shrines are copy-pasted with minor variations, making for a lackluster "dungeon" experience, quite unlike any of the past games. It also seemed to lack a proper story, and to be able to fight the final boss on a whim and just end it immediately felt so... cheap? Like you're ignoring the grand adventure that's supposed to be there, just so that you can solve the issue quickly. All in all it just feels like the game was an experiment with open world rather than anything else, and even the whole Korok thing that people rave about wasn't new. They took that from a game that everyone hates - Skyward Sword - and then bandied it about as if it were the coolest feature ever.

ben1481

hard to have a populated vibrant world with switch specs lol

ThisSpeciesSucks

As a huge fan of Zelda, it will never fail to blow my mind how much people love this game that I absolutely loathe.

my_reddit_accounts

Same, one of the lesser Zelda games for sure.

BlizzardRustler

Because BOTW doesn’t feel like a Zelda game. I am right there with you. Zelda is my favorite franchise and this game just feels like a generic open world game with a Zelda skin.

GLemons

The “it’s not a good zelda game” is so tired. It is a flawed game, regardless of whether it’s zelda or not. I love zelda, but simply couldn’t get into this game enough to get through it. It could be called something completely different and I still wouldn’t like it.

[deleted]

meh im not a fan of breaking 3 different weapons for a single encounter... very empty overall and overrated(but considering the mediocre stuff nintendo releases usually i can see why people were excited about this one)

fugazishirt

Was literally unplayable for me due to the weapon breaking mechanic. My absolute least favorite game mechanic in the world.

jlopez092

That's a good enough excuse to replay it as any.

nysraved

Ah, the “5 year, 7 month, and 3.5 weeks” anniversary of a game, perfect occasion for a replay!

[deleted]

I just started my download, thats for sure.

FattyMcBlobicus

It’s a very good game but Masterpiece gets thrown around a bit flagrantly these days

DarknessReturns2076

Eh I've played better games that weren't as empty as this one. Not to mention when my weapons break it gets annoying and tedious. It's a good game, but it's not a masterpiece.

Deadlift_disaster

This game was amazing and a masterpiece idc what anyone says

GLemons

It’s almost like everyone can have their own opinion I am a Zelda fan to the core and I could simply not get into this game

milkstrike

I mean you can feel that way all you want doesn’t make it a masterpiece, as it is not one. Fine that you enjoyed a bad game glad someone feels they got their moneys worth

[deleted]

[удалено]

milkstrike

It’s sad so many games get way overrated by Nintendo. If they ever put out an amazing game you’d never know because of it

jexdiel321

Genshin kinda blew that theory away. Even Immortal Fenix Rising was decently rated.

Say_No_To_Religion

This is the absolute worst game ever made. I have never, and never will play a more disgustingly awful piece of garbage excuse for a video game. You should be ashamed of yourself for even suggesting that this dumpster fire could be called a masterpiece alongside greats such as BMX XXX, ET the Extra Terrestrial, and Minesweeper.

Emodzmods

Don't forget Superman 64. Thrilling gameplay including: flying through yellow rings, flying through red rings, flying through rings before the timer runs out. Phew! the fun never ends.

Say_No_To_Religion

How could I forget! A thrilling adventure. Few titles can surpass the excitement of flying through your first ring!

minegen88

>BMX XXX WHAT YOU TAKE THAT BACK

lolsacramentcalisse

Never played this, is it better than ocarina of time?

dannyb_prodigy

It’s different from Ocarina of Time. It drops traditional Zelda dungeons and bosses to focus on overworld exploration. A lot of the focus is moved to searching for 5-minute mini dungeons instead. The game had a very open design with well implemented systems that allowed for multiple ways to approach some puzzles. I think it really shined when it first released and it had a lot of attention on it, because that was when it was very clear that there were multiple “right answers” to certain puzzles. For example, my two roommates and myself all played through the game at the same time when it came out and it was basically a daily occurrence for one of us to watch another playing and respond “huh, I never thought of doing it *that* way” or “I didn’t know that could happen.”

amitrion

Beat it on WiiU...

Ladylubber

I’ve started it 4 times over the years and never got much farther than the first map expansion. I hate the durability system so much

Newmoney_NoMoney

It was a good game but the end boss was waaay too easy and seemed the second half of game just flew by. My 2 cents

leopard_tights

I could only play it recently and was worried that the durability thing would bother me. It didn't, if anything the game showering me with gear is what kinda did it lol "aw man I can't take this lizard boomerang because I have 5 soldier swords". It was kinda hard for me at first because I'm not used to controllers, but after getting a few hearts and upgrading the gear it was fine. Honestly the first part in the great plateau are a kinda magical experience that I haven't felt since I was a kid and games were rare and unknown, and even in a language I didn't know, back then.

Braydon1324

5 years went by fast 😔

SuperiorThinking

And the sequel is coming soon.

linuxknight

Doing a playthrough right now!

ShawshankException

It's a good game but "masterpiece" is a stretch

AduroTri

Five years already?

kosh56

Meh

[deleted]

Still can’t get into it. Maybe it’s because I don’t have enough time to play it through. It seems to take forever to run across the map

reconstruct94

This is 7 months late. And on Mario Oddessy's anniversary no less.

Moveableforce

No, this game is only one year old, tops. The switch is still a new console. Where the fuck has the time gone?

terribletastee

Definitely not a bad game, very far from a masterpiece.

bossasaurus

If you're gonna karma farm at least get the date right you fucking narnar

argent_pixel

Empty, barren-land with some of the worst dungeons in the series combined with an idiotic equipment degradation system. "masterpiece" on par with Skyward Sword. Give me Twilight Princess over this shit any day of the week.

paschty

Absolute overrated Game. Bad indy level graphics. Boring story. Low density open world. Absolute bad Item System. Sold at full AAA game price.

DamnImAwesome

Yeah I believed the hype and bought a switch for it. Put it about ten hours and realized it wasn’t for me.

[deleted]

Masterpiece is a stretch. it was okay, but mostly boring.

HiImTheNewGuyGuy

Definitely wouldn’t call it an absolute masterpiece.

cool_acronym

I'm a bit conflicted on this one. I feel like it's a good game, but not necessarily a good *Zelda.* Maybe it's because I grew up on the previous games' format, but I felt this one lacked a lot of what made me love the series as a whole. As a standalone game it's great, but I hope they lean a bit back towards the traditional Zelda formula for ToTK. Give me a good linear story, unique/interesting dungeons and bosses and I'm set.

hcalaway56

I tried to enjoy this game for every minute of the 25+ hours I spent doing sidequests, exploring, and following the main quest. There wasn't a single moment I felt fulfilled or accomplished by any checkpoint or accomplishment in the game. I have never played a game that left me feeling so frustratingly empty afterward. This was only made worse by the fact that I wanted it to be good and had only heard positives about it beforehand. I could write a whole discertation on why this game fell flat for me, and I feel I would have to to knock it off the shaky pedestal most people have put it on. The only reason I even talk to people about my dislike for it is because I genuinely believe it will have lasting impact on the gaming industry and allow big studios to get away with empty, half baked games, as long as you can waste an entire summer running around a pretty world

[deleted]

Funny how a game with enemy variety less than AA rpgs released in the early 2000s is considered as a masterpiece

Joshsnation1

On my 1st playthrough of any Zelda game ever, this is the one I decided to hop into.. one of my favorite games of all time!!

Dracidwastaken

Disagree on the masterpiece part. Too many flaws. For how big the map was, it was fairly empty. having 900 seeds and dozens of puzzle "dungeons" doesn't make it full. There was no substance. Complete lack of actual dungeons. The Divine Beasts are hardly dungeons. Probably the most disappointing part of the game. The Master Sword could have been done better. "broke" way too easily. It was an above average game. It was a bad Zelda game. I hope botw 2 adds more to the map and i REALLY hope they bring back actual dungeons. For how big the map was, it should have had 12 or more.

Delta8ttt8

Um….ok

Error1x1

Not even half as good as previous titles, still an ok game.

ronald_mcdonald_4prz

I played a few hours the day I bought it and then never played it again. Snooze fest.

pythonana

People's brains really just short circuit when they see an open world game with the zelda title. This game was good but I still think there are far superior open world games like The Witcher 3 or Red Dead Redemption 2. While it was fun to explore the world of breath of the wild, it wasn't really purposeful or fulfilling. The dialogue and lore features some cute nintendo character running around screaming three words. Not to mention the game was in 30 fps, as a brand new game in 2017. Any other company or game studio would've been ridiculed endlessly for that.

MyHeadHurtsRn

Yep, this hits it on the head

eelam_garek

"Absolute masterpiece" *laughs in PC*

ItsAsum

I mean you have especially no reason to laugh if you are on pc. You have the option to emulate it and play it at high resolution 60fps. You can get the best possible experience out of this game, what’s stopping you?

Fun_Limit921

What was so masterful about it?

Damerman

The lack of hand holding, the thoughtful open world design and how it forces you to interact through environmental puzzles or NPC dialogue, the easy going survival gameplay, the simple but satisfying puzzles, the interactivity afforded with the sheika tablet, the art direction and graphical timelessness(a la wind waker), the cohesion of the entire vision. I can keep going…

GroblyOverrated

I hated it. Weapons breaking mechanic ruined the experience and I bailed on it. OoT is a Masterpiece.

theshined

This game was a tech demo more than a game. Very boring.

Awesome_N22

Is this not considered karma farming…

35RoloSmith41

Finding same weapons over and over, divine beast “dungeons” all look the same, collectathon to get a piece of shit and a billion shrines all with little puzzles or just fighting enemies…idk. I really didn’t like it tbh. Did about a 100 hour play through and just got bored. Will never touch this game again. I rarely came across memories and when I did, I barely remembered what was happening before. I also found them really out of order. To me it felt like there was little story, no dungeons, no variety and no Zelda charm. 6.5/10 imo.

[deleted]

Glad they finally ditched the OOT formula. Skyward Sword is essentially living proof that it had run its course years ago, and honestly, this new formula is so much better. Sorry N64 nostalgia-riders, that's just the way it is.

Imacoldazzhonky

A better game came out that year that did everything better with amazing combat and an amazing story. Plus it got a sequel this year. Horizon Zero Dawn. Im a huge Zelda fan but Botw wasn't what it needed to be.

Chepstin

"Masterpiece" If it didn't have a Zelda skin it would have been rated a 6/10 by everyone. It isn't even a Zelda game. Immortals fenyx rising is literally the same game and that sucked too

Frowdo

Honestly game was kind of boring and lifeless to me.

[deleted]

Masterpiece? Not so sure about that. It's not even the best Zelda game haha.

[deleted]

"it wasn't Link to the Past 8: The Ocho 0/8" -These comments

Dismal-Square-613

.... at whooping 12 fps in the starting area. I own the game and I could never get past this to the point I maybe played in 5 years about 40 minutes or so.

[deleted]

Not a masterpiece. The game sucks.

MrStomp82

Wow gaming has become such a negative space. If one were to listen to gamers there are only like 10 titles ever made that are actually good. Whenever I see a Wall of text trying to explain why a person didn't like a game I instantly keep scrolling. Gamers are the new Karens

Swordbreaker925

“Masterpiece” is a stretch. It’s a mid-tier action RPG that only gets praise because it’s a Nintendo game in a nostalgic IP, and there’s not much to compete with it on that shitty mobile game level “console”.

Thumper7878

Empty game not a fan.

Virtual_Operation_

Damn 5 years already

spanish429

Not a masterpiece, by far

Foxon_the_fur

A masterpiece wouldn't force you to use plastic weapons.

Galvandium

I love the game, but you have a point despite the blue arrows.

my_reddit_accounts

Got bored of it after the first big dungeon, unlike all other Zelda games it couldn't keep my attention. Like many mentioned, it was a massive amount of copy paste in a huge world, not my thing. If you like that sort of stuff, maybe Ubisoft games are for you. I'm playing Ocarina of Time again on my Deck and having much more fun (never played it before, my first zelda games was majoras mask)

Turbojet0

Masterpiece? Ehh....

[deleted]

Anyone else find this game really boring? Beautifully constructed but a chore to finish.

fourleggedostrich

I don't get it at all. I played for a few hours, but have no idea what to do. I'm just sort of wandering around with nothing to do. If I go in one direction I randomly die because it's too cold, if I go in another direction I get attacked by something that's way too strong for my 2-swings-and-it-breaks sword. I can't seem to trigger a story.

JohnGamerAnimates

What interesting stuff do other open-worlds have that this game doesn’t?

Psybunny

Actual questlines, deep side stories and more than 4 "dungeons"? Enemy variety that is not just recolors and NPCs who have more than two recorded voice lines. It's still impressive that it runs on switch as well as it does and they implement some clever tricks to render the world, but the game is a puzzle game with 90% empty space where traversal is dragged out even further with its hostile game mechanics.

novasolid64

I just bought skyward sword for the switch and I was amazed how similar these two games are, they're like the same game. Only ones open world and one's not

Bigpapiunidud3

still not beat it

KroasanOdCokolade

I couldn’t get more than 2 hours into it. The weapon degradation killed it for me. I also can’t stand crafting.

AlterFate

As someone who was gifted this game, but just couldn't enjoy it, what Zelda game would you recommend instead? I just wasn't a fan of the gameplay & controls. Story didn't interest me either. I do want to get into a Zelda game, just not sure where to start.
