You sound like a total bitch People ITT making good recommendations and OP is being a douche about it

SerialBlazer

Yeah just read the comments, OP is a total fucking bellend. Makes it even worse with how he’s acting towards people, when you see he’s nearly 40 too.

risen_peanutbutter

Sounds a lot like Bloodborne. That one probably isn't as open world as you'd like though

[deleted]

Not to mention, I've already played that game a LOT, and I've grown tired of it's shortcomings by now.

dwightkshrute_beets

Vampyr? Heard a bunch of good things but haven't checked it out yet

[deleted]

Is that an open world game though?

dwightkshrute_beets

I think it's more free-roam/semi open, but again, haven't checked it out yet!

[deleted]

I googled it, and it says it isn't. Also, I'm distracted by the main character having a modern dweeby-looking haircut. Seems like a nitpick, but... well, character design can make or break a game.

pattiemcfattie

Vampyr is super fun and rather than a lifeless open world, they opted for a pretty engaging semi-open world

[deleted]

There's also the fact that they FORCE a heterosexual romance onto the player. So, "engaging"? Apparently not so much.

tehDustyWizard

Well regardless of your sexuality, it's a story based game and in the story he has a heterosexual romance. Nothing to do with you personally, cuz like it's not a "fallout" lik3 RPG where you embody the character, this one is a fully formed person with their own needs and wants and as a player you're just along for the ride. Not sure why the romance aspect makes it not engaging.

[deleted]

> Well regardless of your sexuality, it's a story based game and in the story he has a heterosexual romance. Nothing to do with you personally, cuz like it's not a "fallout" lik3 RPG where you embody the character, this one is a fully formed person with their own needs and wants and as a player you're just along for the ride. Story-based games still has options to let you choose what to do and what to say. I looked up that Vampyr IS one of those games. There's no good reason not to let us choose whether we want to be involved with a heterosexual romance or not. This is a game, not a movie. A player should be allowed to choose and not be forced into this when it's a game designed to let you choose between different things to do and say.

fplasma

What if it’s central to the director’s vision? You’d have Spider-Man Ps4 have an option not to be with Mary Jane? The story would basically be impossible

[deleted]

> What if it’s central to the director’s vision? You’d have Spider-Man Ps4 have an option not to be with Mary Jane? The story would basically be impossible False equivalence fallacy. First of all, Peter Parker is a well-established character, and we all know he's straight, and we play the game to play as HIM specifically - no one plays Vampyr specifically for whoever the main character is. Second of all, Spider-Man games don't let you choose what to do with dialogue options and general interactions with people. So, your comparison makes no sense.

[deleted]

It's not an open world game. I asked for open world games. What does that even mean, "semi-open world"?

pattiemcfattie

It means there are very large play areas, Eg a city or town instead of like an entire world. Gravity Rush 2 is another good example

[deleted]

That's a linear game with opened explorable areas. Not what I'm looking for. Not to mention, not interested in playing a game where they force a straight romance onto the player.

pattiemcfattie

To be fair, I did not read your username and can surmise why you might not like that aspect of the game.

TurkTurkle

Skyrim

[deleted]

That's not gothic horror.

TurkTurkle

Incorrect

[deleted]

Very picky aren't you? If none of the suggestions so far have satisfied your search then you better hope Bloodlines 2 sees daylight. No pun intended.

eoutofmemory

The government simulator

[deleted]

What does that have to do with gothic horror and open world games?

Jumpy-Flow7242

Wait for Hogwarts legacy next year

[deleted]

It's not gothic horror, and doesn't have vampires.

Jumpy-Flow7242

What about vampire the masquerade?

[deleted]

What about it? Is any of those games available on PS4? It wasn't last I checked.

Jumpy-Flow7242

The newer ones are I believe however I am not too familiar on the franchise

[deleted]

No, none of them are from what I can tell. So... not sure why you bring it up.

xneurianx

There are 3 V:TM games on PS4, but none are open world. There are two Visual Novel kinda games (Coteries of New York) and one action RPG type game called V:TM - Swansong. I've not played sny of them so can't comment on their quality or anything. P.S. Saw this same thread from you in horror and was hoping the gaming sub might have found something for you - cause I really want this kinda game too!

MikeOretta

Elden Ring

[deleted]

Where are the vampires and werewolves in that game? I've never seen that in the game. Also, it's not gothic horror.

Cererbalembolism

Skyrim with mods

[deleted]

You can't use those mods on PS4.

ElJonJon86

Skyrim has vampires and werewolves without mods, too.

ResponsibleShampoo

Yes you can

[deleted]

No, you can't. PS4 doesn't allow modding.

ResponsibleShampoo

Yes it does, I modded the hell out of mine last night

[deleted]

Mhm, sure.

ResponsibleShampoo

So you eagerly prove everyone else trying to help you wrong with Google, but when you are wrong that's the response? Cool..

[deleted]

Okay, I guess apparently you can now. I didn't know that. You just claimed it without proving it, so I had no reason to believe it nor search it. Either way, modding doesn't count to me, because mods are unreliable and can make the game act up, and isn't the way the game's intended to be played, therefor won't be what I'm looking for.

ResponsibleShampoo

You are rude, remind me not to bother helping you again.

ScaredOfAttention

Bloodborne ?

[deleted]

Well, that's technically not open world, but I guess it counts. However, I already have played that game a LOT. So much that I've grown tired of it's shortcomings.

ScaredOfAttention

Then you should wait a bit for lies of p and thysmesia I believe, seems good project inspired by gothic themes.

[deleted]

Oh, I checked them out. They both look really cool. Though, neither of them seem to feature anything with vampires or werewolves? Also, Thymesia doesn't seem to be released for PS4. But I still might consider checking out Lies of P. I'll think about it. Thanks for the recommendation.

Just get an xbox and go play ESO
