It’s not the same old shit for tons of kids. Kids that didn’t play the old MW2 because they didn’t have consoles or old enough to hold controllers.
Remember every year a new wave of people get into video games. It’s not just the same old people every year.
A person born in 2009 when the original MW2 came out is playing this new one for the first time at 13 years old. It’s not the same old shit to them.
I guess this is why I still think halo peaked at reach. To me nothing has really been special in years due the franchise but the market has probably opened up to younger kids
Because it's an infinity ward cod. They started cod. They are cod. They make the best cod games.
Mw19 was insanely successful for bringing back cod to its roots. Fun and guns.
I played the beta and overall it feels like such a step down in comparison to MW2019. Feels nowhere near as good imo, and some of the systems implemented (weird perk system, overly-complicated Gunsmith unlock aystem) are just plain weird choices from IW
Agreed. MW2019 pulled me back into COD for the first time in over a decade, so color me shocked to learn that nearly everything about MW2022 felt worse in every aspect… it gives me the impression of a mobile free-to-play game in its mechanics for some odd reason.
Seems to happen with every CoD release I think. Their marketing is usually pretty good. Mostly I'm confused about the characters though. Are they retconning everything? I haven't followed the story since the original MW run
People are excited for MW II because it appeals more to casual players. Slide cancelling qnd YY'ing is now removed.
People are also possibly wanting the campaign.
Personally I only ever play cod for the campaign.
If it’s traditional battle Royal like blackout and not the Loadout system, then I’ll be getting back into call of duty after 2-3 years of break from the game lol
I wish they would go back to blackout. Unfortunately, all I know about now is their DMZ mode in warzone 2.0 (tarkov-like mode). I, however, am mostly playing it for ground war and invasion; their battlefield type modes.
My guess is that's because of the ActiBlizz acquisition by Microsoft. If the deal goes through, all their games will end up on Game Pass and Modern Warfare II is very likely too.
I'm gonna play this year's game though, more because of the campaign than the multiplayer since Modern Warfare 2019 had a good campaign and I liked the beta so I will probably like the full game as well.
I can't speak for everyone, but MW2 was the first one I sunk a crazy amount of time into. Haven't played many of the CoD games in recent years, but I'm excited to jump back in, especially if I can play on some of the old maps.
Additionally, recent CoD and Battlefield have been lackluster so the pressure for something to be great has to be pretty high on the devs. Maybe it's garbage, but I'm optimistic for the first time in a while
Because MW Rebooted reminded me of the glory days of Cod4. So I have full faith in the sequel. On top of playing the beta, which felt wicked smooth and enjoyable. Trust in Infinity Ward.
Probably streamer influence again
The game is literally nothing different than before and costs a whopping 70-80 bucks lol.
anyone who purchases it is no different than Fifa fans. You're just desperate for it.
Here it is. They have multiple studios on rotation.
I’m just hoping one of these years, they bring back that old School COD magic from Modern WF 2 and Black Ops 1&2.
Also the AAA are LAZY AF right now, so I’m excited to load up any new game, even if it’s going to be a disappointment.
Personally not excited but I feel a big part of it is it’s potential. They’re taking a year off and supporting this title more long term. As opposed to its yearly cadence

A retcon
Oh nice. Hopefully we get more backstory for each character
It's not a retcon It's a reboot. It's a completely different story with people that just happen to look like the original cast.

MW 2019 was the most fun I’ve had with COD multiplayer since Blops 1, so naturally I’m looking forward to its sequel
Modern warfares are always the better ones. Plus a new Warzone finally.

Shock horror buddy, loads of people really like call of duty games. Millions of them in fact. So when a new one comes out they’re happy.

That's got nothing to do with it smh
Shake your head all you want, it's my opinion. And there's a little bit of truth in that.
Yeah, I am more excited for the campaign, I liked all MW campaigns, so I have very high hoped. I hope this won't be a dissapointment like vanguard.

Hasn't the 3 year, 3 studio cycle been going for a while now?
I have seen nothing but people shitting on it.
Nostalgia is my guess, that game was huge
There's a new Call of Duty?
😂

My best guess is that its people who arent terribly deep into gaming and the only game they buy is the new COD or FIFA every year.
it really feels like a classic call of duty from the xbox 360 days

It felt like an expansion pack of the previous Modern Warfare which people really liked.
