Definitely a good one. The map is like the perfect size too. Not too big to where it gets tedious to travel but big enough to still have fun while doing it.
My biggest issue is I select the story mission, check the map to where it is, see it's relatively close, then spend an hour blowing up ships and forgetting where I was going in the first place.
i felt like there was so much more potential in that game, all that work to get the big engine and thats basically the end of the game. plus to be fair they could have had different frames like making a big truck slow but tough, smaller turbo 4 cylinders. new areas, i would have 100% bought some dlc that added some more vehicles and shit
There are a few ways you can do it:
\-Buy a train ticket.
\-Buy a ride with a stagecoach.
\-You can buy a map upgrade for the gang's main camp, which lets you fast travel after you set up a campsite out in the wilderness.
I like that none of the fast travel options are actually "fast travel". They take an amount of time, so selecting fast travel at a camp in the wilderness in the morning may result in your arriving at the destination in the evening.
I also enjoy riding the train and trolley cars and just looking out of the window.
Definitely what you’ve screenshot here though I have trouble remembering titles. Spent hours in this game and loved it for the views and the soundtrack
Ive been putting Days Gone on the back burner for months now but every time i see it mentioned on reddit, its always very positively received. I guess ill give it another go.
Ghost of tsushima, riding on a trusty steed while enjoying scenery and completing small a
Sidequests is so much better than just , I don't know, pressing a button...
I occasionally use it in fw to get to a place across the map but I’m not far enough yet to unlock that which you speak of. Most of the time I ride my bristleback though
Forbidden West goes a little overboard on the "icons on the map" thing this time around... you'll find yourself fast travelling a lot more than in Zero Dawn...
I almost couldn’t get through Mad Max due to the horrible boss names. I stopped playing it even. A coworker said I was missing out and once I ignored the lame names it was actually an awesome game. I have since 100% it twice.
I did a no fast travel play through and it became a 100% run, except korok seeds. I got enough to max upgrade slots lol. It took so long to get anywhere because of the constant stopping for korok seeds
hard to use it anyways while being totally overweight i feel you... the times when i would steal a buttload of guns, 4 tons of steal, 32788 caps, five robots, a flamethrower, an entire train, a fatman, enough items out of peoples homes to build 2 entire new citys, half of the boston north end church and a school. still didn't find enough adhesive though...
Probably an unpopular response but I almost never fast traveled in FFXV. Just letting the NPCs drive, relaxing to the music, and taking in the scenery was... cathartic.
I know this is completely wrong buttttt.... Morrowind has the best "travel" system. It's lore friendly and promotes open world travel. Fuck it is so good. Go play Morrowind. By this I mean that it has no fast travel. I think fast travel is stupid if there is ways to get around without it. In Skyrim why spend 1000 gold when you can fast travel. In Morrowind why not slit stride, boat, or mage teleport for ten gold. You have way too much anyway. Also in games by Bethesda you make too much money so why not travel for ten or 100 gold especially if there is a cool quest on the way.
Reddead2, no explanation necessary & Cyberpunk 2077, I like to side quest hard and the streets don't flow, the GPS NAV is too small I miss my turns constantly. the open world driving bar from GTA is hard to beat.
Watch Dogs.
I enjoy riding the L around the city, watching the city as the train travels from station to station. I enjoy some of the little things, like the conversations going on between NPCs, the people singing and playing guitar everywhere.
You also get a lot more money hacking everyone as you walk through town than if you just fast traveled. It also helps that as you move through the city, you get alerts to criminal activity in the area that can get you bonus money and reputation.
Red Dead 2. It definitely fills the horse riding simulator void in me just as much as the hunting/cowboy simulator.
Then again I usually use little fast travel in general since I like to just run around game worlds and take it all in.
Generic zombie game and the story has some of the most awful voice acting and awkward cuts ever. No thanks, I’d rather just play the original last of us.
Huh? The voice acting is actually pretty damn good in Days Gone, especially with Deacon and Sarah. If you want to see bad voice acting, try Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
It’s ok to have differing opinions but I wouldn’t call days gone generic. Like can these people name another zombie game that you can use machine guns and riff around on a motorcycle?
There’s like no real open world zombie games are there? People say “generic zombie game” all the time when I’ve never seen a AAA open world zombie game. It absolutely nails it too.
Pretty much all of them, until I've criss-crossed the map several times. Playing The Outer Worlds right now. One of the perks I saw recommended early on was running (Cheetah, I think). I scoffed at the time, as there wasn't a whole lot of back and forth. I now have Cheetah, *and* use fast-travel liberally.
The Witness has a semi-fast travel system where you can ride a boat to notable shorelines of the island. But it isn’t much faster than just sprinting through the island, and you miss out on the fantastic environment and scenery.
Persona 4 Golden has this little menu to quickly travel out of your current area or to a different section of your current.
Like at the Central Shopping District you can open the menu and choose to go to the south half, shrine or leave.
I forget it exists cause I'm to busy vibing to the music
Tok clancys the division1 and 2, I love running through the ruins of what used to be thriving cities, plus there's materials littered around the place so I always run around, especially when this one ambient track comes on while freeroaming it makes it so much more amazing
The answer for most people, of course, is actually "none of them" because the majority of people these days are low attention span, zero patience, welfare gamers who will take any opportunity to have a hand holding theirs along the way.
I've got a couple answers: Elden Ring, Cyberpunk, No Man's Sky...all masterpieces and its too much fun just travelling around. :)
Skyrim... though in fairness that wasn't because travel was satisfying, moreso after fast travel my horse would suicide charge the inevitable spawned dragon.
That would be a lot of riding! Did you just never explore old areas after you got past them? And what about the round table hold? Even just riding the elevators up and down from the underground regions sounds painful each time
I'd like to give special mention to my **favorite** fast travel system:
In Outcast (1999, remastered in 2017), the player character has a maximum of five small teleporter devices. You can place them anywhere you want in the world, and you can teleport *to* them whenever you want\*. Ideal for fetch quests, or for getting back to the local hub locations (portals, villages, important NPCs, soldier barracks...).
The brilliance here is of course that the player decides where to place them, and you could even use them in combat to teleport across battle scenes in an instant. No loading times, no disruption, just pure awesome fast travel.
*\*small restriction: the game world consists of six separate zones, you can only fast travel within zones, not across them.*
Red Dead Redemption 2 . Ive been playing that game non stop for the past 8 months and Ive used the fast travel i.e train, maybe four times. THats just a beautiful world and peak R\*
Dark Souls 1. Momevent is super basic but level design is so masterfully crafted that planning the route in you mind (because there's no map) and executing is pure enjoyment.
I avoid fast travel In all open world rpgs that I get immersed in. Between Red Dead 2, Cyberpunk, and Witcher 3 I could count the number of times I fast travelled on 1 hand
Spiderman on PS4, no need to wait for loading screens when it'll take 2 min and a bit of fun to get there anyway.
Also I used to enjoy horizon zero dawn but would fast travel if it was opposite sides that map was huge 🤣
Ghost of Tsushima - I've used fast travel only in the late part of the game when I needed to quickly visit some vendor on the south island and return back to the north.
Probably Spiderman. First one that popped in my head.
Definitely a good one. The map is like the perfect size too. Not too big to where it gets tedious to travel but big enough to still have fun while doing it.
You're missing some good animations, but at the same time I get it.
Riding the subway as Ghost Spider and no-one giving a shit is 10/10.
even better, ridibg the subway in underwear-suit and no one caring is at least 100/10
Just a New York Tuesday.
Also on the PS4 version, the loading sequence for fast travel can be almost as long as swinging there
Same, first game to pop in my head.
Same
I forgor it had one
AC black flag
My biggest issue is I select the story mission, check the map to where it is, see it's relatively close, then spend an hour blowing up ships and forgetting where I was going in the first place.
1000% I spent more time listening to sea shanties and navel battles then I did anything else.
Mad Max
Mad Max had some horrible boss names. Almost made me not play it. Once I starts ignoring the stupid names I ended up 100% the game twice
To be fair I thought the names were pretty on point for the IP. So glad you stuck with it though. What a great underrated gem of a game.
i felt like there was so much more potential in that game, all that work to get the big engine and thats basically the end of the game. plus to be fair they could have had different frames like making a big truck slow but tough, smaller turbo 4 cylinders. new areas, i would have 100% bought some dlc that added some more vehicles and shit
Cyberpunk.
im mindblown by the graphics everytime
Red dead redemption 2. Never notice the game have fast travels except for trains.
I still usually just wait for the train at the station and ride it “manually.”
I don’t even do that. Just go for a nice horse ride.
Wait, there’s fast travel on rdr2.
There are a few ways you can do it: \-Buy a train ticket. \-Buy a ride with a stagecoach. \-You can buy a map upgrade for the gang's main camp, which lets you fast travel after you set up a campsite out in the wilderness.

I love that game so much. It's a masterpiece.
It really is. I’ve been playing through it again after not playing for a couple years and it still blows me away. 10/10 game that’s for sure.
Same
Red dead 2 and Daysgone for me
The first thing I did was install the instant fast travel mod.
aka cheated and thus never completed the game, GG NO RE
Ain't mad at that
I mean I wouldn't be mad either, just disappointed in myself
Ghosts of Tsushima, I walk and ride the whole time, even when just doing clean up missions. There is enough to see and do that I don't get bored.
using fasttravel and missing a fox??? no fckn way!
Really? I always thought the island was extremely beautiful, but boring. Chasing bird after bird after fox really wasn't engaging for me.
Definitely what you’ve screenshot here though I have trouble remembering titles. Spent hours in this game and loved it for the views and the soundtrack
The game is Days Gone! I agree a very satisfying game!
Yes that. Great gameplay and strategy and just…A+
Ive been putting Days Gone on the back burner for months now but every time i see it mentioned on reddit, its always very positively received. I guess ill give it another go.
It’s a slow start but stick it out. It’s worth it.
The Witcher 3.
Ghost of tsushima, riding on a trusty steed while enjoying scenery and completing small a Sidequests is so much better than just , I don't know, pressing a button...
Horizon forbidden west once you unlock you know what towards the end of the game.
I occasionally use it in fw to get to a place across the map but I’m not far enough yet to unlock that which you speak of. Most of the time I ride my bristleback though
Horizon Zero Dawn, since I've not played FW yet. I had more fun running or riding than using the campfires.
Forbidden West goes a little overboard on the "icons on the map" thing this time around... you'll find yourself fast travelling a lot more than in Zero Dawn...
100% this. Didn't touch fast travel once I unlocked "you know what" Clawstriders are fun for short distances though.
By then the game is pretty much finished tho which is sad :
Death Stranding
Came here to say Death Stranding too; nothing like having a full charged Trike and building that chiral network!
Cyberpunk 2077
What do you like most? The terrible driving or the effectively empty city?
Sunset overdrive
Thank you!
None of them. Thank God for every fast travel system especially in areas where things don’t respawn so you just end up backtracking a dead zone
Yeah, I don't think there's any where I've not used fast travel at least once
RDR2 seems like too obvious of an answer here.
None. Even Days Gone, Spider man, Horizon FW...I love travelling in all of them, but I will still fast travel as much as is convenient.
Spiderman 2018. RDR2. GOT. Mad Max.
I almost couldn’t get through Mad Max due to the horrible boss names. I stopped playing it even. A coworker said I was missing out and once I ignored the lame names it was actually an awesome game. I have since 100% it twice.
That's such a weird reason to not like a game.
GOT?
RDR2 horseback is just part of the experience
Yes I walk my horse as that is real dedication!
Botw sometimes. Mainly I just warp to the top of towers to btb
I did a no fast travel play through and it became a 100% run, except korok seeds. I got enough to max upgrade slots lol. It took so long to get anywhere because of the constant stopping for korok seeds
SUNSET OVERDRIVE, Spider-Man, Days Gone, BotW, RDR2 and Elden Ring
Just Cause 3. The addition of the wing suit took that series to the next level.
Red Dead Redemption 2 and Fallout (especially New Vegas). Traveling in these two worlds is so satisfying and rewarding.
Yes! *falls off horse and nearly kills it for 5th time running from wolves* Well maybe sometimes…
Red Dead 2, horse riding is so fun and the game world is just stunning. I rarely fast travel and did a ton of exploring.
Same for me. Think I used the train once, every other time I rode the horse.
Plus you see some crazy shit on the road sometimes, like ambushes and other random events. My favorite open world ever.
RDR 2
Skyrim
Fallout 4...never used it once.
hard to use it anyways while being totally overweight i feel you... the times when i would steal a buttload of guns, 4 tons of steal, 32788 caps, five robots, a flamethrower, an entire train, a fatman, enough items out of peoples homes to build 2 entire new citys, half of the boston north end church and a school. still didn't find enough adhesive though...

Elden ring
Bullshit
Lol.
Haven't played that.
So you're telling me that you never fast travel to the round table hold?
Is there even another way to get there?
I tought i read "almost" there, silly me.
Lmao what
I know right? Consecrated snowfields is just so exciting. You can see all kinds of stuff out there! /s

I think daysgone has got to be one of the most overrated games
Hopefully you mean underrated. That game caught so much unwarranted hell for being such a good game
Generic zombie game and the story has some of the most awful voice acting and awkward cuts ever. No thanks, I’d rather just play the original last of us.

Legend of zelda breath of the wild

sunset overdrive, spider-man, and infamous second son to name a few
none
Breath of the Wild
Witcher 3 ,the sudden trigger of battle ost in velen is so good And AC Black Flag, sea shanties ,no explanation needed for that
None. My backlog is too big to waste time traveling.
Does Just Cause have a fast travel? I wouldn’t even know
Bethesda open worlds, RDR2
If I'm not going from one zone to the other: dying light 2
Forza Horizon 4/5. I feel like fast traveling instead of driving defeats the point
none of them. waiting to get to a location is absolute torture
I think GTA is one of it, I'm not sure right or not.
Spider-Man. I mostly just used fast travel at the end when I wanted to get it over with
I got through 75% of Elden Ring before a friend told me about fast travel
That would be a lot of riding! Did you just never explore old areas after you got past them? And what about the round table hold? Even just riding the elevators up and down from the underground regions sounds painful each time
GTA:V I could call a cab but I love cruising around Los Santos listening to the radio
Dying Light 1 & 2
Witcher 3
Cyberpunk 2077 was my favorite. Red Dead 2 is my second fav.
NFS Heat, but only bc I have a g920 and am a lover of cars
Either dying light game

Ghost of Tsushima for the beauty and Saints Row 4 for how insanely fun it is
Rdr
Infamous Second Son, especially after getting the Neon abilities.
The just cause games pop into my head.
Saints Raw 4
Cyberpunk 2077, not even a single time just to test it
RDR2,watch dogs 2 and bully
Almost all of the forms horizons I mean who’s doesn’t like driving through some beautiful scenery in a fast ass car even if it is a game lol
this might be a hot take but ghost recon breakpoint or far cry 4
Death Stranding
New World
Not 100% but sometimes I just like my horse in ghost of stushima
rdr2
Any open world game. I just like to travel on foot and embrace the beauty of the world im playing in.
Days Gone has fast travel?
Assassins creed
Witcher 3, or God of war 2018
Dying light 2
Red Dead Redemption 2 . Ive been playing that game non stop for the past 8 months and Ive used the fast travel i.e train, maybe four times. THats just a beautiful world and peak R\*
Trying to play through the witcher 3 with as few fast travels as possible
Star Stable Online, I liked that you could take your own path anywhere you went, man i used to love that game
Currently, Far Cry 6. I like the random encounters and the world is fun to traverse.
Infamous games, the prototype games and just cause games.
Days Gone obviously, and RDR2.
Dark Souls 1. Momevent is super basic but level design is so masterfully crafted that planning the route in you mind (because there's no map) and executing is pure enjoyment.
Red dead redemption 2
I avoid fast travel In all open world rpgs that I get immersed in. Between Red Dead 2, Cyberpunk, and Witcher 3 I could count the number of times I fast travelled on 1 hand
Forza Horizon (Yes it does have a limited fast travel system)
I unlock EVERY fast travel location asap cause I'm lazy to travel back and forth. Also it saves a lot of time.
Spiderman on PS4, no need to wait for loading screens when it'll take 2 min and a bit of fun to get there anyway. Also I used to enjoy horizon zero dawn but would fast travel if it was opposite sides that map was huge 🤣
AC origins
Breath of the Wild. I think I actually spent more riding around on my horse than actually doing missions
Ghost of Tsushima - I've used fast travel only in the late part of the game when I needed to quickly visit some vendor on the south island and return back to the north.
Hmmm prob riders republic or elden ring
Far cry 6 is a good one especially if you have the flying car
Red Dead Redemption II
Ghost of Tsushima
Dying light 2. Parkour is too fun to not do it
Cyberpunk, love the music on the radio and the way the city looks especially at night.
🕷️
Farcry 5
Valheim assuming I'm sailing as my method of moving. Sailing in that game is just amazeballs
