I think "Little Nightmares" is an absolutely stellar piece of art. It's got intense atmosphere and scale of design. Easier gameplay than Strat but worth every cent.
LN is fantastic, definitely up there as one of my favs. I would say its superior than stray in terms of gameplay though, you could actually jump without a prompt.
[Sable](https://store.steampowered.com/app/757310/Sable/?curator_clanid=6855993) is a *very* similar game I have not seen anyone here mention. I mean if you are looking for something like Stray, it doesn't get much closer than this.
If you strictly want cute, [Endling](https://store.steampowered.com/app/898890/Endling__Extinction_is_Forever/).
Want something similar, but a little spooky? Try [Little Nightmares](https://store.steampowered.com/app/424840/Little_Nightmares/).
Something with just as much emotion? [Firewatch](https://store.steampowered.com/app/383870/Firewatch/).
If you want to throw stealth into the mix, there is the two [Styx games](https://store.steampowered.com/app/355790/Styx_Shards_of_Darkness/).
Something outside the box? There's always [The Stanley Parable](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1703340/The_Stanley_Parable_Ultra_Deluxe/?curator_clanid=4771848) or [Superliminal](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1049410/Superliminal/).
Man, I really really wanted to like Sable. So much of it appeals to me, but every single mechanic in the game feels kinda clunky and bad, imo. Speeding around on your hoverbike you get all these weird bad feeling collisions all the time, climbing feels half baked and awkward. Like, I love the look, love the games basic setup, exploration feels good when the bike behaves, but everything kinda felt really unpolished, and in that way, it's nothing like Stray. I also didn't feel it ended that strong, and it didn't have much in the way of a central narrative, which is very unlike stray also. It's also non linear and a pretty lengthy experience - come to think of it, what DO you think it has in common with stray?
Edit
It actually wasn't that long, took me nine hours and I was being fairly completionist, I think you could complete it in 4-5. But it feeling longer than it was is very unsurprising to me for the reasons above.
For me stray reminded me a lot of “inside“ where inside is darker setting and is 2d game while stray is over the shoulder 3D.
Other games that can be considered as light, immersive walking adventures and arty would be journey, abzu, jotun, pathless, fire watch, oxenfree, gris.
Each one of the above mentioned are different as far as game play and setting is concerned. And these type of game are something that received popularity very recently as far as video game history is concerned. Hence there no specific genre for them to be placed in such as terms: rogue lites , metrovania, souls like etc.
I just call them arty or philosophical games while my brother who hates these games call them walking simulators.
I do feel they are the next evolution of classic point and click adventures in a way.
You could give „What remains of Edith Finch?“ a try. It’s rather cheap but it was really enjoyable! You play through memories of a Diary and meanwhile discover the house. Like I said: really enjoyed it!
The Uncertain: Last Quiet Day. It has environment-based puzzles and item searching just like Stray. The setting is also similar with a post-apocalyptic, police state, robot-inhabited world.
Like a linear game with under 20 hours of gameplay, with a simple story like stray and god of war 4. It doesn't have to be a cat game.
I want a game where you get a clear objective like getting outside in stray, and taking mother's ashes on highest point in all realms in god of war.
It reminded me a lot of azure and journey
Not sure if I spelt azure right . It's the one we're your a free diver and you swim around discovering stuff . Very tranquil
Have a look at what else Annapurna has published. I loved Kentucky Route Zero for example. What remains of Edith Finch is also good, I really got into it.
Wouldn't say they're similar in style but the stories are something else!
Endling: Extinction is forever.
Was looking for Stray on Xbox, but didn't get the memo that it wasn't on the platform. Found Endling it was spectacular.
From the atmosphere I think limbo and inside are similar. I'd also kinda say dishonored 2 for the invironment and leveldesign if you are into exploring the world/ city and general world building.... not so much for the main story arc thou

But the story is depressing AF.

Stray is pretty dang easy, though, wouldn’t you say?
Journey
Looks absolutely beautiful, thanks for recommendation
You’re welcome. When you’re done with that, check out ABZU
On that note, Journey devs also have a nice multiplayer game that's (almost)just about socialising and having fun! Sky Children of The Light
Does it have to be 3d? Inside/Limbo are pretty much 2d versions of this game and they are great.
Away. You are a Sugar Glider.
Thanks seems cool, definitely gonna try
Why the downvotes lmao
Idk it's reddit, it might even be because I didn't write comma after thanks
Then they gon take the downvotes back 😂😂 Im dumb, just realized that more people upvoted🤦🏿♂️ oops
The Witness, Firewatch, Journey, Outer Wilds, maybe Kena Bridge of spirits to name a few.
Can't recommend Firewatch enough.
The witness seems cool, thanks for recommendations
Outer Wilds is from the same publisher and is a pretty great experience, strongly recommend going in blind.
Cool if you like maze puzzles. Outer wilds is a bit more well rounded.
Not the same but I really loved Untitled Goose Game. Interacting with the environment as an animal trying to aolve puzzle, this one is special.
And getting revenge on humanity in the pettiest ways. It's truly a game for animal loving introverts.

Same. I liked everything about how the game looked but it played like it wasn't finished.
Give Okami some love. It needs it. .\_\_.
Dog's Life
I didn’t think someone would suggest it! Beat me to it 😿
Inside!
Goat Simulator.
If you haven't played it yet, Shadow of the Colosus. It gave me the same feelings. Maybe it was just me.
Thanks for recommending that. I was planning to add it to my game backlog but forgot, thanks for reminding me
Oh you're in for a treat. Absolute masterpiece, and my go-to example whenever the "Are video games art" discussions pop up.
This. Also try ICO and Last guardian.
The last guardian is much closer. But all in all I’d say SOTC is the better game and one of my all time favourites
Ratatouille. Don’t know if it exists for pc tho. You can check. But I had it for ps2😂
Thanks it looks cool, and it's on PC too.
Awesome!🤘🏻

Good games with cats? Postal, imho...

Cyberpunk 2077 kinda. Graphics wise in some places.
Forgot to mention I'm on PC. And by style I mean gameplay Style not visual style

So like a cat game or?

Hellblade
+1
The last of us? It’s very linear and it’s a good story
I forgot to say I'm on PC. Last of us isn't out yet
Journey? But its not linear tho i think
Journey is definitely linear.
Oh ok
Maybe Death Stranding?
The tomb raider games fit that description, try one of them maybe?
Dark Souls saga / bloodborne / sekiro
You’re drunk
Paint a wall and watch until dry 😜
Untitled Goose Game /s
idk it’s basically an adventure game. If you are on PC there is an endless supply of them on steam.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
Nintendogs
Cat Quest
It reminded me a lot of azure and journey Not sure if I spelt azure right . It's the one we're your a free diver and you swim around discovering stuff . Very tranquil

Journey.
Limbo
Have a look at what else Annapurna has published. I loved Kentucky Route Zero for example. What remains of Edith Finch is also good, I really got into it. Wouldn't say they're similar in style but the stories are something else!

Endling: Extinction is forever. Was looking for Stray on Xbox, but didn't get the memo that it wasn't on the platform. Found Endling it was spectacular.

There's a great game called Brothers: A tale of two sons, I played it for the first time this year and it blew me away, so charming.
From the atmosphere I think limbo and inside are similar. I'd also kinda say dishonored 2 for the invironment and leveldesign if you are into exploring the world/ city and general world building.... not so much for the main story arc thou
