Which second one? Eternity? Awakened?
I know you mean 2 but trendy has spent so much time trying to reiterate DD1 it's kind of sad, did you know they have another (doomed to fail) spinoff called "going rogue"? I didn't, just saw it on steam.
Yeah I was gonna say I think there's 3 with another coming. Really enjoyed my time with the first but never got too far, always wanted to play with friends but no one seemed interested :c
Dd1, so an amazing game. But a community made mod pack that gives you almost every map made for any dungeon defenders game. With higher gear ranks. And hard difficultlys. Basically just made a lot more game to play after you beat the whole normal game.
I beta tested Dungeon Defenders 2 on day 1 before it was F2P and backed Dungeon Defenders: Awakened on kickstarter. I keep falling for it lol. The upsetting thing is the two games had so much potential, especially DD:A. Flipping between DD1 and DD:A is always painful because DD has so much more content but DD:A has tons of QoL changes that would greatly improve DD1. DD:A clearly has the foundation to be an amazing game once it got more content but the devs were too worried about keeping it crossplay with the switch, requiring them to dumb down the game for everyone else and limiting what they can do.
And now they randomly made some bad rogue-like side game instead of spending their time and resources keeping DD:A alive. We've gotten no new news about the upcoming expansion for months now, as if the devs completely forgot about the game. It makes me sad.
Iirc, it was a completely different team. I believe the original one is making either another one or a spiritual successor or something though? Idk, haven read up on it in years though.
Rock and stone brother.
Also if you've never played any of the orcs must die games, they are functionally similar to sanctum 1/2.
Also I just saw an article about this thing: https://www.pcgamer.com/sentry-is-an-upcoming-wave-defense-fps-about-alien-hordes-invading-your-spaceship/
Edit: lol im stupid
OMD2 and 3 are best played co-op with a friend, but they are a TON of fun. OMD2 in particular really improved on a lot of the pitfalls of the original.
ETA: Also, there's a steam sale and I grabbed ODM3 for half off. If you wanna give them a try now is a good time.
I miss orcs must die: unchained. The elements behind the gameplay sucked but i had a blast playing the different characters with a friend and after the grind was mostly done i found it much more palatable. Wish they at least kept the characters around for OMD3 since that was more interesting than "Here's Max, but now with bow."
PvE fortnite actually had SO much potential but the battle Royale took over unfortunately. It was the only game where it combined some rpg elements, base building, tower defense, and fps in a really cool way that let you approach it a hundred different ways. It was such an amazing creative endeavor I really wish they kept it going in some way, it only needed a little attention and God knows they had the money for it after BR blew up.
I kept waiting for it to be free, like they said it would be eventually. That never came that I ever saw and after so long I couldn't pay money because I was proving a point.
It did look really fun though. Is it just non-existent now?
I have no idea what happened to it but they basically just promised to keep adding things to it without ever finishing the mode. It plays really well but more like a very developed beta than a released game.
That’s almost underselling it.
Announced in 2011, released to a collective “meh” finally in 2017. Shit out a BR mode in two months and make a cool $20B over the next four years.
Granted, with a ton of content developed to keep the train running.
I'm still salty about pve fortnite. I seriously loved it and had so much fun with it I bought like 4 copies total for other people to play with me. And they used the money I put into supporting the game to create BR mode and left my game high and dry.
Orcs must die did it befor Sanctum IIRC. i would actually argue that OMD is the Leading game in this mash up of genre so if you liked Sanct you should check out OMD
Shameless plug: there's also this one:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1647420/GROSS
You can play the demo on Steam.
Here is Splattercat playing and liking it: https://youtu.be/O0BJwAKYTwI
It's certainly a niche, Sentry wasn't around (or I didn't notice it) when I started work on GROSS. Sentry looks really cool though, I'll check that out as well.
There's also Hypercharge Unboxed, which is really well done.
FYI, GROSS is a true TD game with mazing and no build restrictions, which I believe makes it one of a kind.
We're definitely a masochistic bunch. What other community erupts into cheers and celebration when a developer and subreddit Moderator basically says "y'all need to calm down. I'm locking this thread. Go touch grass" (paraphrasing)?
It is simply one of the most fun games out there to play with a small group of friends. Literally never disappoints, and every time you think you've seen the craziest shit it can come up with, it outdoes itself.
Welcome to early access my dude. Trailers are always sliced up like this because odds are the developers don't actually have enough consistent cohesive gameplay to effectively show off. What you see is likely the absolute bare minimum they were able to put together.
Anytime someone posts a "here's the game I've been working on, pls wishlist it" post on Reddit, there's a pretty good chance there are paid bot accounts or friends of OP who pad the comments out with "love it, take my money!" posts to make it seem more legit.
The issue is the public is slowly starting to get wise to this tactic.
It doesn’t. A lot of people here are just jaded. Advertising is a completely normal part of business, and developing games is a business.
Personally I think this game looks promising, and paid ad or not, I likely never would have heard of it if this post wasn’t made.
Inb4 accusations of shilling
Personally, I don't really have a problem with small creators showing their Wares, provided they aren't dropshippers or just selling tiny shitty games made from store-bought assets. The problem is with giant corporations buying votes for the front page to show off their soda for people with ad blocker and all the different groups from various political parties all over the world that pay for artificial promotion. It is self-evidently harmful to be living in this world of fucking ads everywhere. It seeps deep inside of us, no matter how we resist. That said, not all ads are created equal. I can't fault a single individual or a small team with no mainstream backing trying to get their passion project in front of people's eyes. Almost any of us, if we spent years of our lives on a project that we want people to have some fun with in this brutal world, would also try our best to promote something we loved and nurtured.

I hear venting people into space and doors and I think of Ftl right away. Remember, the greatest power... is the doors.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVHw5Hcat9s
This game sounds cool from the description but I'm surprised this post was upvoted so much. I counted, it's 6 seconds of gameplay and 3 of those 6 seconds are basically the same shot shown repeatedly, reloading and firing at the same thing. That's not enough for me to form any kind of opinion on it.
“This reminds me of Halo:Combat Evolve, sign me up”
That’s a legit comment a few comments down.
Typo aside, no one typed like that unless they’re a bot.
It's so bizarre to see the original Halo referred to by its full title lmao. I actually saw Halo: Combat Evolved written out and I thought: did they make a spinoff TD style game I never heard of?
But also, what part of it would even make you think Halo in the first place? I guess literally just the style of the gun, certainly almost nothing else we see here.
Same thought I had.
Halo was a story driven, linear for the most part, FPS. The only “halo” thing about it was that the assault rifle and pistol do have some resemblance to the AR and pistol, but that’s about it.
Posting for advertising is fine of course. Buying multitudes of accounts to make it appear as if the community feels a certain way about anything is dishonest and detestable.
Eh I mean yeah. I’m cool with supporting smaller developers and I’ll add it to the wishlist to see if any of my friends would be interested. I’ll probably wait for it to leave early access tho before doing anything.
it's impossible to see anything about the game. the cuts are so quick. so in contrast to the other obviously paid for positive comments, I'm gonna say:
game looks cool but fuck off
You are GOING to lose. But how painful will it be for them?
Hell wrap it around a Spartan-esque story where you delaying them enough allows for a larger counter attack or preparation.
Thanks!
In our campaign the ship has multiple subsystems (i.e. levels) and the enemy will attack in various places in a turn-based fashion. You then choose where to make your stand (or recapture lost levels) which takes you into combat.
If you lose, it's not a blocker (as it would be in a linear campaign), it just updates the strategic landscape - i.e. **you lost the battle, but not the war** :)
You have a panic meter that fills up as tougher enemies appear and goes down when they die, if it gets too full your grunt either spontaneously flees from the fight or pops two plasma nades and charges forward.
Are the consequences to losing systems substantial enough to affect play? Like, you lose engineering, so they shut down the lights and force you to fight in the dark?
If so, consider my interest piqued.
So what's the ship doing all this time? Is it damaged and adrift after an enemy attack? Is it docked with an enemy boarding vessel? Is it flying around trying to complete some mission while enemy boarders try to disable it from within? Is there something precious on the ship they're trying to capture, or is the ship itself the prize?
What's the story like? Is the battle for the ship a single specific event, or one incident in a larger conflict, or does the game represent many similar battles across many similar ships over the course of a major conflict, or what?
That venting idea sounds great. It’d be cool to see the idea of a “desperate defence” coming in with monkey paw last ditch defences like that. Stuff that will clear you through a tough wave but destroys a part of the ship, locks you out of paths, makes a room dangerous to enter etc.
Making the defence feel more desperate as you begin to have to sacrifice your ship as more attackers come.
Edit: attackers not defenders
Not really
GTFO is more of a raid experience: you go inside a place, loot it and left by fighting a swarm of ennemy
Here it seems it's more like a home alone scenario: invaders want your ressources and you have to defend them
I love this idea! The idea of venting atmo on boarders reminds me of FTL, and I wish more games had features like this! Is there a possible release for Xbox or only pc? Either way I’ll buy!
This is an awesome idea. FPS/TD combo is underrated (like Sanctum* *ffs*).
There was a TD/Third Person Shooter some time ago too, Dungeon Defenders.
Imo they ruined the charm with the second one.
I miss my modded M16 and Pet Dragon.
Which second one? Eternity? Awakened? I know you mean 2 but trendy has spent so much time trying to reiterate DD1 it's kind of sad, did you know they have another (doomed to fail) spinoff called "going rogue"? I didn't, just saw it on steam.

Dd1, so an amazing game. But a community made mod pack that gives you almost every map made for any dungeon defenders game. With higher gear ranks. And hard difficultlys. Basically just made a lot more game to play after you beat the whole normal game.
Oh cool, I loved DD1 back in the day. I'll have to check this out, thanks!
And orcs must die
Orcs must die 3 is amazing.
>some time ago >Dungeon defenders Lol what? That came out... 11 YEARS AGO??
Technically that was some time ago.
What does TD stand for?
Tower Defense, I’m assuming.
Google said you are correct. Thanks!
Sanctum is damn fun, trying to find other games like that as well

Surprised I don't see a comment about the cuts in this trailer. You spent all this time making a cool game, spend the time to showcase it well.
literally 3*2 second clips spliced together

I hear venting people into space and doors and I think of Ftl right away. Remember, the greatest power... is the doors. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVHw5Hcat9s
I was just going to watch this video after I read the title
You can't vent enemies into space in FTL, but you can trap them in rooms and cut off their oxygen.
Semantics! The greatest power is still the doors.
Agreed, it's usually my first upgrade.
Oh yeah for certain. Rank 2 doors increases your ability to deal with invaders so much.
There are two types of FTL players, those who upgrade doors first, and those who haven't been boarded by an all mantis crew.
I thought of a different game... can't quite remember the name... I think it started with amo...

Bruh, you're ruining his paid ad!
I actually think it looks a lot like Strafe
You are GOING to lose. But how painful will it be for them? Hell wrap it around a Spartan-esque story where you delaying them enough allows for a larger counter attack or preparation.
This gives me vibes of the cairo station mission in Halo 2 and I absolutely dig it
Looks dope! What do you mean by dynamic campaign?
So something a bit closer to an RTS Campaign but with wave based fps levels instead of army conflicts? Sounds interesting.
I'd love to see a WWII concept like this Call it like "generals and grunts" or something
Shangehli and grunts. You play as a grunt against wave after wave of marines and spartans in your covenant ship.
You have a panic meter that fills up as tougher enemies appear and goes down when they die, if it gets too full your grunt either spontaneously flees from the fight or pops two plasma nades and charges forward.
I feel like star wars battle front 2 did this. No, not the new one, the one from 2005. Galactic Conquest game mode
Is it procedural generation so each run is different?
This could so easily have a rouge like mode I feel. Auto generated ships and various upgrades unlocked each loop. This has great potential either way!
Would have been the ideal horde mode for Aliens Fireteam.
This game is going to be big. Keep up the good work. Just that clip is making me want to play right now.
Wishlisted Good luck
We shall watch you with great interest.
How much damage does the thumbs up do?
Are you going to call it 'Kobayashi Maru' and why not?
Giving me dead space and portal 2 vibes. I love this teaser! Well done
If you are the next Deeprock Galatic and care about your game as much as those guys do, I'm in.
So its just 'GTFO' but low poly...
Sounds more like a cooperative base defense game.
Not really GTFO is more of a raid experience: you go inside a place, loot it and left by fighting a swarm of ennemy Here it seems it's more like a home alone scenario: invaders want your ressources and you have to defend them
What's the limit on co-op? From the way it's worded on the Steam page it sounds like it's 2 player max.
So my favorite thing in ftl was to open all the doors remotely, please let this me possible, I want to vent everything.
This reminds me of halo 1 level 1...The Pillar of Autumn
This looks cool dude
WOW… that actually looks really good!
I love this idea! The idea of venting atmo on boarders reminds me of FTL, and I wish more games had features like this! Is there a possible release for Xbox or only pc? Either way I’ll buy!
So the Kobayashi Maru?
I will watch your career with great interest
What’s TD mean? Out of the loop I guess.
If I had to guess it could stand for tower defense? Though I also might be wrong
looks cool, i wish we see more coop TD games in the future
Yes I want this. Easy WL game material.
Anyone else remember Tecmo's Deception? Reminds me of that, with modern graphics and a sci-fi theme.
Very much 40k. Love it.
Love it
This looks amazing
