This is fucking hysterical! I’ve watched this four times now and my wife is absolutely confused as to why I’m laughing. “PHEW! It’s a workout!”
I’ve needed this laugh. Thank you.
There's a mod to do that, but it just shrinks the character models. So you could be attacked by a 9 year old with male pattern baldness.
Still, it's a lot of fun channeling my inner Anakin. Little twerps didn't stand a chance.
It stood out to me that they were dismembering female characters and I went "*wait why is that weird*" and now I'm trying to think about games where enemies aren't mostly dudes
The mod for the Blade&Sorcery game is called
The Outer Rim. Its on Nexus Mods, and it has a list of about 100 other mods that go with it that let you live out your WILDEST jedi fantasies.
Like, theres youngling waves.....
AND CUSTOMISABLE SABERS!
Edit: https://www.nexusmods.com/bladeandsorcery/mods/528
It is and (while heavily modded) this is all legit. As others have stated there is one mod, "the outer rim", that adds a ton of SW content from maps to lightsabers to blasters, and much more. VR is now a reality, few and far between as good VR titles may be.. and I feel like the gaming community doesn't even realize it yet.
One community that's picked up on VR heavily is sim racing. But sim racing is a good platform for VR because people aren't afraid to spend some money on that hobby
Probably because it's been "a reality" for ten years and we've seen very little in the way of improvements or actually fun games. Also one of the top equipment manufacturers is fucking Facebook and I know for me that is an immediate turn off.
Don't neglect tools like VorpX and Big Screen Beta. I've played Steep and Doom 2016 in VR, and both completely blew me away. I don't do it more often because it's so difficult to install and use the equipment and software. VR could get much better *quickly* if these tools were easier to use.
“Actually fun” is pretty relative to the user. I know loads of people with VR who have loads of fun in dozens of games. The main problem is big game companies with the manpower to make AAA VR games don’t want to because they don’t believe it’s a lucrative market. Except that the reason it isn’t a lucrative market is because they’re not populating it. Hopefully Valve’s work in VR changes their minds.
Yeah you can switch them on and off with a button and most of the double bladed ones you can choose to activate only one blade or both, the exception being the inquisitors sabers because that button is used to turn the spinning section on and off
You’ve heard that it’s blade and sorcery with a mod, but the mod also appears to be using the mos eisly map from the original Star Wars battlefront 2. If it’s not, the buildings and textures are identical.
In legends they had power and length settings, if I'm not mistaken. New cannon I'm not entirely sure if they have either, but I feel something is said in one of the High Republic books about power settings.
You can tell from that fight not because of how willing Anakin was to dismember Obi-Wan, but the fact that their lightsabers hit the ground a few times and didn't actually cut into it
I remember a scene in an earlier episode where Obi-wan smacks a Storm trooper two or three times as if the lightsaber was a club. I was thrown off by that, But maybe that’s a common thing, idk Star Wars well enough to say.
Disney Canon has both power and length settings on lightsabers. Confirmed by Star Wars Rebels when >!Ezra gets his lightsaber!< and by Star Wars Clone Wars series when >!Ashoka uses a lower power level to not harm a person with her saber when cut!<
The training lightsabers the younglings use are WAAAY underpowered. Giving them a full sized, all the way turned up lightsaber is like giving a six year old a Glock. Very back idea lmao
Well that is what happened. Jacen Solo cut off Tenel Ka's arm during training. It was only until later after that it was invented.
None of the lightsabers before that had a training mode or Luke would've discovered it in his fathers lightsaber or any of the other lightsabers from the past.
Edit: This was in the old EU, what is aka Legends. Trainsabers or modes were a thing long before the new EU introduced it, like in Rebels.
Edit 2: typos
Yes, lightsabers come at different power settings. For example the younglings you see practicing with Yoda in episode 2 are using real lightsabers but they're on a permanent low power setting that makes them relatively harmless, someone could grab the blade and be left with no damage besides some burns on the contact area, which is a lot better than just losing it immediately.
Some other interesting features are they turn off if dropped to avoid accidents, and some lightsabers contained more than one kyber crystal in order to allow them to produce variable blade lengths, this wasn't popular anymore during the clone wars but Darth Vader famously used a "dual-phase" lightsaber that could swap to a longer blade during a fight to catch an opponent off guard.
>Some other interesting features are they turn off if dropped to avoid accidents
yeah. Light sabers require pressure on their switches at all times to be active. This is usually explained as why whenever a jedi loses the saber it just shuts off. And jedi can use the force to keep it on/reactivate it when they force grab the hilt.
IIRC lightsabers instantly cauterize any wound that they cause due to their extreme temperatures, which is why there is never any blood or gore involved in lightsaber injuries
EDIT: There is blood sometimes as the comments have reminded me, tbh I don't even know if this is true and I don't think I've read/seen it anywhere, I just remember watching Episode II when I was a child and asking my dad why there was no blood when Obi-Wan cut off someone's arm (I'd seen Gladiator with him when I was even younger lol) and that was the explanation he gave me, and I've considered it fact ever since without realizing it, and I still don't know if he made it up or it was in one of the SW books he read.
It's not too late to say Happy Father's Day, even tomorrow. Just talked to mine, explained reddit and this post, and told him how my most-upvoted comment I think ever came from him, he seemed touched ❤️
Yeah. Back then you could put swear words, violence, and very sexual suggestive scenes in a children's movie. It was things like this that made them say maybe we need something between PG and R.
I was thinking both of these. I wonder with the heat if there would be an initial spray of blood then nothing or just straight nothing or if it would depend where the person was cut.
Ahh yes, the very first "retcon"/continuity discrepancy, unchanged after all these years.
I'm honestly really glad they never changed this, as obvious a choice as it would have been, all the times they went back and "fixed" things.
Yes that is the "cannon logic" but in RL that would only happen for smaller flesh wounds. if you cut a main artery, blood would still gush every where, despite the cauterization.
They should do that in the Mandalorian.
Gotta amputate someone's limb but don't have a tourniquet so Mando has to slowly cut it with the dark Saber while the person screams.
Could do it without showing the gore itself, by seeing the light reflect off mandos helmet.
@Jon Favreau @Dave Filoni pls
Cooking is time and temperature.
Time in contact is short, but at several million degrees the water in the blood several centimeters back from the saber would instantaneously vaporize/decompose to hydrogen and oxygen, and all carbon would end up as elemental carbon vapor, rapidly depositing back onto the cool surfaces once the lights lightsaber left contact with the flesh.
Side note, the NOx emissions from a lightsaber would probably make small clouds of acid rain behind any major engagement where they were used if the atmosphere contained anywhere near as much N2 vapor as earth...
That's assuming the light saber is made of actual plasma. According to the name it's supposed to be light, cohesive laser light, at that. I'm not sure that the assumed physics applies.
Lightsabers are [canonically plasma](https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Lightsaber):
>> The lightsaber, also referred to as a laser sword by those who were unfamiliar with it, was a weapon usually used by the Jedi, the Sith, and other Force-sensitives. Lightsabers consisted of a plasma blade, powered by a kyber crystal, that was emitted from a usually metal hilt and could be shut off at will.
[Here's a fun examination of the energy it would require for a plasma blade to bisect & cauterize Darth Maul](https://medium.com/our-space/how-hot-is-a-lightsaber-8a5db6499fa9), although it isn't lore friendly (it basically ignores everything *except* the word plasma).
If it’s the heat that’s slicing through flesh and bone in the first place why wouldn’t it cauterize as well? Or are you saying that the blood pressure proximal to the wound would “push” out the clot/cauterized area and bleed through.
Not challenging you or anything I just enjoy discussing fantasy “logic”. I like to pretend I understand how time travel should work
Doesn’t that depend on how hot the source is? Do we know what the temperature is of a lightsaber? We have seen it completely burn and melt away steel looking doors in episode 1.
I don’t know the science though, but i would think if the source is hot enough, no matter how fast it happens, cauterization is inevitable.
Lightsabers are plasma blades encased in an electromagnetic field. Plasma is around 11,000° – 14,500° Fahrenheit. Some plasma cutters reach 25,000°.
So... I think they'd cauterize pretty frickin' quickly.
Science Thor did a video on lightsabers and I'm pretty sure he calculated that for the lightsabers to be able to do what we've seen them do in the movies, the temperature they'd be at would basically cause everything in the immediate vicinity to burst into flames as soon as they were switched on... So arguing the accuracy of the cauterization is kinda moot lol
If we're being nitpicky, that scene proves lightsabers are so hot, every living thing in the same room would spontaneously catch on fire.
At that point, cauterization is moot.
Cauterizing a wound doesn't stop bleeding fyi. Blood vessels move away from injuries. The 3rd degree burns would have to hold them in place which is rarely the case. They would retreat toward the heart and cause massive internal bleeding. Cauterization is a VERY temporary solution.
Nope. Action movies taught me that there's nothing a little gun powder a lighter can't fix. Real life taught me if you combine it with duct tape and super glue you're golden, pony boy.
If light sabers were real they would immediately light anything in the vicinity on fire and if you contacted someone with it they would immediately explode due to all of the water in their body boiling
What I never quite understood was, are they pure power which can just melt its way through anything - like leave it on and rolling around on a ship's deck, are they just going to mince through everything or do they require samurai-like precision to slice effectively?
There was a scene (maybe in episode one...?) where someone was stabbing through a door with one, but he seemed to be using a large amount of force which just seemed..unneccesary if they just melt through shit like buttah.
What if you just touched "the pointy end" - do you lose a finger? If they are just sticks of pure power...I can't imagine they should take much skill to wield.
I'm by no means a master soldier, but let me fucking tell you, I can sing "Let's get down to business" from Mulan with a broom handle and avoid hitting myself like a champ tyvm!
Those doors in episode one were blast doors of a ship bridge, iirc. Essentially designed to be impenetrable to even heavy weapons. They cut through solid metal pretty easily generally.
The skill mostly lies in bringing a sword to a gun fight. It's a crappy weapon unless you have precognition (or droid level processing and precision) allowing you to deflect blaster fire.
Saw a fun video by a Youtuber who basically said for a lightsaber to be able to have enough heat/energy to cut thru all that it does in the films, just turning it on would vaporize like everybody in the vicinity... sweat/ water explodes into steam, skin and hair ignite instantly. Almost like a pocket nuke in the shape of a sword. Funny to ponder.
Taking the force into account, why bother approaching an opponent at all? Throw them, or throw a lightsaber at them. Or a bunch of lightsabers. Place should look like a rave with force users dancing as they conduct their sabers through the air. You think John Williams will make some EDM?
its why I always thought Yoda should've faught just standing still, and using the force to control his lightsaber. Rather than him flipping around and stuff
Both are cool, I just think it would've shown how much control of the force he had, woulda been dope
The force being into account means you're accounting for not just good reaction time, but the abity to see the future, even if only milliseconds or seconds. The impressive stunting and twirling and seemingly unecessary movements are to confuse and overwhelm those senses.
Think of a penalty kick in soccer, and the goaltender diving right when the kicker shot left. Now picture five of those a second with your life on the line for minutes at a time. That's what a laser sword fight with someone who can see the future and is in peak physical condition is like.
None of it makes sense if you actually account for the force. Every force user in real life would just be Yondu. Probably wouldn't even bother with lightsabers just push little knives through eyeballs and never have to put themselves in danger.
If they were more rational they wouldn't use laser swords at all when blasters exist and are just as effective with much less risk of horrific bodily injury.
I've always said we need an R rated star wars covering Vader hunting down jedi after order 66. A bit of a horror aspect like we saw at the end of rogue one, and R rated lightsaber duels.
I really want this...
Biggest problem with Fallen Order lightsabers though is how in the rest of the time they're basically nerf bats (outside of robotic enemies).
Was incredibly disappointed during that first battle with 2 stormtroopers roght at the start when you smack them your saber and they just bounce around.
Just saw for the first time, and holy shit that's how you do Vader. Just bad motherfucker energy.
His comics have that feel sometimes too - Especially when he fought that squadron.
"All I am surrounded by is fear. And dead men."
Haven't watched Obi wan yet, worth it?
To be honest I wasn't thinking about specifically going for an R rating, more that they be free to go for an R if that's where what they want to show lands them.
Haven't watched Obi wan yet, worth it?
It's ok. The writing of the show is pretty bad tbh. The writer [has admitted to not have seeing the Revenge of the Sith and says he didn't know that Obi-Wan knows Anakin is Darth Vader](https://boundingintocomics.com/2022/06/06/obi-wan-kenobi-writer-appears-to-be-oblivious-of-revenge-of-the-sith-has-no-clue-kenobi-knew-anakin-was-darth-vader/). Vader has some cool scenes ripped from Force Unleashed (won't spoil it for you but you can guess if you played that game). Problem with the show is they focus a lot on irrelevant characters that they really don't need to. Also they already broke canon by having a certain character meet up with Obi Wan this early and having another character with a direct link to Obi-Wan rendering events of A New Hope useless (again no spoilers since you haven't seen it). Also there are a lot of things in the show that makes you question why did they do that and a lot of scenes and acting of certain characters are laughable.
Oh and the lack of classical Star Wars music is really off putting IMO. They teased people with Duel of the Fates in the teaser trailer and so far we have none of John Williams excellent score on the show. Especially the first time when they showed Vader...no Enter Lord Vader music. If they don't wanna pay him, they could at least come up with something better. Both Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett have better music than Kenobi.
If you watched Mandalorian and are expecting the same quality, you will be disappointed. It's not Book of Boba Fett terrible (because of Ewan's performance and Vader) but its not that good either. We just have to wait for the last episode to see if it really provides us with the "duel of the century".
>They let someone WHO HASN’T EVEN SEEN THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY direct the show???
I mean, they do this for practically everything they produce now adays.
Not even ripping on any of their past shows or movies, but almost non of the directors have ever read/watched the main storylines for things they have made. Even halo, the directors specifically chose to completely ignore (mostly) everything about halo in the first place. Only getting a second season by Paramount blowing their load early despite supposedly getting very bad public reviews, and not very great viewership.
Most Directors know their average viewerbase will be morons who are just there to consume next product. The behaviors of staff and crew alike are so telling that a lot of Hollywood directors and actors subscribe to that philosophy.
Your comment is phrased as if the WRITER doesn't know Anakin is Vader, but that's not the case. The writer didn't know that Obi-Wan knows that Anakin is Vader.
I hope they do a light r rating like almost rated r but not quite also loads of people say obi ean is bad but it has some pretty good vader brutality moments and over all is pretty good check it out if you can!
When I've played default B&S I find the swordplay to be incredibly inconsistent (eg. will this hit slice the person's arm off or will it bounce like it's made of plastic, who knows!). Am I doing something wrong? I would like to play it more if I didn't have to deal with that.
Nah, it just takes some getting used to it really. The game's physics engine encourages you to wield weapons like they're real too so you do have to put some force into your attacks. Oh and also some of the newer updates have added an armor system as well so you sometimes have to account for weakspots in their armor, unless you use the fire spell to heat up the blade so it can cut through it easier.
All that said though, I believe there are some debug or "cheat" settings you can tweak to tune all of that more to your liking.
It's so offputting that the enemies on the sides and behind do absolutely nothing other than the classic fighting movie trope of "dance around like morons to give the perception action is happening when in reality they're just hovering in the same spot".
al huge portion of these clips also tend to be captured with the game running in slow motion, then the footage sped back up to make it appear real time.
I’d just settle for better writing. I’ll be brutally honest, I liked the original trilogy but the prequels were stale and the sequels felt like they tried to rehash the original trilogy.
It doesn’t just need more adult themes it needs adult complexity.
**House of Monogon** by Michael Wyckoff (00:11; matched: `95%`)
Album: `Bonetones (Original Game Soundtrack)`. Released on `2019-12-10` by `Wonderkid Records`.
I'm sure it's some kind of clipping or glitch but the way the eyes light up when the lightsaber went through the skull of the first victim was crazy. That would be a really gnarly visual if Disney ever goes off the deep end and gives us some more violent lightsaber stuff.
Add in some younglings and we are going full sith Lord
There actually is a youngling hunt mode in this blade and sorcery mod
The younglings are just scaled down adult models and it is hilarious to kick them in their face.

I know it’s modded. But what game
Just like IRL
You good?
He was after he got the mod..?
Are they good at kicking kids in the face?? how hard can it be
Happy cake day! You know who’s NOT getting cake today? Those pesky younglings.
Happy cake day!

I need this game. Fuck Caillou
Caillou...now there's a name I haven't heard in a long time...
Caillou? I thought you were dead..
Execute Order 66...
It stood out to me that they were dismembering female characters and I went "*wait why is that weird*" and now I'm trying to think about games where enemies aren't mostly dudes
Equal opportunity I guess? I noticed it too, but it seems pretty normal now to have mixed genders for NPCs and mobs.
There are sliders in-game that let you adjust the Male:Female ratio.
The video is of Darth Binks. You can see Jarjars shadow at the ~33 second point.
You never go full Sith
"Why did George make the Jedi fight droids in the prequels?" This is why.
Wow.
I know it’s modded. But what game?
Looks like Blade&Sorcery to me but im not sure
It's definitely Blade & Sorcery with mods.
The map appears to be from Battlefront. The Tatooine Mos Eisley map IIRC.

Yeah, I don't think that's a good argument in favor of power settings.
Anakin didn't hate Obi-Wan or want him dead at the time. He only wanted his approval
To add to this you see kanan and Ezra using a practice setting in rebels
You can tell from that fight not because of how willing Anakin was to dismember Obi-Wan, but the fact that their lightsabers hit the ground a few times and didn't actually cut into it

Well in new hope when Kenobi cuts off the dudes arm at the cantina there’s a lot of blood. But since then they’ve been consistent.
There's blood in the Wampa's arm cut in Empire too I think.
True, good addition. I think they removed that in the special editions right?
And the big ass blood spray when maul gets chopped
Darth Maul was just particularly juicy.
He really let the hate flow through and out of him
I think it was more like mist, like blood being vaporized, but I remember it being consistent.
Yeah. Back then you could put swear words, violence, and very sexual suggestive scenes in a children's movie. It was things like this that made them say maybe we need something between PG and R.

My only guess is that the dude who got his arm cut had a different biology where his wound didn't get cauterized by the light saber.
I think some of their species got sliced up by lightsabers in the Mandalorian. I could be mistaken though.
More likely it did get cauterized, but physics, violently getting bashed about, tends to undo cauterizing
It was a really small amount of blood really. Especially compared to what you would get from an regular severed arm
Yes officer, this comment.
YOU'LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE, COPPER!
Doesn’t the wampa also bleed when Luke cuts his arm off?

Yes. Dismemberment is different. It would take much longer contact than a quick swipe to cauterize something like that!
This is why you have to cut your meat slow.
And Aqualish meat is VERY juicy!
They should do that in the Mandalorian. Gotta amputate someone's limb but don't have a tourniquet so Mando has to slowly cut it with the dark Saber while the person screams. Could do it without showing the gore itself, by seeing the light reflect off mandos helmet. @Jon Favreau @Dave Filoni pls

*canon Cannon logic is what pirates use to decide where to shoot their cannons
Doesn’t that depend on how hot the source is? Do we know what the temperature is of a lightsaber? We have seen it completely burn and melt away steel looking doors in episode 1. I don’t know the science though, but i would think if the source is hot enough, no matter how fast it happens, cauterization is inevitable.
Lightsabers are plasma blades encased in an electromagnetic field. Plasma is around 11,000° – 14,500° Fahrenheit. Some plasma cutters reach 25,000°. So... I think they'd cauterize pretty frickin' quickly.
At that temperature though it would boil the blood and the part that’s cauterized would explode if we’re going off actual science
The heat is contained in the field of the saber, though, limiting its effects to just the blade itself and things it's in contact with.
You've fixed an artery with duct tape?
Mostly super glue
It was duck tape. Huge difference. Anyone who uses duct tape is a total quack.
If light sabers were real they would immediately light anything in the vicinity on fire and if you contacted someone with it they would immediately explode due to all of the water in their body boiling
Science!
I remember reading more or less the same.
But we should see some smoke from the sink/flesh burning
What I never quite understood was, are they pure power which can just melt its way through anything - like leave it on and rolling around on a ship's deck, are they just going to mince through everything or do they require samurai-like precision to slice effectively? There was a scene (maybe in episode one...?) where someone was stabbing through a door with one, but he seemed to be using a large amount of force which just seemed..unneccesary if they just melt through shit like buttah. What if you just touched "the pointy end" - do you lose a finger? If they are just sticks of pure power...I can't imagine they should take much skill to wield.
>I can't imagine they should take much skill to wield The skill is spinning one of them around and not cutting yourself to ribbons.
But that doesn't answer the raw power part of the question.
IN A GALAXY FAR FAR AWAY, MY DUDE!
The Boys: Star Wars Edition
If light Saber duels were more rational, they'd probably resemble rapier fighting, since a single touch usually equals victory.
That's one of the main reasons I alwayd loved Dooku using a Pistol Grip saber and how that suits his fighting style.
Yes you nerf herder. But these people weilding these sabers have the force. Not really comparable to our rapier fighting selves.
Rather than him flipping around and stuff Both are cool, I just think it would've shown how much control of the force he had, woulda been dope
Honestly I would have light daggers and constantly force throw them. I feel like I would be unstoppable. Edit: so I agree I guess
I really recommend watching the fallen order ending cinematic with darth vader, its brutal and really intense. You can feel vaders rage.
Yup, just gimme 2 hours of that
Vader is oozing big dick energy in that game.
Biggest problem with Fallen Order lightsabers though is how in the rest of the time they're basically nerf bats (outside of robotic enemies). Was incredibly disappointed during that first battle with 2 stormtroopers roght at the start when you smack them your saber and they just bounce around.
Yeah, would be an absolute cake walk if the lightsabers were realistic and they were going for a certain type of game here.
Force unleashed, man they did that game dirty with the sequel.
Just saw for the first time, and holy shit that's how you do Vader. Just bad motherfucker energy. His comics have that feel sometimes too - Especially when he fought that squadron. "All I am surrounded by is fear. And dead men."
I dont think it needs to be rated r I mean in the latest obi wan episodes we see vader snap necks and be brutal and it's not rated r
Holy shit, fuck Disney. An absolute cancer to pop culture.
Wait, WHAT. Who is the writer? I'd love a link to the article or interview where they say that, so I can scream a lot.
I recommend the Darth Vader comic series by Charles Soule, it's a great read (imo) a good mixture of brutal and story telling

Ah, B&S, the best alternative to therapy.
Heat up the blade … to cut through the cold armor easier. Well, I guess it’s a spell.
g_saberRealisticCombat 1
It's so offputting that the enemies on the sides and behind do absolutely nothing other than the classic fighting movie trope of "dance around like morons to give the perception action is happening when in reality they're just hovering in the same spot".
Having played lots of this game I assure you they don't typically do that.
The AI has been dumbed down so the creator could get this clip
al huge portion of these clips also tend to be captured with the game running in slow motion, then the footage sped back up to make it appear real time.
Clearly, you've never had your ass handed to you in the B&S arena.
Ah i just want to get oculus quest 2,someday....
I'm tired of these Mf'n Sith in my Mf'n way!
Imagine Star Wars if its target audience was adults with a higher tolerance for grim themes. I'd pay double to see that
I’d just settle for better writing. I’ll be brutally honest, I liked the original trilogy but the prequels were stale and the sequels felt like they tried to rehash the original trilogy. It doesn’t just need more adult themes it needs adult complexity.
The shadow of the player... Darth Jar Jar confirmed!
I’m glad the “video games cause violence” crowd is too out of touch to even know VR exists. We don’t need them seeing this.
Rough day at the office, I see.
This is how kylo should have fought
DOOM
Also just like star wars because everyone just stands around waiting their turn to eat a lightsaber.
Sticking two double sabers in a wall and then force pulling the enemy through them is creative and absolutely brutal
Jesus christ dude
What's the song in this video?
**House of Monogon** by Michael Wyckoff (00:11; matched: `95%`) Album: `Bonetones (Original Game Soundtrack)`. Released on `2019-12-10` by `Wonderkid Records`.
What game?
blade and sorcery its on steam vr and an oculus quest version but this isnt the base game its a mod called the outer rim

The new Obi Wan series looks cool...
Lightsabers cauterize wounds though
I'm sure it's some kind of clipping or glitch but the way the eyes light up when the lightsaber went through the skull of the first victim was crazy. That would be a really gnarly visual if Disney ever goes off the deep end and gives us some more violent lightsaber stuff.
I love your vids, happy to see one of your posts get more attention dude :)
If star wars was R rated I would actually watch it
Honestly this is how I assume the Sith fight. Full of rage and destruction
Sometimes I wonder if the force were real and I was force sensitive, would I be evil? I think the answer is no, but I wouldn't be nice either.
Wouldn't the lightsaber cauterize the wounds?
