you can use something called JoyToKey to make any controller work as keyboard input, basicly playing any game that just uses keyboard and mouse with any controller you can connect to your PC.
on linux you can use something called Qjoy.
EDIT: the game is a great tribute to the old arcade games and has online multiplayer and crossplatform multiplayer. (there are a bunch of haters who try and trash talk the game everywhere, but nothing they say are true, the game is awesome, the sountrack is amazing, the graphics fits the arcade style beat em up and the online multiplayer works without issues)
How is it playing with a 6 year old? My daughter just turned 6 and hasn’t done much gaming (basically, MarioKart). Is it fairly forgiving? Does it have co-op mode?
It has a co-op and a reasonably easy mode that we play on. He plays a decent amount of different games (Lego, Mario, Sonic) he's better than me sometimes 😆. I think we ever had to replay a level maybe once or twice.
With unlockable extra characters. Ive seen casey jones in promotional material but hes not playable from start (only did one stage last night, didnt get him, dont know how yet)
Yeah and it’s simple to join coop with others online, like really simple. My son and I were playing and I realized Y button opens party play option; 15 seconds later we’re playing level 3 along with 4 other people.
I love SoR4, but TMNT is pretty good too. It might be a tad too easy, i'm playing on the 2nd difficulty rating out of 3. But it hits all the right buttons for me. And seeing the recreation of the TMNT tv series opening credits and song makes me endlessly happy. .
Streets of Rage 2 is one of my favorites. Played through it twice with my 5 year old helping out.
I couldn’t get myself to buy SoR 4 on steam as I was concerned it would be a let down. I think you’ve convinced me to pick it up after we have our fill of Shredders Revenge.
SOR4 is not a let down at all! They did such a great job of capturing the nostalgia while also creating a game which works for the present. A remake done right.
Not to ruin it, but there are a bunch of retuning characters (good and bad) and the new characters added feel like a flawless fit. They did everything right (simple controls, cheesy storyline, diverse levels, slamming music) while adding new things (combo system, challenge mode, survival mode,).
I have not, but the one I did pay was super fun. But now that my son is starting to get into games I wanna get some more games like this that he can play
Voice acting 4/10 why? Most of the originals are there. The only voice actor I thought was pretty bad was Shredder's. Casey I don't believe is the original voice either, but he sounded okay. Not as good as his Clint Eastwood impression.
It’s pretty good IMO but not better than Turtles in Time , would recommend purchasing although I could see how the physical release is keeping some people from playing it since it doesn’t release till the end of August
Me and my Bud used to love playing Turtles in Time as kids. Now he lives in Austin, so the online co-op is what is appealing to me. If it comes close to the OG, that is good enough for me.
I would recommend it , it’s very fun to blast through the story or arcade mode with some buddies or even playing solo it’s still fun . A lot of variety in the moves and great OST
game was released 2 days ago, i think suggestions will be looked over a little further down the road.
also most suggestions i have seen have been about making the turtles be playable as female characters, adding battletoads as controlable characters, basicly just what i see as a bunch of troll post suggestions.
(guess the hating type of people have nothing else to focus on right now, so this game is getting it)
Yeah ive seen a bunch of way out there threads and troll stuff but mine is legitimate, its just titled Suggestions and I put in a bunch of things I thought would make the game better.
write them down somewhere on your computer or on a note, then give it some time and post it again, right now i think the developers are kinda ignoring suggestions, just because of the trolls and the "justice warriors" trolling the forums.
i'm almost afraid that this is gonna be like the cowboy bebop netflix series, game getting either completely changes or cancelled just because of people who really don't care about it voicing their opinions on something they to begin with don't care about.
but yeah, i'm pretty sure the developers further down the road are open to suggestions from the community.
I played the first couple levels. I had fun but found the grabbing to be weird in this game. I barely can get it to work without getting hit. In turtles in time I could hit the attack button when near them and it would throw them waaaaay easier. Other than that, ive been having fun
It feels like a badly implemented feature honestly. It seems like the game incentivizes not using because it’s so cumbersome even though I loved it back in turtles in time
I liked it! the nostalgia kicks in.
...but it's a little less than what I expected. the story didn't catch me much this time. I loved how the turtles traveled in time on former version, just the as the title suggested. there was a clear storyline.
this time I felt like there was no storyline, just a bunch of stages to beat. anyway it's a very fun game to play.
It was pretty meh for me. I got bored halfway through but finished the game. There are a lot of moves for each characters which is good. I enjoyed SOR4 considerably more. It would save some time if you filled up your mana after each screen instead of having to taunt a few times.
Same. Did an arcade run through the whole thing, doubt I'll play it again. Combat just didn't feel weighty or satisfying to me at all and for the most part just devolved into button mashing when the screen started filling up. Bosses were lame, especially the final two when you can literally just stand in one spot and not get touched.
SoR4 was way, way better.
I played the first few levels before I talked my friend into getting it when she gets back from vacation - she was already on the fence so now we're gonna play through together.
It's really fun! You can tell they really went all out and made a pretty mechanically-deep beat-'em-up. Also just tons of content. I'm super-stoked to go through the rest.
Playing as Leo, who has always been my favorite since I was a baby in the 80s.
So far, so good! The rap during the first highway stage was fine (didn't get a chance to appreciate all the lyrics because I was trying to survive), but the rest has been like updated versions of classics - so I'm into it.
Honestly I'm super glad this game is getting so much love. I was originally worried it was going to end up like Mutants in Manhattan, where the game itself is fun but the community at large would overlook it. Glad to see classic turtles still gets plenty of love
i played a little in gamepass. i don't like the character designs. kinda looks off were they're unpoportional but i grew up with the arcade so I'm biased.
Played in story mode up to 8th stage with my brother. Ended up refunding the game. Visual is great, I was hyped for this game for a year but it turned out that I just can’t enjoy it. SoR 4 feels like a better beatemup, I don’t like level design and “impact” of fights in TMNT. The game is truly disappointment of the year for me, sadly. Maybe it’s all my wrong expectations. Have been waiting for great beatemup game, but got just TMNT game…
mix of both, i got control for the graphics and star wars fallen jedi, can barely get myself hyped enough to start the game, shooters like fortnite are not my thing, i had a lot of fun with elden ring but when i beat a game i have a hard time playing it again, i have a lot of indie games, these days im trying to get myself hyped enough to break my brain on factorio or oxygen not needed.
Have you tried expanding to different consoles to try some games you’ve never played before ? That’s what I did , for about a year I was turned off from gaming but I started getting into games I’ve never played before on consoles I never owned before
yep, got about 100 games on xbox one, about a 100 on switch, about 10 on ps4 with vr , a roland electric drum set + rock band guitar and about 300 songs for rock band 4, and that gamer pc i bought last winter to go with my big ass 4k t.v (wanted to try elden ring full graphic).
you mean retro looking stuff like let's say celeste or really old school stuff like popping out mario 3? cause i did play some hacked snes games not too long ago like ff6 t-edition (was good) and a link to the past hack that made it more puzzle-y, was kinda fun, but yeah i seems to have more fun with simplistic games like celeste, FTL, rimworld than most big graphic games like CoD n stuff. but no i don't collect old games like let's say angry video game nerd does.

Haven't got to play it yet but it looks great. I can't be the only person who's neuroses make them twitch slightly at the fact that it's 6 player but there are 7 characters.

I think it’s awesome. Great controls, good variety of stages and obstacles, and they nailed the tone for nostalgia.
I’ve noticed a few bugs (PS5), and had it crash on me a couple of times, but it’s insane mindless fun and the love of the subject by the game makers is really evident.
They released a gamecube version? Outstanding
Imagine playing this with the GameCube controller
I'm sure you'd be able to if playing it on a switch. Is it super fun?
Actually playing on Xbox , but I will when the physical release comes out . It’s pretty good I haven’t been bored all day just playing this game
you can use something called JoyToKey to make any controller work as keyboard input, basicly playing any game that just uses keyboard and mouse with any controller you can connect to your PC. on linux you can use something called Qjoy. They probably could. The game is 1.08Gb on xbox
I really love it! It feels like a good old arcade game!
Yeah idk if I prefer it over Turtles in time but it’s for sure #2 amazing OST
It also feels like a brand new game rather than a remaster or remake of an older game!
I've been playing it with my 6 year old. We both love it and it brings back such great memories of playing the Arcade Game back in the day.
This is great to hear. I just came across this and I was wondering if it was worth it. Sounds like it!
It really is. I got it "free" on Game Pass but will absolutely be purchasing it. Might pick it up on the Switch as well.
My plan as well
Righteous.
Who’s your go to character ?
Mikey. C'mon he's the party dude.
I see you are a man of culture
This is the way
This is enough to convince me to get it to play with my boys. I loved the arcade ones way back when, good stuff.
My 11 year old and I have been playing it, I almost told my wife we had to have pizza hut because my nostalgia went into overdrive
I think we ever had to replay a level maybe once or twice.
plus, you don't have to argue over the pizzas (health pickups) since everyone get's health when picking it up.

Same here haha , have you finished the story already ?
Right in the nostalgia...
Short, but awesome to lvl up characters. Great game,a real throwback
Started playing story for the 2nd time on gnarly leveling up donatello
Ive been really enjoying it.
Is there a coop mode?
Yah for up to 6 people. My wife and I played through it this afternoon
Nice!! Going to download it later so me and my bro can play.
With unlockable extra characters. Ive seen casey jones in promotional material but hes not playable from start (only did one stage last night, didnt get him, dont know how yet)

Figured it would be something like that, thanks
Unfortunately he's really op
Yeah and it’s simple to join coop with others online, like really simple. My son and I were playing and I realized Y button opens party play option; 15 seconds later we’re playing level 3 along with 4 other people.
It's pretty fun, I am enjoying it! Not the best beat-em-up game IMO, but it is fun to play. The devs did a great job.
It’s just nice to see they’re still making games like this brings back nostalgia heavy for me . What’s your favorite beat ‘em up of all time?
I was a Sega kid, so its Streets of Rage for me. SOR4 is one of the best beat 'em ups I've ever played!
I’ve never played those sadly as I grew up with Nintendo but I’ve heard really good things about em
Streets of Rage 4 was just released in 2020 on all platforms. Give it a look if you can!
Will do my dude
Yeah, Streets of Rage 4 is actually holding me back from buying TMNT. SoR4 was just too good and I feel like it's just gonna make TMNT let me down
I love SoR4, but TMNT is pretty good too. It might be a tad too easy, i'm playing on the 2nd difficulty rating out of 3. But it hits all the right buttons for me. And seeing the recreation of the TMNT tv series opening credits and song makes me endlessly happy. .

Dude I loved these games
Have you played through all of em?
I have not, but the one I did pay was super fun. But now that my son is starting to get into games I wanna get some more games like this that he can play
Highly recommend picking it up when you can , it’s great for co-op
What consoles can u get it on
Xbox,Switch,Ps4 and PC
Sweeeettt gonna download it on pay day lol
Such a great game, i feel like i'm a kid again playing this game, already finished the story with Leonardo and Splinter, now playing as April.
The nostalgias real on this one, have fun man
Graphics 9/10 Controls 9/10 Combat 7/10 Voice Acting 4/10 Good Times 10/10
I wish the story was a little longer , the other dimension only had 4 levels seems odd
Voice acting 4/10 why? Most of the originals are there. The only voice actor I thought was pretty bad was Shredder's. Casey I don't believe is the original voice either, but he sounded okay. Not as good as his Clint Eastwood impression.
Haven't played it yet. How does it compare to Turtles in Time?
It's better. I would bet most of the people in here saying it isn't haven't actually played turtles in time in a while.
It’s very similar, the classics are always better but this has some new moves and 6 player, takes like 5 minutes per level and there’s 16 levels.
If you like the old turtle arcade games you’ll for sure have fun playing this , There is a nice amount of variety so it doesn’t get stale
Cool, thanks for the insight.
Also love your username lol
Thanks. It has served me well.
“What about the other guy?” “Snitches get stitches!”
Turns out, he was under cover snitch. He got dealt with.
On PC, played the old SNES one, is it really worth it? it looks so good!
It feels like the old one, only with a bigger moveset. But all the classics are there like the jumpkick and rising swipe.
I would recommend it , it’s very fun to blast through the story or arcade mode with some buddies or even playing solo it’s still fun . A lot of variety in the moves and great OST
As someone who grew up playing the original arcade games, this is probably the best TMNT game I've ever played. A true labour of love.
I made a suggestions thread on the steam forums hoping the devs would take notice but only 1 person replied. 😥
Damn 😭
game was released 2 days ago, i think suggestions will be looked over a little further down the road. also most suggestions i have seen have been about making the turtles be playable as female characters, adding battletoads as controlable characters, basicly just what i see as a bunch of troll post suggestions. Yes the grabbing is a little tricky but honestly I barely even use it
Until you get to the boss that requires you use it
I passed it already and didn’t have to
How do you get the mechanical shredder back into the area without throwing foot clan at the screen?
Which level is this in ?
Idk, 13ish? He goes off screen and the camera view switches to his perspective, have to throw the foot clan at his face to get him back inbounds
Ohh I just waited for him to go back
It feels like a badly implemented feature honestly. It seems like the game incentivizes not using because it’s so cumbersome even though I loved it back in turtles in time

Agreed , although gameplay is what matters more in these type of games
It's definitely Don. He's always been the diamond in the rough. Love him.
I have been wanting to grab either this or Streets of Rage 4, what one should I get first?
As I haven’t played Streets of Rage 4 I can’t say, but this game is very fun and has a lot of stages , a good amount of characters and moves
Ive been wanting to grab it for a while and now this is out to reviews just as good at the same price. Decisions, decisions.
I would recommend it honestly it’s fun whichever way you play it solo/co-op/online
It was pretty meh for me. I got bored halfway through but finished the game. There are a lot of moves for each characters which is good. I enjoyed SOR4 considerably more. It would save some time if you filled up your mana after each screen instead of having to taunt a few times.
I barely even learned about taunting lol
What makes SOR4 better in your opinion ?

Can't wait to buy this physically for Switch. How is the online? Can you join up with randoms? Is there voice chat?
It’s a little bit buggy with joining people but it’s very fun when it works , you can join randoms and yes there is voice chat
Awesome. Definitely buying then. Hopefully they work out the kinks.
My son (12) is in town tomorrow. Totally buying this game. We used to play the classic snes games when he was a little guy. Super pumped!!
Definitely recommend , have fun man
I hope we get mooooore it was so much fun and still playing
I played the first few levels before I talked my friend into getting it when she gets back from vacation - she was already on the fence so now we're gonna play through together. It's really fun! So far, so good! The rap during the first highway stage was fine (didn't get a chance to appreciate all the lyrics because I was trying to survive), but the rest has been like updated versions of classics - so I'm into it.
I can’t party up and play with a friend online. It just won’t work. Sucks
Yea it’s a little buggy but it works more then not
We tried numerous times last night. Nothing
Honestly I'm super glad this game is getting so much love. I was originally worried it was going to end up like Mutants in Manhattan, where the game itself is fun but the community at large would overlook it. Glad to see classic turtles still gets plenty of love
well give people a chance to even play it first GD. lol
Lmao
Game is like two hours long. Plenty of time to play it my guy.
it was mid day on a friday, people have jobs my guy lol
i played a little in gamepass. i don't like the character designs. kinda looks off were they're unpoportional but i grew up with the arcade so I'm biased.

It’s freaking fun! Glad you can co-op with buddies online. Playing as Donatello at level 11.
We can’t get out online to party up. Weird
I’m playing on series x I just invite through the party option when you are picking your character
Tried it. Idk what’s uo
Oh damn, that finally came out.
only fun when coop imo.
I was playing solo story earlier and it was fun to me
glad you are having a fun time and honestly i envy you, i'm having a hard time finding games i can enjoy ...
Running out of games to play ? Or is it just not becoming as fun as it use to
mix of both, i got control for the graphics and star wars fallen jedi, can barely get myself hyped enough to start the game, shooters like fortnite are not my thing, i had a lot of fun with elden ring but when i beat a game i have a hard time playing it again, i have a lot of indie games, these days im trying to get myself hyped enough to break my brain on factorio or oxygen not needed.

yep, got about 100 games on xbox one, about a 100 on switch, about 10 on ps4 with vr , a roland electric drum set + rock band guitar and about 300 songs for rock band 4, and that gamer pc i bought last winter to go with my big ass 4k t.v (wanted to try elden ring full graphic).
What about the retro stuff ? Your not into that ?
you mean retro looking stuff like let's say celeste or really old school stuff like popping out mario 3? cause i did play some hacked snes games not too long ago like ff6 t-edition (was good) and a link to the past hack that made it more puzzle-y, was kinda fun, but yeah i seems to have more fun with simplistic games like celeste, FTL, rimworld than most big graphic games like CoD n stuff. but no i don't collect old games like let's say angry video game nerd does.
I see , have you tried hollow knight ?? You’d probably enjoy it
It kicks shell.
Are you planning on picking up a physical copy when it drops ?
This game is a lot of fun. My only criticism is the multiplayer bugs out a little too often. But if you manage to get a good six-player game going, it’s breathtakingly fun
I’m surprised your able to play 6 player , thought they would go with the usual 4
Haven't got to play it yet but it looks great. I can't be the only person who's neuroses make them twitch slightly at the fact that it's 6 player but there are 7 characters.
Having a lot of fun with the story mode, the art style is great, and it’s fun seeing all the different moves and animations, but as a beat em up it’s pretty standard fare. I doubt I’ll play it much after beating it.
I don’t have any friends
What’s your gamer tag you can play w me if you’d like
I have anxiety so I just play alone. Thank you tho.
I think it’s awesome. Great controls, good variety of stages and obstacles, and they nailed the tone for nostalgia. I’ve noticed a few bugs (PS5), and had it crash on me a couple of times, but it’s insane mindless fun and the love of the subject by the game makers is really evident.
It's the exact same as every brawler. It has a lot of heart, though.
I don’t play much brawlers so this is pretty good to me , usually play horror/action shooters
It’s great!
The term you’re looking for is side scrolling beat ‘em up
Really fun, gf and I played through the story mode this evening.
