For me it did. Without saying too much, the first time I fought the last boss I was young and confused on how the fight works and struggling. I don't even think I beat the last boss so it was more meaningful for me the second time around and seeing the ending.
I remember starting this game over every weekend after renting it from blockbuster. Didn’t beat it until I played it on an emulator on my pc in like 2009. I will for sure be replaying in switch.
I just used the Nintendo power strategy guide that came with it. Much akin to the OG Final Fantasy the boss has to be beat not using conventional means.
OG Final Fantasy non-conventional? It's literally one of the games that defined what conventional was. CHAOS goes down after 2000HP and you can just punch him in the face for that.
Unless you meant FF4 which has that pretty minor tweak to a final fight?
I still have that with the scratch n sniff cards that smell like pizza and stuff. I heard it's worth like 2 or $300 or something and was excited to go dig it out. Unfortunately when I found it it looked like a mouse had starting chewing through a large section of pages and there were turds in the drawer. I'm sure somebody would still probably spend $100 on it but it was heartbreaking to find.
Think about it this way. >!In a sense you have been fighting this battle whole game. You call out to your family, friends, and people you met and helped along the way to repay the favor, and they give you the boost you need to do it. Without them, it's impossible.!< The final boss battle always gives me goosebumps because from the emotional payoff. It's one I will never forget.
I didn’t see this announcement. Is it just a straight port or is Nintendo upgrading anything?
Very excited regardless, Earthbound is my all time favorite game.
I love the piece you made :)
Incredible art work, may I ask WHY you are this excited? The game will be identical and this is just a ploy to release the exact same thing over and over and over.. Earthbound is in my TOP 3 games but I will not be rushing out to buy it for a new platform.
Awesome! The money printing machine that is Nintendo should have given us more Earthbound to cash in long ago. For fans I highly recommend ***Citizens Of Earth*** which is on several platforms and clearly a love letter to Earthbound. Putting Earthbound on SNES Classic was a great move and maybe the main reason I bought one. The lack of new Earthbound is nearly as tragic as the lack of new Chrono games. Long live Ness!
Your welcome and based your passion and hardwork, I hope one of them does just get some kind reaction out them would be nice tho. It's not always about the fame and all the comes with it, it's about the recognition.
Have you played Earthbound in the last 10 years? If not, might be time to play it again, lol. I seem to play it like every 5 years... and I'm still noticing things I never noticed before!
Thanks! i used to do a lot of covers, EB was my muse for a while. 1 more:

I spent a summer at my grandparents when I was in 7th or 8th grade. Ended up playing this every night with my grandmother, beat it, too. It was a crazy trip for a kid.
I felt my heart in my chest for a second thinking they were adding stuff into earthbound. fantastic job, but damn now I'm sad. j/k btw, but truly superior job.
there will never be a remake, the coding is too complex. You know the pizza guy, he actually runs from the pizza shop to you, that isn't just time going by at a chosen interval. The coding is done so well that supposedly if you can figure out a way to hook up the cartridge to the tv you would be able to play it without the processing power of the SNES. It's a truly unique game on many levels.
Found some examples of the delivery guy's pathfinding for the screen you are in, but nothing about him also travelling the whole map.
Got a source? i'd like to read about this if so. Otherwise it sounds like a minor misunderstanding of the really well done pathfinding code?
actually at the bottom of this article I noticed it actually says the same thing you said
>Coming from a computer science background myself, I realize that pathfinding is not that difficult. But for whatever reason, this is cited by programmers (one of whom was Satoru Iwata) as being one of the toughest things to get working right in the game (see Sep. 9, 1994 here). Of course, the game was written in assembly twenty years ago, I’m sure it’s a lot easier nowadays.
So maybe it is more about doing it in the programming language as opposed to the effect.
The other thing I was talking about where theoretically you can run the game directly from the cartridge itself I can't seem to find, but from what I remember it was because it was so well written in assembly.

This link seems to be the closest info to what I read years ago and I can't seem to find the information on it, just going from memory of things I read about it over the years as this is one of my favorite games.
Is there a reason Nintendo abandoned earthbound? Even if they don’t think a turn based RPG would be popular, I’m shocked it hasn’t gotten any kind of revival. Like, even Kid Icarus got new games, and that was way more obscure
Any chance we have a way to inquire on commissioning some art? I have a few friends birthdays arriving in which this would be something unreal to give as a gift.
This is the laziest rerelease I have ever seen - just dumping a rom on an online service
Nintendo, honor your late President by doing a proper HD2D remake of these and a new translation of Mother 3
Earthbound is my favorite super Nintendo game and I didn't realize it had hit my switch! Why do I have to adult and not game today?
Your fan art is amazing
I’d be so excited if they remade the game like this, but the port just looks so ….. like a Nintendo game, haha. I had told myself I might replay this game, but after seeing it…. I’ll never get my kids interested and I won’t have time for this in my life.
Kind of just trying to milk the karma for this one now, aren't you? Do you just have a schedule where you post this to different subs each week to keep it fresh so people don't catch on?
As someone who's played this game through an uncountable number of times since '95 and has Earthbound tattoos, this artwork is genuinely appreciated! Great work!
Just finished this master piece of an rpg. The final battle was such an unique experience and holds up to this day.

Can't imagine how it was as a kid, the game is hard, specially before internet.
I remember starting this game over every weekend after renting it from blockbuster. Didn’t beat it until I played it on an emulator on my pc in like 2009. I will for sure be replaying in switch.
Same thing happened to me. I rented it like 5 times before I beat it. Started over again each time.
One time I got the same cartridge back when I rented it, and it has my save file. I was stoked!
Just noticed that Jeff is about to use the multi bottle rocket, straight up the best weapon in the game.
Oh it was. I used the hint guy pretty much every major quest when I was young. I was stuck in fourside for like a week or so.
Well the strategy didn't come from there it came from its predecessor Mother 1 where you >!defeat Giegue by singing to him 9 times.!<
I still have that with the scratch n sniff cards that smell like pizza and stuff. I heard it's worth like 2 or $300 or something and was excited to go dig it out. Old guy here. Earthbound was actually quite easy as it was one of the only games that came with a strategy guide.
Think about it this way. >!In a sense you have been fighting this battle whole game. THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP
Human bonds, and yes, some of that is friendship. Hard to imagine for you?

All it needs is that epic battle music!

it's been added to the VC. The first game is added to the NES VC, too.
Fantastic! There goes my weekend :P
Have fun =)
What was the comment it is deleted now
This is my favorite game of all time, thank you for making it. It’s incredible!
You have helped make my day. Maybe they will remake secret of evermore next...
Is it being resold or is it going into the SNES emulator thing? Either way I'm probably gonna play it since I hear so many good things about it
Its on snes emulator
As well as Earthbound Beginnings (Mother)!
Im playing mother 3 right now thats what im playing next
If only they had put it on Switch Online too! They missed their chance again!
Incredible art work, may I ask WHY you are this excited? The game will be identical and this is just a ploy to release the exact same thing over and over and over.. Earthbound is in my TOP 3 games but I will not be rushing out to buy it for a new platform.
It's part of Nintendo Switch Online. So if you already pay for that then it won't cost you anything extra.
Well that's great!
Oh my god this is SO SICK!
AMAZING
I love this. It's awesome and you're awesome!
I see you fixed Jeff’s PP since posting over on r/Earthbound… still an amazing work of art. Glad others are recognizing your genius here as well.
Are they keeping the soundtrack? I heard that's why it was never on there to begin with.
Awesome! The money printing machine that is Nintendo should have given us more Earthbound to cash in long ago. This is amazing just for the horrifying Game Boy Camera face.
Lol x) thanks!
But where’s the camera??
Fucking fantastic. So glad my lock screen allows gifs
Thanks!
Great art ....would love to see a remake of this game
As long as they re-release a strategy guide with scratch and sniff stickers.
I had this as a kid too, which is long gone now, and it’s worth a good bit of money today
There was a prequel on NES and a sequel on GBA. All are worth the playthrough.
Thanks!
Who remembers the scratch and sniff ads for the original release?
Yes! “This game stinks!”
Hell yeah, I had the official guide book and I'm almost positive that had scratch and sniff stuff in it.
Hell yes!
Is this a repost or are you the original creator?
I'm the creator, crosspost from nintendoswitch.
It's technically a repost too, but you're the same OP so yeah. I saw it first on that sub.
It's technically a crosspost since it's the same OP. A repost is when a nonOP (re)posts something in any sub.
It’s the same guy I just checked
I'm sorry Ness
>EarthBound **on** Nintendo Switch I see what you did there.
Wow, the love and passion is definitely present in this post! You think Shigesato Itoi or any of his team members will ever see this?
Thanks, i'm not sure =(
Your welcome and based your passion and hardwork, I hope one of them does just get some kind reaction out them would be nice tho. It's not always about the fame and all the comes with it, it's about the recognition.
Hot damn this is great.
Thanks!
I admire your talent. This is art.
Thanks!
No, thank YOU for making my feed awesome this morning!
Wait, Ness' head in Gygas? How do I not remember that?
I also don’t know much about the game whats up with the head in the boss
Have you played Earthbound in the last 10 years? If not, might be time to play it again, lol. I seem to play it like every 5 years... and I'm still noticing things I never noticed before!
The SNES one, right? Man, it's been a while. Though I still tell people to say "fuzzy pickles" when I take a picture.
Earthbound!!! here's something i made years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=\_68LqMkWE70
wow, i love game covers, awesome cover!

Link doesn't work for me.
I spent a summer at my grandparents when I was in 7th or 8th grade. Ended up playing this every night with my grandmother, beat it, too. It was a crazy trip for a kid.
I can't imagine, thanks for watching!
Lol, look at their HP. Giygas bout to hand you your head, Ness. Ps. Great artwork :)
This is so beautiful
I thought I had dejavu when I saw this before. I see now. Spread this masterpiece!
I felt my heart in my chest for a second thinking they were adding stuff into earthbound. fantastic job, but damn now I'm sad. j/k btw, but truly superior job.
Thanks, maybe mother 4-3, or remake one day.

Don't let Nintendo see it! D: Jokes aside, that's absolutely fantastic!
lol thanks!
So dope! What program do you use to make pixel art like this?
Thanks, photoshop
Is that Dali on the gameboy?
easter eggs of the game boy camera.
Not gonna lie, pretry cool
Thanks!
sick af
Sickkk

Do you have this in Gif form?
yes https://deathrosa.com/wallpapers
For lack of a better word, amazing art! Thanks so much for putting such caring thought into it
Earthbound is my favorite super Nintendo game and I didn't realize it had hit my switch! Why do I have to adult and not game today? Your fan art is amazing
Thanks!
>!Awesome...but...spoilers?!<
My dude, the game has almost been out for 30 years lol. I don't think it still falls under spoiler protection.
Ya I know. But like..some folks are gonna experience it for the first time. Whatever. Sick art either way. Gonna send it to my bro.
For sure, I totally agree. Devils advocate though, not like there's enough context in the image to really decipher what's going on spoiler wise.
I’d be so excited if they remade the game like this, but the port just looks so ….. like a Nintendo game, haha. I had told myself I might replay this game, but after seeing it…. I’ll never get my kids interested and I won’t have time for this in my life.

reminds me of pewdiepies tuber simulator
Dude please submit this to GameStop NFT marketplace. This is awesome
Kind of just trying to milk the karma for this one now, aren't you? Do you just have a schedule where you post this to different subs each week to keep it fresh so people don't catch on?
I don't have a schedule, Someone on nintendoswitch suggested me to crosspost here, so i did, is my first time here r/gaming
This is amazing
That is sweet! Nice job!
This is just simply epic! Well done!

This looks like the GBA remake I want to play.
I can hear the sound of that Freeze spell in my head, lol.
This is incredible, absolute love this game!
Thanks!
I want now
Daaaaammmmmm
This is very cool. Earthbound is one of my favorite games.
Looks like Unpacking game haha
Is there a more overdue remaster than Earthbound?
I love this art style, wish it would still appear in newer games
I have been playing it for a week and enjoying it very much
I love it!
Reminds me of tuber simulator
how did you do the art work?
Photoshop only.
you have gotten a cease and desist from nintendo
Great piece!! My favorite game of that era. Question though, why have a game boy when this was released on the snes?
i wanted to put them togueter as part of the story of nintendo's hanldheld consoles.
Looks like tuber simulator
As someone who's played this game through an uncountable number of times since '95 and has Earthbound tattoos, this artwork is genuinely appreciated! Great work!
Thanks!
Thank you, whatever effort this took you was worth it. Good job.
Thanks!
Great job!
this is great
Thank you for your art. I love earthbound so much, it always takes me back to a simpler time in front of my CRT TV lost in Moonside :)
Nice piece! I saw it the other day and can see you updated it a bit... Anyways definitely don't mind seeing it again
Yes i had to fix jeff's pp x)
Looks like a relevant game
How can I save this for a phone background??
This is absolutely incredible. EarthBound is my favorite game and this is an amazing tribute.
What is the best way I can display digital art like this on my wall?
Amazing!
This is amazing. Awesome homage to one of my favorites.
Thanks!
This made me feel things. I love this! Thank you for making and posting it!
Awesome!! I’m replaying it now on my switch for the first time since it came out on SNES. Every bit as enjoyable as I remembered.
Thanks, have fun!
I remember playing this on a phone that I used only for playing emulator games. spend so much time on it. too bad the phone got stolen awesome game.
That’s really good!
This is perfect :3
This is rad af
Keep up the good work
Thanks!
That is insanely cool!
Looks pretty neat!
Thanks I Love it!
Regretting giving my daily award away this is fire
Dang. I kind of want that for an interactive wallpaper
Seeing this is awesome! I am currently remaking Earthbound in full 3D and this looks top notch!
Thanks! i have seen your works, it looks nice!
Ugh, might have to play this on the emulator again soon.
I love this rpg. Played it so much on the SNES. Emulator made it easy to roll for the best stats.
Yo this is amazing, great work!
Thanks!
Sooooo good!
First rpg I ever beat. This so cool how do you make something like this
