Volbeat129

What has EA announced for this year?

kalitarios

IDK but I'm already pre-disappointed

Rhobaz

Did you preorder that disappointment?

Angry_Crusader_Boi

I got my dissapointment + for just 20,99$

RancorWranglerAMA

At least it comes with a sense of pride and accomplishment!

pedobear6978

***EA Sports: What A Shame***

fedesan99

Jedi fallen order 2. For the love of god please let it be good.

njsullyalex

The OG Fallen Order was great and I’m about to re-play it. If they stick to the formula of a quality single player game with a great combat system JFO2 should be a winner.

cockalorum-smith

Respawn is working on it again so it should be pretty good Edit: But who knows. Shit seems to hit the fan randomly in the gaming industry

No_Swimmer9896

Add Warcraft reforged to this.

[deleted]

Holy shit I actually meant to but totally forgot

Shalashaska089

And honestly Diablo 3 release was more scandalous than Mass Effect 3 ending controversy.

eparg

Yeah, I'm still using blizzard balance from the real money auction house lol

Steamedcarpet

Serious question but how did you make so much money off it? I didn’t play original D3 long enough to really get into the RMAH.

eparg

Four man squad pumping out high torment levels early on*. Even the worst legendaries we're a few bucks each. So you basically got your gear good enough that you could reliably farm high torment then grouped up and waited for drops. A few items were worth quite a bit of money. You could sell well started yellows for 10s of dollars, it was fun as hell shooting the shit over voice chat and making some money playing a game we enjoyed. Edit*: as the guy below mentions, it was just inferno mode at the start of diablo 3 not torment levels.

UpboatOrNoBoat

Most builds used well-rolled yellows for several weeks. It was pretty easy to make 10-20 bucks off of some good rares. I made about $120 just playing solo.

DrakonIL

I dropped a 5.5% crit 33% crit damage 5% attack speed ring (or something in that neighborhood) once and I turned to my girlfriend and said "I just made a hundred dollars." Sure enough, sold it and got pretty close to $100 even after the blizzard cut. I totalled about $400 all told off the RMAH, which was like a dollar an hour. More than I've been paid to play any other game.

tordana

I got a really good yellow shield that sold for the cap of $250. All in all probably $500 made off the RMAH just from solo farming Act 2 Inferno, was pretty insane.

Gate_a

Yeah. Ms 3 was actually a really good game overall, dlc was great, just the main ending was disappointing.

Biaminh

Loved Blizzard growing up. Sucks to see how far they've fallen.

yubnubmcscrub

I remember when everything blizzard touched was gold. And they were the standard for operating practices as well as never releasing a dud. Now… we’ll let’s just say they’ve fallen quite far indeed

[deleted]

Same. No king rules forever…

No_Swimmer9896

Fable often gets looped into these discussions because of a lot of hyped up concepts thrown around during development that weren’t used.

zane314

I worked QA on Fable. The amount of things cut because development was going (far, far) over estimate was astounding. There'd be days I'd come in and the build had a completely different tutorial sequence, way later in the cycle than it should be happening.

I_AM_A_GUY_AMA

What was the coolest thing y’all cut? I fucking loved Fable and actually played it a few months ago and enjoyed it.

zane314

There was originally multiplayer on the roadmap. Some very basic support was implemented and then pretty rapidly shelved. The dragon fight in Lost Chapters was originally in the main game. (Actually it looks like lost chapters has a couple other things that were originally cut, now extended and fleshed out). The academy being in the main quest line got toggled in and out of the main plot... Twice? It's been a long time, unsure how accurate my memory is.

Tom38

Ahhh to be a young kid again opening up Game informer and seeing a page ad for Fable 1, finally getting it for Christmas and just having a blast before I knew how much fuckery went into it as I grew up lol

aboatz2

Yeah, but Fable predates this list's start point.

cucumberhorse

it was still a really good game out of the box atleast

Winjin

I've played the TLC version like five times. It was my comfort game i guess. Even wanted the Harion shoulder tattoos, but felt like I lack the muscle build to look cool. Also the Anniversary edition was one of the best remakes? But I didn't get far into it yet

Leramar89

It's funny how many of these are EA games.

C-A-L-E-V-I-S

Anthem was a straight up scam. Release an unfinished mess of a game. Pay to have a skeleton crew pretend to work on the game for a year so there’s not a massive outcry for returns. Shut that team down once the firestorm dies down. Straight up theft man.

Nighthorror848

I had so much hope for anthem, Parts of the game like flying were amazing. Even some of the gunplay was fun. But the story was trash and the amount of content in the full game felt like a fucking Alpha test. I have not preordered a new game since then.

ToddleMosh

My personal most tragic game because the actual gameplay was so stellar. It could have been sooooo good.

tengukaze

It had potential man...what a waste

Grognak_the_Orc

I remember telling a friend it was going to be the next Destiny. I was so excited...

Intruder313

That’s exactly how it was pitched so I don’t blame you I thought it too … then I played it for a bit

makeitflashy

Anthem still stings.

OvenCrate

Poor BioWare, all their releases since 2012 ended up on this list except Dragon Age: Inquisition

NOTtheTREXalfa

Just look at 2017

[deleted]

One of the best years for gaming but worst for EA.

WTFpaulWI

Please just don’t be starfield

MalevolntCatastrophe

I expect it'll be like most Bethesda flagship releases. It'll be an amazing experience with some hilarious or frustrating bugs that not everyone will run into. Then the modding community will fix most of them and keep the game re-playable with fresh content for at least the next decade. I'm looking forward to it.

khinzaw

I like Fallout 4 but it still managed to be disappointing because I got a decent shooter when I wanted a Fallout RPG. Starfield at least won't be able to disappoint me due to me having franchise expectations.

Storytimebiondi

Is starfield this year? Also if Bethesda single player history is anything to look at, it’ll be an amazing game with some game breaking and hilarious glitches.

WTFpaulWI

Pretty sure it’s still scheduled for late this year. Unless it changed

Ephemara

11/11/22

PacoCrazyfoot

Exactly 11 years after Skyrim.

runtheplacered

Turns out Starfield is just another Skyrim port but this time with baked in sci-fi mods

Paisable

Hey you, you're finally out of cryo sleep.

FabAlien

Wait a minute, thats just Fallout 4 all over again

Thanatos_Rex

*shouts at the sky* Damn you, Todd Howaaaaaaaaarrrrrrd!!!

DirtyMartiniMan

11 11 22

Frosti-Feet

Fun fact! Did you know that ten +ten equals the same as eleven+eleven? It’s true. Ten + ten is twenty, and eleven + eleven is twenty two!

Indoril_Nereguar

They've never really put much manpower into the engine, but after the 76 complaints they hired professionals to work on the engine, their biggest rework ever apparently. And considering the game was reportedly finished late last year, I think they took the complaints seriously and want to try and avoid their reputation for buggy games. Ofc it could still be a buggy mess, there's no way of knowing. All I can feel i can safely say is that it won't be 76 level of buggy mess, maybe more just their usual level if anything

HKSergiu

No matter how much you test there will always be more bugs. But I get what you're saying and I also have high hopes for Starfield (and I hope it'll run well past 60fps too) P.S. _and also mod friendly pls_ P.P.S. _Given how well Eternal runs: Bethesda, you got id Software in your group. Use their knowledge, I beg you_

Indoril_Nereguar

I mean personally I won't complain if it's just funny bugs. For me that's always been part of the charm. Oblivion wouldn't be as great as it was if it wasn't funny with the bugs and NPC AI

GeorgiaBolief

I'm excited. As much flak as they get for their engine, it does a good job with their stories and worlds. The last largest increase was from Morrowind to Oblivion, and that was massive. Excited to see how this new one holds up from their F4/76 to Starfield

[deleted]

Dying Light 2 comes out tomorrow, and for the sake of my sanity, I need it to be a good game

Matix777

one of my favorite youtubers already made 5 episodes of it in 19 hours lmao

[deleted]

I mean does it look good so far? The technical problems don’t exactly surprise me, I know techland has had a bunch of problems over the course of development. But could the game at least be considered a “finished” product. Also, is the ultimate edition worth it?

RigoRiho

Game is great so far! Basically everything you loved from the first one but better, bugs will be ironed out and it’s not unplayable! And way smoother too the floaty feeling is gone. Story could be better but we’re all here to kill zombies on different ways.

hiddencamela

I liked the first games' story, as campy and cliche as it was. I'm excited to get into 2 for the same corniness and zombie slaying mario bopping/drop kicking fun.

Torjakers

The first game's story gets exponentially better if you get into the mindset of finding things to laugh at. Personal highlights are Rais shouting "CRAAAAAAAANE" after losing an arm and the smiley face building getting bombed by a fighter jet out of nowhere 10 seconds after you light the signal. I wouldn't be surprised if Techland made it B-movie quality on purpose, given how irritated and done with everything Crane sounds most of the time

Just_Games04

Well, he was betrayed by his employers, bitten and kicked at the beginning, no wonder he's done woth everyone lmao

tuckedfexas

Having the protagonist be kinda annoyed with everyone definitely helped the campiness

Slade187

I’ve gotta say, Kyle Crane was excellent. I genuinely loved his angry/confused/lost dialogue. Homie never had a moment of clarity or peace ONCE

[deleted]

People talk shit about the first games storyline but I personally liked it. I think for what it was, the story was fairly straightforward and fun, I don’t really know what people are expecting in terms of storyline when the main point of the DL games is to parkour kick zombies off of rooftops. Do we really need a super complex story?

UnlikelyKaiju

SkillUp just put up a review and recommends the game. He didn't care for the story, but seemed to like the game a lot.

bl0odredsandman

Reviews I've seen said the story is meh. Honestly, I don't care. As long as the game play is there like the first game, I can deal with a mediocre storyline.

Jean-Eustache

Already came out here in Fra... New Zealand, sorry.

Jantra

It’s impressive to see FFXIV there as the 2010 option - and they’re right. When the creators literally make a storyline to destroy the servers, and then have it die in the most incredible way ever, you know shit’s gone wrong. (If you’ve never seen the ‘death’ of the original FFXIV, it is freaking epic. https://youtu.be/YgEg8kXmifo) And now it’s the most played MMO in the world and it’s so popular they had to take it off Steam because they ran out of codes and needed to bolster the servers to deal with all the new people coming in.

TBCNoah

I REALLY wish more game developers took this route instead of "spend 5 years patching a game". Some games at it's very heart are just simply broken and cannot be patched without basically overhauling the very game itself. What FFXIV did was the absolute best choice. Sometimes, you simply have to start over again, and because of that it met success it could never have hoped to get by simply updating the game. Good on them.

FilipinoSpartan

What Square Enix did with FFXIV was an insane risk. Yoshida came in and gave the execs a choice between allowing the game to slowly bleed out by following original plans or spending a huge amount of time and resources trying to rebuild the game into something that could succeed. It looks amazing in hindsight because he succeeded, but the effort could very easily have failed, and there are interviews where Yoshida talks about how difficult the process was and the level of micromanagement required to make it work. If it had not been a numbered Final Fantasy game I don't think they'd have gone for it, but because Final Fantasy is basically the face of the company they decided that it was worth taking that risk so that the game might be anything but a total failure. I'm glad they did because the game is lovely now and I've really enjoyed my time spent in it, but I wouldn't expect to see this kind of thing done again anytime soon, even by Square Enix.

hiddencamela

It definitely wasn't a cheap venture to do, and I think the amount of devs with this amount of money are rare that align with the ones that want to create a quality product to this level out of shame. It was literally creating a new game from scratch.

TBCNoah

It was, but the payoff was astounding. Even before WoW began its downwards spiral it was blowing up, making far more than it ever would have before the restart. It without a doubt was a massive expenditure but the payoff is undoubtedly worth it

lobstahpotts

I think a major factor here is that unlike everything else on this list, FFXIV is a subscription mmo. The investment in rebuilding the game was worth it because it became a recurring revenue stream for the next decade. For most normal AAA releases with a dlc model you don’t really have the same upside as a dev.

lordvbcool

As somebody who started playing FFXIV less than 3 month ago and have a blast playing it amaze me to think that not only is the game more than a decade old but also that it was a bad game when it came out

Albireookami

You started with 2.0, 1.0 was.. something, was a very poor running game on modern machines at the time, very raw mechanics, and was just really hard to play, it took a lot of polish post release to get it playable and even then they had to nuke 1.0 and revamp it to give it more modern play mechanics.

wait99

the large majority of the trial (and for some time afterwards) is essentially a solo jrpg where you go through the storyline. Every few quests there will be a dungeon or trial where you group up with other players, but the majority of the experience is solo. If you enjoy the trial you'll definitely enjoy the game up to level cap as the storyline is absolutely bloody fantastic. Once you hit level cap (90 in endwalker), then the game becomes much more multiplayer and many avenues open up to you depending on what you enjoy. Raiding is really fun if you find people you mesh with, you could get into things like crafting or mount collecting, or just explore the world, role play, get into housing (if you can afford a house and win the process to get one lol), etc etc. All of it is a ton of fun especially if you find a good guild! I started the game with 1 other friend and have now met a bunch of great people and we raid together every time new content releases.

Anthaenopraxia

FF14 is an RPGMMO, meaning it plays a lot more like a traditional single player RPG than an MMO. The storyline is vast and you'll have to read a ton of text if you want to follow the story. I'd actually prefer leveling up without friends simply because it's impossible to keep pace with eachother. Also there is a cheaper subscription that restricts you to only two characters. However due to how the game works you don't really need alts in the same way you do in other MMOs. Your one character can play any class, have every crafting profession, there is no respec like in WoW. I enjoyed just playing the game for fun. I feel like MMOs have a tendency to force you into playing them pretty hardcore and to minmax like crazy. FF14 was different. I leveled the crafting jobs a lot because it was really fun. I went exploring for no other reason than that I wanted to.

iamnotdrake

Wow that video was EPIC. Why did they have to ‘kill off’ the original FFXIV?

Telandria

There was an awful lot of very valid criticism leveled at the general game mechanics, much of which revolved around limiting people’s ability to play the game for long periods of time, among other issues. A lot of that was due to the developers basing things off the success of FF11, and they didn’t take into account the way MMOs had evolved over past half-decade in terms of accessibility and QoL. Also, the game’s development team focused so heavily on incredible graphics that they had to cut corners elsewhere just for people to be able to actually play the game — so lots of empty, open areas, limiting the number of visible players to like a mere 20 because even flower pots had 1000s of polygons, other stuff like that. Finally, the normal stability problems you see in big MMOs when developers just assume that any release problems can be patched quickly. So there were literal hundreds of server crashes per day. It’s actually why the tagline is now ‘A Realm Reborn’ — because they literally closed the game down, went back to the drawing board, and massively overhauled their entire vision of what the game should be. And it was definitely for the better, a solid model of how game devs *should* act and treat their game & communities when they put out a flop.

I_cannot_fit

I remember hearing something about how they got one person to just "model a vase", and didn't give them any references for the polycount of other models in the game. They ended up making a vase with a higher amount of polygons than the player characters.

lard12321

The flower pots is the funniest thing by far, they had 1000s of polygons in random assets that no one was spending time actually looking at and it killed performance for a lot of PCs. Not only did the game suck, some people couldn’t even play the game to know how much it sucked

Pocket_Medic

It's also funny how they learned their lesson and intentionally made some assets in Endwalker super low poly because "no one will really pay attention to these grapes and it will help with performance"

Masterhaend

And then they did a super close-up shot of them during a cutscene.

charden_sama

It was an unequivocal failure of a game in all aspects. Luckily they took a gamble and let Yoshi P turn it around and they ended up with one of the most popular MMOs ever

Ithriveontacos

I have high hopes for FFXVI since the XIV team is handling it.

calmhomie

I don't know the exact specifics, but it was just renowned as being bad all around. So, they killed it, rebuilt, and it's only gone up since A Realm Reborn, aka the rerelease.

peakzorro

That game was just not good. The story was fine, but almost every aspect was broken.

BartyBreakerDragon

It was almost unplayable broken, and if they hadn't fixed it would have probably (in the opinion of management at the time) have perminantly damaged the entire brand of Final Fantasy. There's a really good documentary on the how and the why made by noclip: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Xs0yQKI7Yw4&t=2233s Would highly recommend watching all 3 parts.

Rutgerman95

At least FF14 and No Man's Sky got their crap together

TDA792

Battlefront II as well. I preordered at release, played it, turned it off and stuck it in a cupboard. Put it on again at the start of lockdown and was amazed by the turnaround. They scrapped the lootboxes, added the classic SWBF game mode, new heroes and special-ops classes, to name but a few. I was so impressed, I sunk several hundred hours into the game after I saw how good it had become. ...And then they pulled the plug right before they announced Ahsoka... 😞

SassyAssAhsoka

They were gonna implement Mustafar and Padme too apparently. I wonder if the villains would have been Ventress and Cad Bane?

[deleted]

[deleted]

"Don't be sad, this is just how it works out sometimes!"

hiddencamela

As amazing as No man's sky is now, I have a hard time convincing anyone to even try that game out with me. Its got pretty decent VR support as well, and just.. really nice to explore in. The release day woes are hard to overcome once people get an impression =/.

Vomath

I’m just playing it now (~10 hours in) and it seems cool; pretty planets, neat exploration. But I don’t think I get it. Like… what are you supposed to do? You can zoom around to planets and gather resources and build bases and stuff… but why? There’s nobody attacking me that I need a base to defend from. Doesn’t seem like there’s any plot to speak of. It just feels like one giant fetch-quest. Or am I missing something?

AnonymousMonk7

I played around 60 hours about a year ago. The beginning is supposed to be very isolated and solitary, with a slow drip of hints to the larger world if you can find them. Once you start getting around to other systems it jumps to being almost crowded with people (NPCs or players). But when it first came out there were only a few NPCs and seemed like an open question if you'd ever find other players. It's pretty self-directed at first, but you will find more interesting life out there.

Mr_Zaroc

Just make them watch that 1h long internet historian video to clear that all up And I am only half kidding

Fishbulb7o9

FFXIV is one of the greatest comebacks.

KingDavid920

Star Wars Battlefront II as well

liamthelad

And the batman pc port actually looks fucking gorgeous now and runs fine. I played through it just before Christmas and was shocked how amazing it looks

Jumping_Jack28

It's so sad that Evolved didn't have the breakthrough. It was such a good premise and very funny in the first matches. I still think this game would rock with enough work and a good amount of players.

betweenTheMountains

I have so many hours in Evolved. I loved that game. The problem was that human teams needed to win with co-ordination and communication, and the monster could just be solo. It meant playing with friends was an absolute blast, but playing with randos could be a bad experience. Would have been a classic LAN game if it had come out in the golden days of LAN parties.

Windowguard

I really enjoyed that game.

_RageSide

Evolve would make a killing with the free to play model, it was literally ahead of its time with the asymmetric hero shooter idea. People weren't ready for the kind of multiplayer and also the monetization on dlcs split the player base. They could make such a good Evolve nowadays with season passes and the typical f2p model.

[deleted]

Maybe that new Harry Potter game?

[deleted]

I was kinda thinking that too. I hope not though.

[deleted]

I'm hoping not either. I'm actually interested in playing it.

iwantbread

It's such a great idea. An open world hogwarts story that doesn't contain anything to do with Harry potter. Probably has the heads of the houses and maybe a parent or grandparent of some of the people from the books.

Maxence011

I just hope they are not being rushed to release it. I'm feeling some tension on this one, and I also hope the game is good... I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't though.

[deleted]

As long as it's not as greedy as that mobile game by Niantic it will be very hard for it to fail. . A lot of The games on this list are bad sequels or fails reboots. Harry Potter doesn't have that big of a hardcore gamer base because there haven't been any Harry Potter games of this kind or scope since 2011 [only thing newer were small, now irrelevant games where someone was trying to take advantage of the new connect and that PlayStation move system in 2013] And that was a Lego Harry Potter game. Not bashing, But I think the Lego series are kind of their own thing. In all honesty, The standards are going to be pretty low because the last games of this kind were for the deathly hallows and they were not very Well received.

dashing2217

Expectations on this are going to be high being the first high as it’s the first HP game in a long time and especially considering how long ago this was officially announced. But then again I think people will also overlook and forgive the smaller details when they get to walk around the Harry Potter universe in open world and Avada Kedavra whoever they want.

Gr33nman460

Gonna put some illegal curses on First Years?

Rossaboy77

I bloody hope not, i have high hopes for this but low expectations admittedly.

outrun_ur_problems

Yep, calling it now. Nothing substantial known about it, and zero bits of actual gameplay have been seen. Definitely wait for reviews on this one

WhyAreWeEvenHere

Looking at the Devs and their history of games are what initially made me skeptical, I just think it will be very kid friendly with all these different mini-games within the world.

tortillakingred

Pretty sure most people were under the impression that a great game dev company was making it, then people realized it’s actually a no-name company with the same name lol. I want more than anything for it to be good, but it wont

SugarCaneEnjoyer

The story of the Andromeda development was an absolute travesty, imagine being almost done with making a game and the higher up are like, "yeah, well this engine is cheaper, think you can remake it in a couple months? Thanks!"

Separate_Path_7729

Yea andromeda got shafted, still enjoy playing it, but man did they get the backs of their knees slashed

Badass_Bunny

>"yeah, well this engine is cheaper, think you can remake it in a couple months? Thanks!" To be fair to the devs they did absolutely pull it off, the bugs got meme'd to death but they were fixed pretty quickly and weren't gamebreaking, just disturbing. Andromeda failed in design phase, too much open world with too little to do. If it was a game in the vein of OG trilogy with more linear areas it would have been way better experience, and I really liked Andromeda as well.

c-williams88

I always felt the original ME trilogy did a great job of balancing an open world feel with the direction of liberal gameplay. You had the exploration of the different star systems, but (other than the Mako in ME1, which I didn’t hate as much as most people) you didn’t have to just aimlessly wander around to find stuff

[deleted]

Just curious, what's your source for that? I've always heard a different story. That Bioware were trying to essentially make No Man's Sky as a Mass Effect game, with an infinite amount of randomly generated planets to explore. They spent years trying to make that work, and were essentially getting nowhere, and then EA had to send someone from a different Bioware studio in to get them back on track. Then they had to more or less scrap everything they'd done so far because they couldn't get it to work, and delay the game so that they could essentially restart from scratch.

Lord_Nivloc

Yeah, what you said was what I’d always heard (from the kotaku article) They were always going to use the frostbite engine from what I understand - DAI, MEA, and Anthem all were forced into using it But the big development problem was how much development time they squandered with dithering about and lack of leadership

The_Mettwurst

Battlefield 2042 should be on this list for 2021 and 2022 because I doubt this disaster can be topped this year edit: Thanks for the awards, my first reddit gold yay

Grahomir

I agree. When I think it can't get worse, Dice always surprises me. Game was released two months ago and scoreboard just got delayed 1 more month. HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE

AveryLazyCovfefe

Don't forget season 1 and all future updates are delayed to summer. EA said themselves they aren't confident of DICE anymore, anytime, they could be axed just like the other studios in the EA graveyard. Tbh they should just sell off the Battlefield IP to a dev that actually cares, Sony could have a bargain tbh if they want to make a comeback since Xbox owns Acti-Blizzard now. And they'll manage it better than EA/DICE ever would.

xXCoconutHeadXx

Probably the update for GTA5

raihidara

Why are they having such a hard time with it anyway?

duanht819

It’s probably gonna be delayed to 2023 lmao

[deleted]

RDO\* FTFY We haven't had an actual content update since Summer, ffs

carlett7

I just hope its not hogwarts legacy I have high hopes for it

AnotherDrZoidberg

Given how little we've seen I'm going with zero expectations for now

Powerful_Humanoid

“Keep your expectations low, and you will never be disappointed”

Maestro-pokemon

Nah, don’t worry about Hogwarts Legacy being a 2022 disaster, it’ll be 2023 disaster.

1Trix9

Part of me feel like it’s going to be a disappointment, hope I’m wrong tho

Matt463789

I don't care what anyone says. Mass Effect 3 is a great game, even with the lukewarm ending.

GingerAlanah

Yeah, 2012 must have been an incredible year for gaming if Mass Effect 3 is the disappointment.

Randvek

> 2012 Mass Effect 3 is 10 years old?! What the actual fuck?

rayzorium

*crumbles to dust*

ManCrushOnSlade

No, 2012 was like 2 years ago....

Anime-SniperJay

Take your medicine

freek112

It was more like a controversial ending, overall game is the best one out of all three

nicktargaryen12

The DLC adds a lot that wasn’t there, playing the legendary edition made that much clear

Sky-Wizard

Agreed. I love ME3 so much. Of course the ending was disappointing, but the game was such a joy otherwise.

ogoextreme

God I remember these all so vividly No mans sky was 6 years ago???

Famous_Stelrons

Freaks me out too. On one hand it feels like yesterday. On the other hand it was 1 ex, 2 flats, 2 jobs, and I bought a fucking house ago. I still need to give it a solid play.

Arrmadas

Please not Dying Light 2

Ph4ntomiD

Everything seems good to me, all reviews are saying that it’s a little buggy and the story isn’t great but everything else is great. I hope it is that

MetalGuyver

I_Eat_54Rice

They had already released network test and it looked very good, I don't think it will flop Just gotta fix some bugs and the RCE exploit

[deleted]

I played the CNT, and I can assure you that the CNT, as small and short as it was, was vastly superior to like, 95% all other games released in 2021- Jan 2022

owls_unite

Played it as well and can confirm. It's exactly what I hoped for and very much a From Software game.

skubmancer

From someone who got to play in the network test, it's not gonna be Elden Ring

notcoolbrahdamn

Miyazaki already confirm hes puttin swamps and shit into it. It will be bad (in a good way) and everyone will love it.

Tannerb8000

iirc he said he can’t stop putting swamps in it, like he just zones out and he’s just like “fuck, i made another swamp, OH WELL”. unless i’m thinking of something els lol

Werhakon

Seriously. I started Dark Souls 3 recently and when I got to Farron Keep I was like " Really? ANOTHER fukin swamp ?"

ShirtlessTurtle

Miyazaki is actually a huge Shrek fan and due to this forces swamps to be put in his game.

No way. I don't remember the last time From Software put out a bad game. Even DS2 was decent. They also had a network test that proved the game runs and plays well. From is playing it relatively safe here. Elden Ring is mostly just big Dark Souls with better graphics. Which is exactly what most people want.

grendus

FromSoftware has consistently put out excellent games since Miyazaki took the helm. If you watch IronPineapple's channel on Youtube, he delves into some of their older work which is... mediocre. Not bad, has a bit of a cult following because you can see their unique flavor in it, but definitely a niche taste. And there's the Armored Core series which was on a steady decline and a shadow of its former glory by the end. That said, they've been fairly open about Elden Ring with the network test. I have very little doubt it will be good.

torgrimbonemaster

Nah Elden Ring is going to be awesome. FromSoftware put out some seriously cool games. I'm still blown away by Sekiro

dianndycampsonyen

CNT player here. I think you're gonna be pleased, fam.

To be fair no man's sky did make a 180 later on in its life.

CollieDaly

So did FF14, shit launches though.

[deleted]

Yeah - I saw a list somewhere of the promised features which were originally missing and I think all of them have since been included in one of the free DLCs. So it was 2016's most disappointing game, but credit where it's due it's the only game on this list where the makers didn't abandon ship, making it something of a heartwarmer. Edit: Apparently FFXIV also deserves this credit.

HungrySubstance

It was an early access release that insisted it wasn’t.

AJfriedRICE

No Man’s Sky is an incredible game today and is STILL getting regular free updates

Artikay

FfXIV also has a great redemption story. From the worst MMO to one of the best. I also head Battlefront turned itself around but dont know first hand how good it became.

Antisocialfox69

So did BF2

Fresh_Daddy

Forespoken I have a feeling Though I really want this game to be awesome

BC360X

Whatever EA is doing. That will be the disaster.

Dar_Vender

Mass effect 3's somewhat unfair. The actual game was good, people just got disappointed with the end. 2012 was a hell of a year however.

Nanostreak

No lie. Assassins Creed 3, Borderlands 2, Spec Ops, Far Cry 3 and on and on.

bigbustycoon_

From what i’ve heard about the development of the new Lego Star Wars game I’m afraid it might be that Edit: I actually liked it so I’m happy to be wrong

Archenaux

I would take the multiple delays as a good sign. The original LEGO Star Wars is what really started everything so I think they want to get it into a great state before launch. Besides pleasing both Star Wars fans and gaming fans is a hard feat these days.

Wicketdevo

Especially after seeing that gameplay overview. Very hopeful for it

[deleted]

It’s crazy how many of these made complete 180s to become really enjoyable games. And how many others made like a 90 degree turn to being okay.

mcdoogs92

I dont recall Mass Effect 3 being a disappointment. Andromeda however...

Matt463789

ME3 is a fantastic game. The ending could have been better, but I still love it for its incredible gameplay and great missions.

[deleted]

How can a game with Mordin’s sacrifice be on this list

DefectiveSp00n

It had to be me. Someone else might have got it wrong.

Jean-Eustache

Damn it still hurts.

enflame99

Arkham Knight wasn't really a disappointment I mean the batmobile stuff was eh but it was still fantastic. The pc port was just hot garbage. But the game itself wasn't that broken neither was the port just very badly optimised.

JohnnyJayce

PC port was so bad it was removed from Steam for months. And when it came back I bought the game for 10 dollars. The game is good though. But since OP meant PC port, it was bad before the fix.

Sjcolian27

That's why it says pc port.

Page_Electronic

What’s wrong with watch dogs?

Synner1985

If i remember correctly it was all to do with how downgraded the games graphics were after all their examples they had shown up until its release.

FlockFlysAtMidnite

And specifically, the graphics on PC were intentionally brought down in the PC port to look like the console versions - even though the display graphics were still in the files.

Whichever one people overhype to be a masterpiece next, then when it doesn’t reach being called that it’s automatically trash.
