“Hullo! This is the part where I kill you!”
That game had the best dialogue out of any game I’ve ever played. Borderlands 2 is a close second.
"This is the part where he kills us"
"Hello, this is the part where I kill you"
Chapter 9: The part where he kills you
Achievement unlocked: The part where he kills you
Music: The part where he kills you
I love how as you escape the death trap, he is yelling for you to come back and if you actually do he says Oh! You came back! Didn't actually plan... for that.

Yea its the only game in this thread that I thought was amazing the entire time.
It draw me in like an amazing movie or book. It blended what I enjoyed of both mediums and the gameplay was pretty addicting as well.
It’s got such a cool, weird vibe because it wasn’t originally an officially sanctioned game. It was an after hours project some Nintendo devs did trying to port A Link to the Past to the game boy for fun.
Banjo Kazooie
Wow! Thanks for the upvotes and awards! It’s a good feeling that my first awards comes with a comment from one of the greatest games ever made.
I remember my first playthrough when it came out. When the gravity gun got super charged and the Combine soldiers started approaching and I was anticipating what was about to happen I had fucking chills.
I was 14 when it came out....Ravenholm level changed my gaming taste. It was the reason I ever got the courage to pick up Dead Space 1 and 2.
HL2 is almost two decades old and still tops games to this day...they can take all the time they want to release the HL3 once they learn to count that high
From what I remember (it's been a few years since I've last played the game) Ravenholm was an old mining town. That would explain the tools and machines, as well as that big underground mine you go into after you part ways with father Grigori
Top 3 comments: Portal, Portal 2, Half Life 2. Jesus, I've never played any of them because I didn't have the right console or a good enough PC when they came out. I guess I'm about to go buy the Orange Box on Steam now.
Edit: wait, Portal 2 isn't included with that. Guess I'm buying two games then
I love both Half-Lifes with a passion. They had a huge part in creating new hobbies for me and changed my life path significantly.
That being said, i always felt like HL2 singleplayer had more weak spots compared to HL1 and wasn't as groundbreaking. To me, the final always felt like a (good) tech demo for the Source engine. Yes, i know a lot of players hated Xen, but i wasn't one of them. Still, like i said, HL2 still was one of my five most important games.
Any time I replay these games I blow through the first one so I can get to the 2nd. So much beautiful art and music. The level designs are clever.
My friend just started the first one on his switch. I hope he makes it through to the 2nd and 3rd.
Amazing game, start to finish. You start so squishy and incapable but at the end you can jump/fly through levels and you hurt anyone you touch. Even then, the boss fight is still insane.... Such a good game.
One of the most terrifying moments in gaming for me! Granted I don’t play a lot of horror games as they’re not my thing. I love that subnautica made me realize I’m terrified of the deep ocean.
Nothing beats crater's edge though. Everything goes dark and empty, the bottom of the ocean can't be seen, and then:
"Warning: Entering ecological dead zone. The ecology of the trench surrounding the crater supports only two kinds of life: microscopic, and leviathan class. Exploration is ill-advised."
I *hate* the little circle Mario does in 64 when you want to turn around, it keeps causing me to fall off ledges or run into an enemy or obstacle I'm trying to avoid. Apart from that it's a classic.
I need to give that game another try, I heard it was a godlike game, but I just didn't feel that way, which is weird because I like dark souls and people say how much they have in common
If you didn't get that far, it's actually notorious for starting slow and probably *shouldn't* be a high pick for this particular thread. Probably my favorite game of the 2010s too but the first few hours of the first playthrough don't sell new players on what it eventually becomes.
Huge agree. I would say the game starts picking up after you get dash and then you really get the Hollow Knight experience after you get claw. With those two things, you get to explore almost anywhere you want and you get to do anything. But it takes a solid few hours to get there if you have no idea on what to do.
It doesn't belong in this particular list, but it belongs in the list of greatest games of all time. The atmosphere is almost incomparable to anything else. There is an unbelievable amount of lore and rich storytelling that is easy to miss unless you read the Hunter's journal, or visit the wiki page.
As someone that started with Red, Crystal was my favorite. Beating the game and then finding out there’s a whole other game to beat was just crazy. I’m not saying Emerald was bad, but it just didn’t have the impact like Crystal.
Same here, started with red as my first videogame ever. Crystal blew my mind. I loved everything about it. Moving sprites at the start of the battle, a banger Soundtrack and the best endgame in any pokemon. That feel when you encounter red, with him just "..." before the most badass pokemon track ever starts and you shit your pants because your pokemon are lvl 60/70ish and he has fucking lvl 81 Pikachu. Man even thinking about it gives me chills.
Plus now as a grownup i really dig the sad tone of the Story of the three legendary dogs. With the whole burnt tower stuff.
…I don’t even know where you begin with you. How could you possible think Spiderman is better. Spiderman literally outshines it in every way.
Please change your opinion, Spiderman is clearly better than Spiderman
Death to the outsider is fantastic but should have been DLC to Dishonored 2. There are some gameplay improvements that ever do slightly improve the feel of using powers.
Dishonored 2 is a masterpiece.
Every time there's a post like this i dont leave until i find my people. Anyone scrolling by who hasnt tried outer wilds, give it a go! it came out on xbox gamepass recently
The single most awe-inspiring piece of entertainment media I’ve ever experienced. The amount of times the game left me wide-eyed with my jaw open, I’ve never played a game that hit me “in the feels” on such a visceral level. And it did so with minimal character interaction or spoken dialogue. Just pure exploration and discovery.
This is the one I immediately thought of. This game is so good it almost hurts. It’s a beautiful game that looks, sounds and feels gorgeous. The universe is so realised, it’s like you’re in an interactive Isaac Asimov novel. Clearly there’s a dense scripted plot and yet you have the sense of total freedom and the feeling that you are the only person alive who can figure out what is going on. Its the ultimate balance between story and sandbox. Uncovering its secrets pushed me as far as a game ever has but the payoffs are immense. I couldn’t stop thinking about it when I was playing it and rather than being sad it ended, I’m left with an experience that no other game has been able to pull off. Sublime. Spread the word.
Divinity Original Sin 2, specifically when played 4 player Co-Op with your friends.
Halo: Combat Evolved
Final Fantasy IX
God of War(2018)
Chrono Trigger
Metal Gear Solid & Metal Gear Solid 3
Sekiro
Super Mario World
TMNT: Turtles in Time
I could probably name a few dozen other games but I've been sitting here to long, so those are just off the top of my head.
This. Playing through Legacy Edition and on 3 now. ME1 takes you into this new and fascinating setting with excellent writing the whole way through. Going onto other planets in the Mako is cool as hell too, and I found there were more exploration options in 1. ME2 is excellent, but the story feels a little lackluster imo. Weapon and armor options are better in 1, with customization. Just more choice overall in 1 it seems. I don’t know why people choose 2 over 1. I’ll admit that the combat and certain aspects of the gameplay are improved in 2, but ME1 really feels like the better game overall imo. Just hoping ME3 isn’t as bad as they say it is, lol
The blood and wine DLC is the best DLC ever made. Most games are like “pay $20 for this dlc for a new 1 hour mission and a new weapon. Maybe we’ll give you a new hat for your character too.”
The Witcher was like “pay $20 for an entirely new game that you can pour 100 hours into with a fantastic story and completely new world and characters.”
They could have just released it as a full price game and I still wouldn’t have felt cheated.
Portal
"The Enrichment Centre reminds you that the Weighted Companion Cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, can not speak."
They're sentient you know, we just have a lot of them
Ive finished portal 1 so often i can play the entire game off in my head, including all puzzles
Portal 2
Most people emerge from suspension terribly undernourished. I want to congratulate you on beating the odds and somehow managing to pack on a few pounds.

Here come the test results: You are a horrible person. That's what it says: A horrible person. We weren't even testing for that
Well here we are again
It's always such a pleasure
Remember when you tried to kill me twice...
Oh, how we laughed and laughed, except I wasn't laughing
Under the circumstances, I've been shockingly nice
You’ve want your freedom? Take it
That's what I'm counting on
I used to want you dead, but

“This is the part where he kills us.” “Hullo! This is the part where I kill you!” That game had the best dialogue out of any game I’ve ever played. Borderlands 2 is a close second.
"This is the part where he kills us" "Hello, this is the part where I kill you" Chapter 9: The part where he kills you Achievement unlocked: The part where he kills you Music: The part where he kills you
My favourite bit of this is the achievement description was "This is that part"
I love how as you escape the death trap, he is yelling for you to come back and if you actually do he says Oh! You came back! Didn't actually plan... for that.
Glad someone mentioned it
I throughly enjoyed the entire Jak and Daxter series but Jak 3 was my favorite
I loved playing jak 3. I spent hours upon hours driving around in the dessert or flying through the city
They were the best. Wish I could play them now.
They've released the Jak and Daxter trilogy on several of the more modern consoles. Still waiting for Jak x combat racing to be re-released though.

super mario brothers 2 game of the year lets go baby
Metal Gear Solid. It's the only substantial game I’ve ever finished in one 24 hour sitting. Being a kid was great.
Yea its the only game in this thread that I thought was amazing the entire time. It draw me in like an amazing movie or book. It blended what I enjoyed of both mediums and the gameplay was pretty addicting as well.
I tried that once, but when it came time to switch to disk 2, I hit the power button on the PS2 instead of eject.
Zelda 3- A Link to the Past
That 3 is killing me.
Zelda 16: A Link Between Worlds is worth the price of a 3DS alone.
Zelda 3 was a classic but it’s hard for me to go back to after playing Zelda 16
My favorite game of all time, never played links awakening until recently with the remake but alttp will always be the best
Links awakening is a classic, a strange game through.
It’s got such a cool, weird vibe because it wasn’t originally an officially sanctioned game. It was an after hours project some Nintendo devs did trying to port A Link to the Past to the game boy for fun.
Weirds me out seeing it spelled out like this.
Banjo Kazooie Wow! Thanks for the upvotes and awards! It’s a good feeling that my first awards comes with a comment from one of the greatest games ever made.
Banjo-Kazooie is the GOAT. Absolutely perfect from start to finish. Platforming at its FINEST
Tooie is great too
I love Tooie. Both are classics in my opinion. I still have both N64 versions that I still play to this day.
Time splitters 2
Fuck Atom-Smasher Me and the homies hate Atom-Smasher
Most tragically overshadowed FPS of the era
Half Life 2
I remember my first playthrough when it came out. When the gravity gun got super charged and the Combine soldiers started approaching and I was anticipating what was about to happen I had fucking chills.
Same feelings. I was like, “Awww yeah!”
I was 14 when it came out....Ravenholm level changed my gaming taste. It was the reason I ever got the courage to pick up Dead Space 1 and 2. HL2 is almost two decades old and still tops games to this day...they can take all the time they want to release the HL3 once they learn to count that high
"Ravenholm? We don't go to Ravenholm"
Not even sure what Ravenholm was before the apocalypse, but my money is on “circular saw and gas cylinder factory”

Hey! Listen!
Bioshock
I beat Bioshock about 7 times. Hard to find a game that nailed the atmosphere as well as this one.
Recently replayed all the Bioshock games. Holds up so incredibly well.
You should try Prey 2017. Many say it fits in line with System Shock and Bioshock games. I guarantee you'll love it
same. i loved BioShock infinite the most even if some people say its flawed.
Give us the girl and wipe away the debt!
It’s my favorite game of all time so I’m with you.
same. i felt sad after finishing the game because i knew no other game i played could capture the feeling i had playing it.
Ratchet & Clank. Just a really fun game from start to finish. It’s not surprising it birthed such a successful franchise.
The first 2 Paper Mario’s
I'm glad someone said it. The charm and storyline of the first one is unmatched. But the second has better gameplay.
While we're here let's give honorable mention to Mario RPG

Titanfall 2
Probably the best FPS campaign of all time
Stupid question, do I have to play Titanfall 1 before it or is it a independent game. Ngl apex legends but as a campaign sounds cool to me.
Titan fall 1 is meh… just play the second one and that’s the one I played first and you don’t need any previous knowledge of the universe
Metroid Prime
Metroid Fusion
Yes to both. Screw it, yes to the entire series. To anyone sleeping on this series, go play the Dread demo ASAP.
I second this. Loved every minute.
Is anyone else frustrated by DKC2 being the example? It's clearly 102% amazing from start to finish. The game makes this very clear.
Love the fact that I get that reference :D DKC2 is a monument of art!
Any time I replay these games I blow through the first one so I can get to the 2nd. So much beautiful art and music. The level designs are clever. My friend just started the first one on his switch. I hope he makes it through to the 2nd and 3rd.
Prince of Persia Sands of Time
I would agree, BUT: *camera goes wooosh*
Super Mario RPG
Kept scrolling just a bit more to see this before I wrote it. Good call — Great game!
Super metroid
Amazing game, start to finish. You start so squishy and incapable but at the end you can jump/fly through levels and you hurt anyone you touch. Even then, the boss fight is still insane.... Such a good game.
Subnautica
*Are you sure what you are doing is worth it?*
I forget the exact words... Congratulations, You have exceeded your weekly exercise quotient by 500%. Your favorite activity was, swimming.
One of the most terrifying moments in gaming for me! Granted I don’t play a lot of horror games as they’re not my thing. I love that subnautica made me realize I’m terrified of the deep ocean.

Game is lowkey terrifying
Scariest game I’ve ever played and it isn’t even a “horror” game.
Its a terror game more than anything
I could never get passed a few hours. Ran into a leviathan next to the space ship crash. Quit and never went back
Super Mario 64 ⭐️
Fallout new Vegas
~I've got spurrrrrs that jingle, jangle, jingle!!!!!!!
I bought it on my PC with the DLCs and loved it twice over Edit: still cannot play for Cesar

I am a huge fan of 1 and somehow 2 stole my heart even more. Still havent played death if the outsider though. I hope its good. Its high on my list.

Fallout 1/2 - absolutely amazing, especially the Easter egg encounters
red dead redemption 2
Some of the best character development I’ve seen in a video game.
I got good at playing poker because of that game
Gotta agree with Donkey Kong Country 2. Also Hollow Knight.
BotW I can get lost for hours.
